Drive Sharing Problem at windows 7

windows cannot access th specified

Hi,
For permission settings, make sure that you have full control pemission on "NTFS"(security) and "sharing", from your description, seems that you only have a "read" permission on this shared folder, if you only have "read" permission, then you can successfully
create shortcut of this folder, access it but will get "Access Denied" when "Save as..." to that shared folder.
If you're an IT pro and want to deploy the mapped drive for many users, then you can follow this guide

  • Drive Mapping problem in Windows 7 Professional

We have Windows 7 Professional 32 & 64 bit installed on clients and Windows server 208 R2 Domain.
Since a long time I am facing problem in mapping drives on clients. If I map from User Account under Active Directory, it shows the mapped drive, but if I try to map any other drive manually it asks username and password. If i provide username and password
it says Access Denied. The problem only occurs on user log-in not in Administrator's log-in. Even-if I make the user Administrator, the problem appears.
The surprising thing is that user has full rights on the shared folder and if accesses it by double clicking under user log-in, I can access it. I can make short cut of it, I can access by \\servername\sharename and \\serverip\sharename under user rights.
If I try to "Save As..." any file to that folder, it says Access Denied, but I can copy and paste it manually.
I have searched a lot on Google and tried several steps like changing registry, providing full access rights on registry, but no success. In new installation also the problem appears. I am not able to sorting out it is from Server side or Client side. There
is no update on Client PC, but on server we have regular updates.
If anybody has come across such problem and found any solution please help me to get rid of it.
    Thanks,
    Dhavall.

  • File sharing problem fixed - Windows XP HOME

I, like many other posters on this board, was having a problem with my computers sharing files on my home network. I worked for days trying to figure it out before calling my "guru" cousin to help. He checked everything on the network and found it to be set up correctly. Next he googled the error message I was getting and found a solution at:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;177078
Apparently my Norton anti-virus software had made some registry changes, and was not allowing my computers to share files, even though "share files" had been checked. Once he followed the instructions at this link, my computers are playing nice again! Hope this helps someone. Kathy PS: I use Windows XP Home Edition and Norton SystemWorks 2006.

I doubt that your keyboard died. To get back to OS X try a PRAM reset; after starting up, HOLD Option-Command(Apple)-P-R keys down until you get the apple boot chime - should reset things nicely.
As per the Windows install problem; not sure, but sounds like dud keyboard driver on the disk? The install disks don't seem to tolerant of faults.
    Good luck

  • AMD GPU. Driver update problem. Windows 7, BootCamp 5

    Hey .
First I describe my problems, then what I've tried and at the bottom are my computer specs.
I have an old driver for my video card , I am reminded of this when I start modern games such as Battlefield 4
When I start Battlefield 4 a window opens that says which model of the driver I have installed and that I should switch to a newer, and the latest driver model number is then specified .
I have tried to update by :
    1. Windows update . No such updates are there
    2. Go into the Control Panel , gone into the display settings ( through the " change screen resolution " ) , advanced tab, the video card , properties, driver tab, and finally update the driver. With the election "search automatically". Then I get the message. " You already have the latest drivers installed ."
    3. Download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website ( amd ) and then implement step 2 ( above), but choose option : choose driver software on your computer. Then select the folder where I downloaded the files from the manufacturer's website . Then I get the same message from option 2.
    4. Download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website and then run the file I downloaded . The same message comes from the game (battlefield 4) that I do not have the latest drivers installed . Although the final page in the driver-installation said: your drivers are updated. Restarting the computer does not help me off with the problem.
Uninstall the existing driver is a possible solution . However, not reliable to me. Am worried that no drivers can be installed and that I will be stuck without any driver because i Did it once and could not install the new drivers and was then forced to reinstall BootCamp because they provide drivers for eg graphics cards, mice, keyboards and so on. However, these are updated from apple's side once every 3 years, and usually in conjunction with driver issues or updates. Not like these " imperfections " that I have.
Any other options than to uninstall the drivers and hope it goes to install new from the drivers website?
    My technical data:
Computer: iMac (purchased newest model in June 2012 )
Operating System: Windows 7 64bit , through BootCamp 5 from Mac os Mountain Lion.
Graphics card: Amd Radeon 6700m 512mb
    Current driver: 13.9

I had the exact same problem and i just got this to work. Go to my computer and then right click on the disc image. Then double click on bootcamp and then setup and that should work.

