Duplicate Digital Signatures

Hello,
I have a form where a single individual will need to sign in three places using the digitial signature "click" box.  This requires saving it multiple times, so I'm either trying to have him/her sign once and the block is auto duplicated (like any other block with the same name) or have it so he/she doesn't have to save it after each signature.
I can't change the names of their sig block be the same for each one.  Thanks for your help!!

Neither is possible. As you've found, a signature field has to have a unique name and each time a signature field is signed, the document has to be saved.

  • Digital Signatures in Reader

I'm trying to update the security settings to a PDF I've converted from a Word document so that my users with Reader version 9 can not only fill in the data fields, digitally sign the document and save it. On the menu, I select, Advanced, Extend Forms Fill-In & Save in Adobe Reader... This allows my users to fill in the form field and save the document but it does not allow them to digitally sign the document. When I go File, Properties, Security, my document shows the following below. Where in Acrobat 9 can I change restriction Signing to Allowed while still allowing my users the ability of Filling of form fields and Saving the document?
    Regards,
    Ian

First, some clarification - Using either "Enable" (Acrobat 8) or "Extend" (Acrobat 9) Adobe Reader 8.x or better can "place" a digital signature - so, a signature field does not have to be provided.
Looking at the screen shot you provided one document restriction shown is:
"Signing: Not Allowed *" - with this present, a user of Adobe Reader will not be able to "Sign".
Playing with Acrobat 8 & 9 to "enable"/"extend" I cannot duplicate a Document Restrictions Summary similar to the screen shot.
From "Extend" I get Changing the Document, Document Assembly, and  Creation of Template Pages shown as Not Allowed. Signing is allowed.
As long as the PDF you send out has Sign: Not Allowed * there'll be no signing possible by users of Adobe Reader. Some how you are getting a restrictions set similar to one obtained via setting of Password security.
In a sort of Brownium Motion manner, some thoughts -
--| Compare the details of each step to what is discussed in Acrobat Help - anything different?
--| Check Help > About -- is the installed Acrobat fully updated to the latest dot release?
    --| Try a "repair" (Help > Repair)
    Be well...

  • More Digital Signatures Stuff

So were trying to implement a PDF document that has a bunch of fields in it, and then after a someone signs it, it then get sent to an Informix DB as a BLOB.
It then needs to be approved by a supervisor, so then the supervisor sees that it needs to be approved. The DB sends him the PDF document, he can then open it, and sign it and approve it.
After approval it gets sent back to database for storage and its processed. . .
    1. Can you use the Serial ID of the digital signature that is created using PKCS12 within adobe as a unique way of validating the signature of the person if of that person.
So that being said, we'd create digital id's for the user and then put that info into a field in the database and validte that matches when an ID is on the signature (this would be for validating the person is who they really are)
    2. I was thinking that it would be best to have the digital certs of the users to be on a global CA server??? bad idea? insight?
    3. I don't think that it is a good idea to use the digital id's you can individualy generate in adobe, because a user can easily make duplicates.. . so that is why i would think have a global CA would be best. ..

Tom, I had a similar problem. My Intel Mac couldn't play .avi files I had no problem playing on my PC. I tried to install the Divx codec, and that didn't work. Then I found that divx has a special universal version of the codec practically hidden in their site. Here's a url:
    http://community.divx.com/labs/viewEntry.php?id=157&cid=3
try installing that and let me know if it fixes your problem.

  • Restrict printing of a form with digital signatures

I hope this isn't a duplicate question...  Please forgive me if it is; I did search the forums first.
I have a form that requires a digital signature from several people as it gets emailed from one person to the next.  Unfortunately, some of the people can't grasp the concept of digitally signing the form, therefore they print the form, sign it with a pen, scan it, and email it. (Very frustrating...)
Is there a way to prevent them from printing the form while still allowing me to print it once I receive it. I'm the last person in the signing chain and need the ability to print a hard copy listing all the digital signatures.
Thank  you so much for the advice! I really appreciate it!
    Heath

