Drawing with animation

I would like to draw a circle, but have it appear like I am drawing it. Is that possible with Keynote?

That's a clever approach, ecnelis. One could do a similar thing directly in Keynote (again, if your background is solid). Create your circle, then create four separate objects as masks, one covering each quadrant of the circle. Fill the masks so that they are the same colour as the background, so that the circle disappears. Now apply a Wipe Build Out to each object, using the appropriate directions of Wipe, so that as they disappear the circle is revealed. This should get you very close to the effect you want (and if you create quarter-circle masks, the result will be nearly perfect).

  • Faster drawing with 2D Director

    Hi....
    Im building a game with director 8.5 and Im having
    performance issues related to the drawing of all the sprites and
    animations on screen. Is there anyway I can have director using the
    video card for its drawing instead of software??? Maybe an xtra or
    anthing that can help?
    thanks

    hey again...
    Picture a puzzle game like colapse or tetris where there are
    multiple peices that at one point or another that might be moving
    around. There is also a faire amount of small animations playing
    while your playing the puzzle game.
    Ive attempted loading sprites using director3D's overlay
    feature so that all sprites are hopefully loaded in the vid card
    for faster drawing and animating....but it seems that when drawing
    huge sprites (like 800x 600) overlays are faster then to have them
    on the score as 2D sprites....but when it comes to drawing a huge
    amount of small sprites...director's 2D is faster then drawing them
    as 3D overlays...

  • Need guidance with animated table

    Hi,
    I believe I need to write my own custom table drawer. The requirements of the table:
    Main one that differ from JTable
    Cells can scroll to the left or right and up or down on key press(animated-not simply changing the cell values)
    An example is the TV guide channel only mine will also scroll left and right.
    Standard table stuff
    Cells can have images and/or text
    Cells bgcolor can be modified
    Cells can span multiple columns.
    Any cell can be selected/highlighted
    All cells content must be antialiased
    Can someone please give me some direction on how to do this? Should I just start hacking away using the standard Graphics2D class? How should I handle the scrolling? Can I somehow use the JTable class with animated scrolling? I'm just worried about efficiency if I create my own class with the Graphics2D class. The table will usually be about 100 rows by 5 columns full of data (text and images).
    Thanks, sorry for sounding somewhat newbish :)

    Hi there,
    You have to implement your own JTable. I never had to deal with JTable before but here is how you could start...
    public class MyJTable {
      public MyJTable() {
        //modify the behavior here...
      public void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
        //paint your JTable the way you want...
    }The performance may be an issue if you will use animations. Let me know if you need any more help.

  • Problem with animated .gif

    I have a problem with animated gifs. So if I set a animated gif as background and a button is over it as in the example below, then everytime the animation goes on the button disappears until I go over it with the mouse. So what can I do to solve this?
    import java.awt.Color;
    import java.awt.event.ActionEvent;
    import java.awt.event.ActionListener;
    import javax.swing.ImageIcon;
    import javax.swing.JButton;
    import javax.swing.JFrame;
    import javax.swing.JLabel;
    public class FrameBackImage {
              public static void main(String args []){
                   final JFrame frame = new JFrame("Frame");
                   frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
                   frame.setSize(400, 400);
                   frame.setResizable(false);
                   frame.setLayout(null);
                   java.net.URL imageURL = ImageApp.class.getResource("animatedw.gif");
                   ImageIcon imageIcon = new ImageIcon(imageURL);
                 final JLabel label = new JLabel(imageIcon);
                 label.setBounds(0,0 , 400, 400);
                 frame.getLayeredPane().add(label);
                 JButton button = new JButton ("Exit");
                 button.setBounds(200, 129, 60, 60);
                 button.setBackground(Color.black);
                 button.setForeground(Color.white);
                 frame.add(button);
                 button.addActionListener(
                 new ActionListener(){
                        public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent arg0) {
                             System.exit(0);
                 frame.validate();
                  frame.setVisible(true);
    }

    In the future, Swing related questions should be posted in the Swing forum.
    Your usage of the getLayeredPane() method is something I've never seen before, so I don't know if thats the problem or not.
    How to display a "background image" is asked all the time in the Swing forum. So to familiarize yourself with the forum you can try searching the Swing forum. Using the keywords I highlighted would be a good place to start.