  • File sharing problem between Windows 7 & Lion

I am running a windows 7 laptop and my mac mini with 10.7.
I have a single file share setup on the mac which is NTFS based (confirmed permissions are read/write).
I am unable to connect to the Mac from the windows computer.  When I enter \\192.168.1.102\sharename I am prompt to enter the mac's login account info. When I enter the only account info I have it stays in a loop and I never log in.  It was working fine in Snow Leo.
Here is what I am also seeing on the File sharing prefs on the mac:
Even after entering the correct password several times, it still tells me its incorrect.  I have reset the password a couple of times to make sure it wasn't that and rebooted a few times and still the same thing.
    Other things I have tried"
    - Disabled firewall on the Mac
    - Disabled / Enabled File sharing and removing / readding the shares again (rebooting afterwards)
    All didn't make any difference.
Not sure why it works on Snow and now not on Lion.
    Please help!
    Thanks,

I am having the same problem. Have been searching the web for a solution, as well as posting to several Mac forums.
I found the link shown below which gives a procedure that is supposed to work:
    http://www.trickyways.com/2011/07/file-sharing-mac-os-x-lion-and-pc-windows-7/
However, it doesn't work for me. When I get to Step #6 and enter my password, I keep getting an "Incorrect Password" notification. Also, when I try to do Step #9, the "Windows Security" window never appears - in fact, nothing at all happens.
By the way, I am able to see my Windows 7 shared folders on my MBP, but cannot see my MBP shared folders on my Windows 7 system. Worked fine under Snow Leopard.
I'm bookmarking this forum and will check back if anyone can come up with a solution. I assume this is a bug in Lion and have reported it to Apple.

  • Home Sharing problem with Windows 7

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has encountered the following issue. I have home sharing setup between 4 computers. One is a Mac with 10.6.2, one is a Windows XP box and two are Windows 7 boxes. Home sharing works perfectly between Mac, Windows 7, and Windows XP. However the two Windows 7 boxes have an issue. When you click on the home icon for a Windows 7 box from the other Windows 7 box it disappears. This only happens between the Windows 7 boxes. All other combinations work. The windows 7 boxes are both 64-bit. Any one have any ideas? I tried re-installing bonjour, turning off sharing and re-enabling, etc. to no avail. Thanks.

Yes. I have read all those posts and tried all the suggestions. The funny thing is that the problem occurs for me only for sharing between the two Windows 7 computers. It works between Windows 7 and Windows XP, Windows 7 and Mac OSX, Windows XP and Mac OSX. It must be Windows 7 specific for me and I have yet to figure it out. Firewall is not a problem because I have tried with all security features turned off and it does exactly the same thing. My work around is to share to either the Windows XP computer or the Mac computer and then share to the Windows 7 box. I am hoping to see a possible fix in the next iTunes when it comes.

  • SHARING COMPATIBILITY PROBLEM IN WINDOWS 7

    HI
we have an accounting software very old 2003 model, we use it only to review old database , this software use a share folder (company file folder) (we mapped to Z drive in all machine) it was located in windows server 2003, and every machine will pull the
    information for Z drive
I transferred this share folder from the windows server 2003 to windows 7 pro , and sharing exactly the same, with all permission given (everyone full control) and sharing permission as well, and the we face the following problems :
every windows xp client runs the application work perfectly without any problems.
when you open that application for windows 7 machine, even the Z drive is accessible it will tell you the folder location cannot be found, but if you go to the Z drive, and you open that company folder exactly like if you are looking at the folder contents
and keep windows file explorer open, then you open the client application at the same time will work perfectly ,
if I close that folder window, I can keep using that software until I close it then cannot open again..
so the application will only open when a specific folder is open
if I map the Z drive on the same machine contain the file, it will work
when I called someone knows about the software, he told they were doing something in windows registry to solve this but he don't remember what
     anyone can help ?

