Drilldowns in BI Publisher report embedded within dashboard

Have created a BI Publisher report in MS-Word, used hyperlinks for drilling down to the lowest level of detail.
When this report is embedded in dashboard the drilldown links are working correctly but they are opening as BI Publisher report (getting all the controls available OBI Publisher) not as dashboard page.
Is there any possiblity to drilldown in BI Publisher (viewed as HTML) using expand and collapse button like structure?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Baddam

Hopefully this blog article by Tim Dexter will help: http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2007/01/formatting_html_with_templates.html

  • BI Publisher report in OBIEE Dashboard

    Hi,
I have a BI Publisher report that consists of:
    -SQL Based Report
    -Has 2 date parameters
This report is independent of any data source OBIEE, ie there is no repository for the data shown in the BI Publisher report.
I need to show this report in OBIEE dashboard with parameters. The report should get a parameter from a prompt / dynamic var.
I have understood according, there are two methods for achieving this:
    1. Create a BI Publisher Report using BI Answers report as the data source wherein the BI Answers report would have one of the column’s filter clause as “is prompted”.
    2. Create a BI Publisher Report using BI Answers/Database as data source. Create a parameter for the BI Publisher report and then match this parameter name while assigning the presentation variable for the dashboard prompt.
But I can not implement this, because my BI Publisher report is independent of any data source OBIEE.
There a way to solve this?
    Thanks in advance!

When you create the parameter in Report, and embed that in BIPublisher report section, it will display the parameter in the embedded content itself.
see, if you can make use of this.

  • How to link to a BI publisher report in a dashboard

I'm trying to link a BIP PDF report in a dashboard but I'm being prompted to login to BIP.
I have SSO setup so that if I click on more products -> BI publisher it takes me right into BI Publisher. it uses url
    https://xxx:7777/analytics/saw.dll?AdvancedReports&_scid=S3p7sdfasdM
    which then redirects to
    https://xxx:7777/xmlpserver/servlet/report
If I try to link a report in the dashboard I use the url
    https://xxx:7777/xmlpserver/servlet/report/Plans/Plans.xdo?_xpf=&_xpt=0&_xdo=%2FRecovery_Plans%2FPlans.xdo&PROJECT_CODE=200000&_xt=2000000&_xf=pdf&_xmode=4
when I use this link it goes to the BI publisher login page. If I enter the username and password it takes me to the report.
If I completely logout and try again this time with a twist it works.
If I click on more products -> BI publisher ... it takes me to BI publisher. then if I click back and then try the same url that did not work in the previous example it works this time.
I guess my thought is that we are not using the right URL to call a report from inside BIEE dashboard and not be prompted for a login.
    Thanks for your help.

You have to use the BI Publisher report object in a dashboard. You have then a link option.
You will then remark that the link call a javascript object to made use of the SSO capabilities.

  • BI publisher report on OBIEE dashboard in a particular format

    Hi All ,
We have a situation wherer we need to show a BI Publisher report on the OBIEE dashboard .
The Dashboard has a prompt on 'Year' and 'Quarter'.The issue we are facing is ,based on the prompt value the report column header should also change.
    e.g :
    Year=2003 , Quarter=3
It should give us the revenue for different Products for last four quarter :
    Product----------------------2003 Q3---------2002 Q4--------2002 Q3--------2002 Q2---------20002 Q1
    Airconditioner----------------100----------------200----------------300--------------400-----------------234
    Refrigerator-------------------145----------------208----------------350--------------467-----------------264
    Example 2 :
    Year=2004 , Quarter=4
It should give us the revenue for different Products for last four quarter :
    Product----------------------2004 Q4---------2004 Q3--------2004 Q3--------2004 Q1---------2003 Q4
    Airconditioner----------------100----------------200----------------300--------------400-----------------234
    Refrigerator-------------------145----------------208----------------350--------------467-----------------264
How can we acheive this column header.
    Please advice.
    Thanks!!

    Hi,
based on the prompt value the report column header should also change. You want to change the value of the column heading dynamically based on prompt. You will get this by using the Presentation variable. So,you have to integrate both the bi publisher+rpd.

  • BI Publisher report in OBIEE Dashboards

Is there a way to generate the view the BI Publisher report automatically, currently it is asking the user to click the View Report button , "Click View Report to generate report"!
    Appreciate your suggestions.
    Regards
    Bees

Have you selected 'Auto Run' option under Report -> Properties for the report? That should allow you to view output without clicking the view buttion. However, it will use the default parameters..
Is your report parameterized? If so, users will have to select/modify the parameter selection and click view to view the results..
    Thanks!

  • BI publisher reports LOV paramter is not working in Dashboard

    All,
I have a BI publisher report with parameters list of values. The publisher report is working fine when I run the report and select one or 2 more more values form this (LOV) parameters.
Now I created new dashboard prompt with presentation variable set to the same name as the above parameter in publisher. Added both this dashboard prompt and BI publisher report on the dashboard page. everything works as long as I select only 1 value from this parameter. As soon as I select more than one value I get error. After checking in the log file I see this error

