Dragging in .swf's no longer working

hi guys
When I drag a .swf in instead of showing it as a video, it just creates a text box with the name of the .swf in it?
Previously I could drag a .swf in and it would show it as a video - even though it did link the video itself to quicktime. But what I'd do is move the vid to where I wanted it, then edit the outputted html to associate it with flash rather than quicktime. But now I can't get the initial steps working?

You cannot add swf files anymore.
You have to use the HTML Snippet to ad the necessary code.
Here are some examples you can use.

Option-drag contacts to Finder no longer works in Mavericks

In all versions of Contacts and Address Book you could select multiple contacts, hold down the option key, then click and drag them into a folder, which would result in a separate vCard for each contact. If you did not hold down Option prior to dragging, all contacts were combined into a single vCard (eg: John Smith and 10 others.vcf).
I just installed Mavericks and now the option-drag method no longer works. As I drag the contacts to a folder everything looks like it is working as normal, except that when I drop, nothing shows up in the finder, the folder remains empty. If I don't hold down the option key, it works as normal and a single vCard is created for multiple contacts. Dragging one at a time also still works.
I would like to know if others are experiencing this as well. I assume this must be a bug, as without this ability the only way to export multiple separate vCards (that I know of) would be to drag them one at a time.

It's frustrating when Apple removes a feature you're used to using... But when they close a door....
Do the following:
1) Open the Contacts Application and select all the contacts you want to export
2) Open the Automator application and create a New Workflow
3) Select "Contacts" from the Library panel at the left
4) Drag the action "Get Selected Contact Items" from the middle panel and select "Get Selected PEOPLE" from the drop-down menu.
5) Drag the action "Export vCards" from the middle panel and select "Export INDIVIDUAL VCARDS" from the first drop-down menu and select a destination FOLDER from the second drop-down menu. Just create a new folder on your Desktop and select it, you don't want to save directly on the Desktop as this will put all your individual vcards there.
6) Run the workflow by hitting the PLAY button at the top-right of the window.
Optionally, you can save the workflow for future use, but the best practice would be to use the Get Selected Items and not the Get Specified Items, as the later would only export the contacts you already have there and not the new ones, I believe.
In any case, there's the window!

[1.1.3.27.66] Drag tables to worksheet no longer works.

The ability to drag a table from the object browser into a worksheet to create a select statement seems to have stopped working. When I try to drag a table accross, nothing happens - no mouse cursor changes-nothing. There is nothing in the java console when I try to drag altough I get the exception below on startup..

I've just tried deleting the jar files for the 3 third party database browsers. Dragging still doesn't work

.hasDefinition no longer working when I move .swf movie to a diff directory

I am on Flex 3.6 (Sorry, the move to 4.5 is just too darn difficult right now as I am on a tight deadline and I ran into many many migration issues).
For years I have used the following code in a component I made that subclasses SWFLoader and it works just dandy fine:

The .swf's I am loading with the SWFLoader contain various animation MovieClips that I created in Flash CS4 and are stored in the library of that animations.swf. When I keep the animations.swf in the relative path of the Flex app MyApp.swf (i.e. I have a folder myApp which has the Flex app MyApp.swf and a folder called assets which has the animations.swf) all works fine. As soon as I move the assets folder to a different folder that is outside the myApp folder foodchain, the .hasDefinition no longer works. That is, the hasDefinition() can't find my animation in the library of the animiations.swf
What on earth could be the issue? I don't get any exceptions or error messages. I just don't get the MovieClips out of the library.

Thank you so much for your prompt and helpful reply. I am both testing locally (using file system relative path url's) and going to deploy using http. Where do I put the crossdomain.xml file? In the foodchain of where my app will be running? If I am testing locally and want to test the http url paths, do I put the crossdomain.xml file inside my html-template folder?

My bookmarks toolbar in Firefox 10.0.2 Mac OSX 10.6.8 suddenly disappeared. View>Toolbars>Bookmarks Toolbar is checked. Dragging URL's to the bookmarks toolbar area no longer works. The gray area appears and disappears when checking/unchecking under View/Toolbars menu, but will not show any or accept addition of bookmarks.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"

This Nightly feedback, Steganos password Manager drop and drag functionality no longer works after last update.

Cut and paste still works but the drop and drag so longer works.

I too have the problem: W7 64 bit. Drag and drop worked until yesterday when I "upgraded" to FF v 26.0 - I can no longer drag passwords etc from my password manager to website fields - a barred circle appears when I try to drag.
I tried pressing ESC (one profferred solution) and also reset FF to no avail.
This is more than annoying: some of my passwords are dozens of characters long and there's no way I can access sites by typing them in! I need a solution, even if it's reverting to a previous version.

Nothing. It's nothing to do with PSE; this is a limitation of Photos, as is the loss of being able to use an external editor without exporting copies of your images.

