Driver can't communicate with new officejet pro 8610 for scanning

I just bought a new officejet pro 8610. Followed all directions and set up with wireless connection. Prints fine but will not scan. Will not work if used at control panel on printer or software. First tried it on a windows 7 machine. Just tried on a new windows 8.1 machine - same problem. Very frustrating. Have done the HP scanner doctor and when it gets to driver it says scanner driver can't communicate to product. Used disk and then went to HP web site and downloaded latest software and drivers - still does not work.
I'm about ready to take the printer back but am open to any ideas.

It is possible you have a firewall or antivirus that is blocking the scan communication. Printing is considered outgoing and is not considered a threat, but because scanning is incoming communication, an antivirus or firewall could be blocking it to protect the computer.
If you have Norton, take a look at the following link; I cannot configure or access a network printer or other devices after I install my Norton product.
I found this in a post by @Norton_Support . If you have a different Anti Virus program, let me know and we will work through this together to come to a solution. Thanks.

Mac OS X Won't Print Card Stock on Brand New OfficeJet Pro 8610 e AiO

Hi All - I print cardstock all the time and just purchased a new OfficeJet Pro 8610 eAiO from Best Buy 2 days ago. The salesman told me it was the best option for cardstock printing and the specs say it can handle 110lbs cardstock. It is hooked up and printed a couple standard paper pages nicely. But when I put in the cardstock, it made all the noises like it was printing, but then "Load Paper" shows up on the LCD screen. We have tried unplugging it, but that doesnt do anything. After a little bit of fiddling with the tray (pushing and pulling on all tabs and springs we see), we put the tray back in and then it prints. But we have to do this with every print request. I have read to select "heavy paper or card stock" in the printer properties and to disable tray 2. I dont have a tray 2 on my printer (that I am aware of at least). And I dont see an option for printer properties for me to change anything. Does anyone have directions for this process? Also - I read that the printer may work if it is kept nearly full of paper? Has anyone had success with this? Any help is appreciated.

Checking over the printer's specifications, found at this website. HP Officejet Pro 8610, 8620, 8630, 8640, and 8660 e-All-in-One Printer Series Printer Specifications. This is a supported paper size at 8.5 x 11, if the paper type is Index Card Letter.
I also would recommend trying the solutions within this guide. An 'Out of Paper' Message Displays on the Control Panel and the All-in-One Does Not Pick Up Paper. Again please, try a custom size print to see if that will work. Create Custom Paper Sizes in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Mac OS X.

Can not update firmware on Officejet Pro 8610

Can't update firmware on Officejet Pro 8610, Hp update site shows available firmware update needed, disabled firewall, shut off wireless, run program, window for update appears, but checkbox greyed out. I've talked to HP Tech, He was positive newer firmware was available, I've tried starting in safe mode w/networking, disabled, MS Security essentials turned off,etc. Have Dell Dimension, excellent running, Windows 7 Home Premium, Xfinity cable network modem (very fast), I'm getting frustrated.

Before we start I have a request.
Press Setup on the front panel of the printer, and select Reports. In the reports menu select Print Status report. On that report, please let me know what firmware version is listed.

OK...now I appear to 'progressed' I changed my email address back to original on Apple id and then was able to delete icloud account. Apparently I couldnt do it as it kept requesting password when I entered passsword ( both old and new one, it wouldnt accept it as it had my old email address in ) It didnt do that on ios6 . Anyway I deleted account, but now I tried to login in with my new id/password and it says unable as already in use!!! More help needed please! Its a nightmare!!

