Dropdown creation problem in ADF

Hi,
I just wanted to create a drop down in ADF ,which will be based on a read only VO,so i tried out af:selectoneChoice ,but it seems it needs a base VO and destination VO,can't we just create a simple dropdown based on one VO.
Thanks

Hi,
"Thanks very much for the reply,but one thing what i cant understand is why we can't create a drop down from a single VO in adf,why we have to create duplicate VO,when we can do that in OAFramework.And ADF is supposed to be better than OAF."
The reason is simple: The VO you update has a setting to the current row so the update is added to the correct row. The list though is queried and needs to show more values than just the current row. The usecase in which the target VO is the same as the list VO is quite unusual. For example: You have a VO listing all the Countries and then there is one that holds the Departments which need to be in a country. So the list VO is the CountryVO whereas the DepartmentsVO is the base VO.
If you use the same VO for the listbox and as a traget there also is no guarantee that only a single occurence of a country is shown unless specified in the VO query, in which case the VO no longer behaves as it should when trying to update it.
If you need an understanding why Applications has chosen ADF over OA framework, then I suggest to ask this question on their forum

    Hi,
    Modify your method to call super.doDML() after initialization of mandatory attributes as below:
    protected void doDML(int operation, TransactionEvent e) {
         oracle.jbo.domain.Date dt = new Date();
         if(operation ==DML_INSERT){
              //PRE-INSERT code begins
           EntityDefImpl cmSubscribers=CmSubscribersImpl.getDefinitionObject();
           CmSubscribersImpl newSubscribers=(CmSubscribersImpl)cmSubscribers.createInstance2(getDBTransaction(),null);
           Number n=new Number(1599);
           newSubscribers.setCreatedBy(n);
           newSubscribers.setCreationDate(dt);
           newSubscribers.setLastUpdateDate(dt);
           newSubscribers.setLastUpdatedBy(n);
           //PRE-INSERT code ends
           super.doDML(operation, e);
           //POST-INSERT code if any
         }else
            super.doDML(operation, e);
    }Sireesha

  • How to problem solve adf issue in the mx340 model

    how to problem solve adf issue in the mx340 model

    Alex,
    the missing thing in your example is the fact, that if only one value is selected, the parameter has exact this value like BOSTON. If you choose more than one value, the parameter includes the *'*, so that it looks like *'BOSTON','NEW YORK'*. So you need to check in the package, if there's a *,* in the parameter or not. If yes there's more than one value, if not it's only one value or it's null.
    So change your package to (you need to expand your variables)
    create or replace package bip_departments_2_parameters
    as
    p_dep_2_param varchar2(1000);
    p_loc_1_param varchar2(1000);
    p_where_clause varchar2(1000);
    function beforereporttrigger
    return boolean;
    end bip_departments_2_parameters;
    create or replace package body bip_departments_2_parameters
    as
    function beforereporttrigger
    return boolean
    is
    l_return boolean := true;
    begin
    p_where_clause := ' ';
    if p_dep_2_param is not null then
    if instr(p_dep_2_param,',')>0 then
    p_where_clause := 'WHERE DNAME in ('||p_dep_2_param||')';
    else
    p_where_clause := 'WHERE DNAME = '''||p_dep_2_param||'''';

    end if;
    end if;
    else

    if instr(p_loc_1_param,',')>0 then
    p_where_clause := p_where_clause || 'WHERE LOC in ('||p_loc_1_param||')';
    else
    p_where_clause := p_where_clause || 'WHERE LOC = '''||p_loc_1_param||'''';
    end if;
    end if;
    end if;
    return (l_return);

  • Migration Jdev 11.1.1.1 to Jdev 1.1.2, IDE visual problems with ADF design

    Migration Jdev 11.1.1.1 to Jdev 1.1.2, IDE visual problems with ADF design
    CONTEXT
    I’ve been working my project with Jdev11.1.1.1, when I migrate to JDev 11.1.1.2. I realized that my project didn’t compile successfully as before besides I couldn’t see the design view in a WYSIWYG mode on my JSF pages.
    I had installed (initially) in C:\oracle\Middleware Jdev 11.1.1.1 with WLS 10.3 (default in Installer)
    A couple days ago I realized about the new Jdev release JDev 11.1.1.2 and I decided to migrate because of the IDE improvements such as Bugs Solutions, Maven support, code templates, etc).
    The new version seemed to be non-compatible with WLS 10.3 because I couldn’t mount it in the same middleware so I installed the new one in C:\oracle\Middleware11g2, JDev 11.1.1.2 with WLS 10.3.1 (default in Installer).
    EXAMPLE
    I have created a new sample Project named JDev112App, it only has 1 java class, 1 ADF template and 1 JSPx to show the errors and differences between releases of the IDE… However, I also have added the screenshots of the Project in each IDE, also I have included a screenshot of my real project (Business App).
    NOTE. Business APP project is under subversion SVN and the migration was done successfully when JDEv 11.1.1.2 opened it (it migrated automatically).
    What should I do?? .. thanks

