DSO with flag "SIDs Generation upon Activation" deactivated

Situation 1:
I am using a standard DSO. The flag "SIDs Generation upon Activation" is not set. Note 1392715 states:
"... If you deactivate this flag, reporting is still possible since missing SIDS will be created during the query runtime from 7.0..."
Question 1:
What is about characterstic values with already existing SIDS? Are they selected at query runtime? Are SIDS created during query runtime for all characteristic values, even if the characteristic value has got a physical SID in its master table? Gets a query on this DSO faster, when pyhsical SID will exist in the respect master tables?
Situation 2:
I am using an infoobject with flag "attribute only" in a standard DSO. The flag "SIDs Generation upon Activation" is not set in this DSO. This DSO is connected to a virtual virtual provider based on DTP. The query Q1 on the virtual provider reports the infobject with the flag "attribute only". The query Q2 on the DSO doe not report the infoobject with the flag "attribute only".
Question 2:
What is faster? A query on a virtual provider or a query on a DSO with flag "SID Generation upon Activation" is not set.

1. There will be there at base tables. Query runtime it won't select sids.
i think no, it creates sid for the records which don't have sid.
along with sid, its depend on the selections/filters/data volume on dso.
Question 2:
Query will be faster on dso. because virtual provider pulls data during report excution and may take more time than reporting on dso.

Proformance issue with 'sid generation on activation'

Hi Gurus,
In our BW(NW 2004) system we are using Cognos as reporting tool, due to process chain failure at DSO level we unchecked 'sid generation on activation' and chain running successfully after that.
unchecking will be a performance issue due to generating sid's at run time as per SAP.
My question is as i am using Cognos in place of BEX. what are the possiblities of effecting the performance and alll?

Hi Suresh,
Irrespective of what is the reporting front end you use, if you use this DSO for reporting it would generate the SID values at the runtime which will have huge impact on reporting performance. Just removing the SID generation option would temporarily fix the load issue, with quick activation of DSO but it will affect the most important area reporting performance.
Try to solve the issue with SID generation error while activating at the BW side which could be because of the special character issues and once you fix that your process chains would load fine with a far better performance while reporting on this DSO.

Hi All,
I am loading data for Sales Item for this i have enhanced the DataSource. Now while i am loading the data to DSO it is giving error while activating the DSO--SID generation error as it found some hex. values.
To overcome this i tried with TOUPPER formula for that field but still it is giving error. So i have removed unchecked the check box 'SID generation upon activation' as i am not going to use this DSO for reporting.
But i am transferring data to InfoCube where again it is giving the same error.
Kindly help me out to overcome this error.

Always Load Master Data before Transaction data to get rid of SID Generation Error.
And Hex Values FM -- CHAR_HEX_CONVERSION.

SID Generation Failed : How to identify which record in PSA

Hello guys,
I have a DSO where the SID Generation has failed for about 4 records due to lower case letters. I would want to fix that in PSA.
How do I identify which record/package in PSA to change it. I have about 11,50,000 records. The DSO activation log gives you the error but doesnot give any information on which record or the key of the record.
Is there a way to identify the packet id and the record no. in PSA which has this problem so I can fix it. Its literally impossible to find out because each package in my PSA has about 40 - 50 thousand records.
Any help would be rewarded.

Hi.......
Go to the display message of the DSO activation step..........Right click display message........there it will give you which master data...........which packets......
Also you can go to the IP monitor..........in the details tab.........there is one tab comes ODS activation........click on that...........there also you will be able to find the errorneous data packets.........

Sid generation

Hi,
I come cross invalid characterisitc error while activating ODS. I got several replies that we have to change the data in PSA / allow that invalid char in RSKC. I would like to know what exactly happening while activating ODS and how SID's will be generated.
In the current DSO, I have material and 0Vendor is an attribute for 0Materail. Obvisouly I cannot modify 0Vendor in PSA as it was defiend as attribute for 0materail. As per details tab it is saying datapacket 117 failed with "invalid char' for 0Vendor. But how how PSA will get data for master data.
And even if 0Vendor has invalid char, it should throw an error while loading data for 0material.
Pls clarify all the above questions.

1) For 0material i have loaded master data it does not meant that SID' already generated as a part of Master data loading. And I am using this master data in Curreny DSO, then why Shuoul I generate SID while ODS activation.
With the Generation of SID Values indicator, you specify whether SIDs are created for the new characteristic values in the DataStore object when the data is activated.
2) Here I am referrring PSA for DSO not for master data. But as per the threads I have to change these records in PSA (DSO). However this PSA does not have any Master data. And when should I use "SID generation on ODS activation" setting.
If you are reporting on a ODS, you should use this setting. PSA contains all the data from the source system. PSA contains master data.
When data is uploaded further, system allocates the respective SID to the characteristics.
3) As per your answer Invalid char can be loaded upto PSA (Master data) but while activating only it will through error.

How do I use page numbering and a text block in a footer in Word with the Report Generation Toolkit?

I am creating a Word document with the Report Generation Toolkit, and LabVIEW 8.2.1. In the report I am using a template that has page numbering enabled in the center. When I try to add a text block to the left side footer, it eliminates the page numbering and adds my text on the left side. I found "Set Report Footer Text" and "Word Set Page Numbering" vi's that may be the clue to this. When I use these two vi's I either get Page 1 of 456789-001 on the left side, or if I reverse the order I get only 456789-001(text) in the left side with nothing in the center. What I would like to achieve is 456789-001(text) on the left footer, and Page 1 of 2 in the center. Is this possible and if it is, then how can I do it?

