DREAMWEAVER putting files in wrong folder

Our webhost ATT made a big server switch. I've made all the changes required to point Dreamweaver in the right direction, but the files I try to "put" on our website are going to a hidden folder and not on the active site. I've spent loads of time talking to ATT tech support and they say that the changes need to be made in Dreamweaver. I know enough about Dreamweaver to change and 'put' files on our site. HELP!  This folder has to be updated frequently as we sell tickets for performances online.

OK, I think that still used the CS4 style menus...
1. Verify you have your site definition open. From the Files window (F8 if it's not open) in DW, make sure you have the site name showing in the left hand drop down and Local View in the right hand menu at the top. Below those will be your toolbar starting with Connect and ending with Expand. Below that will be all of your site files, which should look something like...
Where your site should say something like...
Site - YourAwesomeSite (whatever you named your site in DW)
     -htdocs
          -index.html
          +css
          +fonts
          +pages
          etc...
          etc...
2. If your site looks like the YourAwesomeSite example above, where everything shows up under the htdocs folder, all you need to do is click and drag the files out of htdocs and drop them on the MyAwesomeSite level. DW will ask you to update links, click Update or Yes. Delete the now empty htdocs folder.
3. Test the pages
4. If everything is working in Preview, Go to your settings: Site > Manage Sites > click the site you are working on > Edit
5. Under the Advanced tab, click Remote Info and make sure /public is in your Host Directory (it might also be called Root Directory or Server Root maybe). If you had to add it, click Apply or Save or Done, whichever one is there. Close the settings window and the Manage Sites Dialogue
6. Click the Expand button in the Files window. That will make it take up the whole screen and place your remote view on one side and local on the other.
7. Hit connect. If everything is set up correctly, you should only see the public folder and its contents on the Remote View side. If you see anything else at the top of the file list for remote view, your FTP info is not set up correctly.
8. If you are seeing the public folder and its contents only, go ahead and click Put to put the entire site to that folder.
That should do it.

  • Filters putting messages in wrong folder

I've created a large number of filters for email based on from address, where each rule puts messages from a list of addresses into a specific folder, one folder per rule. for some reason, a few email addresses are always put in the wrong folder. I've verified that that address is not in the rule for that folder, and that the address is in the rule for the desired folder.

If you want filter logs, you need to set that up after setting up the filter. Select the name of the filter, click the Filter Log button, then check the "Enable the Filter Log" box.

  • JavaCompiler outputs .class files in wrong folder

I'm trying to compile some code using the Compiler API. The code belongs to package "compile", however, upon compiling the code, the class file ends up in the root directory rather than in the "compile" folder as I was expecting. The compiler seems to be ignoring the package info. What am I doing wrong here?

                   return code;
    }Thanks

How do we know it is wrong?
You are not showing where you compile and run this from.
Also you are making it more confusing than it needs to be because your test class and the data for the compilation have the same package - I'd put CompilerTest and TestClass into different packages just to remove the potential for confusion.
You are not specifying a -d option to the compiler.
You are not specifying what the working directory is and the classpath when you run your test.
You are not telling us where the generated class file is placed.
When you say root directory do you mean the file system root, or the working directory or what?
With some more information we might be able to either reproduce your fault or alternatively explain to you why what you are observing is the expected behaviour.

  • Dreamweaver saving files to wrong folders

I have so many problems with DW, but recently, I spent 4 days putting together a complex page only to have it saved to another folder. I resaved it to the correct folder, then deleted the first file. Obviously, I deleted everything, all my work and everything. Why does this keep happening? If I open a document in a specific site folder, why does it save it to another site folder?
I can see that I'm not saving things properly, and I guess I don't know how. I save the file to the site that I want, but it saves to a different site folder instead. Hope this makes sense. Any help is appreciated.

I keep getting an error when I try to log in to adobe, so if it's a long time between answers it means I can't get logged in.
Yes I'm working from a defined site. I begin a "new document from template", find the template, then begin the page. I realize I was working too fast, and got the wrong site when I saved the file, but why does DW do that? Why, If I'm working from a certain template that's defined to a specific site, am I allowed to save to a different site, even by accident? If I had been smart, I would have done it all on notepad, then just pasted it into the program.
    Here's what I did:
    1. New document from template
    2. save page as:
    3. The wrong site must have been called up and I didn't notice it.
I've built so many pages to this site without this problem, why does it save it to antoher site?

  • Imported files into wrong folder, easy way to move them to another?