    Hi,
Can you run the application without any problems in Safe Mode with networking? If it works, I suspect that the issue is caused by your security programs or firewall.
You may also try running this program with compatibility mode by the steps below:
    1. Right click the program's shortcut or the executive file and then click Properties.
    2. On the Compatibility tab, check "Run this program in compatibility mode for".
    3. Select the Windows xp in the pull down list.
In addition, you may take a look at the following article:
Mapped Drive Connection to Network Share May Be Lost
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297684
However, if the issue persists, please contact the application vendor and confirm whether there is any update for their product.
    Hope it helps.

  • Screen sharing drive access problem

I have a Mac Mini I'm using as a media server. This mini has 2 hard drives and Mavericks installed in it.   When I access the mini via screen sharing from my MacBook Air, if an no longer access the 2nd hard drive.  It appears, and I can open the hard drive, but I can't access the folders on the hard drive. I can't access anything on that drive using applications, either.
This wasn't a problem using Mountain Lion.  Any tips on how to fix this?  All of my permissions are still set up correctly as they were before.
    Thanks,
    Bryan

    Hey Guys,
I'm having this EXACT same problem, using this exact model of Belkin Wireless G Router: F5D7234-4 v4
We're both running the most current version of OS X, and when the user who is on the Belkin router plugs her MBP directly into her Comcast cable modem, everything works perfectly.
So given that the issue lies within the Belkin, I have remotely logged into the router and tried every possible combination of enabling and disabling:
    - UPnP
    - WMM
    - Firewall
    - QoS Monitoring
After doing this, we're still only getting audio whenever we try to screen share. As with the original post, we will start the screen sharing process, the window will say "starting screen sharing with....", but then we will only have audio.
Is my only other option to go through, set a static IP for this user, and setup all of the port forwarding per this article?

Thanks in advance for anyone's help!!

I have a tesco router and an external hard drive attached to it as a network drive (shared) for my macbook and MB-Air. Have no problems with my MB accessing it, but with MB-AIR it says -  'the version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported. pls contact your system administrator to resolve the problem'. MB-Air uses maverick downloaded yesterday - upgrade from mountain lion. MB uses snow leopard still, as i am quite used to it and am thinking of upgrade if mavericks work fine on air. Also have parallel on snow leopard but it is no longer supported according to mac website - if i upgrade am i going to lose my parallel and will have to buy a new one!!!

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

  • Display driver has recommended a problem for windows 7

hey !! i have dell  vostro 1015 and everyday  my laptop hangs a lot and the display driver has stopped responding. i have tried all the things to fix the display driver problem . please suggest me some options .

