Do you need a drop menu?

Or, this one if you have a budget:

  • Dropdown list to change image field linked image?

    Hello,
    I am quite new in Designer but I have to complete a job and I don't find the solution.
    I try to update on a form an image field using the value of a dropdown box and a "if" script.
    I use linked images (not embedded ones) and try using a script calling the image Field. value. image. href  property.
    The property is well updated as export to xml displays well the new href value but the image is not displayed as something was missing to activate it.
    form1.#subform[0].ImageField1::calculate - (FormCalc, client)
    if (UN_DropDownList == "3373") then ImageField1.value.image.href = ".\Images\UN3373.png"
    endif
    Rather simple (don't laugh at it) but it doesn't work.
    I found solutions for embedded images via visible/hidden by dropdown list (not yet tested) as these ones. I give them below for reference (if some other users are interested)
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/683215
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2187604
    http://acrobat.timhuff.net/?p=5
    But not for linked images (path or URL). By the way, I found same problem descriptions in other forums but without any proposed solution.
    As I should have quite a lot of images with frequent updates, it seems to me a better solutions...
    Thanks in advance for you help.
    Kind regards
    Philippe

    Hi Philippe,
    Have a look at this blog, http://blogs.adobe.com/formfeed/2009/11/linked_vs_embedded_template_im.html, it turns out that both linked and embedded images are stored in the PDF but just in different ways. So updating the href at run time will have no effect.
    If you are not in a possition to store all the images in the PDF at design time then you might have to look at setting up a webservice to access them on a server.
    Good luck

  • Dropdown list tooltip changing when scrolling over values in the list

    Hi,
      I have a dropdown list where the tooltip is bound to a context attribute.
      Once I select a value in the dropdown list the tooltip changes with it.
      What I would like to have is that when I scroll through the dropdown list (go over the values of the dropdown list) tooltip changes.
      How can I trigger an event on 'go over the value in dropdown list' ?
      Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Amel Alic

    Hi Amel Alic ,
        Yes It is possible to due that for that you have to do following things
    1) Please connect tooltip to some element of context of Type string
    2) Now On select of particular value populate that text in element of node.
    Just take case you made some node called 'Ttip'  and make element as temptemp.
    now on select you will populate appropiate content based on condition of value
    Hope sample code I have made will surely help you.
      DATA:
        lt_attributes TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF  if_request_ior=>element_Ttip,
        wa_attributes LIKE LINE OF lt_attributes.
    if (condition1 of value1 choosed)
      wa_attributes-temptext = 'You have choosed value 1'
      INSERT wa_attributes INTO TABLE lt_attributes.
    endif.
    if (condition2 of value2 choosed)
      wa_attributes-temptext = 'You have choosed value 2'
      INSERT wa_attributes INTO TABLE lt_attributes.
    endif.
    *endif.
    Node->Bind_Table(
        New_Items =  lt_attributes
        Set_Initial_Elements = Abap_True ).
    If solution works give points.
    Cheers !!!

  • Change image when form dropdown list value is selected

    I really thought this would be simpler but I just can't get it working.
    I have a submit from from paypal with a dropdown list. The list allows you to select color. I want to change an image on the page to display the appropriate color when the color is selected from the drop down list. So a black image shows up when black is selected, a red when red - etc...
    I would be very grateful if someone can share some succinct, browser compatible code. Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
    Bill

    Thanks so much.  I used your info from above and am in the process of creating a product configurator for our products.  Do you see any problems/issues etc or ways to make this script better?  I don't have most of the images there yet, but if you choose big boy chair and then choose navy/powder/black fabric and most accent colors you should see it working (in FireFox anyway).  Not sure why it isn't working in IE.  Any ideas?

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 Dropdown List Fill from a spreadsheet

    I am a new user to Adobe LiveCycle Designer and have created a form which a manager is required to fill out for each of their employees.
    I would like to create a drop-down object which will contain the name of the employees, so the manager can just pick the employee from a dropdown list and then fill out the evaluation.  We have over 1000 employees, so I don't want to type them in one by one.
    Please let me know how to link the list of employees to this form from another source.
    I can put the list of employee names into an Excel spreadsheet or an Access Database.
    I have tried following information posted in different places in the web, but I must be doing something wrong??
    I would appreciate a step by step guide of instructions to help me accomplish this task.
    Thank you in advance for your assistance.

