version :: ifs 1.1 NT on Oracle 8.1.7
thank you.
Manish.

Sounds like there's a bad document in your ctxsys.dr$pending table which is causing a disconnect.
We've seen problems like this when an ASCII document has what looks like XML tags in it, but which are badly formed, and Context can't handle them. (Like an unmatched ">").
I've put in some instructions on how to isolate the document at the VERY BOTTOM of http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum36/HTML/000327.html .
Although that posting refers to documents which are being indexed by the external Inso filter, the steps still apply to documents which are not being indexed by the external Inso filter (which would be ASCII and HTML documents).
Follow the steps there (at the very bottom), and see if that helps.

    Just launched intermedia on a database, and let it do what it's prone to do.
    I think this database was not indexed by intermedia for some time, so it may have some catching up to do, but I didn't request anything out of the ordinary.
    This database is used by IFS, but I'm not sure that's relevant

  • DRG-50857 and ORA-12838 error while INDEXTYPE IS CTXSYS.CONTEXT

    Hi Experts,
    I've been encountering an issue while creating INDEX.
    If I execute the below script from SQLDEVELOPER line by line, then the index gets created but the weirdest thing is, if I executed the same as one sql file from SQLPLUS or SQLDEVELOPER, I get the error shared below. As we need to deliver as one sql file to customer, how can we fix this issue?
    Below is the content of my sql file

    I get the same error in 11g, as shown below, but not in 12c, as shown below that.  So, it looks like there has been a change in the way that Oracle Text does things between versions.  When you create an Oracle Text Context index, it creates some domain index tables.  Apparently there is some change involved behind the scenes in the dripref.set_preferences procedure that perhaps does an append or some such thing.  If you post this question in the Text space/sub-forum, with a link to this thread, you may get a more detailed explanation and perhaps a workaround from Oracle Text product manager Roger Ford or others.  Or, perhaps some moderator will move this thread there.

  • Errors in updaiting (DRG 50857 and 50858)

    I have installed intermedia a month ago and it was working fine, I could rebuild indexes and everithing else. But now when I rebuild indexes my new text doesnt get indexed and the ctx_index_errors viw throws this errors
    CANALEDUCACION SWS_CTX_INDEX 2000-05-31
    AAABg0AAEAAABTpABc
    DRG-50857: oracle error in drsinopen
    DRG-50858: OCI error: OCI_INVALID_HANDLE
    I tried dropping the index an recreating it but still doesn't work.
    any ideas?

    Hi there, I had this problem too.
    Indexes work okay, then try and rebuild and
    it all goes wrong. It's a bug dude.
    You can check this out with the query:
    select err_text from ctx_user_index_errors;
    If your index is corrupt, you should see:
    DRG-50857: oracle error in drsinopen
    DRG-50858: OCI error: OCI_INVALID_HANDLE
    This is due to the fact that a create
    index statement will work only ONCE
    in a given session. So you can't drop and
    recreate the indexes in one go.
    This is Bug #881851
    You can patch this bug, or use 8.1.6 instead.
    The current workaround, is to reconnect to
    the database and recreate the index.

  • Getting DRG-50858: OCI error: OCI_NO_DATA with user_datastore on 9iR2

    Hi there,
    Created a procedure and mapped it to a user_datastore... getting the following error in the ctx error table:
    DRG-12604: execution of user datastore procedure has failed
    DRG-50857: oracle error in drsinopen
    DRG-50858: OCI error: OCI_NO_DATA
    Created the following preferences:
    begin
    -- set the user datastore procedure
    ctx_ddl.create_preference('ccnews_ud', 'user_datastore');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('ccnews_ud', 'procedure', 'ctxsys_ccnews_ustore_idx_prc');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('ccnews_ud', 'output_type', 'CLOB');
    ctx_ddl.create_preference('english_lexer','basic_lexer');
    ctx_ddl.create_preference('french_lexer','basic_lexer');
    ctx_ddl.create_preference('global_lexer', 'multi_lexer');
    ctx_ddl.add_sub_lexer('global_lexer','default','english_lexer');
    ctx_ddl.add_sub_lexer('global_lexer','ENGLISH','english_lexer','1');
    ctx_ddl.add_sub_lexer('global_lexer','FRENCH','french_lexer','2');
    end;
    Is it possible that the procedure returns an empty clob for a row which causes this problem?
    The index is running on a table with 28,000 rows, I have to admint that the data integrity is not up to par (ie could be existence of orphaned records) Could this cause the problem?

    An empty clob or even an orphaned record should not cause the problem. It is usually due to a bug in the procedure. Data corruption could be a cause. Please post a copy and paste of a run of create or replace for your procedure, followed by show errors and a copy and paste of a run of a query that produces the error stack.

    Can you put the FND_GLOBAL calls in a pre map trigger/process rather than as part of the map?

