Draw angles in space

Hi,
I am a novice user of Illustrator!
I would like to draw the following figure:
How do I do this ?
I don't find:
- the "angle sector" function
- the techniques of transparency to put in front of / behind a shape (yellow ellipse / orange sector / green sector)

I don't know about this being so difficult I di this using two Quarter Circles one Half Circle and one Full Circle and the using the Effect>3D>Rotatethe Half Circle had to be repositioned.
To color it you expand and then add a couple of straight paths and turn it into a Live Paint Group.
Here it is in Color but I amnot so sure it is necessary to make it a love paint group after all I did it here but it might be necessary

Postion of Styles Draw in page

The Styles Drawer comes up to the right of my screen. I want it on the left but can't find out how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

Although I am not certain, in Pages 09 the styles drawer appears wherever there is substantial space or where there is more space present. If there is more available side space on the left side of the Pages document window, the drawer appears on the left and vice versa. Essentially, although I may be incorrect, the drawer appears wherever space is greater. I hope this helps.
To make the drawer come up on the left, move the pages document window to the right.

Prevent iChat from yanking me out of one Space and into another

Using Spaces and working in a separate Space from where I have an open iChat window it's incredibly annoying that when I receive a chat message from someone iChat will immediately switch Spaces on me...even if I'm in the middle of typing or drawing in another space. Is there any way to turn this off?!? The red badge over iChat's icon is enough! I don't need to be yanked away from what I'm working on...

If you set iChat to Every Space it will show up no matter what space you're in, so it won't have to move you between spaces. The Chax plug-in lets you hide the buddy list automatically when iChat is in the background, so it won't get in your way (since it would always be there no matter what space).

Drawing outside the java applet ?

Hi all !
How do you draw "outside" the space taken by the applet on the web page ?
For example, say I've got a menu bar where the applet size is 100 width by 20 height on the page, and when the user clicks on one of the buttons that I've drawn within the menu, I want to be able to draw menu buttons "below" the applet, over the web page (pop up menu style)

How might they do it ? (dont really want to decompile

Artboards and EPS size

Hello all! I'm an experienced CorelDRAW user (so I do have some vector graphic experience) but a noob to Illustrator and trying to evalutate switching.
In CorelDRAW when I export an EPS it doesn't matter what size paper the CorelDRAW file uses, the EPS bounding box is only the size of the drawing.
In Illustrator, however, it seems that I have to set the art board to the size of the drawing. Otherwise when the EPS is pulled into another program (like InDesign) the frame created is much bigger than the actual drawing leaving white space around the drawing.
Is there an EPS setting I'm missing somewhere that would make AI set the bounding box to the drawing and not the artboard?
Or (as most of the Illustrator files we'll be working with are created by someone else) is there a way to automatcially set the size of the paste board to the size of the drawing?

Great, thanks again, thats even easire.
Earlier I was going partially on what one of my operators was finding. Now that I'm hands-on here I'm I notice that at least one of these drawings has a large locked box around everything. Removing that (very happy to find the Unlock all command!) and saving as EPS makes the EPS size the size of the artwork. AND I also saw that sneaky little "Use artboards" button, which my operator might have had on also.

Very weird audio glitch! Any ideas?

When I command-click to draw blank recording space, if it's too close to the beginning of the timeline it shifts every other pre-recorded layer over one measure but keeps the audio only in the same place. So the result is the playback sound does not match the MIDI notes or real instrument recordings. Any new recorded material on new or old layers is automatically shifted down as well, but the playback audio remains in the same spot as it was recorded. To further complicate things, if I move any recorded material around or bring it back to the beginning of the timeline, the playback audio is at a fixed distance away from the recorded material, so the audio moves with it, just not synced to the visible notes or audio waves. I can repeat the problem originator (by command-clicking new recording space too close to the beginning of the timeline) over and over and it shifts every layer over more and more - displacing the audio from the visual bars more and more.
This isn't a one-time occurance either, I had this happen before but I was able to revert to a saved version. My problem is that I saved the project before trying to quit and relaunch Garageband, and now its permanently displaced. I'm hoping there is a fix so I don't have to re-record my whole project. Again, I've tried quiting and relaunching. And I've tried restarting my computer. Any other ideas? Has it happened to anyone else?

How to get Safari to open an HTML document created in AIR on iOS

We have an iOS app that creates a 3-page HTML document on the user's device and then prints it. We were using Darkredz ANE to do this, but the ANE is broken in iOS 8 and the Darkredz website is abandoned.
As a workaround, we want to use Safari to launch the HTML document, then print from Safari. But Safari won't open a local document that belongs to another app, probably because of the security sandbox. We don't have a network connection, so we can't save the file remotely. Is there a way to get Safari to open a local document?
If not, does anyone know of a FileManager app that can open files that are located in the "documents" folder of other apps on the device? I've tried several of them, but so far, they only load files from iCloud, Box, etc.

Sorry I didnt think about it needing to print as 3 separate pages at specific points. If you can't get the HTML printing to work then you could keep could this thought in mind. If the height of the, I presume, HTMLLoader object is the right value, you can draw the white-space of the page into the BitmapData and then it might still print at the right location. If it doesn't work immediately and you felt like putting in a little more effort, you might be able to tweak the height of the HTMLLoader objects so that each one represents a single page. Granted this approach would likely only work for one paper size format, such as 8.5x11. Sorry I don't have any easier ideas that work with what you already have done so far

Seriously WEIRD No other way to describe this

I've just switched to CS4, and opened up an InDesign CS3 document in CS4 and well, now all my non-breaking spaces have the following tiny words:
]A man is only as good as the words he uses.
I kid you not. The space has become about 10 mm wide to accommodate the words which run neatly over two lines to fill the space. What the?!!!

