Dreamweaver simple rollover firefox error

I have been in the process of developing a website and the
only problem that I run into is that when I use the simple rollover
tool, the rollover works in IE 7 but not Firefox. The alt text
doesn't even appear in Firefox. As a matter of fact, alt tags
aren't working anywhere in Firefox for anything that has them, but
they all work fine in IE 7.
I did nothing fancy to the code, but just left it the way it
was meant to be determined by Dreamweaver CS3. I don't know what is
going on with it (I'm sure it's something simple as things always
turn out that way), but it's throwing me through loops. Please help
Thank you.
P.S. - For a reference, I posted the code for one of the
links I am trying to use a simple rollover with.

>>The alt text doesn't even appear in Firefox
If you mean the alt text for an image does not display during
a mouseover in
Fx, that is proper functionality. If is IE that is wrong. Alt
text is only
supposed to display (appear) when the image does not. If you
want a tooltip
to display when an image is moused over use the Title
attribute.
As to "server space", if you have an ISP they surely offer
free web space.
Check it out.

A moment later, when I'm at the link, its address appears in the address bar, and all is normal. It seems that this happens only from some particular sites. That is OK. Firefox will only display the link in the location bar after the DNS look up has succeeded and a connection to the server has been established. Until that has been done you see the default setting for the location bar: Tools > Options > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest

  • Is there a simple fix to error 1719 in Windows 8 when trying to install Reader?

    Is there a simple fix to error 1719 in Windows 8 when trying to install Reader?
    Have tried the MS fixit tool with no success.
    There doesn't seem to be a simple fix other than the complicated manual registry changes I have seen.
    Thank you.

    Pat:
    Yes, this is where I saw the article detailing the MS "fixit" link...that didn't do it (other than removing Reader for me.  The rest of the fixes I see involved either modifying the registry in some way all the way up to completely re-installing the system software (which is kind of tough as I bought the HP computer with Windows 8 already installed).
    I am not keen to try modifying the registry...
    I agree, it has nothing to do with Reader but thought this has probably affected many others which is why I posted here.
    Thanks.

  • Simple rollover question

    I have a page and I add a hotspot and a simple rollover behavior on mouse over to the hotspot, and on the 2nd state in the states panel I duplicate the first state and simply add a shape on the 2nd state. When I test the page, it does not show the shape on rollover. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.

    Are you using any instructional resource for this, or just freestyling? I'm not very familiar with rollover behaviors in Fireworks, but I suspect you may need to drag the Behavior handle of your hotspot to the target (a slice?). For more info, check out these Adobe resources:

  • Creating a simple rollover

    I'm trying to make a simple rollover using 2 states, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to do so. Can you help, or direct me to a tutorial? Thanks.

    On the first state, draw a slice over the object you want to turn into a rollover. Once you've done that, switch back to the regular pointer tool and use it to click on the little target shape in the middle og the slice. Choose Add Simple Rollover Behavior from the pop-up menu. That's it! You can test it by clicking on the preview button at the top of the document window and mousing over your rollover object.

    Hello,
    what concerns your wish about an uinstaller, so you should use
    https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs3-product-downloads.html >>> AND note this "Read before you download a CS3 product". And esp, "You need your CS3 serial number to complete the installation" but this shouldn't be a problem for you, because you had an official version and so you can use all these informations like https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html

  • Firefox error when opening application

    Recently installed latest firefox 3.6.3. Had other issues going on with my computer so am unsure exactly what triggered this event while fixing other issues (checking for virus/malware, updating windows xp). Tried reinstalling but issue still present.
    When opening firefox, error message below appears.
    Error Message: The instruction at "0x7c884204 referenced memory at "0xffffffff". The memory could not be "read".
    Weird thing is, as I have firefox on my quick launch bar, when I double click it, attempting to open the application twice, it works, opening 2 firefox windows with no error. but when firefox is closed and I attempt to open just once, error message above appears.

