Dropped LD Calls on HTC Eris

I had a Samsung a couple of years ago.  Every time I'd call my family in Illinois (from Texas), I'd get my calls dropped after 3-5 minutes.  Verizon technicians said it was with the landline carrier in Illinois.  They said it was with Verizon.
I switched to a Blackberry 8330.  Never a problem.
Now I got an HTC Eris.  Out of three conversations, I've had to re-dial seven times. I was only on the calls for a maximum of 15-min.
Anyone have any thoughts, or suggestions?
Thanks!

I have had the blackberry 8530 well two of those. DROPPED CALLS Then I switched to the droid eris to no avail. DROPPED CALLS I have had service with Verizon since March 5 and regardless of the phone, dropped calls are a fact of life for me I hit ### which is what customer service told me to do. I changed my phone number because customer service told me that because I ported my number something just wasn't right. I have a minimum of 5 dropped calls a day. (on a good day) Verizon has told me that I can discontinue my service twice. I am currently looking for another cell phone company that I can actually make a phone call on. The last conversation the rep told me that my area had bad service I should switch to a non pda then the call dropped. Not that the service would be any better.
LOL I have had service tickets "RESOLVED" but not for me still have the same issues that I have had since day 1 DROPPED CALLS.
SO again I am trying to decide where I am going too before they decide that I have to stay with a phone company where the phones are not reliable to make a phone call. I tried talking tonight and it called someone else..Oh yeah I had to input all of my numbers again because it was suppose to fix the stranger call issue. SMH

  • HTC ERIS randomly Drops data connectivity after 2.1 OTA

I am about to receive my 3rd HTC Eris under warrany that I am told will help my problem, before the 2.1 upgrade I no problems with data connectivity dropping. My 1st phone randomly displayed message saying "The MObile network setting needs to be turned on. The 2nd replacement phone does the same thing at random all over Phoenix.
Verizon said they have never heard of this problem and there have been no issues with the 2.1 upgrade..so far that is the story from 2 reps. My 3rd replacement phone is on its way...will it fix my problem?? Tried to get them to replace the phone with a nother model but they would only do it at full retail price....wow I use this for business and it is costing me money......If this doesn't fix it I guess I'll keep asking for replacement phones till it finally works properly again......
A very unhappy HTC Eris user...

Hi.  I am sorry you are having issues with your HTC Eris and I will be happy to look into this for you.  When did you get the 2.1 update?   Try to dial *228 option 2 to update your roaming to see if that helps.  If it does not, we may need to reset your entire device to see if that works.
    Waiting on your reply
    Thanks!

  • Transfer Footprints from HTC Eris to HTC Incredible 2

I switched from HTC Eris to HTC Incredible 2.  I want to transfer my Footprints thumbnails and data to HTC Incredible 2.  On the HTC Eris there is a folder on the SD card called .footprint that contains the footnotes.db file and folders for thumbnails and voices. The thumbnails for the footprints I have created are in the proper folder.
On the HTC Incredible 2, the footprints folder is on the SDcard as a subfolder of the .data folder.  That folder has a footprints.db file and footprints.db-shm and a footprints.db-shm files in it.  It also has  "thumbnails" and "voices" folderswhere the pictures and dictated audio that are created with the app reside.
I have copied the HTC Eris .footnote folder over to the HTC Incredible 2 SDcard.  The footprints application has a menu item to import pictures and data.  The pictures have to be imported individually.  While the pictures import and retain the address and GPS information, they display the current date and time, not the date and time when the footprint was orginally created.  When you try to import a database, it says no database found.
I tried copying all of the Eris thumbnails into the Incredible 2's thumbnails folder and replacing the footprints.db on the Incredible 2 with the one from the Eris but the app would not display the existing footprint pictures and the app would no longer save and display footprints created even though the pictures taken were in the correct folder.  I restored the Incredible 2's  footprints.db  and solved that problem.
If anyone has ideas, I would be interested to know.  My guess is the Footnotes app on the Eris is a different version so the data is not transferable.

