Drill down to a fact detail

I am trying to figure out how to drill down from a dimension heirarchy to a fact detail. It just does seem to work. I have
Manager
---Project manager
Then projects facts
The totals by project manager work well, but I tried creating another level below manger and add some detail, but get errors that a level with more detail exists from a different table. The only thing which seem to get close is if I select a different drill path from a dimension which has the project number in it. Thats almost it.
Any simple ideas :)

Hi,
This issue occurs when you have not set the logical level of the fact sources correctly. When you adda detail level under the
Manager
---Project manager
you need to change the logical mapping level in the fact table. The steps to do so is provided below:
Say you have the dimension table manager. You add a detail column in the hierarchy details under Project manager.
Now you go to the Fact table from where you are getting the data.
Step1> In The BMM layer of RPD click the + sign beside the projects fact table. It will list the columns and the sources folder.
Step2> click the + sign beside the sources.
Step3> Select the appropriate table from(for example projects) which you need the detail data.
Step4> Double click the source table. Go to Content tab.
Step5> In the Manger Dim table select the Detail column name in the logical level field.
Save the RPD and this will solve your issue.

  • Drilling down from Summary to detailed reporting.

    Hello all,
I am sure this can be done in BW but I just dont know how we can do it.
My client requirement is when we run a report on the cube we see all the totals for commitement item (we have cmmt item hierarchy that we are using) and then we are at a particular cmmt item for eg Office supplies the total being $1000 they want to double click on the cmmt item (drill down) to see all the transaction for that particular cmmt item.
How can this be achieved ? Can we use RRI for this?
    Someone please share some advice
    Thanks in adavnce.
    KM

    Hello,
When I am done with rsbbs. And I open the summary report in Bex Analyzer now I want to see detailed transactions for a particular cmmt item. Do I have to double click on it or Do i have to right mouse click and say Go to -> Detailed report?
I tried both the things, when I double click it says no applicable data available. and when i do go to-> detailed report it takes me to the report but it shows me everything rather than only transaction for that particular cmmt item. How do we make that happen so that it should know I want to see data only for the cmmt item i click on?
    Thanks,

  • Can Discoverer drill down include summary and details?

Let's say I have a set of bonds in different accounts.
Each bond has an account, product_type, rating_group and book_value.
I show an initial report with account and sum(book_value).
then I want to "Drill to related" to see the sum of book value by rating group.
When I do this, I no longer have the total book value for the whole account. I just have it for each rating group within the account. I want to be able to still see the sum of the book value for all rating groups and also see how it's broken out by rating group.
    For example:
    I start with this:
    Account | Book Value
    C-BASS | $1M
Then I drill to related -> "Rating Group" and it looks like this:
Account | Rating Group | Book Value
    C-BASS | AAA | $0.5M
    C-BASS | AA | $0.25M
    C-BASS | A | $0.25M
I want it to look like this (or something like this):
Account | Rating Group | Book Value
    C-BASS | All | $1M
    C-BASS | AAA | $0.5M
    C-BASS | AA | $0.25M
    C-BASS | A | $0.25M

  • Essvbase Drill down

Is it possible to drill down to Relational databases from Essbase hierarchy instead of navigation?
I have an Essbase dimension called "Time" that is spread accross four generations. The last generation Gen4 is month. I have the day details in the Fact table.
I established relationship between essbase and relational in LTS and i am able to navigate from essbase to realational sources. But is there a way to Drill down instead of navigation?? Can i make use of the Essbase hierarchy to drill down to realational fact details from Gen-4(It is the lowest level in essbase time dimension)??

  • Master detail view with drill down

I am trying to develop a simple app for my Ipad. This app is supposed to have a Master/details look and should behave similar to the native Mail app (2x levels of navigation and the last level updates the details view).
My problem is that I am not familiar to Apple IOS development so tend to get stuck all the time so I prefer to follow a tutorial or start with a sample project. I have searched for hours but I always either get a pure navigation drill down project without the details view or a pure master/details project with only a single level of navigation. I tried to take these projects and modify them but my knowledge sadly is very limited and I did not succeed.
So can anybody direct me to a tutorial or a sample project where a Mail like app is being built with more than 1 level of navigation ?

I have a GridBagLayout panel with a jtable and some jtextfield Well, we don't know exactly what constraints you have set up to its hard to say exactly why its happening.
In general, you should create your JTextField using new JTextField(int) and I think the problem will go away.
An easier solution would also be to use different LayoutManagers to achieve the desired layout.

