Dreamweaver Spry IE problem :(

Hello all. New guy to the forum here. I'm having a problem with dreamweaver spry menu widget.

Works absolutely perfectly in FF, Chrome, Opera and Safari, but IE simply refuses to drop the menus correctly.

The position of Spry Menu Bar submenus is controlled by the
margin property on submenu ul tags.
Locate the ul.MenuBarVertical ul or ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul
rule.
Change the margin: -5% 0 0 95%; default value to the desired
values.

Spry menu problem - CS6 Dreamweaver

I wonder if anyone can help me with my spry menu problem which I have with a fixed 960px wide horizonal menu bar that has 8 items in it. The sub-menus don't seem to display properly when you click on them in that some of the submenus only show up at the end of the menu bar itself in Explorer browsers 8/9. Does anyone know of any code I can apply to fix this problem? I am new to spry menu features and so any help would be very much appreciated.

Also validate the rest of the code in your pages to see if you have any critical errors that need fixing. For example, a missing doc type declaration might explain Spry failures.

As an FYI, Adobe abandonded the Spry Framework late last year, after CS6 was released because Spry drop-menus don't hold up well on touch screen devices. If you can't get satisfaction with Spry, try jQuery Superfish. It's a better menu system.

I was having a weird problem in dreamweaver... Whenever I was
in code view and typed "shift+i" to make a capital "I", instead it
would paste from the clipboard.
I finally figured out what was happening. I compared the
menu.xml in my app support folder in the user library to the
original menu.xml file that was in the application folder. I went
through until I came across the diff:

There was a diff in the "platform=" tags. The orig stated
[platform="win"], my config stated [platform=""] (nothing in
between the ""'s). So, I reset the platform tag to be
[platform="win"] in my settings and then relaunched dreamweaver. It
fixed the problem.
Not sure how this occurred, but it works now.

Dreamweaver / Spry Menu / iWeb question

Hi,
I'll try to keep this brief. I'm not a talented web page designer... I know my way around iWeb and have poked around a bit in Dreamweaver.
In Dreamweaver I've created a simple Spry horizontal dropdown menu. I'd like to add that menu bar I've made into an iWeb page using "add html" snippet. I can't seem to get to work though. I am aware that Dreamweaver creates a folder called "SpryAssets" that is necessary for this to work, and I've attempted to move it into my iWeb root folder but still no success.
A) Is this even possible?
B) Can anyone walk me through how I can merge a Dreamweaver Spry Menu bar into an iWeb snippet?

Post-published pages do not show up in iWeb. iWeb is not an html editor that displays html pages, it generates html pages upon publish. So no. the page would not be visible in iWeb and anytime you made a change to your iWeb page you would need to publish the site, open the generated html page, and edit the html to add the spry menu.
As you've mentioned you have already created the spry menu so you have the spry menu code. Do as I mentioned in the first post: create a text box with easy to find words, publish, open the html file, replace CODEGOESHERE with your spry menu code. Add linked js and css to head of iWeb-generated html page. An example of the code to replace with your spry menu code would look like this:

replace CODEGOESHERE with your spry menu code. Then in head add links to spry .js and css
iWeb is a toy, dreamweaver is a professional tool used to develop prototypes of professional websites. You are looking for a bridge between the two which will become cumbersome. I recommend that you drop iWeb, learn html and css and use DW for your web development needs.

Dreamweaver Vertical Spry Menu Problem in IE7

I just finished setting up a vertical, 3-level spry menu in
Dreamweaver CS3, and when I preview it in IE7, several pixels have
been added in between the buttons, which spreads the menu out and
looks terrible. The problem disappears after I clear the ActiveX
warning, and it doesn't occur in FF. Could someone please tell me
how to fix this??

Dreamweaver CS5 Spry Menu problem;

Hi, I'm doing a web-site project for my Web Design class, and I ran into a problem. In Dreamweaver my spry menu only shows one part of the menu, but when I go to preview it, its perfectly normal. When I turned it into my teacher he sees the spry menu just like the one in Pic 2. I can't really upload it to a public domain/website because I can't at school. The way we see websites is by transfering folders into the teachers folders and click the index.html. Is there any way to fix this?

Dreamweaver CS4 SPRY Menu Problems in IE

I am trying to have a drop-down menu on my site using the SPRY option in Dreamweaver CS4. In all browsers it looks exactly like it should. Unofrtunately in IE it pops out to the side instead of down. Anyone know a fix around this. The site is http://mtltechnologies.com/

The code is too long. Let's do it this way, did you change anything on the default css of the SPRY menu?
just my thought, why don't you remove it from the table? That might be the cause. Try to think of an alternative way like using divs and css.