Two things happened to me this weekend using Lr that caused files to go into the wrong folders.
On one import I forgot to change the folder to a new one and it dropped all of my pics from the CF card into an existing folder. Oops.
On another import I actually had images from what I would consider two seperate events. One was me goofing around taking pictures of the moon and the others were from St. Pattys day at the pub. So I've got moon pics in my St. Pattys 07 folder.
So is there an easy way to correct this without deleting and reimporting? I tried the obvious drag and drops of selected files in the grid but it seemed adamant that this was a no-no.
    Sam

Try from the center of an image and you should get a wornng dialogue about moving on the hard drive when you drop them on the folder you want. Hey do have to be all from the same folder for a given move.
Try selecting some and doing the arrow trick by the filename in Metadata to go to the folder and then move all you want from one folder to another.
Rather than in All Photos, as I previously mis-stated.

  • Batch processing saves files in wrong folder.

I ran into a problem the other day, and I believe an item should be added to the Process Multiple Files window, or perhaps it's a bug that should be squashed.
I have a folder with many subfolders in it, all full of jpegs. I wanted to use the Process Multiple Files function to convert the jpegs into png files and have the png files placed into the same folder as the jpeg it originated from.
I have the Destination set to Same as Source, but instead of placing the files into the subfolders, all the images go directly into the parent folder. It was much more time-consuming to try to sort them out than to start over and process each folder individually. I should be able to leave the computer unattended and have the files saved into the proper folders; Instead I had to stay close so I could change the Source folder every few minutes.
I see no reason why there isn't an option to place the converted files into their original folder. Isn't that what the Same as Source setting is supposed to do?

Sure, if you owned all of those files and were doing it strictly for yourself you could certainly write a plugin to Acrobat (in C/C++) that could do some/all of the things you asked for.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Blank Page After Putting File To Server

After putting a shtml file to the server it is blank on the server side. I've tested it from another PC with Dreamweaver same version & setup and it works fine so I assume it's not the server. The file is correct on the local site side but server side is blank yet file size is the same. If I did a sync and had it do the dependant files it seemed to work once then wouldn't work again. If I FTP to the server and drop the file all is fine. I deleted the local user profile and created it and it worked once. I uninstalled Dreamweaver and re-installed it and get the same problem. I exported the site then imported it to a different computer and all is fine on that computer. Not sure what to do

    <<
Sounds like a strange problem, but take it a step at a time to sort it out. -- Thanks!
First, SSIs only work when the file is viewed with the browser. In the process of getting the file for the user, the server (if it is set up to handle SSIs) will then insert the contents of the included file before it ships the whole thing off to the user's browser. -- Not sure why you're mentioning SSI's
Viewing files on the remote - I assume with FTP and a text editor? - proves nothing. -- I think you're wrong, Viewing a file after the transfer and comparing the local version and the server version does prove there is an issue if they are not exactly the same since they should be
What browser/version are you using? Have you tried other browsers? -- Browser/version is irrelivant since the file on the server side is truely BLANK after you click PUT in dreamweaver and it suposidly "sends" the file
    >>
Sorry if I'm not explaining it well.. Let me try again..
Websites all setup and working. index.shtml happens to be setup as the main index file and was working perfectly (had been for a few years)
After a computer was imaged over the summer with a default image, CS3 was installed again. The Site was setup and the user connected to the site, then modified the index.shtml file. After saving the file they clicked PUT and sent it to the server. It seemed to flash quick and not truely send it like it use to. Use to take a second or two not a close to instant flash. After this happens the page is blank. Here's what I did to dig into and see what I could find.
Exported the Site , Imported to another computer that had the same image and had CS3 installed (same as the one having a problem)
Modified the index file and saved then put it. Worked no problems. Ran that test a few times. No problem.
Back to the problem computer. Made a change saved/put the file , blank again. Used Filezilla. Downloaded the recently put file to my desktop and opened it. Completely Blank. (I opened with a txt view and even opened with Dreamweaver) I checked the index file on the problem computer in the local folder it is in. Everything is there and perfect.

  • Can't upload "put" files to remote server unless they are in a folder. Please help.

I have done many searches on this and found no solutions. Here is the problem:
When I upload a file from my local site to the remote server it works fine as long as that file is contained in a folder.
    Example:
I can upload an image from my images folder, or a template page from my template folder with no problem.
BUT, I can not upload any web/html pages, my CSS page, site map, or any file for that matter that is simply in the root directory but not in it's own folder.
When I try to do that I get this error:
index.html - error occurred - An FTP error occurred - cannot put index.html.  Access denied.  The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem.   Make sure you have proper authorization on the server and the server is properly configured.
File activity incomplete. 1 file(s) or folder(s) were not completed.
    Files with errors: 1
    index.html
So every time I make a change to my index page I can't upload it to the server without getting that error unless I use a 2nd party program like Filezilla - which works fine. It is only Dreamweaver doing this.
I have been using dreamweaver for a long time and had no problems with this site. This all started happening out of no where. and it is happening on my work and home computer.
I made no changes to my server preferances or anythijng like that.
I was just doing my thing - being happy - and then BAM, not happy any more....