In order to assist you, we will need the .DMP files to analyze what exactly occurred at the time of the crash, etc.
If you don't know where .DMP files are located, here's how to get to them:
    1. Navigate to the
    %systemroot%\Minidump folder.
    2. Copy any and
all DMP files in the Minidump folder to your Desktop and then zip up these files.
    3. Upload the zip
containing the .DMP files to Onedrive or a hosting site of your choice and paste in your reply. Prefered sites: Onedrive, Mediafire, Dropbox, etc. Nothing with wait-timers.
    4 (optional): The
type of .DMP files located in the Minidump folder are known as Small Memory Dumps. In %systemroot% there will be what is known as a Kernel-Dump (if your system is set to generate). It is labeled MEMORY.DMP. The difference between Small Memory Dumps and Kernel-Dumps
in the simplest definition is a Kernel-Dump contains much more
information at the time of the crash, therefore allowing further debugging of your issue. If your upload speed permits it, and you aren't going against any strict bandwidth and/or usage caps, etc, the Kernel-Dump is the best choice. Do note that Kernel-Dumps
are much larger in size due to containing
much more info, which is why I mentioned upload speed, etc.
If you are going to use Onedrive but don't know how to upload to it, please visit the following:
Upload photos and files to Onedrive.
Please note that any "cleaner" programs such as TuneUp Utilities, CCleaner, etc, by default will delete .DMP files upon
    use.
If your computer is not generating .DMP files, please do the following:
    1. Start > type
%systemroot% which should show the Windows folder, click on it. Once inside that folder, ensure there is a Minidump folder created. If not, CTRL-SHIFT-N to make a New Folder and name it Minidump.
    2. Windows key +
Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Ensure there's a check-mark for 'Automatically manage paging file size for all drives'.
    3. Windows key +
Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings > System Failure > ensure there is a check mark next to 'Write an event to the system log'.
Ensure Small Memory Dump is selected and ensure the path is %systemroot%\Minidump.
    4. Double check
    that the WERS is ENABLED:
Start > Search > type services.msc > Under the name tab, find Windows Error Reporting Service > If the status of the service is not Started then right click it
and select Start. Also ensure that under Startup Type it is set to Automatic rather than Manual. You can do this by right clicking it, selecting properties, and under General selecting startup type to 'Automatic', and then click Apply.

  • Problems installing Windows 7 with boot camp, cant find the cd/dvd driver...

I´m having some problems installing Windows 7 on my new 12,1 (21,5) iMac with boot camp. When the computer restarts and the Windows 7 setup begins, i get the message that the cd/dvd driver cant be found, so i can't continue the installation. I've tried searching online for the driver, but can't find it. The cd/dvd seems to be a OPTIARC cd/dvd ad-5690h, which seems to be produced by Sony. I have a authentic windows 7. I even tried loading everything ver to a usb-drive, but then it wont boot.

After reading around on this, and other forums I tried to burn a new dvd at reduced speed(2x), but that did'nt work either... I have an authentic windows 7 iso, downloaded with serial, is there any way to boot this from a jump drive or external hdd?

  • Windows Sharing problem from WLC 5508 to wired LAN

    Dear All,
I'm having problem with windows sharing (file/printer sharing) from Wireless lan client which is connected to AP3500 and
WLC 5508 then to Nexus 7010. It's already using ip command, for example \\192.168.84.65
WLC os version 7.0.116.0 (using AP groups)
    Nexus os version 4.2(6)
The weird thing is i can connect using windows sharing from wired LAN to wireless user however not vice versa.
for better explanation, here are the scenarios
    1. Wireless lan to wired LAN using windows sharing - failed
    1. Wired LAN to Wireless lan using windows sharing - success.
I've been analyzing by making sure that all the to end, there would be no firewall within source pc(s) and destination pc(s) and also
    the ACL inside Nexus.
Been dying here to find solution for this, due to the customer is using it for file and printer sharing service.
Anyone has idea to solve this problem, i'm looking forward for any suggestion coming.
    Arrai.

Peer to peer within wlc is using default setting which is allowed and as you may know, peer to peer permission only related between wireless client not wired one. CMIIW.

Driver problems with Windows Professional XP 64bit Edition

Well, after looking around the forum here I found an answer that works! I wish I could remember who to give credit too though. I installed the latest Vista drivers and I got static all the time. I tried another members suggestion of disabling the X-Fi device in the Device manager every time I log off and then enable the X-Fi the next time I log in. I have great sound as long as I do that. Also, for connecting to a home system I am using the DTS-60, $00 on this website, but it works well if you havea DTS decoder. I am using the X-Fi extreme Music edition. Good Luck, hopefully another driver is on the way.