  • KSB1 - Incorrect line item selected on drill down

    Dear Guru's
To set the scene we have been using KSB1 for a long time.  Now something odd is occuring - but what appears to be quite randomly.
When we run a standard KSB1 report and drill down to line item detail we are getting the wrong (and completely unassociated) detail.
We have not seen this happen before and wondered what could be causing it.
We are running KSB1 using parameters for Cost Centre, Cost Element (range) and Posting Date (range)
We are also using a plain layout variant.
If anyone else has seen this before advice would be appreciated.
    Regards

    points will be assigned

    Nitish,
We run KSB1 to show us how much has been spent by a certain cost centre during the financial period.  We would then usually double click on a certain line that appears high or overspent to see the detailed transaction.  In almost all circumstances you see the accounting document (eg: SA, KR etc)
But for some reason (and for a small percentage of items) when you double click you do not get shown the correct accounting document.
On these items when you double click to see more detail you get presented with an accounting document that does not match the original screen.  In some instances you get an accounting document that is several years old and for a completely different GL account and cost centre -eg: bearing no relation to you original query.
It's almost like the link to the correct accounting document is broken?
I could screen dump what it happening but as a newbie I don't know if this is allowed or would work on here.
    Regards.

  • Error: "Numeric value entered was too low " -drill down discoverer report

    Hi ,
We have created a Discoverer drill down report (drill down to another worksheet). We have two worksheets one for the master and and the other for the detail. The parameters are passed to detail sheet (The link information is set using the Manage links option in the Discoverer plus) from the master. This whole thing works fine in dev instance.
We imported the business area . Deleted the existing file and the opened the new .dis file from local computer and then saved it to db.
Now the master report runs fine and when we click on the drill down link for the detail we get the following error
An error occured while handling the event.See the application log for more details.
    - The numerical value entered was too low."
However the link works fine in plus and desktop in the same instance.
    Kindly help.
    Thanks,

  • Workflow Monitor Drill Down

    Hi,
Not sure if this problem is related to the OWB team, but
would definitely need to know if this has been experienced before.
We have OWB 9.2 running on a Oracle 9i R2 Database (9.2.0.5) with workflow 2.6.2. We have process flows
deployed and running properly. In the Workflow Monitor
we are not able to drill down to the sub process for some
reason. When we double click on the process, it dosen't
do anything. Normally, Workflow allows the drill down
    to the sub process.
Is this a restriction of OWB by any chance ?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
    Rgds,
    Sri

Hello, I have the same versions of OWB and Workflow. I observed this very behaviour, and explained it noticing that the subprocesses are really functions which call the processes. A process MYSUBPROCESS is called by a function named something like @MYSUBPROCESS, so I think it's impossible to drill down. In fact in the Monitor if you click on a sub process, the activity type is equal to "function" in the Definition tab -- instead of "process".

  • Rank function breaks drill down 11g

I have a simple drill down report standard hierarchy and am having a weird issue with the rank function.
This report works on 10g but the upgraded 11g version does not.
When I drill down past the 2nd level it adds an is null filter to the revenue column.  This is also the column we are using to base our rank function.
If I move the rank column to the first or last position in the table the drills work perfectly.  If I move it to the second column it breaks on the first drill instead of the 2nd.
It works perfectly if drilling on the headings instead of the values.  That seems to point to some sort of null coming through when being passed.  I've tried using an ifnull and a case statement and neither method works, it just applies the is null filter to the entire column formula.
The client doesn't want to change the position of the rank column so that work around will not do.  Any ideas?

A similar thread was recently talked about here:
In OBIEE charts, how do you make drill downs work on custom formulas?
With a calculated column, you need to make sure the source query and destination query have the EXACT same formula and the same name for the field. If it is not 100% identical, it may not work correctly. (I typically use the NAVIGATE function to get to the second query rather than the Drill function.)
Now in some cases, if you try to create a second drill down query with more details in it, the original formula doesn't work the way you want it to. The calculated formulas have to make sense in both source query and destination query in order to work properly. If you have a ranking of the Top 5 Products in the source query, the destination query also has to have the same ranking of Top 5 products in order to work. If you add more fields into the destination query (e.g., adding on product attributes, or # of records associated with that product name etc.), then sometimes the ranking / aggregation in the destination doesn't add up the same way. This causes the system to think that the formulas are different and prevents the drill down.
I managed to get around this by having a 3rd query in between the original summary view and the detailed data view. So the sequence would be (for example):
    - Dashboard based summary query (including the calculated ranked product names formula)
    - drill down into virtually identical query (add on one slight bit of difference here, for example adding on a second Product Name field ... not a calculated version, but the actual name). Create a drill down this time by clicking on the regular Product Name field (don't drill down on the custom formula)
    - final detailed drill-down query
You can format this intermediary drill down query to explain to users that they need to click a second time.
It's not ideal, but it should work. Hope this helps.