    Select the Drop Down object and add a sample name thru the object UI. Now view the "XML Source" TAB, it shows xml code similar to the image.
    Now need to prepare all the names from the excell, place all names in one column of excell and copy paste the <text> and </text> nodes to the names(hopefully each column at a time). now need to copy all together and prepare final version to copy notepad (may require some replace all with spaces to format properly) then from notepad only update the above xml source . while going to design view it may pop-up warning message of changed xml, and click yes, now all names should be present in the dropdown. Hope this works.All we are doing here the form design is from "XML Source" tab insted of adding one by one from the object from design view.

  • CSS Menu - Dropdown list help.

    Hi guys,
    I am re-creating a website for a friend and I am currently finding coding the CSS Menu difficult.
    Here is MY version of the website:
    http://abacusmortgages.co.uk/index.html
    Here is the current version I am trying to copy:
    http://sdhmarketing.co.uk/
    Pages: Our client types and What do you need have special css menu dropdown lists which come up when you hover over the button.
    Here is the CSS code I have so far:
    #holding ul {
              margin: 0px;
              padding-left: 0px;
              list-style-type: none;
              font-family: Arial;
              font-size: 14px;
              font-weight: bolder;
              color: #506F1A;
              background-image: url(images/navbg.jpg);
              position: absolute;
              left: 0px;
              top: -3px;
    #holding ul li {
              float: left;
              width: 200px;
              margin: 0px;
              font-weight: bold;
    #holding ul li a {
              font-family: Arial;
              font-size: 11pt;
              color: #506F1A;
              text-decoration: none;
              background-color: Transparent;
              text-align: center;
              display: block;
              padding: 5px;
    #navigation {
    #holding ul li a:hover {
              color: #FFF;
              background-color: #333;
              font-weight: bolder;
              font-size: 14px;
    .menu {
    Here is the HTML I am using:
    <ul>
        <li><a href="index.html">HOME</a></li>
        <li><a href="ourclienttypes.html">OUR CLIENT TYPES</a></li>
        <li><a href="whatdoyouneed.html">WHAT DO YOU NEED?</a></li>
        <li><a href="casestudies.html">CASE STUDIES</a></li>
        <li><a href="managementteam.html">MANAGEMENT TEAM</a></li>
      </ul>
    If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks all!