Dreamweaver spry sub menu problem in IE

Spry Menu problem with using a transparent background image

Hi- I'm new to CS5 and Dreamweaver. I just finished the beginning webpage tutorial and I have started to work on a personal project. The Problem: when I use a transparent png image as a backgroun-image for my spry menu it shows up fine in live view, but doesn't work in browser view (safari), in fact the menu reverts to it's original grey and blue boredom. Does anyone have a solution for me? Does this mean it will be grey and blue when it goes live? Thanks, Ruth333333

I am new to web design so please try and be patient with me .
I am trying to create a horizontal spry menu bar into a new page. Even though I select horizontal, the menu is vertical. I have read through many previous posts and FAQ'q, but cannot find the answer. It is not just in IE, it is in every browser and dreamweaver itself. I am using 5.5.
UPDATE-- If I create the spry into a new blank HTML document, it works just fine. So I imagine it is something to do with the template?

Ok so I decided to make a nice menu through fireworks.
This confuses me even further, how did you make a SpryMenuBar through FW?
It now works, but the links to the drop down menu are not horizontal in the drop down menu.
So it doesn't work
And this is only when trying to enter it into the template, into a new HTML it works fine..So it does work

Spry Data Problems in IE

I have done hours of research through this forum and several
users have had similar problems - Spry data does not load in IE 6
or 7.
Through my research, I learnt that it is because of IE not
allowing scripts to run locally. I uploaded my files to my web
server and IE works OK with Spry Data.
I tried going into Tools > Internet Options and enabling
scripting, but this still does not allow me to preview files in IE
locally.
Does anyone know of a workaround for this? My situation is
that I am training Dreamweaver to students and would like to be
able to let them preview their Spry data locally instead of saying
to them "Trust me, it will work when you upload to the server".

Hi Diana,
When I change my Testing Server to my local site folder on my
computer, the URL is prefixed with
http://localhost. But when I do this,
Firefox gives me the following message:
"Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at
localhost."
IE doe not mention ActiveX at all. It just gives me a
standard message "The page cannot be displayed", as if the URL link
was broken.
When I load the XML file in a browser, it is OK.

Spry dataset problem. Image dimensions with css

Hey guys.
I'm new to spry, and not an experienced web designer with beginner knowledge in programming.
I am using a spry data set to make a blog kind of interface. I'm using a master/detail layout from the Dreamweaver presets. I am using html, not xhtml and dreamweaver cs4.
I want to change the dimensions of the images in the detail container. I would like to use the max-width command. I have tried using an id tag on the image detail column and using the width command on it with little luck.
How can I do this. Using css is a must, because I'll be using InContext Editing so other users can upload images and posts. So they won't have to worry about the dimensions.

The layout that I sketched up is the one I am going for. So a tip on how to get the text and the headings to flow around the image like shown in the picture would be greatly appreciated. Is it recommended to use tables inside div tags or spry for that matter?

Spry SubMenu problem

Hello,
I have created a spry menu for my website and am having problems making the submenu look the way I want it to. The menu item bar needs to stay invisible until it is hovered over...which I have done. However, once I hover over that menu item, I want the whole submenu background to change to the same color as my menu item background in the hovered state. Currently all I can achieve is to have each individual submenu item background changed when hovered over. I need the whole sub menu to have a background color to it. When I try and fix this by adding a property to the submenu, it changes the menu item background, and this I need to stay invisible in its normal state.
Any ideas on what I am missing or what I can do to fix this? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Spry Validation Problems.

I'm using a modified version of
Neil Dohertry's
Coda Slider. Everything works well except for validation. The
way the
the page is set
up, a large form (broken up into sections with their own
tables) and is panned across multiple divs. Spry Validation is used
on most of the form elements. the on blur and on change events seem
to work fine, but the on submit validation only works for the first
table in the first div. Nothing works after that. If I pull the
table from the the second div and stick it in the first, on submit
validation works.
So is something breaking my on submit validation when my form
elements are placed in multiple divs?

Surprisingly, I figured out that the code is working fine when I clicked "Live View".
So the problem actually was my local host wasn't set up correctly.
For those having the same problem on windows 7 & cs5, make sure that:
iis service is running on ur machine
the testing server is set up on dreamweaver - in my case it was a local connection anf not ftp. Remember to specify your site folder when you do this.
you copy the site folder to (in my case) xampp/htdocs or whatever localhost service you are using.
