Drop down menu in top navigation

Hello friends,
I have created a normal team site, but I can't drag and drop a link as a child of some item during editing the links in the top navigation. This happens when the masterpage is seattle.
While as same can be done when the masterpage selected is oslo.
Check the below link for illustration I don't get this sort of option in seattle or more importantly when I use my custom masterpage for branding.

According to your description, there is an issue about the “drag and drop” feature in the top navigation when applying seattle master page.
By default, there are two types of links in the Top Navigation and the Current Navigation: heading and link:
If it is a heading, it will be able to hold other links, we can use the “drag and drop” feature to drag a link to the heading, then it will display like this:
In my environment, there is a heading “bam”, two links “bing” and “bing1”. When applying seattle master page, I can drag the “bing1” to the heading “bam” as the screenshot
above.
Please try adding a heading in the Top Navigation and drag a link into it.

Drop down menu for top level navigation

Dear All,
I recently had a quick peek at SAP's corporate Portal, which has a drop down menu in the top level navigation that dynamically changes the secondary level navigation based on the option selected.
We are currently running a standard portal (<b>not</b> an external facing lightweight framework portal), does anyone know how to achieve a similar result so that we can provide a drop-down menu to allow the user to dynamically change their role structure?

Hi James,
We have implemented such thing two years ago, also without EFP (with the light framework, it's easy). It took some days (more than 5) to change every JS, JSP etc which has to be touched for this. In the end, the first level of the navigation had been moved up into the dropdownbox, so that when changing the ddb, the two lines of the originabl TLN showed in fact the second and the third level (and the DTN starting with the fourth level).
It was really nice, but keep in mind that this means modifying the standard and maintaining this solution with new SPS coming up...

Apple drop down menu at top left will not display when I click on apple

My computer has just started having several odd problems and I'm not sure why... One obvious thing is that the apple drop down menu doesn't work, so to restart, I have to actually press restart button. (also can't tell exactly what OS I am running but think it's tiger.)
Can anyone suggest what to do about this?
Information about what the larger issues might be would also be helpful.
Here's what has been happening:
First, InDesign CS2 crashes upon opening, even after several restarts.
Then, my trash would not empty or secure empty (until I held option down).
I can't think of what would cause this, I downloaded several large files from an ftp site but those have since been deleted.
Any help very much appreciated.

There are any number of possible causes. Corrupted files, incompatible third-party utility, bad preference file(s), just to name a few. I would suggest starting with some basic maintenance.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old logfiles and archives, clearing caches, etc.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.
If the problems persist let me know. You may need to reinstall OS X if the above is unsuccessful. Although this may be done without erasing the hard drive it would be a good idea to backup your files just in case.

How do I keep the drop down menu in the navigation bar open without continuously holding the mouse button down?

When I use the mouse to hover over the naviation bar, I can see it, but once I select a drop down like bookmarks, I have to continuously hold the mouse button down until I move it to the bookmark I want, then I release the mouse button to select the bookmark. I used to be able to just click once to open the bookmark drop down, then click once to choose the bookmark I wanted to open. How do I get this function back?

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

What happened to the drop down menu on the navigation bar that showed previous pages visited? It was to the right of the "forward/back" arrows.

To the right of the forward/back arrows there was a drop down arrow that would allow you to see the last several stops you had made after doing a search. The Back/Forward button drop-down arrow marker was removed from Firefox.
To get the tab history drop-down list, you can:

Using a drop down menu as navigation

Good morning all!
I have been struggling with making a drop down menu work as navigation for a while and finally need to reach out to all you brilliant people on this forum.
I currently have a drop down menu with three items(Nav1, Nav, 2, Nav3) corresponding to three pages(Screen1, Screen2, Screen3). When I first created the menu it seemed I could only use the OnChange option to use navigation with the menu because, when using
the OnSelect I only get these options:
If(Datasource!Selected!Title
/// and ///
If(Datasource!Selected!Value
If I use the first option the title listed on my data source doesn't work, I get the red squiggly line. If I use the second option (Value) I have no value listed in my data source.
Therefore I used the OnChange option, I can get the menu to navigate to the first page, however I realized that this option chances to one single page no matter what the menu option changes to.
Does anyone know how to make a drop down into a fully functioning navigation menu?
The other issue I ran into was resetting the drop down to the first list item upson returning to the screen however, ptr.chovan,
offered this working solution:
set a variable in screen1 property OnVisible
UpdateContext({active: true})
and in screen1 property OnHidden
UpdateContext({active: false})
Then in dropdown visual add this in Items
If(active=true, .... your data source here ...)
Or perhaps easiest way is instead of resetting datasource of dropdown, you can reset dropdown default by adding this into Default property
of dropdown
If(active=true, "Screen1")

If your Items in dropdown1 are
["Nav1", "Nav2", "Nav3"]
Then use OnChange property of the dropdown1

Browser drop down menu not working

My browser/navigation drop down menu is no longer working. I'm unable to select my most visited sites without have to type in the web address every time, how do i fix this issue?