If I had to guess I would say that the issue is because of the different versions of Sense, I have noticed that some of the old files stored from a HTC Sense application doesnt always work on the updated version..

  • HTC Eris Bootup Freeze

Hi so recently my HTC Eris has been freezing on bootup. Lastnight it ran out of battery so i plugged it into the charger and left it, I comeback and as soon as remove it from the charger the phone shut off. I figure its just a little buggy so i turn it back on and it doesnt go past the little android guys on the skateboards. I waited about 10 minutes and it still didnt boot up. So I did a data reset with vol down send and end buttons and nothing. I tried a recovery boot with send and end buttons and nothing. There is no water damage to the phone. The indicators have a little water showing but its very apparent that its just a very tiny drop of water (only the corner of the indicator is pink/red) and the battery has no water damage indication either.
So what should i do next to fix my phone. Or if necesary who should i send my phone back to and will it be covered by HTC warranty (if one exists?)

I guess I never noticed it before.
As for doing a hardboot or working through the recovery menu, I am not familiar with the steps. If you haven't looked yet you can search the forums at www.androidcentral.com or xda developers. They should have more detailed steps of what to do next.

  • New FIOS customer with dropped VOIP calls and Internet connection

I am a new FIOS customer. Got my 50/25 connection a week ago, switching from a TWC 6/1 connection. Ever since the new connection, I've had numerous issues.
My VOIP (Ooma) connection constantly drops and re-connects during conversations
I've had random Internet connection losses, which picks up again after a few minutes
My home alarm starts chirping every once in a while
I've contacted Verizon several times due to these problems and have received varying answers with no resolution of the problem.
The first time I spoke with support, the tech logged into my router and changed the WiFi channel saying that would fix the problem. It didn’t.
The second time I contacted them, the tech ran a bunch of diagnostics and said everything looked fine so it must be an IP address conflict with my devices, because I had a couple devices using static IP addresses. He said everythinf should be DHCP and the last two digits could not be higher than 99 (192.168.1.99). He said FIOS does not support 3-digit numbers at the end.
So I changed all my devices to DHCP and ran some online VOIP tests. It showed a packet loss of 2-5% and MOS score of 1 (which is bad). I was still getting dropped connections, so I disconnected all devices and connected just one computer to the router and tested again. I was still getting packet loss.
Then I called support a third time, this time the tech said there were no 2-digit IP restrictions and that he was detecting there was no UPS baterry backup for the ONT which was probably causing the problem, so he dispatched a field tech to my house.
Today the field tech came (same guy as before), he took one look at the box and said it was too close to my Electric meter and the RF from the meter was causing interference to the FIOS connection and resulting in dropped connection.
He moved the ONT to another location and said that should fix it.
Well, I'm still seeing packet loss and low MOS score when I run the VOIP test.
I don't know how much of what the techs are saying is true and how much is made up stuff.
Has anyone had similar issues and have thoughts on solutions or likely causes for dropped VOIP calls and connections? Could RF be causing this?
I thought going from a 6/1 Cable connection to a 50/25 FIOS connection would be awesome, but this has turned out to be a nightmare, and I may have to switch back to cable if the problem is not resolved.
    I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks!

Don't know where the packet loss is happening. I ran the VOIP test on myspeed.visualware.com and it shows a packet loss of 2-5% at different times and a MOS score of 1.
The report says MOS should be around 4 for good VOIP calls.
The Verizon tech who came to the house just blamed the electric meter box for RF interference and move the ONT farther away.
My concern is that I'm getting different answers from different techs at Verizon.
Regarding IP addresses. The Router shows a DHCP range from 192.162.1.2 to 192.168.1.254 as available for devices on the network. So, if I need to assign a static IP to a device should I use a number below 99 or above 151?
    Thanks!

