Dreamweaver 8 button help

I have created a button for the first time using fireworks.
In fireworks when I preview the four states of operation in my
browser it works correctly (IE). When I drag the file to the
position in Dreamweaver 8 and then preview my site in IE the button
does not change state when I roll over it although I can select it
and use use the hyperlink.
The other problem I have is that no matter what I do the
button has a purple border surrounding it that is much larger than
the button itself. I would like to remove this border but do not
know how.
Thank you in advance for any help

Hello,
Are all of the files that are used to create that button
included in the preview? Meaning you should make sure that the
files that are referenced are in the same type of directory
structure as when you view it in Dreamweaver. Also try previewing
it in a different browser (Firefox) and see if it works then. If
so, it is the browser.
In the tag for that button, include this parameter
border=0;
This will remove the blue line. Good Luck!

  • Dreamweaver, flash button help

hi i am createing a website using dream weaver and my
navigation bar has flash buttons as the links to other pages i have
created, i have the buttons working fine but the users have to
Double click on the button for the next page to be displayed. Is
there away that the users will only have to click the flash button
once for the new page to load up?
i am using Dreamweaver 8, and the code for one of my buttons
    is like this

What will happen to those who do not have Flash installed?
    What will search
engines (which don't read Flash links) do to spider your
    site? What will
screen assistive devices (which don't read Flash links) do to
    navigate your
site? What will you do when you move or rename a linked page
    (DW cannot
    manage the links)?
Most experienced people don't use Flash navigation for these
    reasons.

    last

  • Dreamweaver 8 help please!

I'm having an issue with Dreamweaver 8, hope someone familiar
with the program can help me. I've been neck deep in a website
project for a client of my wife's work for the last couple of
months now. I'm old school and code everything by hand in a plain
Ol'text editor. The site works great and is live and all that, but
now I must train the client on how to make changes.
We convinced them to buy Dreamweaver because of the
templating feature, that way they can't screw up code that they
aren't suppose to touch. Also it has a built in FTP, so that's also
good for them. My wife's work bought Dreamweaver as well and I
installed it on my system, that way I can get the templates set up
and make sure it all works, etc.
    Well here's the thing...
I load up any page from the site (that I've coded by hand),
and dreamweaver refuses to show content below the header
graphic/bar area in design mode. The site is a simple header bar
spanning over a 3 table column format with a footer that also spans
the underside of the 3 columns. My site works fine when I view it
out of DW and even if I click the "view in a browser" button inside
DW, but the display mode inside DW simply refuses to show the
    content.
Any idea why? This is kind of critical because these people
know nothing about html and it would be far easier having them edit
in display mode than to go into code mode to change stuff.
Of course, what I should have done from the start is code the
entire site in DW, that way I wouldn't have this issue, but...
    HELP! Thanks in advance!
    E

Putting the page (the one on line currently - so not sure if
    that's the
fixed one or not), but it's still showing errors,
    1. No doc type (therefore putting non-standard browsers into
    quirks mode)
    2. Unclosed tag (point #16).

  • Dreamweaver/Flash Help!!!!!!!

So this is my first time using either of these programs, and
    my head is spinning.
I have a few questions, and any help would be GREATLY
    appreciated.
    1. How do I create a flash button from a picture in my comp?
    2. How do I save that in flash to prepare it for Dreamweaver?
    3. How do I put that flash file into Dreamweaver w/out the
white box around the pic while it plays??
    4. How do I move the icon to anywhere on the screen?
I know it's a lot... but as I said... I'm LOST and about to
pull my hair out!! Thank you so much for any help!!

    Nikki
Firstly I would suggest that you work through the tutorials
    that come with
Flash on how to create buttons as this will be useful to you.
    Flash Buttons
in DW are based on predefined templates that are quite
    different from a
button created in Flash. There is no ability to add images to
    the DW flash
buttons, however I have a tutorial on the Adobe site on how
    to create your
own button in Flash and use them in DW. The link is
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/flash_buttons.html
In terms of the white space you can use the Wmode parameter
    in the DW code
to set the background of the flash file to transparent which
    should solve
    the problem.
In terms of placement you would need to place the flash file
    inside of a DIV
and then you could position to the DIV.

  • Custom Design With Squares as Buttons  - Help

This may be a simple task, the method however is just bypassing me ... can anyone help please?
I would like to design a page, with five interlocking squares of different sizes. It's not an even tessellation, therefore I am doing this in Illustrator, as I need the proportions to be exact. Then importing to Dreamweaver as one image.
The thing is, I would like the squares to be buttons - more than just roll over 'hot spots'.  I would like each square to turn red, blue, yellow etc.
How do I do that ?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thank you

  • Dreamweaver - Button Redirect To Web or Mobile Depending On Device

In Dreamweaver, I have four buttons linking to various social media sites. (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube)  I would like to script the buttons so that the browser will redirect to either the web-based version of the site or link to the mobile url of the application depending on the user device. Would I edit the coding for the hyperlink or is it better to tell the site to search for mobile browsers initially? I am a little confused, any help would be greatly appreciated. The links in question are in the SOCIAL MEDIA BUTTONS TABLE towards the end.

  • Flash shell into Dreamweaver (CS3) HELP!

Alright, I have been struggling with this for hours now. I
have created a fully working site completely in Flash. I used a
shell to access each of my different pages within Flash, everything
works perfectly. Buttons navigate, rollover images appear, simple
animations interact just fine. I inserted the shell.swf into a
blank Dreamweaver file, saved it to my host (Mobile Me) as
index.html and have domain forwarding set up for the site itself.
When I type in the address: www.jenspaeth.com it opens up to
the front page of the shell in the browser. It does not work past
that though. The flash buttons highlight on rollover, but do not do
    anything.
I am supposed to have this sit up and running today and can't
figure out how to make it work. Any and all help would be greatly
    appreciated.