    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
    You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

    I had authored a few pages in HTML4.0 using templates, and all was well.  I decided to convert them to xhtml 1.0 transitional. So I modified the tags to lower case and closed everything and it all validates.

  • Dreamweaver 6.1 - JavaScript error when switching between open tabs

    When switching between open tabs a sequence of javascript
    errors occurs. I had not used Dreamweaver for about 2 weeks, and
    last time I used it with no problems.
    I have tried uninstalling it, OKing removal of all files when
    asked, re-installing it and updating with dwmx61_updater.exe, but I
    still get the same errors.
    This has rendered the software virtually unuseable, so any
    help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm working to a
    rapidly-approaching deadline.
    "While executing Browse_Back enabled in toolbars.xml, a
    JavaScript error occurred"
    followed by
    "While executing Browse_Forward enabled in toolbars.xml, a
    JavaScript error occurred"
    followed by
    "While executing Browse_Stop enabled in toolbars.xml, a
    JavaScript error occurred"
    The relevant code seems to be :
    <!-- Browser nav toolbar -->
    <toolbar id="Browser_Toolbar" platform="win"
    label="Browser Navigation" container="document"
    initiallyVisible="false">
    <button id="Browse_Back"
    image="Toolbars/images/MM/back.gif"
    disabledImage="Toolbars/images/MM/back_dis.gif"
    tooltip="Back"
    label="Back"
    enabled="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.isCmdEnabled('back')"
    command="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.backPage()"
    update="onEveryIdle"/>
    <button id="Browse_Forward"
    image="Toolbars/images/MM/forward.gif"
    disabledImage="Toolbars/images/MM/forward_dis.gif"
    tooltip="Forward"
    label="Forward"
    enabled="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.isCmdEnabled('forward')"
    command="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.forwardPage()"
    update="onEveryIdle"/>
    <button id="Browse_Stop"
    image="Toolbars/images/MM/stop.gif"
    disabledImage="Toolbars/images/MM/stop_dis.gif"
    tooltip="Stop"
    label="Stop"
    enabled="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.getPageBusy()"
    command="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.stopPage()"
    update="onBrowserPageBusyChange"/>
    <button id="Browse_Refresh"
    image="Toolbars/images/MM/browserRefresh.gif"
    tooltip="Refresh"
    label="Refresh"
    enabled="true"
    command="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.refreshPage()"/>
    presumably the next error is caused by the previous ones
    failing :
    "While executing getCurrentValue in AddressURL.htm, a
    JavaScript error occurred"
    the relevan tcode :
    function getCurrentValue()
    var dom = dw.getDocumentDOM();
    var value = dom.browser.getURL();
    if (value && value.length)
    //check if is it not a temp file
    //extract the tail of the url
    var filename = value;
    var slashIndex = filename.lastIndexOf("/");
    filename = filename.substring(slashIndex+1);
    var tempIndex = filename.indexOf("TMP");
    if (tempIndex != 0)
    addRecentAddress(value);
    return value;

    You can try this simple fix -
    Quit DW.
    Find this folder -
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
    8\Configuration\WinFileCache-*.dat
    (these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use
    Explorer > Tools >
    Folder Options to unhide them)
    and delete it.
    Restart DW. Works better?

  • Dreamweaver issues in firefox

    Hi, I built a website in dreamweaver and it works well in all browsers except for firefox. As you can see the back ground colour is peeking through and the content columns are sometimes floating out of place. Address is reconinspection.ca.
    Thanks for your help.