I can access the website, but the drop down menu (from the navigation menu bar) doesn't save the web address, so i still have to type in comcast.net or www.yahoo.com every time, vs clicking on the drop down menu (from the navigation menu bar) if that makes sense.

Drop down menu for a list

Hi, I need to create a type of drop down menu for a
navigation list. Only one button needs a drop down option. I was
wondering if anyone had any suggestion on the best way to go about
it? Is there a way to make the list that drops down to the right
instead of dropping straight down in order to keep the opening
window from getting in the way of the button beneath it. I would
like to do it without changing the order of the navigation list and
having to make it the last button.

How to show custom descriptions in drop down menu?

We are designing 3D pie chart in BAM report and trying to incorporate drop down menu at top.
The drop down menu is currently displaying 2 fields of associated dataobject - "TaskStatus" and "TaskUser".
But We would like to have "By status", "By user" insted of "TaskStatus" and "TaskUser".
Can anyone help us achieving this?

I'm assuming you are using Field type prompts and these 2 fields (TaskStatus and TaskUser) are fields to group by for the pie chart.
If that is the case, the only workaround I see is to create 2 calculated columns in the dataobject, using Architect and not Active Studio.
For example:
New field name: By status
Calculated expression: TrimEnd(TaskStatus)
New field name: By user
Calculated expression: TrimEnd(TaskUser)
Then edit your prompt so that the 2 new calculated columns are the selection options for the drop down.

Activate drop down menu in browser

I have a palm pre plus on att. I'm trying to figure out how to get a drop down navigation bar to work on a web page. On my computer, I can do this by hovering on the bar. i can't get it to work on my pre.

Can you be more specific; a drop-down menu for what navigation purpose. Currently the drop-down menu will take you to saved bookmarks, create bookmarks, etc; what are you looking for?

Top Navigation Bar drop down menu's do not work

Top Navigation Bar drop down menu's do not work. It is only happening on a couple of my site collections and is affecting on the main page of those collections. There is only one web part on the main page, it is the Picture Library Slideshow web part. When
I remove that web part, the menu's come back and work with no problem. I re-add the web part and the menu's stop working. Not finding any error's in the server logs, there are no visual error's thrown. Any advice on what might be happening? I've checked
the Java update on our computers and it has the latest version. Open to any advice at this point.

Wrapping text in the navigation drop down menu

Help! Is there a way to wrap text in the navigation drop down menu. Some of the text is too long and sits outside of the drop down box. Is there code that I can insert in the below example or would this need to be specified in the css stylesheet that is attached? If this needs to go in the css stylesheet, then what would the code be for that?

Is there a way to actually wrap the text and keep the box it sits in the same size?
Height is determined by content & end-user's default text size.
Look at the Adobe Forum top menu bar. Mouse over Store > sub-menus. When text wraps to more than one line, the sub-menu adjusts to content. If you increase text size in browser it's more obvious.

Navigation Drop Down Menu Does Not Appear Correctly with Internet Explorer.

Website was designed with Dreamweaver CS5 on a Mac. The navigation drop down menu does not appear correctly with Internet Explorer. When you mouse over a navigation option that has a drop-down menu, the drop-down portion appears on top of the first level. Hope someone can help me out.Thanks!

Drop-down menu in Dreamweaver; template on top of template issue

I've managed to create a drop-down menu in a dreamweaver
template by saving the .dwt file as an .html file, building the
menu, then resaving the file as the original .dwt. However, I have
another template that is based on this original template, and while
the drop-down menu appears when I preview the second template in my
browser, it refuses to apply to the pages upon which the second
template is based.
Is there a solution to this?

You are completely hosed now.
When you save a template as HTML, you leave the Template
markup in the page.
When you then resave it as a template you duplicate that
markup. You will
never be able to use this properly now. And that is
especially true with
the AWFUL DW pop-up menus in it. You just must not use these
menus with
templates. Especially since there are much better ways that
don't have any
such restrictions -