  • How can I add 3ds Model into After Effects with animation and camera rotation?

    Hi all!
    I'm on my way to my final project of Multimedia Animation of my bachelor last year.
    I have good knowledge of After Effects & 3ds Max.
    I want to do a short movie with aliens being shot down.
    So, my question is: How can I import my 3ds model with the animation(keyframes) into After Effects AND rotate the whole character and it's animation as I move the camera?
    for example, having a alien being shot down at the same time I'm recording with the HD camera around, that means that I have to define planes and angles, the problem is that I'm not parenting the character correctly with the plane.

    Element doesn't do pre-anaimted objects, so that would be the limiting factor. Of course it could still be handy for otehr scene elements. On that note, using AtomKraft and exporting the model as an Alembic file with animation might also be something to look into...

  • Drawing with the Pen tools

    This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/WSfd1234e1c4b69f30ea53e41001031ab64-73a0a.h tml

    Correction: same issue -- pen tool drawing shows up only on the digital image on the screen. Not when printed. Well sounded like a good theory.
    Problem remains: how to get pen tool drawing, made on photographs, to print.

    Curt, believe I found the answer:
    Create a new blank page, the size of the photograph to be worked on. The blank page is what the pen tool responds to only.
    Add the photographic image to the new blank page (same size).
    Now you can use the pen tool over the photographic image. When finished drawing, flatten the image with drawing, and print.

    Perhaps you are talking about stroking the line?
    Set the color and size with brush, then in Path window click on Stroke Path with Brush.

  • Drawing with Asterisk

    does anyone know how to draw with asterisk on an applet? i am writing a program that asks a user for a size of a square and then draws the square on an applet using asterisk.

  • Drawing with mouse

    Hi everybody,
    I'm making a drawing application, everythings looks and works ok, except for one thing...
    My mouse cursor is hidden and a paintbrush like cursor follows it. This cursor is a movieclip, because the user chooses a color, and the tip of this paintbrush changes to the selected color.
    So far so good. But there's one problem... when I draw to the left the line is drawed with no problem, but when I draw to the right, the line is interrupted, and I don't understand why.
    I made one experiment, and with no movieclip "attached" to the mouse cursor, the line is drawed with no problem, both to the right and left.
    I'll give you the code that manages this feature, in hope that someone can help me on this.
    Thanks for your time...

    You're wright... it is here. The boardOut function is called too soon, but funny thing is that, if I don't have a movie clip following the mouse, it works OK. If there's a MC the mouse calls boardOut early, when the drawing movement is to the right.
    To the left the movement has no problem

  • Script for saving GIF with Animation Loop Endless

    Hi,
    I am searching for a way to use  "save for web" in a Photoshop CC Script.
    I already found how to use the "save for web" using Script, but now i am stuck, because i cannot find any information on how to set
    that the animation, i want to save as a Animated GIF File, can be set to loop endless.
    I already tried to search in all the docs i found about scripting, but there is not a single information about saving gif with animation loop endless...
    thanks,
    Philipp