  • In the past month or so my iPhone 5 battery is dying in hours, whereas it used to last all day at least.  Also, I am getting constant "message send failures" when texting and frequent dropped phone calls.

Just recently my Iphone 5 battery is dying in a just a few hours, it used to last all day or more.  I'm not doing anything different with it, although I have started shutting down apps etc. to conserve battery.  I get constant "message send failures and frequently dropped phone calls.

My best bet would be to restore the phone. Back it up to itunes, and then reset it Factory settings. This way, any corrupt software will be removed, and you can start fresh. Make sure you back it up first. By the sounds of it, you are using the phone for business and probably need the data from it. Hope this helps!

  • Is it possible to tell which side of a phone conversation drops the call?

Just curious, in helping me decide my iphone issues... I've had 3 or 4 dropped calls. Is there a way to distinguish if it's my iphone or someone else's phone dropping calls by the type of notification you get?
Sometimes it says "CALL FAILED" in big letters on the phone dialing screen (where the name of the caller is)
Other times it says "call failed" as a tiny alert -- like one you would get notifying of a text message.
Does one kind of notification mean my phone is dropping the call and the other kind mean the other person's phone is dropping the call?
And if so, which means which?
Anyone who can answer this, thank you in advance.

    Hi dg299,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Yes, if the iPhone was dropped or if it has liquid damage, it have a hardware issue. Try the troubleshooting suggestions in the article linked below and setup service if those don’t resolve the issue.
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Multi-Touch display not responding to touch
See this document for troubleshooting Multi-Touch display issues.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.
    I hope this helps.

We are dropping calls that are already connected to an agent when the Cisco ICM ucce PG1A service is stopped on PG1. From the logs we gathered from CVP and PG, it looks like CVP is intentionally dropping the calls. Is this expected behavior and/or is this configurable.

Thanks for replying, Dave. I think we might be running into bug CSCtx54519. Upgrading to version 8.5(1)SR0(10) or higher would fix the issue. We are already planning to upgrade to version 9 so I will update once we do that in January 2014.

  • After 4.2.1 Dropped/Choppy calls and poor signal / Gets hot / Battery Life is bad when talking

What is this APPLE? I can see the Iphone 3G is old and no more support but atleast make a working OS and then go out on a high note. Instead of leaving us hanging with a broken phone. Not just me , scores of others have these very same symptoms. Also I wish there was a way to go back to an older OS , one  that worked %100 for my phone.
    Dropped/Choppy calls
    Get REAL warm
Batterylife is crap only when talking
Never had these problems before 4.2.1 , it's like night and day. I was hooked on the Iphone since I bought this 3G brand new and its ease of use but Ill tell you one thing....
Im not under contract right now with anyone
I WILL NOT be buying a phone/contract with APPLE as long as 4.2.1 is left in our "lap".
I WILL be buying another smartphone if this is what we are left with. I was going to treat myself and buy the 5G with a contract to make it cheaper but as of now
Im feeling "used" by APPLE and not going to take it.
I know some might come here and post ..
"Me and others aren't effected by 4.2.1 , must be your phone"
BS! It was night and day when I downloaded/installed 4.2.1. This is NOT my Phone and IS the firmware. And my friend that is a phone nut said he didn't download 4.2.1 because of all the problems he was hearing about it, I should have done research. He said the biggest hit was the 3G and he can't belive I installed it.
APPLE DO YOUR JOB AND FIX THIS. MAKE 4.2.2 ATLEAST AND FIX THESE PROBLEMS!! IF NOT THEN WE MUST PART WAYS.
                                                                DamianJP

