Dropdown box on each line of interactive report?

In a manner similar to the column attributes report in the APEX development GUI I would like to create an interactive report on which I can show at least one drop-down box. I want to allow the value to be changed on multiple rows and when a button is clicked the update (and other perocessing) occurs. I know how to put an icon to open an edit dialog. And I know how to put a checkbox on the line. I found the apex_item.select_list_from_lov but it does not seem to be doing what I expect - most likely because I am not doing it right. I have included that here.
I thought this would give me a drop-down list from which I could select a value - but that seems not to be the case.
select
"DEVICENAME",
"GROUPID",
APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_LOV(3,1,'BAC_GROUPS')A
from "#OWNER#"."BAC"

I figured out what I was doing wrong. it turns out I had forgotten to set the column type - for this it has to be standard report column

  • White border boxes on each line/image

On every single page of my WebHelp/CHM file, there are white
borders around each line/paragraph image. We use a slight blue as
our background color, and I cannot find where to turn these off. It
is NOT in the .css, it is NOT in the background color/image/skin. I
have noticed that when I go to Format > Styles > Format (drop
down) > Borders and Shading, the "Box" border is turned on. No
matter how many times I click the top one (None), it goes back to
Box. I even took a .css from another document that's not doing
this, yet this is still happening. It basically looks like a zebra
or a kid's notebook where every other line stands out. Help?

No, as I said in my original post, it's the output that looks
awful. At this point, the answers were not coming, so I went
through and on every single page of the guide, changed the .css to
"None" and by hand, re-did every single style on every single page.
That took 4+ hours, but it worked.

    Order

I can do this with :Order </br>Time" but the "</br>" tag now shows in the all the Interactive dropdowns.
Any idea on how to get around this?

Thanks for the help Ravi, but I tried that and it did not work. However I want to focus back on the real topic of this post.
I need to have my colum headers wrap to more to more then one line with out showing the "br" tag in the column dorpdown lists.

Also you can try by setting the property *"Vert. Space between frames"* for the Repeating frame.

  • Buttons on interactive report

I have created an interactive report. At the end of each line of the report I want to create a button. When pressed a process would be run updating a table with the product code that is displayed on that line of the report.
How do I go about creating buttons for each line on the report?

    Hello,
We don't like "cannot be done in Apex"... ?:|
So here is the (a) solution:
    select      "DEMO_CUSTOMERS"."CUSTOMER_ID" as "CUSTOMER_ID",
          "DEMO_CUSTOMERS"."CUST_FIRST_NAME" as "CUST_FIRST_NAME",
          "DEMO_CUSTOMERS"."CUST_LAST_NAME" as "CUST_LAST_NAME",
             '<a id="P16_DOIT" href="javascript:doSubmit(''Go'')"><img alt="Go" src="/i/go.gif"/></a>' as "Go"
from      "DEMO_CUSTOMERS" "DEMO_CUSTOMERS"And set 'Display Text as' of the last column to 'Standard Report Column'.
Of course the javascript can also call any other function - with any other parameter - you like...

  • Reg. Special Character at end of each line

    Hello Experts,
I have an internal table of type string which has to be uploaded into the directories
Each line has to be ended with a comma and for which I concatenated the work area and ',' before appending to the internal table.  This is fine till this point.
After downloading the file from the directory, when opened with a notepad, i could see a special character (LINE FEED rectangular box) at the end of each line.
I couldn't understand why this character got appended at the end of each record.  Pl suggest me on how i can overcome this special character.
    Thanks

  • Question - Resetting Interactive Reports on Different Pages

    Hi,
I currently have 5 pages, each with an Interactive Report. Page 1 contains column links with filters to the other 4 pages.
Once a user has clicked a column link with the relevant column filtered on the Interactive Report on the other page, the only way I can see for the user to reset each Interactive Report is to manually reset the report on each page.
Is there any way to perform the "RIR" or "CIR" clear cache setting on all the Interactive reports for a delimited list of pages via one button click?
    Thanks in advance,
    - Stuart