    When you do use "save for web" and select GIF, on the bottom right, the loop mode can be selected. But i think i wouldn't matter to me if it's being set before saving the image.
    I already tried to run the script, but somehow
    "charIDToTID('Ordn')" for example won't run. Is this the same as charIDToTypeID? because i found charIDToTypeID is a function, but charIDToTID is not...
    also the third line from the end, one of the functions seem not to work, i think....
    But already you given me a real good answer to what i may try to search for, since i did not actually know that this is set within the timeline, i always used the option within the "save for web" dialog on the bottom-right.
    I Solved my own problem ...
    I just made Photoshop CC with a script log everything, then gotten to this:
    function setLoopForever() {
    var idsetd = charIDToTypeID( "setd" );
        var desc5 = new ActionDescriptor();
        var idnull = charIDToTypeID( "null" );
            var ref2 = new ActionReference();
            var idanimationClass = stringIDToTypeID( "animationClass" );
            var idOrdn = charIDToTypeID( "Ordn" );
            var idTrgt = charIDToTypeID( "Trgt" );
            ref2.putEnumerated( idanimationClass, idOrdn, idTrgt );
        desc5.putReference( idnull, ref2 );
        var idT = charIDToTypeID( "T   " );
            var desc6 = new ActionDescriptor();
            var idanimationLoopEnum = stringIDToTypeID( "animationLoopEnum" );
            var idanimationLoopType = stringIDToTypeID( "animationLoopType" );
            var idanimationLoopForever = stringIDToTypeID( "animationLoopForever" );
            desc6.putEnumerated( idanimationLoopEnum, idanimationLoopType, idanimationLoopForever );
        var idanimationClass = stringIDToTypeID( "animationClass" );
        desc5.putObject( idT, idanimationClass, desc6 );
    executeAction( idsetd, desc5, DialogModes.NO );
    Works perfect!

  • Drawing with a custom profile stroke is not working for me. Does it work for you?

    Drawing with a custom profile stroke is not working for me. Does it work for you?
    I can only apply it on an existing stroke but can't draw a new one with the selected profile. In fact if I change the profile to other than the default Uniform I also can't draw a new stroke with any other width than the default 1 point. This doesn't seem normal.
    Using SC5 on a PC.

    Another question on the same topic.
    Once I add a new profile to the list is it possible to put it on top of the list. I need this because the Adobe people decided to put the list in a tiny scrollable window with only a few of the first profiles showing. If there is noting in the interface may be I have to modify some program files settings?

  • How to save expression together with animation preset?

    I am trying to understand expressions and animation presets.
    I have one single slider control, which controls the opacity of a layer, where the value is the slider value + slightly changed using an expression.
    I can save the slider control as an animation preset, but the expression gets lost.
    Yes, this is so basic that it can be, this is the way I like to learn. And as far as I know, expressions can be saved together with animation presets. I hope someone can tell me how!

    The reason that the expression is not removed when you delete the slider is that the expression is only reading the slider value, the slider doesn't know that the expression is there. There's no reverse link.
    You can build more professional effects but that involves editing the xml file that tells AE what effects are applied. This still would not generate a reverse link to an expression.
    Enabling or disabling an effect only changes the way things are rendered. If you have keyframes on a Lens Flair Brightness and you disable the effect the Lens Flair will not render but the keyframe values will still be available to an expression. Again, there's no reverse link. Since an expression slider does not make a change in the pixel values of a layer turning the FX switch on or off will have no effect on an expression reading the value.
    The "trick" in creating an Animation Preset that uses expressions and is removed with the "effect" is removed from the Effects Control Window is to only write expressions for properties that are available in the effects used. You could do this by applying the Transform Effect, or the Levels Individual Controls Effect, or the CC Composite Effect to the layer and writing the expression there instead of placing your expression in the Layer's opacity property. Take a look at this screenshot.

  • CSS disjointed rollovers with animation?

    im redesigning my site and for some reason my rollovers arent working. the top two thumbs are active.. nike and coke:
    http://www.toddheymandirector.com/SPOTS/index_2010.html
    would it make sense to try this in CSS? and can CSS do disjointed rollovers with animated gifs?

    They work for me, but you are not doing yourself a favor by letting the QT file auto-play. It will block UI interavctivity in many cases. As for you otehr question - an image is an image. CSS doesn't care whether the format in itself is animated or static.