    First of all, it looks like your are doing tables for your layout. Since you have no tabular data within them (a spreadsheet or calendar might be a good example), I have to wonder why you're using tables at all.
    You are also using inline styles. You need to understand HTML and CSS and to construct your page correctly, using modern standards.
    Just looking at your HTML, you're doing no general "wrapper" div. Instead, you're creating one <div> for the problem area and figuring it's going to suffice. You have images for navigation and then an image above and below your navigation instead of just making a background color.
    Here is how to make a real website:
    Don't use inline code to place anything. Place it in rules in your external style sheet and you do not need a separate style sheet for each rule (you have two: "site-layout.css" and "site-layout-content.css" each containing one rule).
    In your one CSS stylesheet, after you have your body the way you want it, declare how you want your text to be in your body. That includes how links should be and how your header elements (<h1> through <h6>, or as many as you actually are using) should be.
    Then make a "container" div, also referred to as a "wrapper." You should declare a common background for everything in that container and, in your case the rule should be:
    background-color: #241E20;
    The "wrapper" should have the width you want for your whole website (everything else needs to fit in there). Based on what you have done, I would recommend:
    width: 968px;
    Now, you've got a container to put everything inside of.
    Next, declare your header. You don't need your images for the top and bottom above and below your navigation because your color is all ready done. Instead, you declare a header div with a height of your "Recon" image or simply allow that image to define your height. Now, within that header div you create a navigation div. Navigation is going to need to be positioned out to the right. You're also going to need to position it down from the top of the header div thusly:
    #nav {
         margin-left: 346px;
         margin-top: 51px;
    This positions your navigation as you currently have it to the right of your Recon image and down from the top of the div. You'll place your HTML code for your navigation within that div.
    We've done the wrapper and the header. Now for the fun stuff.
    You need a div for your banner. I would place it outside of your header, even though your header could contain it. It's simpler from your standpoint because you'll be thinking of blocks within blocks. You don't even need to declare it within CSS, but if you want to put text over it or to position a div that will have the "Recon Inspection, LTD" text in it (which you can do in CSS by creating a div that moves the text down like we moved your navigation down as well as gave it a left margin that places it where you have your text in your picture.
    Making a text block like that is very good for search engine optimization, as search engines cannot "see" photographs. And your alt text "home_banner_image" doesn't say anything about your company.
    Now let's get to the fun stuff -- and your actual problem.
    Define a content area:
    #content {
         margin-left: 20px;
         margin-top: 10px;
    For your content area, you have "about us" That should be a <h1> tag and should be formatted so that it is apparent. Search engines will look for these tags for key words in your page. It will pick up your background from your "wrapper" or "container."
    Type in the rest of the text and make it a <p> as you have done, only with left margins that will place the text where you want it. And, rather than do a <p> </p> above your "about us" text, define the <h1> with a left margin the same as your <p> text and with a top margin that avoids the need for that non-breaking space paragraph.
    Now, you'll see all of your text in that div. So how do you handle the photograph?
    Create a float right with a margin:
    .fltrght {
         float: right;
         margin-left: 30px;
    I am estimating that left margin, it may not be exactly right, but you will push your text to the left with that. You put your photograph in right after the <h1> tag:
    <h1><img src="images/about_us_image.jpg" alt="about_us_image" height="338" width="452" class="fltrght />About Us</h1>
    Now your photo lines up to the right of your text and you can change the alt= text to say something more about the company, like alt="Recon provides advanced  API Inspection services and Non Destructive Examinations in compliance with all applicable governing bodies" this would place that alt text into a first header which is good for SEO.
    Now, you don't have a footer. You may want a copyright. So you need to clear any floats with your footer.
    So you want to define your footer (I am using HTML4 and CSS2.1 here)
    #footer {
         position: relative; /* this gives IE6 hasLayout to properly clear */
         clear: both; /* this clear property forces the .container to understand where the columns end and contain them */
    Now, you may want to have a contrasting color for your footer with different colors for text within it as well. I frequently define text to be a little smaller in footers, unless they contain navigation.
    In your HTML, all of your divs lie within the "wrapper" or "container" div. That includes your header, your banner, your content and your footer. Some of your divs lie within other divs, like your navigation lies within the header and the text for Recon Inspection, LTD lies within your banner.
    In your HTML, when you are making your <div> close the tag (</div>) before you do anything else. If you have divs within divs, place them and close them. Then go back and insert your pictures, HTML and text.
    That's how you should do your page. And this will work in all browsers.
