Duplicate group message

Anybody having an issue with iMessage in iOS 8 where group chats are duplicated? Specifically, messages that are sent in the group by person A through C appear in group chat 1, but messages from person D appear in chat thread 2. This is happening to me with different groups of friends. This has been occurring in iOS 8 and iOS 8.02. None of us installed .01. We have a mix of iphone 5, 5s, 6 and iPads that are all experiencing the same issues.

Yes, I am having the exact same problem as you. I think this may be because someone or some people in the group chat are not running iOS 8. So whenever the person without iOS 8 responds to the Group Message, the message would appear in a different group chat.
I am experiencing the same problem as well, and I have to admit that it is very annoying and I hope Apple fixes this bug soon. The problem is so bad that I dont reply in the Group Messages anymore because it is so confusing.

Unfortunately there isn't official commercial support for Mozilla Thunderbird from Mozilla Corp.. I believe some contributors here ([http://mozilla.magicfab.ca myself included]) do offer such support, though.

Regarding your issue, it looks like the mail folder information may be corrupt. In the left pane, in the folder list, right-click on the Sent folder and select '''Properties'''. Choose "'''Rebuild Index'''" or "'''Repair Folder'''" - do you even have that option? Once done, exit TB completely and restart it.
Updating to a newer version will help anyone help you, if only because some of the documentation for older Thunderbird versions is a bit harder to find and testing to try & reproduce your problem will be harder. Don't do this just yet, though :)
After this issue has been addressed I would suggest considering using IMAP if your provider allows you to, and of course archiving your email to Local Folders and doing regular backups of your profile.

Duplicate Groups and how to get rid of them

Somehow (maybe by having sync from iTunes and from MobileMe I have duplicate groups of calendars and contacs. With the same information in each group, I can't get rid of one set or the other. How can I do that and which one should I get rid of (if there's a choice)?

If you are syncing contacts and calendar events over the air with your MobileMe account on your iPhone, if you also sync contacts and calendar events direct with the Address Book and iCal on your Mac via the iTunes sync process, this does nothing but duplicate your contacts and calendar events on your iPhone.
Prior to firmware update 3.0, it wasn't possible to sync contacts and calendar events over the air with a MobileMe account and/or with an Exchange account and sync contacts and calendar events direct with a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process. Apple included the ability to do both primarily for those syncing business contacts and calendar events over the air with an Exchange account who also wanted to sync personal contacts and calendar events direct with a supported application on a personal computer at home via the iTunes sync process. When doing so, you can view business and personal contacts and calendar events combined or separately. When doing this with a MobileMe account, this does nothing but duplicate the contacts and calendar events on your iPhone.
To get rid of the duplicates, deselect sync contacts and calendar events direct with the Address Book and iCal on your Mac under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences followed by selecting Apply.
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Select your MobileMe account.
Turn Contacts and Calendars off for over the air syncing.
A warning message will be provided indicating this will erase all contacts and calendar events downloaded from and kept synchronized with your MobileMe online address book and calendar along with an option to store this data locally on your iPhone. Decline the prompt to store this data locally on your iPhone.
This will not erase the contacts and calendar events on your iPhone that were synced direct with the Address Book and iCal on your Mac via the iTunes sync process.
Follow this by turning Contacts and Calendars back on for over the air syncing. You will be provided a merge prompt, which you want to select.
This will get rid of the duplicates on your iPhone.

IOS 8 creating multiple group messages with same recipients

After updating to iOS 8.0, my iPhone 5s has started creating multiple group messages with the same recipients. For example, my phone has created three group threads with the exact same people in it. Different friends' messages go to different threads. It is terrible confusing and annoying. It has done this with several of my group messages. Deleting the duplicate threads have not worked. They keep recreating themselves when certain people text the group.
Any suggestions? This has been a problem for many of my friends as well.

Do you and your wife use the same Apple ID and are connected to the same wifi network? Your phone ringing to multiple devices is called Continuity and is a feature of iOS8. https://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/continuity/
Essentially, it allows you to use your iPhone cellular connection on all of your iOS8 devices: iPhone, iPad, Mac computers with Yosemite. On some devices the call will look like it is coming through FaceTime, but likely on your wife's iPhone it just looked like a regular call.
Since your iPhone was "hosting" the phone call through it's own cellular connection, you were able to pick it up after your wife answered, which caused your wife's phone to disconnect. This is called Handoff and is also a feature of iOS8.
You can turn off Continuity if you'd like, but you could also look into getting your wife her own Apple ID. I'm guessing you were sharing one so that you didn't have to make purchases twice. Also in iOS8, there is a feature called Family Sharing which allows you to link multiple Apple IDs and share purchases (among other things).
In regards to the group text message issue, as far as I can tell, splitting group messages is NOT a feature. I agree that there should be an answer to this already!

Why was group messaging removed by Verizon?

Recently got my HTC 8X and love the phone but noticed that it wasn't able to send group text messages. A quick search seems to show that Verizon removed the feature. Why?