Drag and Drop export of vcards to Mail no longer works in Snow Leopard

In 10.5, you could drag a vcard from the Address Book application, drop it on the Mail icon on the dock, and the vcard would be automatically attached to a new mail message. This no longer works in 10.6. Tested on a G4 iMac running Leopard and a Mac Pro on Snow Leopard. Kind of a bummer, as I used to send new contacts to business partners all the time this way.

There have been other reports of drag and drop to the icon not working like it did/should.
I imagine rewriting it for Docksposé caused a lot of code changes. Hopefully, they will fix the things that have fallen through the cracks.
I forgot to mention the only workaround I can find is to create the new message first, and then use Docksposé to drop the vCards onto the new message.

Moving a SWF containing relative Links no longer work

I've come to the experts.
I created a Flash Catalyst Project that contains external URL links. I actual want them to be internal relative links.
I've followed the process of using to Flash Builder to edit the Main.mxml file to change to a relative path.
I hit the Project/Export Release Build...
I open the SWF file in Flash Player from with in the 'bin-release' folder and it all works great. However when I move the swf file to another folder that actually contains what would be the same relative path to the files I want to link it no longer works.
If I look at the content of the swf file in a third party editor/viewer app the relative path is correct.
I'm probably missing something very fundamental but just can't 'click' to it, pun intended.

When I relocate the swf file with all the associated src files it doesn't work
As a further test I pointed the 'Project Export Release Build' from Flash Builder to the actual folder I wanted the swf file in and again it didn't work
If however I point the 'Project Export Release Build' to //documents/Adobe Flash Builder 4/bin-release it does work
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Drag and drop of html-files into Firefox 3.0.1 no longer works after going from XP to Win7

I use firefox portable 3.0.1 on an external disk.
Used to have a portable PC with XP SP2, now have a new Windows7 Professional machine.
On the XP machine I was able to open Firefox from the USB disk and drag&drop html-files into its window to open them. Suddenly on Windows7 this no longer works?? Any ideas/fixes?
Note: I do have to start the portable Firefox in XP SP2 compatibility mode, after which it seems to work fine (apart from this issue thus far)
A lot of configuration went in this Firefox portable install, so it would be nice to get this to work with a quick fix instead of having to start from scratch with a newer version.

Simply, sharing video via email is not advisable.
Many email services have an attachment limit of 20mb and some a limit of 10mb. As emails are sent through an array of relays, the effective limit is the smallest file size allowed on any of the relays. That means that video is rarely suitable for emailing.
Then there's the whole issue of Codecs and not all machines will have the codecs to play all videos. Plus, folks with slower connections can find it very inconvenient to download large video files.
Finally, sharing video from iPhoto via email is not supported. All that gets you is the Movie thumbnail. If you feel you must share via email then you'll need to export the video first, and attach that. Use the File -> Export command and set the kind to Original.

Other than that your options include:
Upload it to a sharing site like YouTube or Vimeo and email a link - these will allow the recipient to view the material online. That will avoid the codec issues mentions, and the person can still download the video file if they wish.
Upload it to sharing services like Dropbox or YouSendIt and email a link. This will require that they download the material to their machines to view.

The computer my iTunes account was locked to no longer works

As the title says my computer that has all my tv shows and that on no longer works.
I was reading when I bought the tv series and that, that its locked to one computer only. So what happens now that its broken?
Do I have to rebuy everything when I get a new computer or am I able to re download once I get a new computer?
Is there anything I can do?

Content is not locked to a single computer. You do, however, get only one download per purchase for any content other than apps and iBooks. So unless you have a backup, as iTunes itself advises you to make, or have those shows on an iOS device, you may indeed have to repurchase them.
If you lack a backup and an iOS device with those shows, your best hope is that the hard drive in your old computer still works. If it does, you can mount it to your new computer, either internally if there's room for another drive or in an external case. You should then be able to drag the TV shows and any other content from the old hard drive into the iTunes window in your new computer. Once there, all you should have to do is authorize the computer to your iTunes Store account (Store menu in iTunes -> Authorize This Computer).

Grouping compilations no longer works after adding artwork..!

Until yesterday I had never bothered with adding artwork to my itunes library as I had a gen 3 iPod that would not show it anyway. I have a new ipod so last night I decided to add artwork, this I did by getting what I could from Gracenote, the rest I have been dragging from images on Amazon and other sites. Ever since doing this the Group Compilations option no longer works, despite having this checkbox ticked in preferences and making sure that the yes box for part of a compilation is ticked for these albums. In addition, every song in a compilation album is displayed individually in the Cover Flow view option.
Is this a peculiarity of 7.2 or is there a way I can get this to work again? I am sure it is something to do with having added artwork as it was working fine before.
The help menu in itunes seems to have stopped working too now, which doesn't help...obviously!

Spaces no longer exists in Mountain Lion. The replacement, Mission Control, has a different implementaion but allows similar results.

Have you tried going to System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy and dragging your hard drive into the box then drag it back. That will trigger a re-index.
