DSL down for 3 days... Richmond VA area

We frequently have issues with our Verizon DSL. Constant disconnects, sometimes up to 15 times in a day. Now it just plain doesn't work at all. The DSL light on our modem has been solid green for 3 days, but no Internet light. We have tried 3 different modems, all with the same results. We called tech support yesterday and the nice Indian man told us it was a problem with the central office and to just be patient. When we asked if he had any information regarding a timeframe when it might get fixed he said he did not.<br><br>We have had technicians come out to the house numerous times in the past for DSL issues, only to say &quot;I can't find any problems, here's a new modem to try&quot; and the connection issues still persist. We currently pay for both a DSL connection and a dial-up service just so we have something to fall back on temporarily when our DSL inevitably craps out.<br><br>This is a bit ridiculous to me. Why should we have to pay extra for dial-up just to insure we can use the internet because your DSL service is so unreliable? Why pay for something that hardly ever works at all? Because you're the only high-speed option in our area besides DirecTV's satellite Internet service, and even their own technicians say it's worse than DSL.<br><br>I can't find anything online stating that there is an outage in our area at the moment. Obviously your residential customers are very low priority since it's been out for 3 days and no one knows when it will possibly be fixed. I can only assume working on the Internet is a 9-5 job with weekends off so we're probably screwed until next week since today is Friday.<br><br>I can promise you when we get a chance to move to an area that provides some other service besides Verizon DSL, we will be switching and never looking back. I have never seen such an unreliable Internet service. Dial-up is much more stable than your DSL, but is not convenient for us since it can only be used by one of us at a time. The AT&amp;T DSL that I had back in California worked more often than not. I cannot say the same for Verizon. It's nothing but a headache and I cannot wait to change services if something else ever becomes available in our area.

Got a call saying they fixed the problem at the CO and our Internet should be working again. Surprise, it's not. What a joke.

    Any files you uploaded to Creative Cloud are still there. The sync app, Creative Clould Connection is current unavailable because of an outage but you should still be able access your files in a browser at https://creative.adobe.com/files

  • SQL 2000 Database Maintenance Plan drop downs for days, weeks, months, not displaying

    When setting up a SQL 2000 Database Maintenance Plan the drop down for Remove files older than is not populating with hours, days, weeks, or months. It is just blank. The version is  Microsoft SQL Server  2000 - 8.00.2039 (Intel X86)  
    May  3 2005 23:18:38   Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation  Desktop Engine on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2). Is there a fix for this issue?

    was missing from MSDE 2000, but that was fixed in SP1 I think. Since this is SP3
    you probably have a missing registry value for the backup directory.

    had to fix a similar problem last year on a bunch of laptops. They were all
    missing a registry value. Anyway, here is the fix:
    1. Fire up regedit and
    look under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\MSSQLServer
    2. Ensure you have
    a string value called BackupDirectory. The value for this should be the path to
    your backup dir. The default value is C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
    Server\MSSQL\BACKUP
    btw, this fix assumes you have a default instance
    installed. A named instance will have slightly different registry location and
    filesystem path.

    Hi! I am hoping someone out there has an idea of what I can do to end this recurring problem! It happened before, when I first did the latest upgrade...but, it seemed to resolve itself...now, it happened again!  This time, it has not resolved...now, I fear I will need to pay to get it fixed...or buy a new one, which I can not afford. (It is a iPad 2, but all I need)

    For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices. 
    That all works.
    It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
    I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

  • IMessage activated finally, but what about all those iMessages I couldn't receive for days. Where are they?!

    I had the problem of not receiving messages after updating to IOS 7. I was finally able to reactivate iMessages after restoring my phone. BUT, is there anyway to receive those iMessages that I couldn't receive for the last 5 days, or are they forever lost in the abyss?
    Help! I know there were some important messages I COULDN'T receive while iMessage was messed up!
    Anyway to catch those from outer space?

  • CC file sync, down for days

    A few days ago, a "pause" indicator appeared on the CC icon in my menu bar.
    When I open the CC menu, it says File Syncing and Font Syncing are turned off. When I click "Resume Syncing," a notification reports a generic "Creative Cloud server error," which leads to this help page:

    None of my filenames contain Windows-reserved characters, lengths above 260 characters, or trailing characters. None are aliases, nor are any in use. There are no conflicted copies – or at least none are labeled as such. (These are stupid limitations, btw...) Removing all of my files resolves the error, but obviously doesn't fix the problem.
    Q1: why can't CC just tell me which file is causing the issue, instead of making me hunt for it?
    Q2: how the hell am I supposed to resolve a file I can't find?

  • OMS Jobs could not execute after server shutting down for days in holiday.

    Hi all,
    I found yesterday that all jobs won't run after a long term holiday(several days),the Oracle Management Server and the database server installed on different machine,all shutdown before holiday.Those jobs were scheduled to perform day by day without ending date.
    Howerer,when we come back to work and startup database server and the Management Server,in the past two days those jobs won't run anymore.I add a new job and find it can run correctly.And I found there is many extra connections from OS users DBSNMP to database,why?Each time I stop the agent service on the database host,and then restart it,I found in the jobs history lists there is failure notice said "job failed while running due to the agent stopped".
    Should I recreate those jobs again?There is about 20 different jobs,my God!

    Try editing boot.properties file in both Admin server and bi_server1 in these two locations
    domain/servers/AdminServer/security/boot.properties
    domain/servers/bi_server1/security/boot.properties
    Once it is done,Try restarting and let us know the outcome.