    I think that the problem could be preferences/settings migration from Jdev 11.1.1.1.0 to JDev 11.1.1.2.0, because I migrated not only the application but also the JDev preferences ( "Documents&Settings...Jdeveloper..." ).
    I have installed in a new machine without previous version of Jdev the new release JDev 11.1.1.2.0 and when I deploy my test application with errors ( showed in this post ), it works fine and also the design view is correct.
    I am not SURE but I think the bug or problem could be also the preference/settings migration between JdeveloperS.
    Can anybody tell me the real reason?? How can I fix it ... I don’t want to import each of my settings manually in JDev 11.1.1.2.0 ( I mean templates, javadocs settings, connections, repositories, etc).
    Thanks in advance for your help,

  • How to develop a 'creation form' in ADF 11g?

    Dear friends,
    How to develop a 'creation form' in ADF 11g? it seems no such type of form in 11g.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Tony

    If you are using ADFBC, the easiest way is
    - drop the data control as ADF form
    - add CreateInsert method binding to the pagedef
    - add an invokeAction for the createInsert with a refresh property set to renderModel so that an empty creation form will be shown on page load
    for insertion
    - Finally, add the commit action as button

  • Problem deploying adf app to weblogic

    I've successfully migrated a 10.1.3.4 adf application to 11.1.1.2.0 and can run it on the integrated wls. However, I can't deploy/install to my standalone wls (10.3.2) without getting the following error during deployment/installation of the .ear:
    An error occurred during activation of changes, please see log for details - (Class not found) javax.faces.webapp.ConverterELTag
    or at times i'll see a similar error message:
    An error occurred during activation of changes, please see log for details - (Class not found) javax.faces.component.UIComponent
    I've built the .ear file via jdev and I've installed the adf runtime libraries in the wls domain that I'm trying to deploy to. Also, from what I can gather, this has something to do with the jsf-api.jar, since those classes referenced above belong to that jar. I can see that library (jsf(1.2,1.2.9.0)) is installed on the wls domain/target that I'm deploying to. Any ideas what the problem might be? Thanks.

    I'm still unsuccessful at creating the app server connection, even after choosing weblogic 9.xx as you suggested. On one of the screens of the wizard, it asks for a Target Node value. I've only set up the AdminServer 'target' in this wls domain, so that's the value I used as the Target Node value. When I use the Test Connection button, I see nothing that tells me the connection was successful or not. If you have any more ideas or have tried this yourself and got it to work I'd like to hear about it. But, since you said this combination was not supported, I'm not sure I'm going to go that route anyhow at this point. Thanks for the help.

  • Problem with ADF Security / SQL Authenticator after upgrade to 11.1.1.6

    Hi,
    We have an ADF application built with JDeveloper 11.1.1.2 that's been in production for a couple of years. Now we are in the process of upgrading to 11.1.1.6 so I have upgraded WLS and ADF in a test environment and re-deployed the application there. The application uses users and groups from database using SQL Authenticator configured in WLS. This worked fine in the old version but now after the upgrade we can't log in with credentials from the database. I can log in if I add a user to the default authenticator. We didn't touch any of the authenticator settings or security realm configurations during the upgrade. Both authenticators are marked as SUFFICIENT, as they have always been.
    Has something changed in the way SQL Authenticator is used since 11.1.1.2? What could be the problem?
    Regards,
    Joonas

    Answering myself here: after recreating the SQL Authenticator and the ADF Security configuration logins are working again. Don't know where the problem was though.