Brilliant! (Admittedly, I was considering "how would I make a fake screen shot").
It's even worse than that: a
b font designer
with humor.
InDesign used to have its own, built-in system for 'drawing' its various spaces. After all, they're supposed to be empty, so moving the 'cursor' a bit to the right should be enough, right? And ID supports many different spaces -- half, sixth, third -- and most of them just can't be found in all (or even any at all) fonts.
But... font designers complained! Indeed, they have every right: if, for example, you create an
i underlined
font -- with an underlined space as well -- ID ignores it, and draws an empty space of its own. So, with CS4, they chose to use the
b font's
regular space, non-breaking space, en-/em-/the rest-spaces, if they appear in the font. Only if not, ID substitutes its own solution -- move an appropriate distance.
A nice story, but for solid confirmation, you could check if the font has any character at position #160 (U+00A0) -- or perhaps, admit you got us all going.

I worked around this by changing the directory that yaourt builds the package to ~/build and that produced the built package without errors. Usually packages install without any problems but I am lost as to why it wouldn't work this time.
This was the largest file that I've tried to install on my system, about 145MB downloaded and the "build" directory size rose to about 1GB during the build last time I checked. Is it just impossible to build large packages in the /tmp directory with its default size? how can I fix this?

What he is (probably) saying is that you did not have enough space in your /tmp partition, which is (normally) of the type tmpfs, meaning that it is entirely in your RAM.
He also said that you should increase its size in /etc/fstab.
If, however, you do not have /tmp as tmpfs (check your fstab), then your root partition was full.

PSE7, creating vignette, where is oval marquee tool?

.I previously used PSE3 for photo edting. I now have PSE7. I am trying to create a "classic vignette effect" as described in Scott Kelby's PSE3 book, pg 300-301.
purpose of this effect is to highlight the baby inside an oval with soft edges and blur everything behind the main subject. While clicking on the marquee tool I find no circle or oval tools, just squares and rectangles. I need a tool to draw an oval space around my baby's face. Under the marquee icon there are sqaures and triangles, no circles or ovals. Could you further direct me in this technique using simple directions? I appreciate your responses!

Audio Bug in AIR on IOS?

Hi Folks,
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I am developing a Starling/Away3D game for iOS and Android and for the most part it works great. I have run into one problem recently, however. When returning to the Foreground from a resource intensive app, like TempleRun2, the audio is choppy, like it is playing every other frame kind-of thing. I did some testing and it is true for all recent Air apps like Super Hexagon, and Managana.
Older Air apps, like SnowBomber and CombOverCharlie, seem to work fine in this situation which makes be think that it is a problem with more recent versions of AIR (I am compiling with AIR 3.6.) The only other thing that I can think of is that perhaps it is related to using Stage3D - I know there have been some issues on iOS going to the background and returning.
If you have a work around I would love to hear it. I know that it is not a CRITICAL bug, but it really sounds like crap, which seriously degrades the overall experience. I have tried manually stopping and starting the audio but it is still choppy.
Thanks in advance for your help. Also, thanks for making AIR so awesome on Mobile with Stage 3D. The performance is amazing. I still have a onAir Tour shirt from when Mike Chambers and the guys drove around the continent on a Bus.

welcome to the forum
you have a 5mb connection but your noise margin is a bit high at 11.1 as normal about 6. the real problem is your profile is down at 500 instead of 4500 and this is probably due to the resets/disconnection which eithe you have done trying to improve your speed or the hub has done on it's own.
if you stay connected 24/5 for 3/5 with no resets/disconnections your profile will rise to 4500. you may find later that your noise margin drops to nearer 6 with a slight increase in your connection speed

Routing non-TCP/UDP traffic while using FWLB on CSS 11503s

Hello all,
I've been tasked to setup up FWLB with CSS 11503's as shown below. The issue is that intranet workstations use VPN client software when connecting to certain sites through the Internet and other times they use http or https (for connection to different sites). Because no flow is setup for ipsec and ECMP uses per packet routing for non TCP/UDP traffic, I'm concerned that load balancing through the firewalls will occur on a per packet basis. If that is true, stateful inspection in the firewalls will block asymmetrical traffic flows.
Is my understanding correct? And, if so, is there a way to configure the CSS units to deal with this?

for non-flowy traffic like IPSEC, we use a hash algorithm to decide where to send the traffic.
So, it's not per packet loadbalancing.
The same source/destination ip/port will always go to the same firewall.

2011 Macbook Pro suddenly says no space available on start-up disk (plenty available) and USB drawing too much power (only charging phone). What's going on with my computer? No longer able to charge my iPhone 5.

Two days ago I was using my computer, a 2011 Macbook Pro, and suddenly got the error message reading "Your Mac OS X startup disk has no more space available for application memory. To avoid problems with your computer, quit any applications you are not using. Closing windows and removing files from your startup disk will also help."
I was only using Google Chrome, nothing was running in the background, and I have 443 of 449.25 GB available (this is after clean-up I conducted after receiving the error message, but probably cleaned up less than 25 GB), so there should be no shortage of space. However, the message kept popping up and I deleted a few files and eventually it went away and hasn't reappeared.
However, last night and then again this morning I have been getting the error message that my USB drive is pulling too much power and has been disable. All that was plugged in was my iPhone 5 on the charger and my computer is also on its charger, so I don't know why this would be an issue, either. I have always charged my phone this way and never had a problem until today.
I haven't been able to charge my phone since. What's going on with my computer?

Regarding the USB, see if zapping the PRAM helps.