  • Connect API Down for Nearly 6 Days!

    Does anybody else use the Connect API for Connect Pro Hosted?
    Our API access has been down for 19 hours now - I have multiple tickets opened with no response.

    Update 4/15:  Working on 48 Hours now.  It seems to me that a hosted service that stays down for days at a time may not be such a good deal.
    Update 4/16: 3 days of unavailability for a hosted product is unacceptable - by any measure.  Is there any truth the rumors I heard that Adobe is on a company shutdown this week forcing most employees to take mandatory vacations?  If so, this seems like a stupid idea now doesn't it?
    Update 4/19: After a 6 day downtime, we were able to get the problem fixed by hunting down an email address from the last time we had a major outage.  Our ticket in the support system still sits, unanswered, for 6 days.  In what world is acceptable for an unplanned outage to last 6 days?

    I am somewhat new to the whole api / xml parade.  I type the calls manually to be able to set items outside of a curriculum to be prerequisites for a particular item inside of a curriculum.
    Now, all of a sudden, it's not working as expected.  When I rebooted just to check now if I do an "sco-info" call it says resource not found?!
    Does this mean the api is down?
    What are the obvious symptoms that it's down?

  • 4G LTE service down in the Norfolk, VA area?

    I've not had a 4G LTE connection in several days.  3G working well, but the speeds are, well, 3G speeds.  I work in Norfolk, VA (23501) area and live in the Smithfield, VA area (23430).  Usually get outstanding 4G LTE service in both locations, and along the commute route.  4G has been down for days.  Can anyone explain why or if they are experiencing similar issues?

    It's a network problem. Probably due to congestion. I never had slow data during off-peak times. I tried to work with customer service to get it someone to look into it and service the nearby towers but they just make it way to convoluted and confusing to get anything done. Thanks Verizon and your forced arbitration.
    I switched about a month ago to Ting Mobile. It's now costing me half the price and my data speeds are actually 4G. Ting.com.

    Open Activity monitor in Utilities, go to the CPU tab>All Processes, and note any process that would appear to be related to importing photos, such as iPhoto, and use Force Quit. This may only be a temporary fix, as it may start all over again when you reboot. If that happens, we need to do some more investigating.
    Also, close all open Applications, then open Terminal in Utilities and copy/paste and hit return, then post the output of this command.
    lsof -l +L -R -V | grep /

  • HSI connection dropping, either DSL down or PPPoE unavailabl​e, 10-15 times a day

    Located in Powhatan VA, 23139  Westell 7500 modem, and the modem is configured with PPPoE credentials.  Starting around 10am, the DSL connection regularly drops for most of the morning until about 2-3pm.  Seems tolerable the rest of the day.    Once connection is lost, it stays down for 2-30 minutes at a time.
    I ran a straight line from the Verizon box outside to the DSL modem, so no other devices are in play.  All computers are wireless connections
    Noticed there does not seem to be a way to open a repair request from the website?  Online chat seems pretty useless.

    Your line is having a physical issue with the quality of the signal coming in (and going out). Your Attenuation is high, your margins are low, and your speed, especially on the upstream isn't where it should be. Proper sync rates are 864kbps upload, 3360kbps download.
    If you have Voice Service with Verizon, do you by any chance happen to hear static, humming, buzzing, or other noise on the line? This would indicate a trouble with the line somewhere that will certainly affect DSL.

    Hello, Finally resorting to a forum post as the trial sign-up seems to have been down for about a week now. Are my eyes seeing right?
    I go to the sign-up page
    I sign in to my Live account.
    I go through mobile verification.
    The upper section collapses, the payment section expands, and I see a blue line move back and forth for 20 minutes, until it finally times out and redirects me to a login page.
    Is this working for others?  It has been down so long that I start to wonder whether there is something wrong with my Live account (although I have actually tried two different accounts).

    Which region is that VM in? In addition, what error messaga have you recieved when you connected into the VM?
    Firstly, I recommend you to check the quick glance of the VM to make sure that all the parameters are displaying. If not, please restart it to see if the issue persists.

    I figured it out!!!
    Hey guys! Here's what I did that saved my project.
    -SHORT VERSION-
    Use the Finder window on your Mac to copy and paste your old project (the one not showing up in imovie) to a new folder so that iMovie will see it.
    -LONG VERSION-
    CONDITIONS:
    The project has to exist on your hard drive. To see if it's hiding around somewhere go to:
    Home (your name)>Movies>iMovie Library (right click and select Show Package Contents)
    In the iMovie Library folder (the default is usually the date) open it to see if your Project is inside. If it is, you are in luck!
    RESTORING PROJECT:
    Open iMovie
    start a new folder under the iMovie Library (again, the default is usually todays date)
    Close iMovie
    In the finder window (as explained above in the CONDITIONS section) select the files and folders of your project and copy them (in my case these consist of folders called Analysis Files, Original Media, "MYPROJECT", Render Files, Shared Items)
    There should now be a folder with today's date in that Show Package Contents folder.
    Paste a copy of your project;s files into this folder.
    When it is done copying, open up the "Original Media" folder and all of your images and clips should be present.
    reopen iMovie. Your project should show up in the Libraries list.
    *If your full project isn't showing in the iMovie timeline (mine just had empty bubbles where all my clips and audio should be) try dragging and dropping the clips and images from the project's "Original Media" folder into the import section of your project. Once the files were reimported, iMovie recognized them all and put them back in the correct place for me.
