Duplicate software inventory records ....

I am getting duplicate software inventory records for the same machine in the MAP 9.0 database. I was under the understanding that once a machine was successfully scanned, additional inventory records
for that machine would not be added during subsequent scans.
After 4+ scans, we are seeing the same software title show up multiple times on the same machine.  For example, using
the product name of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 as an example, I get a count of 405.  But there is only about 250 unique computer names with this product.  Some machines are listed twice, some triple, some quadruple just for this one
product (even if the ProductVersion is identical). We did 4 scans of the network in order to capture all machines, including any that hadn’t been inventoried.  So I’m not sure why it captured some machines more than once and others only the one time.

Question: just to confirm, the de-duplication process (for generating standard pre-built reports/worksheets) in MAP 9.0 will NOT remove machines with different hashes, correct?
Correct
Question: does the issue you raise have anything to do with doing an AD only scan then an IP one (or the reverse) or would just a combined one (AD and IP) also lead to similar issues?
If you use one discovery method on the first inventory scan, then use a different discovery method that does not include the host name, such as IP address, on a subsequent run, it is possible that you will see duplicate results, although I've found it to
be less likely.
Question: Is any inventory data populated in MAP 9.0 for a machine that does not "successfully" complete its scan?
If you use the AD DS discovery method, then MAP will populate some information, such as OS, from fields in the AD object properties.
Question:
>> I need to point out that any device with a WMI status of anything
>> other than success cannot be de-duplicated, so it will show up regardless.
Can you be more specific.  Where will it show up? (i.e. in which MAP reports)?
The Inventory Results report has a list of all host names discovered. If IP discovery was used, then any IP address that had something connected to that IP but MAP was unable to establish a connection to will show up with the IP address for the computer
name in that report as well. There are several other reports throughout the tool that display machines for which MAP failed to connect, but the Inventory Results report is what I was referring to specifically.

  • Normalize Software Inventory

We use SCCM 2007 R3 in our environment. Enabled Asset Intelligence Six Months ago.
However, Count of all instances of software registered with Add or Remove Programs report still has lots of Duplicate and garbage data.
Is there a report, which can provide the normalized Software Inventory report which lists only Licensable products rather than all the freewares.
I would require the report with following information.
    Product Name
    Vendor
    Count of Installation
    Licensable (Y/N)
    Please help.

    Hi,
No, there is no such report that filters out freeware, I am sorry to say. You woiuld have to do that yourself. The  Count of all instances of software registered with Add or Remove Programs isn't cleaned up when you enable asset intelligence, you will
get additional reports and the possibility to import your licenses.

  • Access to hardware and software inventory?

It seems that as soon as I make someone an administrator in the ZCM console, they get access to all the detailed hardware and software inventory of all devices. Is this true and if so, is there a way to deny it?
What I want to be able to do is allow someone to manage bundles but not have access to the detailed hardware and software inventory of all the devices. Is this doable? I tried various combinations of deny rights but can't seem to get it to work.

  • Free Items delivery not displayed in inventory records

    Hi
We created sales A/R with item and issued free item. When we are going to inventory records, it is showing only sales item details but not free item.pls help
    Kishan Rao

    Dear Venkat,
Please clarify to me a few things:
    1. The first line item is different than the second line item???
    2. If yes then you are maintaining the stock of the second line item seperately or in a seperate WH???
    3. If no then are you manintianing the items Serial No. wise. which will help you to differentiate which items to be given free.
    4. you have mentioned that the my problem is it is not deducted from the inventory records of the free qty.
Which means that you are maintaining the items to be given free seperately. Here what is that you excatly require because when it tried the same the inventory does get deducted.