    Hi Simon,
The scenario could be that the user clicks on 3 different column links on page 1 and the Interactive Reports on those linked pages are filtered. The user is happy with the information and decides that he/she wants to look for completely different data within the Interactive Report on page 2 (3 or4).
When they go to that page, it is still filtered based on the column link. To reset the report, they need to manually select Reset from IR menu. This would need to be done for each of the other pages with previously filtered reports.
The Reset I am looking to perform is almost like when each page is visited. It would be similar to performing a clear page cache on multiple pages and you pass the page number as a parameter from one button click using a PL/SQL block. i.e.
    BEGIN
    APEX_UTIL.CLEAR_PAGE_CACHE('1');
    APEX_UTIL.CLEAR_PAGE_CACHE('2');
    APEX_UTIL.CLEAR_PAGE_CACHE('3');
    END
Ideally, if there was some way to do something similar for all or specific Interactive reports then it would reduce the number of clicks made by the user.
The application is to be aimed at users, who need to get information with as few clicks as possible.

  • How to make a column in interactive report dropdown box

    Hi Friends,
In simple reports we are having one option to make a column as a dropdown box.Is there any such option in
    interactive reports.Please help,
    Thanks,

    Hi Nav,
You can create a lov using the APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST in report query. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/apirefs.32/e13369/apex_item.htm#insertedID12

  • Check Box for each row in report -- all rows deleting when pressing DELETE

Hello experts! I have set up a report with a check box for each row. When I click the DELETE button to delete the selected rows, every single one of the rows get deleted...even the ones that are not selected. I have my process point set to "On Submit - After computations and validations".
This is my delete process (SHG is the table and SHG_ID is the primary key):
    FOR i in 1..HTMLDB_APPLICATION.G_F01.count
    LOOP
    DELETE FROM SHG
    WHERE SHG_ID = HTMLDB_APPLICATION.G_F01(i);
    END LOOP;
Also, I've added to query in the region source this line:
    htmldb_item.checkbox(1, SHG_ID) del,
Where does the "1" come into this? Not sure what I am doing wrong!

The 1 (first argument to all the htmldb_item.* APIs) corresponds to the array number in htmldb_application.g_fNN. So 1 will populate array g_f01, 2 will populate g_f02 and so on.
Your code seems fine, it should delete only the checked rows. Are you sure there is no other process on the page that might be deleting the rows? See if you can put up an example on htmldb.oracle.com

  • Interactive Reports: Display data on two lines per row?

Is it somehow possible to display a single row across two lines in an interactive report?
    Something like this:
    Row1 Field 1, Row1 Field 2, Row1 Field 3
Row1 Field 4 (spanning across the other fields)
    Row2 Field 1, Row2 Field 2, Row2 Field 3
Row2 Field 4 (spanning across the other fields)
    Row3 Field 1, Row3 Field 2, Row3 Field 3
Row3 Field 4 (spanning across the other fields)
    ... etc
For example, I have a "Remarks" column that would look better on its own line, rather than being squeezed into the same row with the other columns.
I realize that this layout might not be possible out-of-the-box, but I was thinking that perhaps some javascript/jQuery trick could be used. Unfortunately, my jQuery-fu is not strong yet, so I'm asking for help...
(I also know that this type of layout is possible using a classic report with a custom template, but I would prefer to use the Interactive Report if at all possible.)

    Hi,
Try this to page HTML header
    <style>
    .apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td{white-space:nowrap!important;}
</style>At least it work with firefox 3.5 for me

  • Check box in interactive report is literal string not a check box ???

I'm trying to create a check box in an interactive report using the APEX_ITEM.CHECKBOX function.
    My select statement is :
    select     "CUTOVER_TASKS"."ID" as "ID",
         "CUTOVER_TASKS"."START_DATE" as "START_DATE",
         "CUTOVER_TASKS"."END_DATE" as "END_DATE",
         "CUTOVER_TASKS"."DURATION" as "DURATION",
         "CUTOVER_TASKS"."EFFORT" as "EFFORT",
         APEX_ITEM.CHECKBOX(1,COMPLETED, 1) as "COMPLETED",
         "CUTOVER_TASKS"."ASSIGNED" as "ASSIGNED",
         "CUTOVER_TASKS"."CONSTRAINT_START" as "CONSTRAINT_START",
         "CUTOVER_TASKS"."CONSTRAINT_END" as "CONSTRAINT_END",
         "CUTOVER_TASKS"."DEPENDENCIES" as "DEPENDENCIES",
         "CUTOVER_TASKS"."NOTES" as "NOTES",
         "CUTOVER_TASKS"."PRIORITY" as "PRIORITY",
         "CUTOVER_TASKS"."ORGANIZATION" as "ORGANIZATION",
         "CUTOVER_TASKS"."TASK" as "TASK"
    from     "CUTOVER_TASKS" "CUTOVER_TASKS"
This produces an interactive report with the COMPLETED column contents "<input type="checkbox" name="f01" value="" 1 />"
The same sql in a regular report works properly and creates the check box.
Is there something else required for a check box in an interactive report ?
    Using : Application Express 3.2.0.00.27

