  • ORA-01400 - not null column with default value and item with authorization

I've searched - I would think someone has run into this. APEX 3.0.0.00.20 - I've created a simple form on a table. One of the column is a not null column with a default value. I have a select list on that item, but it has security on it - authorization scheme. So, it checks the user and if that user isn't of the right role, it will not even display that item. However, APEX appears to still send in the column in its sql! So, the default value is useless, it sends in null each time. Even if I set the default at the Item level, I get null. Argg. That's got to be a bug...
In debug, I do not see the item listed at all. It's not used. That's fine - but why is it trying to insert the value? I would think it would leave it off??? I think because the item is associated with a database column. But, getting around this is ugly. Having to create a hidden item for each one, and then check to see if I need to take the list value... horrible. Any way to get around this???

I should add - I guess I can always put my own custom process in to replace the DML. Just seems like a simple thing - if the value doesn't appear on the debug, isn't set with any default value... don't include it in the DML.

Could you please guide me which setting in the mapping will make it load the default value in the target column?

  • Set Column Selector Default Value

    Hi Gurus,
Does anyone know how to set default value for column selector. In my column selector I have two values let's say employee_name and employee_id. How can I set my column selector always to employee_id as default. Any resolution or workaround would be useful.
    Thanks,
    Joni

    Joni,
    You can't achieve this
    ====
But can i click include column selector on employee_name column and then I add employee_id and use employee_id as default column selector
    ===
As, I said above whatever is the first column becomes default. Incase, you are getting wrong results then you need to check your report first as I believe EMP ID to EMP NAME shud be 1 to 1 relation.
    Hope this was useful..

  • Want to remove the default value of a column in a table

    HI
I have a table called User_ind. This table columns have default values as 'n' like
    create table user_ind(
    ind_num varchar2(1)
    ,group_allowed varchar2(1) default 'y'
    ,view_allowed varchar2(1) default 'y'
now i want to remove the default values How can i procede with this.
    Urgent .
    Thanks in advance.
    Chaitanya.

In Oracle 9i you cannot remove the DEFAULT, you can only change it to null:
alter table user_ind modify group_allowed varchar2(1) default null
You can check it using this one:
    select table_name,column_name,data_default
    from user_tab_columns
    where table_name = 'USER_IND'

  • How to find if COLUMN DEFAULT VALUE is stored as metadata?

    Hello,
I'm using Oracle 11g enhanced ADD COLUMN Functionality. Adding new columns with DEFAULT values and NOT NULL constraint no longer requires the default value to be stored in all existing records.
Sometimes we change DB columns from NOT NULL with DEFAULT to NULL with DEFAULT. This operation "materialize" column default.
Is there an easy way (Dictionary view) how to find, that COLUMN default value is stored as metadata or is "materialized" ?
    Thanks. Filip
Oracle RDBMS version : Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production

Thanks for your suggestion, but it is not what i'm looking for :-(
I don't need to find the default value, i need to know how is default value stored. It could be stored in 2 ways.
    1. "materialized" - prior to 11G (value is physicaly stored for every column)
    2. "as a metadata" - new 11G functionality (default is not physicaly stored and if you query the column DB transalte NULL value to defaut value)
Now I would like to now if my column is type 1) or 2). How can I do it?
    Thank you.Filip

  • Content Organizer bug - PDF files does not get routed correctly if autodeclaration is on and library level default values are set

It looks like whenever one specifies Column default values at a library level then the content organizer routing goes a bit awry SPECIFICALLY FOR NON OFFICE FILES [e.g. PDF] . Below are the observations and issues
    1. Column level default value set on a record library with auto declaration of records turned on.  The content organizer routes the document to the library but also keeps a copy of the document in the drop off library. It does not remove it from the drop
off library. The instant we clear the default value settings at the library level of the target library the content organizer works as expected again.
    2. If default value settings are specified on a column in the target library then the PDF file gets routed to the document library but all the metadata is blanked out. The copy of the file that remains in the drop off library has all the correct metadata but
the target library has blanked out metadata.
Are the 2 observations described above by design or are they bugs? If so is there any documentation that is available that proves this because this does not make logical sense and proving this to a client in the absence of any documentation is a challenge.
The problem goes away if we shift the default value to the site columns directly at the site collection level. It's just the library level defaults that the pdf files do not seem to agree with

    Hi Lisa,
Thanks for responding. This can be replicated in any environment but is only replicable for a specific combination of content organizer settings . The combination of settings I am referring to can be seen in the screenshot below. If you turn off redirect
users to the drop off library for direct uploads to libraries and if you turn on sharepoint versioning then you should be able to replicate the issue. Also we are using managed metadata site columns. I simplified this use case to a custom content content type
with just 2 custom managed metadata columns and can still replicate the issue in several environments. Also note the issue does not occur if the default values are set at the site or site collection level. It only occurs if you set the column value default
at a library level.  I was able to replicate this on a completely vanilla Enterprise records site collection freshly created just to test this.  Also note that the issue is not that the file does not reach the destination library. The issue is the
document does not get removed from the drop off library after it is transfered to the destination library which technically should have gotten removed.

  • Default values in tables for function module

    Hi,
We've created a function module and it is their requirement to have a default value for the tables in the FM? How do we do this? Cause if it is just an import parameter there is a column for default values, but for tables there is none. How do we code this?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
In the start of the function module you can check the table and set your default values.
    FUNCTION ...
"Check whether the table is initial
"Do not override the value passed by the user
    IF itab[] IS INITIAL.
itab-field = 'DEFAULT'. "Set your default value
    APPEND itab.
    ENDIF.