    You, essentially, have an issue with float: left;
    Here's the deal, when you float list items left, they'll line up to the left, even though your navigation is centered.
    They have also done this website in a manner that does not line up with what the W3C considers a standard for websites, but that's another issue.
    Here's their HTML:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
    <title>wanted</title>
    <link href="wanted.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id="page">
    <div id="head">
      <div style="width:100%; float:left;">
        <div id="name2"></div>
        <div id="name1"></div>
      </div>
      <div id="slogan"></div>
    </div>
    <div id="top"><a class="topsel1" href = "http://sdhmarketing.co.uk/index.php">HOME</a><a class="top1" href = "http://sdhmarketing.co.uk/who.php">OUR CLIENT TYPES</a><a class="top1" href = "http://sdhmarketing.co.uk/what.php">WHAT DO YOU NEED?</a><a class="top1" href = "http://sdhmarketing.co.uk/case_studies.php">CASE STUDIES</a><a class="top1" href = "http://sdhmarketing.co.uk/team.php">MANAGEMENT TEAM</a> </div>
    <div id="maintop"></div>
    </body>
    </html>
    Now, here's the problem. They have one line with all of their navigation. So they started out with (on the same line):
    HOME OUR CLIENT TYPES WHAT DO YOU NEED? CASE STUDIES MANAGEMENT TEAM
    Then, they selected each menu item and gave it a style and a link. That's pretty bad practice, because how do you manage that? Also, how do blind people figure out it's a navigation? Also, what if you want sub-menus?
    But you like how it's pretty and I respect that.
    This is how to really do it:
    HTML:
    <div id="top">
    <ul>
              <li>HOME</li>
        <li>OUR CLIENT TYPES</li>
        <li>WHAT DO YOU NEED?</li>
        <li>CASE STUDIES</li>
              <li>MANAGEMENT TEAM</li>
    </ul> <!--ends the list -->
    </div> <!--ends top -->
    You see here, I have an Unordered List for my navigation. Because it's an unordered list, I can easily add new items, add sub-lists (drop-down menus) and really make this puppy sing. Unfortunately, when you look at this with no style, you'll see something pretty boring and it won't be horizontal. We change all of that in the style sheet.
    First, before we do anything else, we'll make everything into a link. We can change those links later on when we build the rest of our pages.
    <ul>
              <li><a href="#">HOME</a></li>
        <li><a href="#">OUR CLIENT TYPES</a></li>
        <li><a href="#">WHAT DO YOU NEED?</a></li>
        <li><a href="#">CASE STUDIES</a></li>
              <li><a href="#">MANAGEMENT TEAM</a></li>
    </ul> <!--ends the list -->
    An hash "#" is a link that simply calls the page you are on. It's a bona-fide link and it will create what you want.
    Now, we need to set up styles.
    Let's set up the list by getting rid of bullet points (the default) and give it a little padding:
    Make a new style sheet, call it how-to.css. It will be blank so we'll add a style. We will need to link to it from our HTML page, so add the following to the <head> section:
    <link href="how-to.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    Now, we make a blank CSS page and we call it how-to.css. Put it in the root of your defined site in Dreamweaver for now. And we'll define list objects within the div they naked top:
    #top li {
              display: inline;
              list-style-type: none;
              padding-right: 20px;
    Now, you'll see that our list is suddenly horizontal! Cool! But links are blue by default and underlined. Did we want that? No. So let's style links:
    #top a {
              float:left;
              padding: 5px 20px 2px 20px;
              font-size: 13px;
              height:23px;
              color:#506F1A;
              display: block;
              letter-spacing: -0.2px;
              font-weight: bold;
              text-decoration: none;
    Now, I'm borrowing heavily from their styles here.
    But we have to set up the #top framework and here's that (it should go before everything else in your style sheet)
    #top {
              width:990px;
              padding:0px 10px 0px 0px;
              height:35px;
              margin:0px 0 0 0;
              background-image: url("navbg.jpeg");
              background-repeat: repeat-x;
    Now, it's just about done. They used an Arial typeface and the default is Times Roman. Let's add a little more to the #top id:
    Now let's make backgrounds change when we hover and when we have one selected.
    #top a:hover {
              background-color: #444;
              color: #fff;
    And make a background behind the page you are on, with a hover:
    .selected {
              background-color:#777777;
              color:white !important;
    .selected a:hover {
              background-color: #444;
              color: #fff;
    Now you're pretty much done.
    Here is how to style the entire thing in CSS:
    #top {
              width:990px;
              padding:0px 10px 0px 0px;
              height:35px;
              margin:0px 0 0 0;
              background-image: url("navbg.jpeg");
              background-repeat: repeat-x;
              font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    #top li {
              display: inline;
              list-style-type: none;
              padding-right: 20px;
    #top a {
              float:left;
              padding: 10px 20px 5px 20px;
              font-size: 13px;
              height:26px;
              color:#506F1A;
              display: block;
              letter-spacing: -0.2px;
              font-weight: bold;
              text-decoration: none;
              margin-top: -5px;
    #top a:hover {
              background-color: #444;
              color: #fff;
    .selected {
              background-color:#777777;
              color:white !important;
    .selected a:hover {
              background-color: #444;
              color: #fff;

  • Creating a dropdown menu from an image hotspot

    How do you create a dropdown menu from an image hotspot? For
    example, this website is a single jpg image with links generated
    from hotspot coordinates on the image. Can I have someone click on
    a hotspot and a dropdown menu appears?
    Thanks in advance for the help!

