    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List

  • Duplicate File Name error for Unicode file names

    I am trying to rip my music collection from CDs to iTunes. I have decided to use my local language (Bangla/Bengali) as Track/Artist names using Unicode. I can edit the CD Info perfectly. The problem started when I try to import the tracks to iTunes as AAC/mp3. The first track is always imported ok but subsequent tracks fails to be imported. iTunes gave an error message saying the file name already exists where as it was not.
    Please help.

    I reported this to Adobe customer support on 11/29, and here is their response:

  • Error in Duplicate file Handling

    Hi All,
          We want to avoid duplicate files in XI for that we used below code in  UDF in mapping
    try{
    String processedFileDatabase = processedFile[0];
    String sourceFileName;
    DynamicConfiguration attrib = (DynamicConfiguration)container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey fileKey = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http:/"+"/sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
    attrib.put(fileKey,attrib.get(fileKey));
    sourceFileName = attrib.get(fileKey);
    File fileDB=new File(processedFileDatabase);
    if (!(fileDB.exists() && fileDB.canWrite() && fileDB.canRead())){
    fileDB.createNewFile();
    Vector fileNameList = new Vector();
    BufferedReader br = null;
    br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(processedFileDatabase));
    String name = new String();
    //loop and read a line from the file as long as we dont get null
    while ((name = br.readLine()) != null)
    //add the read word to the wordList
    fileNameList.add(name);
    br.close();
    boolean fileAlreadyProcessed = fileNameList.contains(sourceFileName);
    if (!fileAlreadyProcessed) {
    Writer output = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(new File(processedFileDatabase),true));
    output.write(sourceFileName + "\r\n");
    output.flush();
    output.close();
    result.addValue("" + !fileAlreadyProcessed);
    }catch(java.io.IOException e){
                e.printStackTrace();
    But this is not working ..its unable to Map....
    Plz help us in this regard,

    The file name is not going to fileDB and hence it is unable to create the target element.
    I followed the below link solution 2

    I seen that fileDB file is empty ,

  • Any advice on software to find/eliminate duplicate files (SL compatible)?

    Hi, I have 3 computers and files all over the place, including many duplicates. Can anyone suggest a good, reliable SL compatible software that allows me to compare and delete duplicate files,

    I used TidyUp to clean up the mess in my wife's Pictures folder. It did a pretty good job.

  • How does Photostream handle duplicate file names?

    My sister has an iPhone and an iPad, and takes photos with both. Her husband has an iPhone, and also takes photos. They have a PC. Photostream is enabled on all of these devices.
    Now, since all three devices use a simple sequential file numbering system (IMG_XXXX), they will produce duplicate file names.
    This, of course, becomes an issue when you consolidate the photos taken by multiple iOS devices in one folder as is done by Photostream on PC.
    Which brings me to my question: How does Photostream (on PC) handle duplicate file names? Does it simply overwrite, keeping the one with the latest date, or what? Does it inform the user in any way?
    Oddly, I have seen little discussion on this. It really seems like Photostream is pointless

    FOLLOWUP. Below, is a clearer explanation of my concern/question.
    My sister has an iPhone and an iPad, and takes photos with both. Her husband has an iPhone, and also takes photos. Photostream is enabled on three devices. They have a PC. iCloud Control Panel for Windows is installed, and Photostream is enabled.
    Now, since iOS devices use a simple sequential file numbering system (IMG_XXXX.JPG), when you consolidate these images into one folder as is done by Photostream on PC, you will sooner or later encounter two (or more) different photos that have the same file name. Different photos with the same file names can/will happen when you consolidate images taken with different iOS devices into the same folder.
    Which brings me to my question:
    How does Photostream (on PC) handle duplicate file names that are not duplicate images?
    Q: Does it simply overwrite, perhaps keeping the one with the latest date taken? In this case Photostream will not contain all of the photos it should.
    Q: Or, does it do something to create a unique filename when it encounters a duplicate file name? For example: IMG_0001, IMG_0001(1), IMG_0001(2)
    Oddly, I have seen no discussion on this. I hope someone can help me understand how Photostream handles this so we can decide how best to use Photostream, or if it is a feature we want to disable.
    Thank you,
    Lilla

  • BUG: "Don't Import Suspected Duplicates" FAILS for two identical files (same name, same MD5)

    Using LR 4.4, I'm seeing duplicate files not detected when the files have the same name and identical content (same MD5).
    Adobe support takes me here, although I'd rather file a bug.
    I've isolated a small test case where I have a directory with a small number of images (taken at the same time with the same camera.)
    I can copy this directory to a different location, then try to import it and one of the files will not be detected as a dupe.
    I've tried re-reading the metadata for the existing library file.
    Files have the same name and same checksums.