    Hi Heath,
Yes it can be done, and it's not that hard to do, but I am going to get a bit techno-geeky here. In the Acrobat world you can sign an encrypted form, but you cannot encrypt (or change the encryption of) a signed form. You can solve the problem by encrypting the form (most likely you'd use password security because it's the simplest).
First a word about PDF file encryption. Using file encryption gives you two things, control over who can open the file and the ability to restrict what they can do with the file once they get it opened (such as print). You are going to want to encrypt the form before anyone signs allowing all but printing to occur. Then when the users open the form they can fill out form fields and sign the file (at it's heart digitally signing a PDF file is just a special type of form fill-in), but they will not be able to print the file.
Here's is where things get a bit geeky. The key is when you encrypt the file (assuming you are using Password Security) you need to apply both a Document Open Password and a Permissions Password. Would it be simpler if there was no Document Open Password, yes it would, but then you wouldn't be able to print the form either. By using a Document Open Password when anyone (including yourself at the end of the signing work-flow) tries to open the file they will see this dialog:
You will supply all of the end-users that you want to sign the file the Document Open Password. Once the file is opened the Print functionality will be disabled so all they will be able to do is fill it out and send it back via e-mail (or a Submit button is you added one to the file). Eventually the file will get back to you, but when you open the file (and get the dialog above) you'll type in the Permissions Password. That tells Acrobat that you are the "document owner" and it raises the permission set to "allow all", and thus you will be able to print out the file. As long as you only share the Document Open Password and keep the Permissions Password to yourself no one else will be able to print but you.
Could this work with Certificate Security or Rights Management Security, yes it could, The steps would be different, but the outcome the same. Since I'm guessing that you'll use Password Security here's what you'll want to do:
    Open the unsigned file
Select the File > Properties menu item
Select the Security tab on the Document Properties dialog
Select Password Security from the Security Method drop-down list
Select the Compatibility and Encryption options at the bottom of the dialog (I suggesting that you do this first because if you change them you may need to reenter the passwords again)
Select the Require a password to open the document checkbox
    Enter the Document Open Password
Select the Restrict editing and printing of the document checkbox
In Printing Allowed drop-down leave it set to None
In Changes Allowed drop-down select Filling in form fields and sign existing signature fields
Select the Copy checkbox at your discretion
Enter the Change Permissions Password (it must be different then the Document Open Password)
    Click the OK button
    Confirm both Passwords
Click the OK button on the Document Properties dialog
Save the file to apply security
Now, when you reopen the file, if you use the Document Open Password printing will be disabled, but if you use the Permissions Password printing will be enabled.
You can also simplify this if you use the Tools > Protection panel, but I don't want to dump too much on you at once.
    Good luck,
    Steve

  • Why is there no digital signature for firefox 4.o for MSWindows?

It looks unprofessional that I get a Security Warning when I run Firefox Setup 4.0.exe !
N.B. I have just searched for “digital signature” in the forum, and did not find this post — I apologise if this is therefore a duplicate, but I am unimpressed by the search function!

Firefox 4.0's digital certificate was issued on 18 March 2011 and can be accessed by right clicking the installation file, going to "Properties" and then clicking the "Digital Certificate" tab. See screenshot.

  • How can I duplicate a signature?

The project I am working on has a few times where this shows up. The signature on the first page carries over to the second and 3rd pages. I know how to duplicate the other fields with the Global option but is it possible to allow a signature to do the same thing. So once the first page has been signed it will automatically sign the last 2 pages?
i tried to add <bind match="global"> through XML and only received errors.
    Thanks.

The signature on each page is usually done for wet/ink signatures but it is not needed for PDF based digital signatures which are applied on entire document.
so when digitizing the paper workflows to digital signature workflow only one signature can be used.

  • Digital signature properties field name via javascript

I am creating secure digital signature fields with random number names with similar prefixes.  The idea is to have multiple fields available in a single regular PDF (non portfolio).  So on each sheet we sign 3 fields.  One field is a name, another is a date and the last is a release.  This goes on every sheet and the PDF would contain up to 1500 pages.  Adding a random number to the end of each field name was the only way to make this work....now I have a problem of finding the particular fields for my script to sign the sheets.
I am guessing that there must be some way to identify how many fields I have on a sheet and return the name of all the fields.  If I can get the name of all the fields I can use that info to run my script to place the digital signature appearances in their correct field.  My field names all begin with either 'Date', 'Sig' or 'RFC' followed by a random number to avoid duplicate fields.
So in a nut shell, how can I find the names of the fields via JavaScript?
    Thanks you!

