Dump while background processing
Hi
When I run my program in forground I am able to download the file on PC.But when I run the program in background its generating the spool but its not creating the file on my PC for the path I have giving and also its not showing any output in the spool that its creating. When I remove the download file option and execute the program in background it works fine.
Please advise.
Thanks and Regards
Davinder Singh
You cannot download to your desktop in background. When you execute in the background, the execution actually happens on the server end and your server will not know your desktop location at that time. That is why it dumps. If your local directory structure is mounted on the application server, only in such cases, it treats the desktop locations similar to application server location. But even in those cases, you cannot use WS_DOWNLOAD or GUI_DOWNLOAD etc. You have to create a file on the application server using OPEN DATASET, TRANSFER, and CLOSE DATASET commands.

Hi Gurus,
We are facing a short dump while scheduling process chains, as follows:
<BR><BR>
Runtime Errors UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
Exception CX_RSR_X_MESSAGE
<BR><BR>
Error analysis
An exception occurred which is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_RSR_X_MESSAGE', was not caught
and
therefore caused a runtime error.
The reason for the exception is:
No text available for this exception
<BR>
Information on where terminated
Termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPLRRMS" - in "RRMS_X_MESSAGE".
The main program was "RSPC_MAINTAIN_SINGLE ".
In the source code you have the termination point in line 82
of the (Include) program "LRRMSU13".
<BR>
We tried to schedule it as a remote process chain from some other system it cancelled the job there with an ERROR_MESSAGE. We checked the RFC Connections at the source system side but it is working properly. We then tried to schedule the chain manually, we had this exception. Then we tried to have a look at previous logs of the process chain. It had this exception. We tried to reactivate the chain it was successful but when tried to schedule the chain same issue again. We tried to run the Meta chains under the same chain separately. They too gave us the same exception.
Please help.

HarishHello Zhou,
indeed, as you mention the ALV grid, there are some workarounds in the system, but there is no global solution. For example, the function module REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY detects internally whether it is called in background mode, and in this case it forwards the call to REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY which is runnable in background mode, since it creates an ABAP list.
But normally, when using objects of the control framework in your program, you are restricted to dialog mode.
Kind regards,
Rüdiger -

"cannot submit to background processing" while converting
Post Author: PAyalon
CA Forum: .NET
Hi.
In my web application I export reports to PDF, it's works fine on dev server, but throws exeption on IIS:
"Error in File C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\temp_0d804620-e578-40f0-947e-7bd11af7e3a4.rpt: The request could not be submitted for background processing."
I gave already all permissions to IIS_WPG and ASP.Net user but it still do not work.
On my develop machine (win Xp) both servers work fine.
My be I have a problem with license, course my test machine is server with 2 processors? Thanks, after a looooong night of re-installing
back from DVD to 10.4, then up to 10.43,
then re-installing FCP 4 and DVDSP 3, and doing all patches, both my Compressor 1.21 works great as before, and I got my printer settings back.
An added bonus: 10.4 dumped my "processor" control panel, but A.Pack is working fine now, with BOTH processors! I guess with Tiger, you
no longer need to utilize the "turning off of one processor fix" for A.Pack? -

Background processes while starting the R/3 system
hi all
I have IDES R/3 4.7 installed in my hard disk,
and when i start the background processes normally the status has to be Wait , yes.
But these days when i started the processes, i'm getting the statuses as "Ended" with all the 12 background processes,
and i can't be able to get into the login screen.
can anyone tell how to get the processes states to wait and yes state.
ThanksHave a look at the dev_-traces located in /usr/sap/work directory. You should pay special attention to dev_w0 and dev_ms, and then look through the other dev_w files.
I guess, there you will find a hint leading you to the cuase of the issue -

164Hi Hardeep,
Looks like the transformation and DTP need to be activated again.
The error is RSBK (299) - 'Invalid program status'. So please activate the transformation and DTP possibly activate the DSO's too.
It should then work.
Thanks
Amit -
Hi All,
In process chain, While executing DTP( from PSA to ZINFOOBJECT-Master data), I am getting the following ABAP Dump:
Runtime Errors TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED
The internal table "???" could not be further extended. To enable
error handling, the table had to be delete before this log was written.
As a result, the table is displayed further down or, if you branch to
the ABAP Debugger, with 0 rows.
At the time of the termination, the following data was determined for
the relevant internal table:
Memory location: "Session memory"
Row width: 5356
Number of rows: 0
Allocated rows: 138348
Newly requested rows: 2 (in 69173 blocks)
How to correct the error
The amount of storage space (in bytes) filled at termination time was:
Roll area...................... 416432
Extended memory (EM)........... 2002720576
Assigned memory (HEAP)......... 1999932640
Short area..................... " "
Paging area.................... 24576
Maximum address space.......... 4294967295
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
keywords:
"TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED" " "
"SAPLRSSTATMAN" or "LRSSTATMANU12"
"RSSTATMAN_UPDATE_DATASTATE_EXT"
Could any one suggest solution
Thanks and Regards,
Umakanth JalduHi Ramanm
Please suggest how to do repair custom info object in RSRV and the info object is loading from two different dtps and both dtps are failing because of same error. The process of DTP is showing but not moving to next process type.
Dump:

Short text
No more storage space available for extending an internal table.
What happened?
You attempted to extend an internal table, but the required space was
not available.
What can you do?
Note which actions and input led to the error.

For further help in handling the problem, contact your SAP administrator
.

You can use the ABAP dump analysis transaction ST22 to view and manage
termination messages, in particular for long term reference.

Try to find out (e.g. by targetted data selection) whether the
transaction will run with less main memory.

If there is a temporary bottleneck, execute the transaction again.
-

If the error persists, ask your system administrator to check the
following profile parameters:

o ztta/roll_area (1.000.000 - 15.000.000)
Classic roll area per user and internal mode
usual amount of roll area per user and internal mode
o ztta/roll_extension (10.000.000 - 500.000.000)
Amount of memory per user in extended memory (EM)
o abap/heap_area_total (100.000.000 - 1.500.000.000)
Amount of memory (malloc) for all users of an application
server. If several background processes are running on
one server, temporary bottlenecks may occur.
Of course, the amount of memory (in bytes) must also be
available on the machine (main memory or file system swap).
Caution:
The operating system must be set up so that there is also
enough memory for each process. Usually, the maximum address
space is too small.
Ask your hardware manufacturer or your competence center
about this.
In this case, consult your hardware vendor
abap/heap_area_dia: (10.000.000 - 1.000.000.000)
Restriction of memory allocated to the heap with malloc
for each dialog process.
Parameters for background processes:
abap/heap_area_nondia: (10.000.000 - 1.000.000.000)
Restriction of memory allocated to the heap with malloc
for each background process.
Other memory-relevant parameters are:
em/initial_size_MB: (35-1200)
Extended memory area from which all users of an
application server can satisfy their memory requirement.