    I have seen this (in 11.1.0.7, I believe) when the metadata cache ("kgl") gets out of synch with the data dictionary. Specifically there is a flag that determines if prefixes get added to dimension members ("use surrogates" in AWM terms) that becomes false instead of true. If you look at the generated SQL in the OUTPUT column of the CUBE_BUILD_LOG you may find that sometimes a prefix is added to dimension members (e.g. "LEAF_LEVEL_" || dim_table.leaf_column) and othertimes it is not (e.g. just dim_table.leaf_column). A workaround if this is the case may be to execute the following (as dba) before building the dimension.
    alter system flush shared_pool;

  • Intermittent oracle errors with case-insensitive searches

    Hi
    I have a table with several columns, two of them are indexed with oracle text.
    When I ask queries containing "CONTAINS"-clauses against these columns everything works great. However I have a few other columns in table that I want to run case-insensitive comparisons with.
    So I enable case-insensitivity:
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_COMP=LINGUISTIC
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT=BINARY_CI
    Now I suddenly start getting intermittent errors.
    When I call a query:
    SELECT
    FROM
    article_table at
    WHERE
    CONTAINS(searchfield , '%MEAT%') > 0
    Sometimes it works, but sometimes I get:

    Clearly that's a bug. Unless anyone here recognizes it and can point you to the bug/patch number I would strongly recomend you to take it to oracle support.
    Incidently, doing a search for '%MEAT%' is usually a bad idea. Leading wildcards will disable the use of the index on the $I table, so unless you're using the SUBSTRING_INDEX option such searches will usually perform very badly. They shouldn't cause "internal errors", of course.

    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Raford, Thank You for the reply.
    I actually had loaded a knowledge base (examples) and that was working fine, i was able to generate themes and gists also.
    After that while loading a thesaurus, i was getting below error, (with ctxload command for loading thesarus)
    connecting...
    DRG-11510: encountered unrecoverable error on line1
    ORA-00931: missing identifier
    disconnected
    Instead of this, unknowingly i went on compiling thesarus with knowledge base with ctxkbtc command, after this i lost my knowledge base.
    I deinstalled and reinstalled the knowledge base also, but still getting the same error.
    Error report:
    ORA-20000: Oracle Text error:

    Any suggestions?
    should i try loading a thesaurus and compiling it with knowledge base, so that it may work fine?
    Please please give me some suggestion on this, since i have stuck here, cant move further without knowledge base ..

  • Capturing oracle error codes into a variable

    Hi
    Can someone show me how it is possible to save an Oracle defined error code into a variable? What I am trying to do is when a stored procedure fails an Oracle error is raised, such as ORA-xxxx, then pass this code into variable to be saved into a log.
    How do I achieve this?

  • Oracle errors in Weblogic Error logs appear in non english

    We have a problem with weblogic error logging. Specifically, in a managed server's log file, Oracle errors such as ORA-XXXX show in Greek, not English. We are assuming
    that this is because the timezone is Europe/Athens. However, the weblogic application server runs with user.language=en, user.country=US. What's more, there are 4 application servers and 2 of them have this problem. The oracle database is accessed via weblogic datasources.
    Oracle database server Setup: Oracle Server 11gR2 running on Oracle Linux 64 bit, timezone set to Europe/Athens
    Weblogic Server: Weblogic 10.3.5 running on Oracle Linux 64 bit, timezone set to Europe/Athens
    The managed server, according to jrockit, the jvm runs with the following language related system properties:
    user.language=en, user.country=US, user.timezone=Europe/Athens
    The question is: How do we tell oracle / weblogic to log english text for the ORA errors?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    I digged in the weblogic installation directory and it seems like the domain configuration wizard messed up the jdbc configs for the data sources.
    The config xml files for the data sources in the /domain root/config/jdbc directory had oracle driver but the test query was for pointbase. I double checked from the database.xml file in the init-info directory and corrected the entry in the datasource config xmls and voila!.. the errors were gone.
    I am not sure if this was the right approach and whether i have solved the issue or simply patched it.. so I am keeping the question open. If any one has any inputs I will be grateful.
    If the mods/admins feel that the thread should be marked as solved I will surely do so.
    Thanks.

  • [SOLVED] FRM-40508:ORACLE error: unable to INSERT record

    Hi all,
    I have migrated this form from 4.5 to 10g (Version 10.1.2.0.2 ). This form inserts a record into the database table when all the fields in the form are filled and a button Save is presed.
    At the time when I press the Save button, I get this error. FRM-40508:ORACLE error: unable to INSERT record
    So I went on to see the "Display Error" from help and found to be the database error, inserting into a table.
    The error message is ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected DATE got NUMBER
    The form where I press Save button has 3 date fields and I checked the properties of them and they are Date only.
    I also generated to object list report and tried to find some answer, but no use.
    Please help me in debugging this form.

    I think you need to get a description of the table and compare all the "database" columns in the form with the ones in the database table to see that the types match. Somewhere there's a mismatch. Also check the block(s) "query data source columns" and see if there's any
    columns in there that the type does not match the table. (check the sizes of things too while you're at it.)