  • New insight into my dropdown list problems: loss of session info

    I tried again, this time with NetBeans 5.5.1 (with Tomcat 5.5.17) and stepped through my code; code executed as a result of selecting an item in the second, misbehaving dropdown box.
    I have this function:
        public void prerender() {
            SessionBean1 sb = this.getSessionBean1();
            sb.setPortfolio_id(0);
            this.getDropDown2().setSelected(ddsi);
        }This uses a private data member:
    Object ddsi = null;
    And here is my value changed event handler for this combobox:
        public void dropDown2_processValueChange(ValueChangeEvent event) {
            SessionBean1 sb = this.getSessionBean1();
            String sp_id = (String) this.getDropDown2().getValue();
            ddsi = event.getNewValue();
            String desc = (String) ddsi;
            Long Ldesc = new Long(desc);
            long p_id = Ldesc.longValue();
            sb.setPortfolio_id(p_id);
            this.getFacesContext().getCurrentInstance().renderResponse();
        }As you can see, I am trying to ensure that the value selected is preserved and used the next time the item is rendered.
    sb.setPortfolio_id(p_id); is a trivial setter function (taking a long argument) for the property portfolio_id.
    When I step through this code, at every step along the way, I see the correct value for p_id! The correct value is passed to the session bean! And I even see the correct value in ddsi when the function "prerender" is executed. However, it seems that this information is lost when the page is actually rendered.
    And, when the servlet that produces the image that is to be displayed on the page checks the session bean, the session bean has the default value (0) for the portfolio_id property rather than the the value (30) that had been passed to the session bean.
    It is as if the session information has been lost, or a new session bean is provided each time the page is rendered.
    The only additional clue is this (found in Tomcat's output);
    com.sun.rave.web.ui.component.DropDown::The current value of component form1:dropDown2 does not match any of the selections.
    Did you forget to reset the value after changing the options?
    Why is this happening? I know full well that at the time the value in dropdown2 is changed, the value in dropdown1 has not, and therefore the value passed to dropDown2 IS in the list of selections. But, when the value in dropDown1 is changed, the list of options in dropDown2 is changed. I wonder if the valueChanged event handler for dropdown1 is being executed every time the page is rendered, forcing dropDown2 to "forget" what was selected, and somehow losing the session info at the same time?????????
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Upgrading to itunes 7.0 just cost me 2 days of messing around and in the end I had to revert back to v6.0 and resore my lib.
    Apple CS was good but did not belly up the fact that 7.0 is defective in some cases and in the end told me I had a hardware problem!
    The main issue is that I could not get itunes 7.0 to see my ipod (very infrequently after a hard boot I would see it but would not be able to upload anything). Worked(s) 100% with v 6.0.
    This is very defintey 1/2 baked following in the steps of the other well known producers of sw that is not always functional/buggy the first time around.

  • Problem with ADF security and task flow calls

    Hi.
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.0.0.
    I encountered a problem when tried to apply ADF security to my application.
    The way to reproduce the problem:
    1. Create new Fusion Web Application;
    2. Import Business Components from Tables from any existing schema and add at least one table to the ApplicationModule.
    3. Create "welcome page" (for instance, welcome.jsf). Add a button with fixed action outcome "test".
    4. Create test page, for instance, test.jsf. Drag and drop any view object from Data Controls onto the page and create a form with navigation controls. Add a button with fixed action outcome "return".
    5. Create bounded task flow, name it "test", drag and drop our test page on it - the page will be the default activity. Add a task flow return activity. Add a control flow case from the default view activity to the return activity, set From Outcome property to "return". So our return button should cause the task flow to exit.
    6. Open adfc-config.xml in diagram mode and place our welcome page on it. Then drag and drop the test task flow to create a task flow call activity. Add a control flow case from welcome page to task flow call activity, set the From Outcome property to "test". So our test button should call the test task flow.
    7. Configure application to run the unbounded task flow starting with Welcome view activity.
    At this point all works as expected: when application runs, the welcome page is displayed with test button. Pressing the test button results in displaying the test page, return button leads back to the welcome page.
    Now let's configure ADF Security.
    Run the ADF Security configuration wizard, choose ADF Authentication and Authorization.
    On the second page select Form-Based Authentication, check the Generate Default Pages flag.
    On the third page choose No Automatic Grants.
    On the next page keep the Redirect Upon Successful Authentication unchecked. Press Finish.
    Open jazn-data.xml to configure roles, users and resource grants:
    1. Create application role test-role.
    2. Grant the test-role privileges to view the test task flow.
    3. Create user and grant him the test-role.
    Now we have the public available welcome page and the test page with restricted access.
    When application runs, the welcome page is displayed as expected. Pressing the test button redirect us to auto-generated login page. After successful authorization the test page is displayed. But nothing happens if we click now the return button for the first time. @Lovin_JV_941794
    The welcome page is public available since it does not have appropriate PageDef file.
    Login page comes not from the welcome page, it comes after attempt to access the test page. So after the login succeeded the test page appears, because redirect to welcome page after successful login is not configured. I do not need to return the welcome page at this moment, I need to go to the test page.
    It seems the task flow call stack to be destroyed after redirect to login page.