    Unfortunately, everyone knows, but nobody wanted to tell you.
    Given this fact -
    > this website is a single jpg image with links generated
    from hotspot
    > coordinates on the image.
    one can assume that you are not very experienced with DW or
    even with HTML.
    In that case, the practical answer to your question would be
    "no".
    To create a 'drop-down' menu, you need to have a full web
    page (not just an
    image with image maps), containing a menu HTML structural
    element. While
    you *could* just place hidden elements on the page that would
    only be
    revealed (i.e., drop-down) when your image maps are rolled
    over, the
    practical reality is that this would be an extremely awkward
    construct, and
    not only most likely beyond the ken of someone who is
    inexperienced, but
    also just plain 'not right'.
    Sorry to give you the bad news.

    I had over 7000 images stored in Lightroom and they are no longer there. Do images automatically delete after a certain number? How do I get my images back?

    It'll be something you have done. Think back to recent things you may have done. For example, might you have created a new catalogue? Anything listed under File > Open Recent?

  • How to populate a textfield based on a dropdown list and a checkbox

    Hi Guys,
    I need help.
    first step: I have a dropdown list if i click in dropdownlist "a" and put in numeric field a number bigger than 99 the, checkbox should be marked and  second step: a textfield1 should be visible.
    the first step works perfectly but the second doesnt work.
    this is my coding for the second step in event : change java script
    if ((DropDownList1.rawValue == "a") && (this.rawValue == 1))
    TextField1.presence = "visible";
    else
    TextField1.presence = "hidden";
    does anybody have any idea why?
    thanks!!
    Diana

    Hi,
    I would put the following in the exit of the dropdown and the checkbox:
    if
    (DropDownList1.rawValue == "a" && CheckBox1.rawValue == 1){
    TextField1.presence
    = "visible";}
    else
    TextField1.presence
    = "hidden";}
    (the script is all over the shop, but should be OK in the form).
    Then in the exit event of the numeric field (after the changing of the checkbox value) you could call the checkbox exit event.
    Good luck,
    Niall

    I have a 2009 MB Pro. I have been trying to do some cleaning of files and discovered that in Finder, All Images, I am experiencing a frustrating problem. I spent a few hours trashing over 4K images and within a few hours, I had as many more.  I did a couple of thousand trashed images and half hour later, more arrived. There are a lot of images that seem off the internet, including gif.s, png.s. Help!

    First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
    There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
    If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
    Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
    Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
    If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
    Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
    When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
    Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Undesired database update from a dropdown list

    Hi,
    I'm using a dropdown list as a criteria to search data in another table which has reference over the data that is displayed in the dropdown list.
    My problem is that when I change the selection of the dropdownlist the data is changed with the new selection, I don't want than my selection change any data of the database.
    Do you know how I can create a dropdownlist independent of any field of the data base, but at the same time that the dropdown list take the list of values from the database?
    Thanks,
    Pedro

    One thing you can try is creating a binding in Navigation mode. In the Data Control Palette, select your view instance, instead of the attribute. Select combo box from the "Drag and Drop As" box, and drag the view instance to your page/screen. On the bindings tab of the structure window, double-click the new binding, and you can select which attribute you want your control to display.
    Otherwise, you would have to override the list model with your own, and plug in whatever values you want it to display.

  • I am being forced to create 3 security question from your dropdown list and I can choose the questions but can't enter anything in the answer field??

    I am being forced to create 3 security question from your dropdown list and I can choose the questions but can't enter anything in the answer field??

    The problem is twenty three people leaving or twenty three thousand leaving has zero impact on a carrier with over 100 million customers. And they have the lowest churn rate. So if 10,000 or 20,000 or more churn out it means little to the carrier.
    If you have a real lawyer he/she will advise you that you have no case. The device was not lost or stolen by the carrier, you were not eligible for a new device, and like any business who employs large numbers of poorly trained personnel who make low wages what was told to you is not in writing. So a verbal exchange does not hold up.
    In fact in Verizon's customer agreement it has such a disclaimer against any verbal exchanges so if you have that agreement in writing, go get them.
    The posting on public forums and places like Face Book, Linkin, Google+ or a personal web site can open you up to a lawsuit for Dilution of Trade Name, and other offences. However if you have proof then go for it.
    Unfortunately that is how big business works today. A pity