  • Create a link for a Dial (Percent) chart to allow drill down

    Hi,
I have a page with a number of 'Dial (Percent)' charts displayed. This acts as a dashboard to show pass/fail percentages for a number of data tests. I would like to be able to click on the dial and drill down to a report detailing the failing records.
As far as I can tell, the query syntax ofr a dial chart does not allow the definition of links. My quesry is therefore:
    select sum(case when fail_pass = 'PASS' THEN 1 else 0 end)    value,
             count(*)                                                                  max_value,
             0                                                                             low_value,
             sum(case when fail_pass = 'PASS' THEN 1 else 0 end)    high_value
    from
au_test1_vDoes anyone know how I can add a link to this chart?
    Thanks,
    Martin
Edited by: MartinF on Aug 19, 2010 1:01 PM

    Hi Martin,
Ahh that's a pity, 'cos the Action Link option was only added with APEX 4.0. With the Flash 3 dial chart, as supported in APEX 3.2.1, there's no support to add a link to the pointer of the chart. I'm not sure if this would work in your case, but if you really want a link on your dial chart, then you could try including the link within the Region Source of your chart, as suggested in this related thread:Re: Flash Chart: Dial Chart to open popup webpage :
To link from a Dial Chart, simply open the Region Definition page. In the Region Source place an anchor tag around the <object> tags as follows:
    <a href="http://www.oracle.com" target="_self">
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
         codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"
         width="#WIDTH#"
         height="#HEIGHT#"
    </embed>
    </object>
    #CHART_REFRESH#
</a>So the link would be applied to the whole region as opposed to just the dial pointer. Again, I'm not sure if this workaround will do the trick for you, but unforunately I don't know of any other way to achieve this with the AnyChart 3 dial chart. Maybe it's a good enough reason to upgrade to our latest release? :-)

  • Problem creating Drill-Down report

    Hi,
I have problem in creating a drill-down report, got confused how to do it. this is my requirement.
The main portion that will be first displayed contains a group on match_code and has its own detail section. now when the user selects one of these match_code it should drill down to give more information about this match_code, so the Drill down should also have its own detail section that will be hide and drilldown ok.
If this the proper way to do it. I will be creating a drill down report for the first time.
    Thanks,
    Reena

    Hello Reena,
If I understand your situation correctly you have a group on match_code and a details and b section. You want the Group Header and Details a sections to appear on the first "page" or drilldowngrouplevel 0. When the user drills down you want the Details b section to appear.
You can do that using the drilldowngrouplevel function.
Set the details b section to suppress when drilldowngrouplevel = 0, this section will only appear after drilldown.
I am not sure if you still want the details a or group sections to appear after drilldown, if you do then there is no need for conditional suppression. If you don't then use a conditional suppression formula for those sections of drilldowngrouplevel <> 0

  • How to group by a number of visible rows in drill down report

    hi,
i have a drill down report with no detail row.
I need to control the number of rows shown on the page based on a variable that a user supplies, however it  needs to be only visible rows.
if I add an outmost group based on an expression like this one:
    =Ceiling(RowNumber(
    "table1")/Parameters!recordsPerPage.Value)
it will count all rows - visible or not.
    any help would be appreciated.
    thanks
    Inna

    Hi Inna,
Based on my research, a drilldown report is a layout design that at first hides complexity and enables the user to toggle conditionally hidden report items to control how much detail data they want to see. Drilldown reports are used to change the report
layout interactively. So it wouldn’t affect the rows displayed in the outmost group. Though some rows are hidden when the report is initially run, it will still count them. This is by design.
Furthermore, if I understand correctly, you also expect the outmost group is a dynamic group depends on the drilldown action, right? As per my understanding, this function still cannot be achieved at this moment.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Pie-chart drill-down

    Hi,
I have created a pie chart on my report. I want it so that the user can double click on a segment of the pie and drill-down to view some detailed logs. The logs just being a list of details from the records like "name" "age" etc.
I have read some stuff on subreports and linking, but im not quite sure wether this is the way to do this or if there is an easierway without all that subreport linking malarchy.
Is there an easier way? and if so, could you please provide me with a step-by-step as im fairly new to this whole crystal reports thingamajig. Thanks
    J

    Hi James
You can get a drill down on your pie chart once you apply groups in your report and create chart based on those groups.
For example: I create a report to display the last year sales for all the cities in a country. I want a drill down onmy pie chart for the cities. I do the below:
    1. I create two groups on Contry and City.
    2. Now I create a pie chart. In Data tab of Chart expert select the group for City in On change of, and show value Last year sales.
3.Place the chart on group header of Country group.
    4. Refresh the report, now I would get the drill down for the cities for every country in the Pie chart.
For more information please refer to Crystal Reports Help.
    Hope this helps!!!

  • RRI pass Characteristic value without being drilled down

    Hi BW'ers,
I am using Report to Report interface to jump from one report to another. Everything seems to work fine, untill I have a mandatory variable in the receiver report.
The receiver report has a mandatory variable for characteristic 0MRP_CONTRL. The sender has this characteristic as a 'free one', but <b>not drilled down</b> in the query.
When the user goes to the the receiver report, the values of 0MRP_CONTRL are not passed through.
So I would like to know: How can the values be passed to the receiver without being drilled down? In fact the system should check the valid 0MRP_CONTRL values (as it should be in drill down status) and pass them to the receiver.
I tried every possible combination of transaction rsbbs, but not a lot of success.
Hope someone knows the answer. It would be a great help!
    Best regards,
    Bart

    Hello Bart,
"In fact the system should check the valid 0MRP_CONTRL values (as it should be in drill down status) and pass them to the receiver." ... You just mentioned that 0MRP_CONTROL is a free char and not drilled down. What is the exact situation?