  • Adding Default Values to a Large Table in 11gR2

    All,
For 11g, I understand that the way that we add columns with default values is different. I'm running 11.2.0.3 on AIX 5.3.
For instance, if I do this:
    ALTER TABLE mark_heavily_used_table ADD random_field2 VARCHAR2(10) DEFAULT 'Seven' NOT NULL;
Instead of updating all the rows which already exists in the table, the database instead pings the data dictionary view for the default value for this column.
This is great whenever I come to ADD or MODIFY a column. But wouldn't this increase the time it takes to SELECT from the rows which have columns 'pointing' to the data dictionary view? Instead of a straight SELECT on the table, won't it have to do two operations (go to table, find it's got a default value and then go to data dictionary)?
    Mark

It has to go to the dictionary anyways, so the only additional time is rewriting the select return results. See January 5, 2012 reply in https://asktom.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:2575782100346318728

  • Default value in Entity Object for SYSDATE   ??

    hi ,
I have a database table which has a DATE column and default value for this column is SYSDATE.
I want to set default value for this attribute in my EO as I am doing for all other attributes .
What will be the value of Default Property of entity Object for SYSDATE ??
    Thanx,
    Prasoon

    Hi,
I succesfully implemented a default systimestamp value.
I suppose that the same implies for a default sysdate.
    In the DB:
t_created TIMESTAMP default systimestamp NOT NULL
    In the Entity Object:
    Attribute: TCreated
Type: Timestamp => in your case Date
    Persistent: yes
    Updateable: never
    Refresh: after insert
Database column: T_CREATED type TIMESTAMP => in your case DATE
You could have problems if you leave access to the attribute (updateable flag != never), in this case I suppose the framework adds the Field in the sql insert statement and that would overwrite the default value definition.

  • Reset default values - unfilter action

    Hi all,
How can I reset  input UI elements( Input Text or Drop Down) to the default values ?
I have a form that contains Drop Down, Date Picker etc.
This form used as a filter for some dashboard.
It contains 'filter' and 'unfilter' buttons.
The question is how can I put the default values to the form UI elements while clicking the 'unfilter' button.
Please note that unfilter action is working ( I pass default values to BAPI) but UI elements doesn't initilized to the default values.
    Thanks,
    Ola

    HI Ola,
you cannot "reset" an input field to the default value. You have to re-enter the form that contains the input field, i.e. there must be a data flow into your form. This data flow must contain the default values.
Another option is to use a drop down box instead, containing the possible filter values.
The input field does not refresh a value automatically. Only an expression box does. There, however, you cannot enter texts.

  • Default values of columns not transferred in SSIS Transfer Objects Task

I am working on a project that is creating a new application, my area of the project being the migration of data from the old application database, transforming it, and populating the new database.
The transformations to the old data are done in a staging database.
At the end of the process, the staging database ends up with a lot of new applications tables, populated with the migrated legacy data.
We need to move these tables from the staging database to (initially) our test databases, but ultimately what will be the live database.
We have tried using the "Transfer SQL Server Objects Task" in SSIS, but have ran into a problem that a lot of the database tables have default values for columns.
These default values are not brought over.
Example. Tables contain a "GUID" field, which has a default of value of newid()
Right clicking and the table generating the CREATE script generates
[GUID] [uniqueidentifier] ROWGUIDCOL NOT NULL CONSTRAINT [DF_tbCRM_Client_GUID] DEFAULT (newid()),
However, the Transfer objects task does not create this default of newid()
Examining the SQL generated by the Import / Export Wizard when investigating this shows that the wizard generates this column as
    [GUID] uniqueidentifier NOT NULL
and the column default value is lost.
Is there something i should be setting somewhere to force SSIS to bring these column definitions over correctly?

     Kaarthik Sivashanmugam wrote:
This behavior is by design to maintain backward compatibility with the Copy SQL Server Objects task in SQL Server 2000. Only two constraints (Primary key and foreign key constraints) are expected to be copied by Transfer Objects task.
thank you for you response Sivashanmugam.
How can I move these tables (of which there are over a hundred) from my staging database into the application database - and keep the table definitions correct?
I cannot use the transfer objects task, as this will not define the tables correctly.
I cannot use the import and export wizard, as this will also not define the tables correctly.
This means I will manually have to code the drop, create and inserts for over a hundred tables?

  • Need default value to populate for existing items in list column.

I have a list that I have been working with for a while. I recently added a new column and made it a choice type with a drop down list. I have set the default value to "Not Started" (an option in my drop down list) but it seems it will only
populate for new items created in the list, not existing ones as well. Is there any way to have it populate for the existing items as well? Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi Russ,
You can do so by opening the list in the datasheet view and paste "Not Started" for all items in the new column you have created.

  • Import and default values for columns

    Hi guys
I have a table in which there are default values for some columns. I take export of this table.
I go to another database where this table structure is already there (but default values are not set). I run the import of table with ignore=Y. It does all...import the data...create the indexes and all...but doesn't set the default values for the columns.
Shouldn't it do that also ? ignore=Y means that ignore the object creation errors and proceed with the rest of the stuff ? Or there is some problem in my understanding ?
Version 10gR2 on AIX 5.3 and using traditional export/import.