I have attached a vi where you can see how they can be made to work together. You have to design it such that one follows the other. If you don't design it that way, it results in a race condition and only one of them get executed.

DataLoad into Write-optimized DSO with DTP and semantic groups

hi gurus,
i'm going crazy with my current problem.
i searched in the other posts of this topic, but i did not found a solution.
here my situation:
i created a w-o-DSO with semantic key (0ucinstalla, 0calmonth, zbelnum, 0unit) and three key figures.
now i'm loading from several cubes data into the DSO. (i need the historical data)
in every transformation, i implemented an expertroutine which collects the data into the result_package.
in the routine, i even clear the record number before collecting the result_rows.
in the DTPs, i'm using a semantic group for 0ucinstalla in order to select all rows for one 0ucinstalla into one data-package.
each DTP has to run one time in full mode.
but when i schedule the third DTP, i get the message: "duplicate record"
i checked the active data in dso. there was no record with that semantic key.
i found a record with the same 0ucinstalle for a diferent month - in my opinion, thats no duplicate record...
is there a dependence between semantic key in DSO and semantic group in DTP?
how can i solve this error?

I have a PDF form which gets submitted to the server using a submit (server-side) button. The data is then received in XML format by a ColdFusion component which does some validation and stores it into the database.
This PDF form is usually filled in by our clients using Adobe Reader 8 or below. While most of the times(and I mean like 96-97% of the times) everything goes well, at times we receive blank data into our database!! This renders couple of other features in our application useless as they try to parse an XML which does not exist.
I do believe that this is not a problem at the ColdFusion side because all it does is trim(ToString(toBinary(GetHttpRequestData().content))).
Does anyone has a clue as to why the data will be lost upon form submission?? I have done a lot of googling around it but in vain!

There is an outside chance someone is just playing with you and submitting a blank form. Not uncommon if someone is not too familiar with forms.

Hi Sameer, indeed your issue seems to be linked to PDS creation. Your PDS CIF jobs must be failing if I am not wrong.
You would need to identify which PDS in APO (or which version in R/3) has issues.
Go to CQ transaction mentioned earlier, select teh row containing the issue, and then click on the display icon on the right side top. This will show you the entries in the internal tables taht were being passed on in the CIF.
From here, you need to identify the production version from R/3 that is having issue. I don't have a stuck queue at hand, so can't tell you which table would contain information. Somewhere you would find out the name of the product/location that is having issue, and then you need to check what is the issue with the version. Seems the same mode is being used multiple times in some activity, or in R/3 side, the same resource is being used multiple times in a single activity.

Question about Google Translator with flags for BC website

I am looking for a solution for my website , I am using Business Catalyst as platform to create the website. I am looking for simple one code/plugin/HTML solution which I can copy paste in the website for the translation. I want to put google translator with flags on my website in the top right hand side. I want to translate my website in 9 languages and want to put 9 country flags on the top right hand side, which translate languages on click event on "same page" , I want the translation must take place at the same page after clicking on the flag. How-ever I successfully integrated google translate with dropdown option but want to integrate google flag translations on my website.
Please let me know what can be done here.

Don't use google translate, it's the worst user experience you can ever give a user and makes the site look like it was designed by a 12 year old with a grammer problem. Machine translation is no were near anything good for a production website currently and even more so for non latin languages like Japanese, Chinese, Korean etc.
Case and point, throw a few lines of text into google translate, then reverse the translation back to english, you'll see my point.

Ive learnt that, in an ODS, when the BEx Reporting is flagged, SIDs are created for the characteristics.
Are the SIDs always created or only for the case when the Masterdata for the characteristic are not available?

Problems activating / deactivating Tabstrips

Hi people,
I'm creating a dialog program that has a tabstrip with a set of 4 tabs, which (excepting the last one in the right side, which remains active permanently) must activate or deactivate given some conditions (values exist on internal tables).
My problem is, when activating the first tab in the Tabstrip (the one on the left side), the screen <a href="http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/1640/26008729du2.jpg">appears like this</a> ("Cuenta de Mayor" is the tab that never deactivates, the activated tab is behind it).
Once selected, <a href="http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/2429/75553586xs2.jpg">it returns to normal status</a>. Is there a solution to this other than getting the tab that never deactivates as first in the Screen painter, or selecting the first tab programatically once activated (i've tried the first of this solutions and it solves the problem but i'd rather prefer a better solution)?

What i want is to them to appear or dissapear regardless of which the active tab is at the moment, maybe i've been confusing in saying activate /deactivate, i'd rather say showing / hiding.
This is working now as it is but the problem is when showing the first tab, since it gets showed behind the other tabs as you can see in the first screen.
Any other suggestions? Many thanks to you anyways, i'm awarding points.
UPDATE: it happens whatever the showed tabs is/are, it doesn't necesarily has to be the first one.
To be more precise in explaining the problem: When setting any tab visible, the tabstrip shows <a href="http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/1640/26008729du2.jpg">like this</a>. I need it to be <a href="http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/2429/75553586xs2.jpg">like this</a> but without setting "Gastos Serie" as active.

Why can't I get the slider on the right side to remain "active" ?
I'm using iTunes 11.4 on a Mac Pro with OS 10.9.5
In good old iTunes 10.7 there was a slider on the right side that you can move up and down to locate songs. That same slider is there, (but much smaller), with iTunes 11.4, but it seems to deactivate itself for reasons I do not understand.
I have found that when I go to the lower right corner and resize the iTunes window the slider will appear briefly. If I don't act very fast, that slider vanishes and I cannot scroll up and down.

As Apple said in June, iOS 7 is not compatible with the 4G iPod.