Go to Report Attributes and change the display type to "Standard Report Column" (instead of "Display as Text, escape special characters")
Go to Column Attributes for that column and change the List Of Values to None and uncheck all the column's interactive features (sort, aggregate, compute, etc)

  • Interactive report - Is there an easy way to expand the width of a column to allow for more data on a line.

    Example.
One of the columns in my interactive report is labelled Notes.
The data in the column looks like
    I really
    enjoy
    typing up
    notes,
    please
    disregard
Is there any way to get this note all on one line - or atleast expand the width to increase or decrease the number of characters per line.
    So either
I really enjoy typing up notes, please disregard
    Or
I really enjoy typing up notes,
    please disregard
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mikez,
You can also consider to render your "Notes"-column as a textarea, eg:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=vincentdeelen:23:
For the text area you can define the default number of rows and column width you want. You render a column as text area with an apex_item function:
    select apex_item.textarea(3,NOTES,1,80) from MY_TABLE
Where 3 is the index number that you want your NOTES colum to have and 1 and 80 stand for row and column width respectively. When you use apex_item for a column, make sure to set that column as "Standard Report Column" under "Report Attributes".
    More info on apex_item:

  • Adding radio button to each row of an interactive report: possible or not?

First of all let me explain what the point of this application is.
I'm making an application that allows a user to select something out of a drop-down select list. This list is a list of categories for food. Let's say the user selects "Fruit".
Then the page refreshes and shows an interactive report with a list of food that belongs to the category of fruit.
Here's where I want to change things:
I want the user to see the interactive report, but in this interactive report I want to add a radio button for each row.
Then, when a certain type of food is selected (let's say "Strawberry") via the radio button, a text field should appear underneath the interactive report. In this textfield, the user can then add the weight of the food item, and then it will calculate how many carbs there are in the strawberry.
All I really want to know is:*
How do I add a radio button to each row of the interactive report, and how do I link this radio button to the value of that particular row?*
    Additional information:
The item "P17_FOOD_CATEGORY" contains the following LOV:
select FOODCATEGORYNAME as display_value, FOODCATEGORYID as return_value
    from FOODCATEGORY
    order by 1
The "Food" region contains the following source:
    select a.FOODID, a.NAME, b.FOODCATEGORYNAME, c.STANDARDAMOUNT, c.NAME Unit
from FOOD a inner join FOODCATEGORY b
    on a.FOODCATEGORYID = b.FOODCATEGORYID join FOODUNIT c
    on a.FOODID = c.FOODID
    where a.FOODCATEGORYID = :P17_SET_CATEGORY
    EDIT:
PLEASE! Even if you don't know a good answer or if you are unsure about your answer, do post! Even suggestions would be welcome! I really need all the help I could get, even if it's not much.

    Hi there!
I tried to change my code to your version, but then I get an error message:
Error Unable to change Interactive Report query.
ORA-12899: value too large for column "APEX_040100"."WWV_FLOW_WORKSHEET_COLUMNS"."DB_COLUMN_NAME" (actual: 32, maximum: 30)
I don't quite know what this means. After doing a quick search on the internet, I know that this message should mean that the length of the value for the columns named "APEX_040100", "WWV_FLOW_WORKSHEET_COLUMNS" and "DB_COLUMN_NAME" is too long. But, I don't have these columns. I searched for them in my object browser, and they can't be found in any table related to my application.
I'm sure your answer is the solution, but do you perhaps have an idea on how to solve this error? I checked the allowed maximum length for any column value that is related to my application, but they all have "50" set as the maximum value...
Thank you for your reply. ;)