    Cool
Did the new device and didn't do a restore from backup. Grabbed all my contacts from windows contacts saved list. So only thing the same on the phone was the same 4.2.1 that stays in there. Still bad signal and battery life, although the battery problem might be the age of the battery since its the same battery that came with the 3G.
I did the Field Test mode program
    http://socialtimes.com/find-your-iphones-signal-strength-using-the-hidden-field- test-mode_b4690
    - Open the iPhone’s dialer keypad
    - Enter *3001#12345#*
    - Press the Call button
-80 to -70 dBm: Reasonably strong signal
-107 to -90 dBm: Weak signal
    -113 dBM: No serviceable signal
In my house im getting any were from -100dBm to -117dBm ( 1 to 2 bars with 3G)
Outside Im getting -85dBm and up. (2 to 4 bars with 3G)
I have to do more testing to get solid numbers though. I got almost full bars all the time if I switched to EDGE.
(4 to 5 all the time with EDGE). That makes me think that with the problem in 3G , it's the OS. Since ALOT of people saying  that there 3G drops or is bad since 4.2.1.
Now I looked around and I playied with all my settings to insure that my battery should not drain thru improper settings. So I think given this is the original battery , it might be a good time to try and install a new one from here for $17.
    http://www.iphonebatteryrepair.com/iPhone-3G-Battery-p/bat-1001.htm
Iv'e opened Iphones before (fixed my friends 3G) after he dropped his and the vibrate/silent button's screw came loose and he could not change it off silent mode and replaced a battery in my other friends 3Gs. SO i feel comfortable in there.
I dont know if the bad battery could be reducing my signal.Ill try the battery cause it's only $17 (Cheap investment) and because my battery life under a load drains it fast. Again I don't know if it's the OS or the age of it.
I was thinking maybe a poor contact/condition of my SIM card could be another possibility. I wonder if and how much a new SIM card from a AT&T provider is. I heard people saying you can get a new one but Ill have to ask my local AT&T dealer.
Although this seemed so odd how it all happened the same night till now RIGHT after the 4.2.1 OS install and all the others people saying the same symptoms.
Ill keep working with it and give you (and others users here) updates in my progress  for the people who are in the same "boat" as me.
By the way I haven't tried to make Itunes re download the OS by deleting the file in the directory you gave me above. Ill try that as soon as I post this message.
Also Iv'e noticed that theres a way to download a older version of Firmware OS and put it in a certain directory and use the DFU mode (Deep Firmware Upgrade) on the Iphone to force the Iphone to re install the current version or an older version ( whatever version you download) of firmware. Now Im very worried that this might mess my Iphone up to were it wont even work so I really dont want to try this right now or until I exhaust all my other options. I have to do more research of this method.
Sorry for the long post but I think I kept it faily organized for a easy read, I hope.
                                Thank You Ingo !!

    Hi,
I'm running CUCM 8.51 + UCCX 8.51. I have several Application Trigger each one running different CSQ. Today I realize a call have more than 94 hours waiting in a queue when agents are in Ready state so look like the call never disconnected.

At the end it didn't work for me because the call never was never show at the Session tab so restaring the UCCX Engine did the trick for me.

  • Remote h.323 gateway drop conference calls

Recently I went to H.323 mode on a 1760 remote gateway. This was done to better support caller ID and SRST. This gateway services 6 POTS lines locally and has a T1 point to point to get back to the CCM cluster.
When I set up a MeetMe conference and then try connect a call on one of the POTS lines to the MeetMe, it drops the call.
The same thing happens when trying to directly conference a local extension and a caller on a POTS line.
I can however directly conference a local extension and a caller that can be reached out the T1 point to point line, which would be in the area codes local to the CCM cluster at headquarters.
I can also call in to headquartes and be transfered in to an existing MeetMe conference.
So, it seems that the issue is with the local POTS lins or the gateway. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    TIA - Mike

I'm not using a SW Conference Bridge that I am aware of. Just the default conference and MeetMe feature of CCM 4.1.
I'll look at the G711 in the dial-peers. I know that have it defined globally as the first prefernece. Also, I will look at regions and sees what I can see.
    Thanks - Mike