Am I the only one that enjoys the fact that Moderators are editing what users are posting on the threads that talk about the absence of Group Messaging but they refuse to comment on them. . . It is obnoxious that something the Windows Phone pretty much pioneered with the release of the WP7s two years ago is not on the WP8s only on Verizon. I called a Customer Rep just to see if I could get anything out of him on the possibility of a messaging app coming out that would support it, I kid you not, he said, "I am sorry, can you explain to me what Group Messaging is? I have never heard of it." When I took the bait and "explained" to him a feature that he obviously knows about he then continued to say "I don't think the Windows Phones support that feature, if they did it would be available on your phone." At that point I hung up because I could no longer listen to the blatant lying that was trying to be veiled as ignorance.

IPhone not showing all replies to group messages

In the last month my iPhone 5 has stopped showing all replies to group messages.
For example a friend shall send a group message to another friend and I, I shall either not see this message but see another friends reply in a text message that appears to be between the two of us. Or see the group message as an individual conversation between two people with no replies from other parties.
I am currently running iOS 7.1.1
Can anyone help me?

At the bottom of the page Settings > Messages you should have a section headed "SMS/MMS" Turn MMS messaging on then you can turn group message on.

How can I not reveal group members' email addresses when sending a group message?

Use BCC instead of TO. That is what that feature is for.

I group messaged from my ipad and this has screwed up the way my messages are reveived by my friends (it creates new threads in their phones with my email in place of my contact name) I've stopped messaging from my ipad but the problem remains. Any help?

I have an iPhone 4S and use the group texting feature ALL THE TIME. I recently updated my iPad to the latest software and made the colossal mistake of continuing my group messaging from my iPad while connected to wifi. Doing this has successfully screwed but every group text thread I am in, to the point where its very hard for those involved in the thread to keep up. When I initially messaged those I was already engaged in text threads with it created a new thread in their phones replacing my name in their phones with my email. At first this was not a big deal but ever since then the people I am messaging have become increasingly frustrated with how my messages come through. If I am messaged in a group text and respond to it, sometimes when I respond it will create an entirely different thread in my recipients phones. So at that point they have to switch threads in order to read what I wrote. The new thread that my phone creates will send the message under my email not my name (related to the contact they have me saved as in their phones). The worst part about it is that there seems to be no rhyme or reason to why or when my phone will send the message as normal or under my email like it did with my iPad. I haven’t messaged from my iPad since these problems immediately began a month ago but the issues still continue. I have tried everything to get this to stop, I’ve turned off my wifi, I’ve had my friends delete the threads that my messages create in their phones. I’ve had them delete my email in their contact lists and nothing has worked. Can you help me? Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Note: My phone message no different whatsoever. All the threads have remained the same. The issue is what it is doing to the people that I am messaging.

I have this identical problem. For a while my group texts didnt show up on my ipad. Then one day they did, maybe everyone in the group started using the same os version or something. Ever since my first reply to the group there have been complaints of multiple threads. I can not find a pattern for when my group text's decide they want to create a new thread. (it doesnt happen every time) Everyone in the group has deleted the thread, we've all toggled imessage on/off etc. There still hasn't been a solution.
Any help would be appreciated.

How can I get out on a single group message

I am in a group text message with 10 people and I only have contact information for one of them. I do probably know everyone in the group but as I said I don't have information for pretty much any of them, which makes it super annoying since I have no idea who is saying what. Also with a group of this size, I get bonbarded with like 15+ messages in like a five minute period. I got added to this group two days ago and I have already received at 100 messages in this group, which is especially annoying when I am at work or this morning when I was sleeping.
I have an iPhone 5, and I really do not want to go in and disable all of the group message features, because I have several with my family and would to still be able to use those. Please tell me that there is a way to get out of a single group message. Thanks for the help.

There is, currently, no way to get out of a group iMessage other than asking the person who started such to remove you, or:
Show up at their house with two enforcers & "politely" ask that you be removed .

How do I fix a problem group messaging with one non-iphone user and several iphone users?

My brother switched from an iphone to another smart phone several months ago. The rest of our family all have iphones. When he made the switch, my sister suddenly had problems with group messages going through for him--they went through as imessages for her instead of SMS or MMS. I didn't have that problem until a few days ago. I upgraded to an iphone 6 about a week ago, and group messaging my brother worked fine at first, and then a couple of days ago, suddenly stopped working. If I am texting him singly, it's fine. But in group texts, it automatically sets at imessage.
He has called apple and his number is completely deregistered with imessage. Does anyone know what else we can try? I have deleted all previous messages that were imessage and deleted and re-entered him as a contact.

I'm assuming neither of you heard back from anyone? I'm having the same issue - just in the last few days. The non-iphone user is not receiving texts from the group message because it is sending as an imessage. It flipped to imessage randomly last week. I've tried to delete the group message and restart it; same issue. Would love to hear how to resolve, Apple!

If a group message doesn't completely go through, how can I see who did not recieve it?

I tried to send a mass text message (note: I have group messaging turned OFF, but I just used the field where you can send the same message to multiple recipients), however, it came back saying that "Your message was not sent. Tap "Try Again" to send this message." I know that some people recieved the text, as they replied to it, however I'm fairly certain that one or two people did not recieve it. Is there any way to figure out who did not correctly get the message from within the app? Thanks.