  • Issues with BI publisher report in dashboard

    Hello all,
I got some issues about BI publisher reports in a dashboard.
I use a dashboard prompt in combination with a BIP report.
1.) I don't want to see the publisher control bar in my dashboard. Now you can't view the report anymore after using the dashboard prompt. Because it says you have to press the view button which is on the publisher control bar.
So when I add the bar. Then I have first to press on go in the dashboard prompt and after that I have to press on view in the publisher control bar.
2.) When I open my dashboard I see a scroll bar in my BIP report. Now when I use the dashboard prompt, it disappears. So I can't view the entire report anymore
3.) I like to develop in english, but the test must be in dutch. Now I have a english dashboard with a dutch control bar. Also logging in to BIP in english and then navigating to analytics will not help.
    4.) I can't use I-bots on BI publisher reports, or can I?
5.) This is not really an issue, but more like a problem but I want that users can view the BIP report on the dashboard only in HTML, but I want that they only can export to excel, is this possible?
    Hoping for some answers ;)
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Venkat,
    Thanks for your quick respond.
1.) Auto Run is enabled. And the report runs automatically as well. But then it ignores the dashboard prompt (as a regular report would do as well). But when I choose some values in the prompt and then press go. Then it says I have to press on view as well.
2.) no that is not the case. My report is so big that it always need a scroll bar ;) also adjusting the size settings in the dashboard doesn't help. The only occurs when viewing in HTML, when previewing in excel or RTF it all just work fine.
3.) true, but ow well this is the least importetant one ;) so if this doesn't work, than it doesn't work ;)
4.) Ok, I will have a look on that.
5.) I did enabled HTML and EXCEL outputs in my BIP report. But when the first point is working, then I don't want to see the control bar anymore and I want to have the output on the dashboard in HTML and then I want to build a button, or a link or something that exports the request to excel. Is that possible?

  • BI Publisher report - Dashboard Integration Issue

    Hi,
I have a problem when trying to display a Publisher Report at Analytics Dashboard.
I'm working in OBIEE 11g. I like integrate the BI publisher to show the result set on Analysis (Answers), so, I used presentation variables to send the dashboard prompts values.
The problem is that sometimes, when I select a value in the prompt, display "loading" process, but never displayed the data. (I noticed that the browser above shows an error related to a javascript - something like Expected ')' URI: <server>/xmlpserver/js/xdo_viewer_dreamscape)
    Thanks
    Dag.

    Dag,
I would first ensure that you can pass the parameters correctly without using a presentation variable. Just make sure it works with the basics.
Also ensure that you are integrating the parameter passing correctly. Follow this guide to ensure your passing of parameters is taking place correctly,
    http://www.biconsultinggroup.com/oraclebiblog/2009/7/3/bi-publisher-and-obiee-integration-with-dashboards-prompts.html
    That should work.
    Let me know.

  • Add publisher report to dashboard

    Hi all
in 10g there was an option to add a BI publisher report to a dashboard.
I do not see that link in 11g. Does anybody know if this is still possilbe?
I want to try and click on a id number in one dashboard tab and have it link to a publisher report that accepts the parameter in another tab.
Currently i have set up a dashboard prompt that sets a presentation variable. This PV is the same name as the parameter in the publisher report.
Having trouble getting this going. Has anybody seen a good link / tutorial on how to integrate these two in 11g?
    Thanks

Thank you! it is what i was looking for.
Reading through the docs it appears that when I should be able to see my publisher reports in the catalog view.
when i log in to OBIEE i only see the analysis that I created in OBIEE under the catalog tree.
I have to log into publisher to see my publisher reports.
According to the docs i should be able to see my publisher reports in the catalog view. And then just drag and drop one.
Any idea how I can see the publisher reports when I log into Business Intelligence??
    Thanks

  • BI Publisher Report can only seen when logged in as Admin

    Hi gurus,
We have OBIEE is set up on Windows 2003 server and configured to use Active Directory (AD) authentication. In one of the dashboards, we have a BI Publisher Report embedded. This was working fine until we configured the BI Server to use AD.
After the AD config, when logged in any user other than Administrator, the BI Publisher reprot throws up the error " Login Failed. Please contact Administrator for Username & Password".
All the required roles have been created on BI Server and granted to the requird users. I am at loss with this error.
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Regards

Did you create an Open Firmware password as well? If not then just insert the OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive and restart the computer. After the chime press and hold down the 'C' key until the spinning gear appears below the dark gray Apple logo.

  • BI Published Reports vs. OBIEE Analyses

We have OBIEE 11g integrated with BI Publisher. One of the things we're struggling with is when to use an OBIEE Analysis vs. a BI Publisher Report in our dashboards, especially since BI Publisher reports can call data in the presentation/analysis layer to get its data.
BI Pub seems to offer some beautiful flash-based 3D charts. Does anyone have an experience on decision criteria as to when to use one tool vs. the other?
    Much appreciated.
    thank you.

  • Dashboard autorun of BI publisher report

We have a BI publisher report which is set NOT to auto run in BI Publisher. This report is embeded in OBIEE dashboard.
    Problem:
Whenever user navigates to the dashboard, it autoruns with default settings. Is there a to stop the auto in the dashboard so that it only runs when user clicks on the "Go" in the prompt.

Try Stijn's approach at the end of this thread... It'll work.

    Vaidya,
Let me rephrase what you are looking for...
    1. You dont want to embed the Webdynpro link into the template but would rather embed it as an object
    2. You want to run the web dynpro when the WAD page is launched...
    This is for 7.0 right..?
As for embedding the web dynpro as an object as opposed to a link ...? any reasons why - is it because you dont want users to see the link in the HTML source ...?
Even if they do - I am not sure how web dynpros work ( rusty on that front ) but then you should get a session ID when you launch the web dynpro right ..? which would obviate any reasons for the users to see the link
Possibly have it included as a button using Javascript ..?
If you want the webdynpro to launch when the WAD runs - then you could have an onload function in javascript that can do the same....