    Getting a 404 error for
    http://www.jenspaeth.com/home.swf
    before I even
bring a mouse over the screen.
    I'm guessing that
    http://www.jenspaeth.com/Jen
    Site/Shell.swf is
attempting to load that file and cannot find it.
Did you upload home.swf and any other relavent files to the
    root of
www.jenspaeth.com? Or is it supposed to be in the "Jen Site"
    folder?
You should not use spaces in folder/file names.

  • Active Content W/ Rollover Buttons Help

I'm pretty new to web design, and I've been using dreamweaver
to create webpages. My problem is I have some rollover buttons I
made in fireworks and imported to dreamweaver as fireworks html,
and in IE7 I get the "activate active content" error. I installed
the dreamweaver 8.2 update, thinking that would fix it, but
although I can see that the extension to automatically change the
code so it'll work in IE in my preferences, the option to do so
never comes up. I read somewhere that it doesn't support image
tags, which I think mine are. So my question is: is there an easy
fix for this other than the update, or at least a fix for a
beginner who doesn't know javascript? I've googled to my heart's
content, and everything I've come across has been over my head.
Please someone help me with this. I can also post the code if
that'll help, just let me know. Thanks in advance!
    Hiram

I'm not quite sure what the actual issue is here but several
    things seem to
    be confused.
My problem is I have some rollover buttons I made in
    fireworks and
    > imported to dreamweaver as fireworks html, and in IE7 I
    get the "activate
    > active content" error.
Buttons made in Fireworks and activated with Javascript are
    not related to
    the "activate active content" issue.
Do you have some Flash or other active content on your page
    which is
triggering the "click to activate" which you're confusing
    with your
    Fireworks buttons?
I installed the dreamweaver 8.2 update, thinking that
    > would fix it, but although I can see that the extension
    to automatically

    > the code so it'll work in IE in my preferences, the

    > comes
    > up. I read somewhere that it doesn't support image tags,
    which I think

I don't quite follow this part.
So my question is: is there an easy fix for this other than
    the update, or
    > at least a fix for a beginner who doesn't know
    javascript?
Web content driven by Javascript is not active content so I'm
    not sure what
the issue is or what needs fixing.
Can you post a link to your page?

  • Flash button help PLEASE

    PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Ok, here is my problem in short. I am fairly competent in
flash. I am able to export a flash button out in flash 6, but am
not in flash 8 or 9. The button just turns dead after i upload the
button into dreamweaver even though its working when i export it
    out in flash.
I did ALOT of experimenting. The button that was exported out
in flash 8 or 9 can work with "_blank" but not "_self". I did
exactly the same thing for flash 6 and it works!!! This is so
    frustrating.
I was hoping to export it out in flash 8 or 9 because it has
    additional graphics in it.
Can anyone please tell me what is wrong. THANKS.
(dead button means when clicked on nothing happens)

If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
    1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
    2. Search engines don't parse Flash links - your site will
    not be spidered
    3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
    will those users
    do?
    4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
    move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons...
    Your link doesn't work.

  • Problem with Flash Buttons Help me

    Sir
i design some Flash buttons but it is save as .swf extension
if i save as jpg or gif then animation not working as well as
    effects.
    sir
how can i call the flash buttons in java plz guide me
    JButton mybutton=new JButton(how can i pass swf extension button);

    kglad
what I did was place the code with the trace evt into the action script under the label on the timeline I have for album1. With AS3 I guess that's the new way of doing it.
I then saved the file and output it for preview in flash as well as html, and I got no response on pressing the button apart from the normal animation and sound I have associated with my buttons. I also looked in the output window and no information came up, which in response to Ned's help, means my buttons are not connecting.
Damn, I have tried everything and retraced my steps from scratch, but I am missing something.
Nonetheless I also opened up dreamweaver cs4, and made a test HTML like you mentioned yesterday, and I inserted my flash file(banner) onto the webpage. Went to preview it, through dreamweaver cs4, but everything else but my buttons work. I have graphics, sound and animation but no damn links work.
    Thanks for your help
    Regards

  • Simple button help needed!

I want to make a simple round button that glows when you
mouse over it and depresses when you click it.
Apparently to do this I need to use Filters to make the glow
and bevels. But Filtersonly work on movie clips, buttons and text.
So I make a circle and convert it into a button symbol
(Btn1). Then I make another button symbol (Btn2) and use the first
button symbol (Btn 1) on the Up Over and Down frames of Btn 2.
Assorted Filters are applied to Btn 1 on the Up Over and Down
frames to get the effects I want.
I test the button (Btn2) using Enable Simple Buttons. It
works perfectly - glows on mouse over and depresses on click. Then
I try Test Movie -- and the button doesn't work!!!
Not does it work when exported as a SWF file!!!
I watched a tutorial video that came with my Flash Pro 8
Hands-On-Training (HOT) book and he used pretty much the same
technique -- except he only tested his button with Enable Simple
Buttons. I'll bet my house his didn't work with Test Movie either!
The stupid thing, is I was just able to achieve exactly what
I wanted very quickly using LiveMotion 2!
What is wrong here? Why is it so impossible to create a glow
button in Flash? Why has it been easy in Live Motion for years?
    All help appreciated!
    Thanks
    craig

I thought the nesting button situation might be the problem
BUT there is no other way to apply Filters to Up, Down, etc. Also,
a freaking tutorial book described that as a valid method, but
    obviously it ain't.
I tried using movieclips as well but basically had the same
    problem.
I mentioned LiveMotion 2 because that ancient program can do
easily what Flash Pro 8 seems incapable of.
What is the logic behind not allowing Filters to be applied
    to simple graphics? It's absurd!
There's got to be a way...