Hi there. First off thank you for your interest and your help.
I have done what you suggest probably 30 times as I have obsessed over this crazy problem for a couple straight weeks before I finaly gave up on CS5.5
I'm not sure what you mean by REMOTE server. The only server settings I am aware of are the ones in Dreamweaver. Here they are:
    5.0 Settings:
Server Name = the same values on each
    Connect Using = FTP
    FTP Address = same numeric value on 5.0 & 5.5 port 21
User name = same on both
    Password = same on both
Root directory = is blank (I have tried it using / with no luck as well)
    web URL = http://ftp.westbrookadvertising.com/www/htdocs/
Passive FTP is checked & Use FTP Peformance optimization is checked.
    5.5 Settings:
Server Name = the same values on each
    Connect Using = FTP
    FTP Address = same numeric value on 5.0 & 5.5 port 21
User name = same on both

Root directory = is blank (I have tried it using / with no luck as well)
    web URL = http://ftp.westbrookadvertising.com/www/htdocs/

  • The dmg files have downloaded to the wrong folder - not finished with the install process

The dmg files have downloaded to the wrong folder - I am at the part of the download/install process where the "Welcome" screen appears asking for me to agree to the license agreement.  Somewhere on your site, I read that they should NOT go to the applications folder but to the "Users" folder. Can/should I move/drag the folder with the dmg files into the "Users" folder"? If so, before or after I complete the install? I am running MAC OSX 10.7.4 on a MAC Mini.
Also, when the trial period is over, I will use the license number for the purchased software disks, should the dmg's/folders then be moved to the application folder or stay in the "users" section? I have Purvhased Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and Adobe Premiere Elements 10, but somewhere on your site it was suggested to download them instead and use the license code at the appropiate time. If someone can help with these questions, I would appreciate it. Thank you

    Hi,
In the Welcome screen, you can accept the license agreement and can go ahead with the installation. You will be asked for the serial number. If you don't have one, install it as a trial application. By default, it's installed in the Applications folder. However, you can change the installation folder in the third screen, if you have a reason. Please see the screenshot below:
After installing, you can't move application to a different directory by dragging. You need to uninstall and install it again in the folder of your choice.
    Thanks,
    Sunil

Spotlight lists items and shows preview images.  BUT what about showing the path/location address of an item in my computer.
Especially important if I've put the item in the wrong folder and what to locate it without multi-steps. iMac OS X 10.5 was more useful.
Old OSX Spotlight function automatically displayed path/location within the machine:  e.g. desktop/folder/sub-folder/item.
Can I make Spotlight show the path?

Press option-command and the path is displayed at the bottom of the little preview window.  Press command-return and the enclosing folder opens.