Are you able to add another prefix, specifically using hierarchical field names that include the page number? For example, on page one the fields could be named:
    P1.Date[random number goes here]
    P1.Sig[random number goes here]
    P1.RFC[random number goes here]
You can then get all of the P1 fields like this:
    var fields = getField("P1");
and then use the getArray method to get an array of the individual field references and iterate through the array.
Otherwise, you can loop through the fields and look at the page property of each to determine which ones are on which pages. You can use the getNthFieldName document method and numFields document property to do this.

  • Digital signature and input fields issue

    Hello,
I guess that I found some kind of BUG in forms. If you have a form with two text input fields, one as ID ot the field which is computed, read only (user can not change it) and regular value input text field, and digital signature field at the bottom.
Once you sign the form, you can select on the signature field, what gets locked after signing. If I choose both text fields, they look like a label on the PDF after signing.
What concerns me is once you remove the digital signature, the ID text field becomes edditable by the user, which is a bug in my opinion.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    J

I tried this and could not duplicate the behaviour that you reported.
I created a form with two fields and a signature field.  The first field I set to "Calculated - Read Only", with the following script on the "Initialize" event,
    this.rawValue = "1234";
I created a field collection that included the calculated field and associated it with the signature field. I opened the form, the calculated value appears and is read-only, I filled in the second field and signed the PDF. (Both fields were locked).  I cleared the signature field and the original Read Only calculated field remained locked, while the second field was editable again.
I used Designer ES version 8.2.1

  • Update on 10.6.8 fails due to digital signature on update is missing

wanting to install the Parallels version 10 and it won't work on 10.6.8 version of my Mac OS so I learned how to go to the software update which indicates an update is available. When I go ahead and load the update it runs fine and then stops with a message that the Macbook Pro EFI Firmware Update can't be saved. It says the digital signature on the update is missing or invalid.
I don't know if the digital signature is on my computer or the update? I would upgrade to a more recent version of the OS but don't know what will work.
    Can anyone help?
    Dan

Parallels 10 isn't compatible with 10.6 according to the web site.
    Mac Requirements
    Hardware:
A Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor (Core Solo and Core Duo processors are no longer supported)
Minimum 2 GB of memory (4 GB of memory is recommended to run Windows 7 in a virtual machine or if your host OS is Lion)
About 850 MB of disk space on the boot volume (Macintosh HD) for Parallels Desktop installation
About 15 GB of disk space for each virtual machine
    Software:
OS X Yosemite 10.10 or later
OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 or later
Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 or later
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 or later
Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) model number 5,1 or higher
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.
    Application Compatibility
    Applications Compatibility (2)
    Do a backup before installing.
If you can/do upgrade, I recommend you make a copy of the installer and move it out of your Applications folder. The installer self-destructs. The copy will keep you from having to download the installer again.  You can make a bootable USB stick to install using this free program.

Note - Mavericks is no longer available.

  • Making Multiple Digital Signatures Read-only in Form (Acrobat 9)

I have created a form which includes two (2) digital signature fields.  What needs to occur with the form is Person1 fills the form and then digitally signs it thereby making the form fields read-only .  Person2 then digitally signs the form which should make Person1's digital signature read-only.
    Here's what I've done:
    1) For the Person1 digital signature field, in Digital Signature Properties, under the Signed tab, I have selected Mark as read-only <all fields except these> and selected the Person2 digital signature field.
    2) For the Person2 digital signature field, in Digital Signature Properties, under the Signed tab, I have selected Mark as read-only <all fields> since once Person2 signs the form I do not want Person1 to be able to clear the digital signature and make changes to the form.
    Here's what actually occurs:
Step 1 above works fine.  Once the signature is applied all the form fields are read-only except for the Person2 digital signature field.
The problem is that after Person2 digitally signs the form, even though I selected all fields as read-only, Person1 can 'clear' their signature which leaves all the form fields available for editing and leaves Person2's digital signature still on the form.
I honestly don't care about 'validating' signatures on this form since it's going to be printed but I cannot allow Person2's signature to remain on the form and allow Person1 to edit the form.

  • My computer will not let me download because it says there is no digital signature I need this for a college course how can i download it?

I am taking a web design class and my instructor wishes us all to use the same browser. She has provided a link in her syllabus and it does go to the download site for Firefox. However, as I am running the download my computer pops up with "there is no digital signature" and "this file is corrupt" and will not download it. What to do?

Make sure that you do not run the file directly, but save the file to the Desktop and start the installation via a double-click.<br />
You may need to unlock the file via the right-click context menu: Properties > Security