  • Editable Inline Table with a Dropdown List in Each Row

    Dear All,
    I am using: JDev 10.1.3.3 + JSF + BC
    I need to build a dropdown List in each row for a child table of an inline style. I used the SelectOneChoice and followed Steve Muench example (http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2005/06/24/jdeveloperAdfScreencasts.html). I'm unable to get the result. It display the correct value but lose the dropdown style, rather it shows the result as an outputText style.
    Can someone please help...
    I've tried different way like the table binding by droping the column from the dataControl as a selectOneChoice and did the binding... didn't work.
    This is what I have in the source page
    <af:column headerText="Cust Id" sortable="false"
    sortProperty="CustId"
    id="column34">
    <af:selectOneChoice value="#{detailRow.CustId}">
    <af:forEach var="li"
    items="#{bindings.customerLookupVO1.rangeSet}">
    <af:selectItem value="#{li.CustId}"
    label="#{li.CustText}"/>
    </af:forEach>
    </af:selectOneChoice>
    </af:column>
    In this is what I have in the page Def file
    <table IterBinding="customerLookupVO1Iterator" id="customerLookupVO1">
    <AttrNames>
    <Item Value="CustId"/>
    <Item Value="CustText"/>
    </AttrNames>
    </table>

    Hi,
    looks ok except for: "#{detailRow.CustId}"
    did you change the var property of the table? normally it would be "#{row.CustId}"
    the fact that your select one choice is not displaying would suggest that there is a problem with the 'value' property of the component.
    there is another problem you should be made aware of with ADF editiable tables. If you put anything other than input text components in the table you will have chronic locking problems with the page. Only one person can use that page or else you will get errors all over the page until the user holding the lock commits or signs off.
    regards,
    Brenden

  • Closing a Enumerated DropDown List in Adobe form

    I have an adobe form where we used Enumerated Drop down Lists for search helps. The problem is right now we dont have option to close the Enumerated DropDown List. It closes when we select a value or sometimes if we try "ESC" key. But we want to have a "Close"/"X" button like in normal search help.
    Letme know if there is any solution or an Alternate way to close the Enumerated Drop Down List from Adobe Form by just hitting a close/X button. Each value help has over 500 values, so we cannot use normal dropdowns, letme know if any other suggestions.

    Hello Arafat,
    I am using a drop down list in Adobe Interactive Form for Web Dynpro ABAP.
    The form is of ZCI type layout and the form interface is of XML schema-based interface type and the XML schema source is set to "Generated".
    I have included the following code in WDDOINIT method of the view:
    data: handle1 type ref to if_wd_context_node,
    begin of zstruct,
    zktokd type kna1-ktokd,
    end of zstruct,
    zitab type table of zsttxecr.
    handle1 = wd_context->get_child_node( name = 'DATA.NODE1' ).
    select ktokd from kna1 into corresponding fields of zstruct.
    append zstruct to zitab.
    endselect.
    handle1->bind_table( new_items = zitab ).
    In the Adobe Form Designer, i have binded the node NODE1 to the enumerated drop down list from native web dynpro library. Still the drop down box is not getting populated.
    Please let me know what is missing.
    Thanks and Regards.

  • Conditional dropdown list in parameter form

    I have a report with a parameter form containing a parameter called "person_name". As of now, it is a dropdown list which is built using a select query over my "people" table and displays all the people in the table. I need to add a checkbox on the parameter page which says "Show only current people" and when this checkbox is checked, the "person_name" dropdown list should be limited to only current people. I don't know how to add a checkbox to the parameter form, and how to implement this conditional if-then-else on the dropdown list.
    My current query for the dropdown list is:
    SELECT 1 co11,' ALL - ALL' col2
    FROM dual
    UNION
    SELECT person_seq_num col1, last_name||','||first_name col2
    FROM people
    ORDER BY 2 ascWhen the checkbox is checked, my query needs to be:
    SELECT 1 co11,' ALL - ALL' col2
    FROM dual
    UNION
    SELECT person_seq_num col1, last_name||','||first_name col2
    FROM people
    WHERE person_current_flag='Y'
    ORDER BY 2 ascCan anyone help with this problem? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    you can use 2 parameters with LOVs. The first one for All People/Current People, the second for your people-parameter. How to get them dependent is described in Note 185951.1 SAMPLE - How to create a parameter LOV based on another parameter value?