    Thanks,
    Osamu

    Hi Osamu,
This is a known limitation with BDB HA at the moment. This issue is tracked internally in SR #19041. We hope to fix it, but do not guarantee that it will make it, in the next BDB release, 5.2.
Osamu, if you have access to MOS (MyOracle Support) please consult Note 1250654.1 (Doc ID 1250654.1) -- How to Correctly Replicate a Directory Structure Involving Subdirectories Between Master and Client. This article explains in detail this issue and how to work around it for now.
For reference, to explain the issue in more detail, suppose on the master the environment directory structure looks something like this:
    \BDB_ENV_HOME
         \BDB_SUBDIR_1
         - DbFile_1_1.db
         - DbFile_1_2.db
         - DbFile_1_N.db
         \BDB_SUBDIR_2
         - DbFile_2_1.db
         - DbFile_2_2.db
         - DbFile_2_N.db
         \BDB_SUBDIR_M
         - DbFile_M_1.db
         - DbFile_M_2.db
         - DbFile_M_N.dbOn the client site, the environment directory structure will be incorrectly replicated and will look something similar to this (with all database files ending up under one of the subdirectories):
    \BDB_ENV_HOME
         \BDB_SUBDIR_1
         \BDB_SUBDIR_2
         \BDB_SUBDIR_M
         - DbFile_1_1.db
         - DbFile_1_2.db
         - DbFile_1_N.db
         - DbFile_2_1.db
         - DbFile_2_2.db
         - DbFile_2_N.db
         - DbFile_M_1.db
         - DbFile_M_2.db
         - DbFile_M_N.dbThe workaround to resolve this issue depends on a manual hot backup. AUTOINIT should be turned off via rep_set_config with DB_REP_CONF_AUTOINIT and 0. Than the client should be bootstrapped with the databases and logs from the master and recovery should be run as described in the Berkeley DB Programmer's Reference Guide, in the Hot failover section.
Basically, copy all the databases, copy the logs, run catastrophic recovery on the new client environment directory, and start the application. By turning off AUTOINIT you might need to take care of handling the REP_JOIN_FAILURE event error.
To summarize, the workaround implies the following actions:
    1. On the client environment call DbEnv::rep_set_config like this:
    DbEnv::rep_set_config(DB_REP_CONF_AUTOINIT, 0);With the C# API it's something like:
    DatabaseEnvironmentConfig envConfig = new DatabaseEnvironmentConfig();
    envConfig.RepSystemCfg = new ReplicationConfig();
    envConfig.RepSystemCfg.AutoInit = false;
DatabaseEnvironment env = DatabaseEnvironment.Open(envHomeDir, envConfig);or you could use the DatabaseEnvironment's class RepAutoInit property.
    2. Handle DB_REP_JOIN_FAILURE on the client environment, which could be returned from DbEnv::rep_process_message. Handling implies setting an event callback function via set_event_notify for DB_EVENT_REP_JOIN_FAILURE like this:
DbEnv::set_event_notify(eventsHandler);where eventsHandler is a callback function that respects this signature:
void (*db_event_fcn)(DB_ENV *dbenv, u_int32_t event, void *event_info)and internally checks to see if event is DB_EVENT_REP_JOIN_FAILURE. If it is, it may trigger copying of the backup files from the master onto the client.
With the C# API you will set an EventNotifyDelegate delegate using the EventNotify property and check the NotificationEvent.
    3. Start the client. Because AUTOINIT is turned off, internal init will not be performed, hence it will not remove the directory structure on the client environment.
    4. If the event callback function gets notified of the DB_EVENT_REP_JOIN_FAILURE it means that the backup of the master (databases and log files of the master) is required on the client. Take a manual hot backup as per the guidelines in the Hot failover section, and copy the database and log files onto the client; this is something that the event callback function can do, when it handles DB_EVENT_REP_JOIN_FAILURE by using something like rsync to copy the files between the machines.
    5. If a backup was copied onto the client, run a catastrophic recovery in the client environment either manually via db_recover -c, or programmatically by specifying the DB_RECOVER_FATAL flag to the client's DbEnv::open call (with the C# API you specify it via RunFatalRecovery)
    6. After the catastrophic recovery will have been performed and the client will have started, all the replication synchronization will work as expected, replication messages will be processed correctly, and the directory structure will be maintained.
    Regards,
    Andrei

I am trying to organize a zip file with a bunch of links and files. But when I drag an image file to a folder, it always "Snaps to grid" instead of just landing where I put it. All of the files are going into the same zip file but I want them visually in the space that I put them and not at the bottom of the snap to grid folder location they are looking like.  I am trying to  drag and drop files in groups so that I can group them for now, but image files always do their own "sort by" when I drag them from my web pages. Links don't do it though.  I tried resetting the folder, and deleting the DS files. No luck.

I took the system file out of the system folder on os 9.2 can't boot to put file back in machine also has osx 10.2 but won't let me boot to either need os 9 compatible boot disk I think?

If the OS X 10.2 on the hard drive is/was bootable, try this -
Restart or boot, then immediately press the X key, keep it held down until you know the machine has started to boot using OS X. This is a hardware instruction to the Mac to boot using the first usable instance of OS X it finds.
Once booted to OS X, you should be able to move OS 9's System file into OS 9's System Folder.
Note - in general, unless you know for sure what you are doing and that the results are desired, do not relocate or rename files in OS 9's System Folder or in OS X's System or Library folders.

how can i compile my java file by putting in any folder of mine?
even if i am creating any folder inside the bin folder then also its not compiling my .java file.

when ever i am creating a .java file i have to put

otherwise its not compiling the file.
how can i compile my java file by putting in any
folder of mine?Add the Java /bin directory to your PATH so the operating system can find the javac.exe and java.exe apps.
even if i am creating any folder inside the bin
folder then also its not compiling my .java file. Then you've got a bigger problem. You must have compiler errors that you need to read and fix in your source code.