    According to the Lightroom documentation
    Lightroom determines a photo is a duplicate of another file in the catalog if it has the same, original filename; the same Exif capture date and time; and the same file size
    Please confirm that your "duplicate" files meet this criterion

  • Optimizing a search for duplicate files in a filesystem

    We have a large directory that people have been dumping to for years (~200k files), and I want to go through and look for duplicate files. The first part of this was just scanning through and checking for duplicate file names.  I wrote a simple VI to serarch for duplicates, but it is very inefficiant because of multiple string comparisons. Even optimized as much as I could think to do, I'm only scanning about 1k files / minute.  I have attached my code - any help would be appreciated.

    search.vi ‏22 KB

    This is trivial using the variant attributes mentioned earlier.  Attached is my method which uses the Variant Repository XNode I developed.  Not sure on performance comparisions.
    EDIT:  I'm betting the thing that will take the longest will be performing the MD5, I'm sure a CRC32 could be done faster which is probably just as good in this situation, or even a sum of the bytes of the file as a quick way of identifying the file.

  • How to find file duplicates only matching size, not md5

    Hey guys, first post here.
    I thought I'd share this, since it was quite useful for me. It may not be the most elegant solution, but it worked for me .
    So, I have a terabyte (or so) of data, spanning 51,000+ files. Some are greater than 4GiB, many/most are ~4MiB. I have a (relatively) slow 1.6GHz Athlon, which doesn't really like md5-ing huge files , and I didn't need md5, just a size comparison. Unfortunately, all of the duplicate-file-finding tools I tried (including fslint, fdupes, dmerge, and dupseek) didn't have an option to not md5/sha1/hash in some form or another, or I did not find it .
    So I decided to use fdupes (it's nice and simple for my needs), and trick it out .
    I renamed /usr/bin/md5sum as md5sum.old, and created /usr/bin/md5sum with the following content:
    #!/bin/bash
    du $1|awk '{print $1}'|md5sum.old
    Yes, my bash skills suck, and there are probably better ways of doing it, but again, it worked in this situation . So it's basically taking the du output of the file passed to md5sum (hopefully, again, it worked), shortening that to just the size, and then md5'ing that, which is much faster, and based on the size.
    So now, you just run (e.g.):
    fdupes -r /path/to/files > /path/to/duplicatefilelist
    The -r is for recursive, and I'm redirecting it to a file because I know there will be a lot of dupes. If you don't have many, you could skip that.
    Then, fdupes scans the number of files, and has a nice progress percentage so you can see how much is done. After this is done, you'd want to remove /usr/bin/md5sum, and restore the old md5sum .
    I hope this is useful to someone else, and please share if there's a better way of doing this.
    Thanks!

    SahibBommelig wrote:
    You also might want to try rmlint (self-advertisement...) or rdfind, which both are able to find twins much faster than fdupes.
    If you really want only to compare the size you'd better go with karol's method.
    Ah, I find that md5's aren't that slow after all (yes, I realize that rmlint is smarter than simply md5'ing every file ). rmlint is very nice, thank you!
    One thing though...can I specify a "preferred" dir (when passing multiple dirs to rmlint), so that it has the "originals," and the "duplicates" are from the other directories?
    Thanks.

  • Create an iPod or iphone version - is there any way to avoid duplicate files OR automating a new name for the new file?

    hi,
    I have two devices for my videos. An ipod classic and an Ipad. I would prefer to keep the highest resolution possible but also will be travelling and it will be useful to have a large archive with me.
    I have found that many of the videos I have are "incompatible" with my ipod classic and am in the process of using the "create an ipod or iphone version" but this results in a duplicate file in my itunes library that is identical in everyway (except size and this can be bigger or smaller).
    When you buy a HD video off itunes, you get both versions but only one file populates in the itunes libary.
    Is there anyway that when itunes "creates the ipod or iphone version", it can do automatically merge these two files so you only see one file in your library? And then it will automatically sync the appropriate file with the appropriate device?
    Or is there a way to have itunes "create the ipod or iphone version" and have it automatically label it with the name "XXX (ipod version"?
    I am finding it very annoying to manually change all the titles on all the files being created.
    thanks, margaret

  • Check for Duplicate files.

    I have multiple folders with duplicate files, i was wondering what is the best way to check for duplication based on file content even if the file name is slightly different.

    There are several commercial software options. I suggest that you use the ones that use SHA1 matching.
    Decloner is pretty good, and it comes with a 30-day trial that is FULL FEATURED.
    http://www.pixelespressoapps.com/decloner/
    Only works on snow leopard and up.
    Their website conviniently compares other duplicate file software packages.
    I purchased Twins, which is also great.

    Remember, SHA1 is the way to go if you want to find duplicates with highest accuracy.

  • Duplicate file handling using Module

    Hi All
    The Scenario is like this------
    XI is picking a files from FTP location.
    Duplicate files are also getting picked by XI.
    To handle this i have written a module using NWDS which is finding it out wheather the file is duplicate or not. If the file is not duplicate then it is getting processed.
    Now the problem i am facing is
    I dont want to process the file if it is found duplicate, then what code i should write.
    What are the ways i can stop the processing of duplicate file.