  • Bold 9650 drops every call

I've had a total of 3 bold 9650s on Verizon now since last September. long story short they simply cannot complete a phone call without dropping it. I received a warranty replacement 3 days ago, I have made 3 calls with it, and every single one has dropped. I have called Verizon tech support 30 or so times and they have no solution other than to keep sending me new phones. they ask if it happens in one area, no, it happens all over the country. I was in Texas for a week in March and every single call I made or received dropped, even in major metro areas like Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and so on.
this happens while moving, the device can't hand off from one tower to another without dropping a call. I also notice most of the time when I try to use the internet, it says communication failure. sometimes it will work, but I usually have to reset the device in order to get the internet to work. any solution other than to find a different phone? I like the phone otherwise.

3 different phone in 3 weeks.
Thanks to SuzyQ for your input. Hello mtacconi, in meaning you had three different phones in three weeks, What specific service issues are you having? If you are still having issues, please give specific details about them for suggestions in helping you with a resolution. If the issue you are experiencing is dropped calls, please do a soft reset on your device to refresh the signals to the towers in your location. This action does not affect the data on your device and can help with a drop call issue. Here's a link to our website for providing you additional help with your BlackBerry Bold device.

  • Drop a call on PRI

    Hello
sometimes on CCME I see long time incoming calls hanging on PRI.
I guess this is because a calling end did not hang phone handset correctly:
CallID          CID  ccVdb           Port             DSP/Ch  Called #   Codec    Dial-peers
    0x114C7    133C 0x689C7C80 0/2/0:15.2       0/3:2    xxxxxxx    g711ulaw  1/4
    0x114CB    133D 0x689C7C80 0/2/0:15.1       0/3:1   xxxxxxx    g711ulaw   1/4
How to drop such call on PRI?

You can manually clear the call using the command clear call voice causecode 34 id.
You can find the call id using show call active voice brief.
If you want prevent this issue you can study this doc:

  • My iphone 4S made a humming sound then dropped my call..now my calls last a few second before being dropped.

My iphone 4S made a humming sound then dropped my call..now my calls last a few second before being dropped. What is the reason?

Thank you very much guys.  Looking back on how I ended up in this situation in the first place,  I started by google searching "apple support",  clearly I was mistaken and ended up calling one of the google adverts instead of real apple support.  My wholehearted apology goes out to apple whom obviously did not answer my phone call.
I belive that this is the advertised number that I called and the misleading ad that comes up when I google search apple support:
    Call For Apple Support1 (866) 691 7793
    apple.support.mytechhelp.com/
Get Professional Tech Support. Call Now.
Boy am I red in the face.  These people are masquerading as genuine apple support people when clearly they are not.  I think tonight I will call them back and simply scream vulgarities at them for as long as they stay on the line.
A good lesson has been learned by me and hopefully anyone reading this.
Get your support phone number from the apple website and not a google search.
Man do I feel dumb,  although I would feel a lot dumber if I had bought into the pile of garbage these people were trying to feed me.
Apple I hope you litigate a cease and desist order on these people because they pretend to be the real deal.  They did not even try to correct me when I called them apple support, nor did they properly identify the company that they are truly representing.

  • My 4S iphone keeps trying to turn off during phone calls and drops the calls.  Sometimes I have to call back 3-4 times to finish a conversation.

While talking on my iphone, the phone tries to turn itself off.  Not just once, but continuous, and not just dropping the call, but actually tries to turn itself off.

Well, then I'm glad this is most probably not a hardware issue - at least not an exceptional, maybe defect of all? -. This seems to be a good idea, because 2G will nearly everywhere available, so phone calls are not likely to drop at all. I'm just a bit confused, because they promised intelligent switch even during calls. For me that means that if the better, faster connection is available, then it uses that, and if it wouldn't be, then it switches to the slower one.
Anyways, thanks for your reply. I guess it's a "just get used to it" issue.