Getting MAC OS10.10.1 to communicate with Office Jet Pro 8610

My printer works fine in the internet and copy modes. It automatically downloads upgrades. When I first set it up, everything worked fine, both in harwire version and wireless. Then for some reason it quit working, as I was getting a "printer is not connected" message on the print screen. I then threw all HP divers into the trash and reinstalled frm the HP site the latest driver. Same result. I then tried to deinstall, but when I opened the HP folder, there was no "deinstall" . Could you please tell me how to correct this, as Ihave now had the printer a couple of months, without being abl to use it. Regards, Ron

I'd like to help you with the communication issues you are having between your HP Officejet Pro 8610 and your Mac running OS X 10.10. I am assuming you are attempting to connect wirelessly, since you mentioned that the internet functions on your printer are already working fine. Please feel free to correct me if this is not the case. The easiest way to confirm that both the mac and printer are properly connected to your network is to see if you can access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS). On the home screen of the printer touch the Wireless icon.Make a note of your IP address.On your Mac open the Safari browser.Type the IP address (ex.10.0.0.9) into the address bar and press Enter.Does your printer's page come up?You can also try doing a network power reset to refresh the network connection for both devices. Let's leave the router on and unplug the power cable (NOTE: Do not reset the router.), then do the same with the printer, and shut down the computer. After a full minute, plug the router back in, wait for it to fully power up, then plug the printer back in and wait for the wireless light to become solid. Once both the router and printer are on, go ahead and turn the computer back on. Doing this will refresh the network connection. More troubleshooting steps, if you can access the printer's EWS, but unable to add to your Printers and Scanners can be found here: HP Printers - 'Printer Offline' or 'Printer Not Responding' Message (OS X) Please respond to let me know if this helped to resolve your issue.

Unable to Communicate with Printer-OfficeJet Pro 8500 A910g

I have used this printer for two years. I suddenly started getting the "unable to communicate with printer" message. I have turned printer on and off, turned wireless on and off, turned computer on and off and uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. It keeps happening. The printer window shows that it is offline, but there is no option to make it online. I used the IP address the printer shows when I set it up. I am at my wit's end. Help!

InFocus X2 Can't Connect with New MacBook Pro

I'm trying to use my old (but reliable) InFocus X2 projector with a new MacBook Pro I recently purchased. I have the correct adapter (mini-port), but the inFocus X2 is just not able to find the mac. It just shows "searching...."
The X2 projector shows up on my "Detect Displays" window on the Mac.
Any "words of wisdom?" I was able to connect to this projector with my two older macbooks okay.

Me three. Does not work at all, extremely frustrating for an educator who relies heavily on this technology

Problems with hp officejet pro 8610 printing labels

I have a new HP offficejet Pro 8610 less than 6 months old. I was printing address lables (Avery 8160) and everything seemed fine after the first group then when I started the second set they were out of alignment I readjusted the paper and tried again to print and I get a message that there is a problem with printer or the the paper is not the wrong size for the job and its the same paper so thats not it I tried shutting everything down and starting over and it allowed me to print one and it was perfect but when I tried to print another it went back to same message wrong paper size I am still using same size paper I am using Avery 8160 labels and that is the size on the avery website I am printing from. Any help is much appreciated thank you.

I would have to agree that the issue is within Microsoft Windows 7 regarding the printing issue with the Officejet L7780. Since the printer will print fine when using Ubuntu, it would appear there is an issue with the drivers and or software on Windows 7.
Have you tried using the Print and Scan Dr? This will look into the drivers, software, etc on the computer and attempt to resolve on its own. Let me know what the results are when you run it.
You could try the steps in this HP guide: Installing an Alternate Print Driver in Windows 7 for a USB Cable Connection. The L7780 does not display in the document but it will work with the Deskjet 9800 driver.

What internal hard drive can I get with 2007 Mac Pro?

I own a Mac Pro that I purchased sometime Early 2007 and I want to add an additional internal hard drive. I am a little confused as to what my options are after visiting the Apple online store. It seems they do not have a choice for 1 TB drives for my machine. I do know that my current drive is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 SATA 3.0Gb/s (SATA II) 500-GB (16 MB cache buffer) Hard Drive.
I was wondering if I could add a 1 TB drive or do I need to stay with 500 GB size drive? Also, do I need to stick with 16 MB cache buffer or could I go with the 32 MB cache buffer size? If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know. Normally, I would just think I could get any drive that uses a SATA II standard.

I would still steer clear of Seagate, and WD drives are doing well across the board - Mac Pro and PCs.