  • Session problem in ADF BC

    We have an application developed in Jdev 10.1.3.4 (JSP, Struts, ADF BC) and running on OAS. Now we have a big problem with session, hope somebody can help with some ideas.
    We set session time to 45 min in the web.xml. The problem is that sometimes some user work on a page with form,for instance performing some edit activity. If he/she leave the page open inactive for more than 45 minutes and come back from lunch, press the ’save’ button, the application would then commit the change to the wrong row in database, most probably the top row in the View Object(VO) instance. This is because the application module actually does a rollback when session expires, it loses all user data.(e.g. row currency in VO instance).
    To avoid saving wrong data to the wrong place, we implemented a session Filter(see att. Below: ApplicationSessionExpiryFilter.java) to catch session time-out and forward request to an error page alerting user that their session has expired due to long time of inactivity. The Filter works as it should but it gives another problem. If user already has one of our application page open for very long time and open another page in a new browser (e.g. click a link from an email), he/she will get session-expire error immediately in the new browser. I guess it is because the session in the first browser already expires and the newly opened the browser shares the same session with the first one. That is how browsers works, we can do nothing about it.
    But our users are of course not very happy about getting the session errors in a newly opened browser. So we tried implementing a heartbeat funtion in AJAX(see att. Below: Heartheat.html and Template.jsp) to keep the session alive until the page is closed. Basically what we do is adding an invisible div tag in every jsp page and invoke AJAX funtion to periodically update the div tag with a small html page. In this way, a request is being sent to the server every 5 minutes thus the session should be kept alive until the page/browser is closed.
    It sounds to us like a very logical solution but it doesn’t work very properly. We sometimes still get the session error page immediately after opening a new page while we have another page open for long time.
    Could anyone please help to look at our Filter and heatbeat funtion? Is there anything wrong with our Filter or the heartbeat? Why does the session still expire before we close the page?
    All we do here is to try to avoid the initial probelm with saving data after session and the application module expires. If anyone has a better solution to this problem, we would very much like to try. Appreciate if anyone can share some ideas!
    Thanks in advance!
    *1. ApplicationSessionExpiryFilter.java*
    public class ApplicationSessionExpiryFilter implements Filter {
    private FilterConfig _filterConfig = null;

    FilterChain chain) throws IOException, ServletException {
    HttpServletRequest httpRequest = (HttpServletRequest)request;

    if(httpRequest.getRequestedSessionId() != null) {
    if(!httpRequest.isRequestedSessionIdValid()) {
    if (!httpRequest.getRequestURI().endsWith("sessionExpired.do")) {

    if (sessionInvalid) {
    ((HttpServletResponse) response).sendRedirect(_filterConfig.getInitParameter("SessionTimeoutRedirect"));
    else {
    chain.doFilter(request, response);
    *2. Heartheat.html* (A small html page to be invoked by template.jsp periodically)
    <html>

    </head>
    <body>
    heartbeat to keep session alive!
    </body>
    </html>
    *3. Template.jsp* (Template page to be extended by all jsp pages, invoke heart.html every 5 min)
    <Html>
    <body>
    <div id="heartbeat" style="display:none">
    </div>
    <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
    new Ajax.PeriodicalUpdater('heartbeat','jsp/template/heartbeat.html',{ method: 'post', frequency: 300, decay: 1 }); // update heartbeat.html every 300 sec(5min)

    Hi Shay,
    Reviewing ADFContex methods it seems that this object shouldn't be accessible from BC. Example:
    public static ADFContext initADFContext(java.lang.Object context,
                                            java.lang.Object session,
                                            java.lang.Object request,
                                            java.lang.Object response)
        Initializes the ADFContext for the environment of the specified context.
        Parameters:
            context - the ServletContext or PortletContext of the current execution environment.
            session - the HttpSession or PortletSession of the current execution environment. OPTIONAL.
            request - the HttpServletRequest or PortletRequest of the current execution environment. OPTIONAL.
            response - the HttpServletResponse or PortletResponse of the current execution environment. OPTIONAL.
        Returns:
            the ADFContext that was current when init was invoked. Should be passed back to resetADFContext after the block requiring the ADFContext has completed.Kuba

    How to resolve the issue.

    Check in CORW   and switch off batch creation  to isolate the problem if needed.   Also see whether you have any batch managed compoents   for which you have set master data for automatic batch determination.
    There is no setting for material types and plant for batch.  May be the error message is not correct.  What is the message number?