Can't communicate with new contact

I am trying to accept an invitation from a fellow bb user, we want to IM with bb messenger and it won't work. I'm using the most up to date version. Anyone else having similar problems. I am communicating with other contacts just fine.

Officejet Pro 8610 - Can't connect to wireless network (and has similar issue with previous printer)

When I returned from a trip, I was unable to connect to my trusty HP All-in-one 7510 that I had on my network for three years. I tried troubleshooting it, reinstalling the software on numerous computers, and fixing the printer, but alas the printer said that it was connected to the network, and none of my computers wanted to find it anymore.
Then I bought my new Officejet Pro 8610 this week, set it up...and I am experiencing the same issue. I tried using the link and support took from this post - http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/Officejet-Pro-8610-Can-t-connect-to-wi... but the printer was unable to be found on the network.

Mac can't install USB/Ethernet extension Officejet Pro 8610

For some reason I keep getting this error, "The system extension /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext” was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product’s vendor for an update." during the driver install from my Mac to my new Officejet Pro 8610.
I installed the drivers for my new Officejet Pro 8620 on a different computer and had no issues. Any ideas?

Hi,
Please try repairing the disk permissions as following:
1. Open the the Applications folder.
2. Go to the Utilities folder.
3. Double-click on Disk Utility.
4. Select the hard drive containing the boot volume.
5. Go to the First Aid tab and select Repair Disk Permissions.
Note: This process may take several minutes depending on the Mac and amount of permissions that need to be repaired. The Progress Log will indicate when the process has been completed.
Next, go to Computer (click on Finder, then select Go > Computer)
Select your active boot volume (will more likely be listed as Macintosh-HD)and then navigate to System > Library > Extensions. locate the AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext file, copy it to your desktop (for bakcup porpuses) and then delete it from the extensions folder.
Next reinstall the latest software below and check for any change, if the issue been resolved you may delete the backup file from the desktop.

Officejet Pro 8610 print job positioning

Hi, we have just purchased Officejet Pro 8610 for our business primarily to print our shop invoice with dilivery address sticker quickly. We had tried 2 cheap Canon printers before hand but they had after a few months.
I had to adjust the template to suit the new hp printer but it is still not positioning correctly on the paper. The space at the top of the page, prints randomly up and down not repeating accuretly enough.
The frustrating thing is the cheap canons had no problems with this accurate within a 2mm. Iwe are struggling to get an accuracy of 10mm with this professional printer.
Any help appreciated.

HP Officejet Pro 8610 Will Not Print

I have a new Officejet Pro 8610 which has been working fine but today it would not print. Everyting else still worked, the printer is detected by USB and all of the cleaning/ alignment procedures work from my PC as normal. Scaning a document worked OK as well. I tried to run a test print from the printer list on windows, this didn't work either. So I uninstalled the supplied software and reinstalled it again, still would not print. At this point I installed the software on my old laptop and connected if by USB again and it worked fine, printed straight away. The only difference in the install was when selecting which additional programmes to install, one said it was already installed even though I had unistalled the software before. That programme was the Product Improvement Study which I can't get rid of. Everytime it is still there. Is this causing my problems and how do I get it off my PC as I am unable to find it anywhere to remove it. Any help would be appreciated.

I got it to print from explorer but not chrome .So for some reason it decided to stop printing from chrome all on its on.Not sure how long it ill print from ie but we'll see .thanks for no advice

HP Officejet Pro 8610 Terminal Printing

Hi i have installed Hp Officejet Pro 8610 on the machine 1 (32bit arch) and want to remote desktop connect to another machine 2(also 32bit arch) , I remote desktop with both local resources enabling all local devices and resources. When im remoted in to machine 2 i can see the terminal printer renamed with hp officejet pro 8610 redirected but when i print the print doesnt seem to come through.
I Have installed the printer on both machines, they both running same OP which is 7
It Prints fine when connected to machine 1 but failes to print on redirected printer on machine 2 when remoted in.
Pls can anyone help me tx

I see you are experiencing problems printing. I would like to assist!
I'd recommend starting with a power reset. Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