  • Duplicate software componentn in Integration Repository

    Hi Experts,
I have a scenario here in which I was trying to move my objects in Integration Repository from dev to prod by simply exporting it. I have done exporting all objects by choosing " All objects of Individual Namespaces ".
Now, my problem is when i successfully Imported my objects to production. It does not update the existing Software component version where my object is located, but instead, it creates a duplicate Software component containing the same Software component version and namespaces(old-running in production and newly created objects).
I haven't activated this yet, beacause I was trying to delete this, but whenever I try to delete what I have imported, it says that the old namespace would be affected since they have the same namespace in which this is already running in production.
Do you have any idea how can I delete what I have Imported, our Go-live would be next week. and also how will I export my objects in dev, without duplicating it in prd.  Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I hope you  can try " Reject Changes" if didn't activated the SWCV. Else for deletion, you can use below weblog.
    /people/siva.maranani/blog/2005/05/22/how-to-delete-software-component-from-integration-builder

  • Identifing duplicate master data records using the MDM Import Manager

    hi all
I read the Topis "How to identify duplicate master data records using the MDM Import Manager</b>"
i tried to create import maps and to set rules. but when i import them it creates the new vendor records for each rule with rest of the fields blank.
when i import vendor data all the three fields i.e Match rate , match type and match group are blank.
    My Question is :
I am getting vendor data from SAP R/3.
In which source (in lookup xml file or data xml file) do i have to include these above three fields and how all the rules will be reflected in repository?

    Hi Sheetal
      Here we go when do you Import any data (vendor master) please follow the following steps;
    1. First of all apply the map to the source data
    2. In the Match Record tab there are 3 possiblities
a.[Remote Key] : Checks the current source rec with
repository along with all the fields - This is
         default
b.Remove [Remote key] - by double click the same; and
choose any single fields like Vendor Number or
name - Then the current record will be matched
with the repository based on the field.
c.Instead of single field you can choose combination
         also.
    3. Based on the Match results, match class will be set
       automatically;
       a. None
       b. Single
       c. Multiple
    4. Then Match Type
a.Exact-All the individual value matches are Equal.
b.Partial-At least one value match is Equal and at least one Undefined; no value matches are Not Equal.
c.Conflict-At least one value match is Equal and at least one value match is Not Equal.
    5. then chek the Import status and Execute the import.
    Hope this helps you.
    cheers
    Alexander

  • Software Inventory in SCCM 2012

We have successfully modified SCCM software inventory to compare the deployment result to a webfarm.
However, our issue appears to be that the total row of data gathered is increasing every time the scan is done.  Is this because the SCCM is repeating and keeping the same scan data as new entry in the database ?  Or, is it that the scan was not
complete last time it ran and it is continuing to pick up from where it left off since last time it scanned ?
What is the logic in keeping the scanned data ?

Without your query no one can answer this question. It would be a guess at best.

  • How to select a row from duplicate set of records?

I want to select a row from a duplicate set of records.
below is the explanation of my requirement.
    select * from test_dup;
    COL_BILL     COL_SERV     COL_SYS
    b1     s1     c
    b1     s1     g
    b1     s2     c

    b2     s2     g
    b2     s3     c
    b2     s3     g
    b3     s3     c
Here what I want is, for a distinct col_sys if col_bill and col_serv is same then I need the row where col_sys='c'
from the above result set I need the following:
    b1     s1     c
    b1     s2     c
    b2     s3     c
I am using the following SQL query which is giving me the correct result set. But it will hamper the performance because there are total 45 columns in the table and total volume is around 50 million.
    select * from test_dup where col_bill||col_serv in (
    select col_bill||col_serv from (
    select col_bill,col_serv,count(*) from test_dup
    where col_sys in ('c','g')
group by col_bill,col_serv having count(*) >1)) and
    col_sys='c';
Can anyone please provide me the optimize SQL query for the same.

  • Is it possible to query software inventory report for Oracle SQL developer installation?

    Hi all
My company requires to generate a report of all kinds of Oracle database access tool. I can find Toad installation from Add/Remove Program and therefore can query for Toad.
However, Oracle SQL developer is using Java. I cannot see an entry for Oracle SQL developer from Add/Remove Program. Is there a way to query inventory for Oracle SQL developer installation?
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards
    Lic

You might be able to use software inventory to report on the version of sqldeveloper.exe.
As the app looks like just a zip you extract to a custom location that might be one method.

  • Software Inventory and Reporting Services Seems Broken..

    Some basic info...
Server 2012, SQL 2012, SCCM 2012 R2. All products up to date. Enviornment has been running for about 2 weeks, with all the test clients being brought in a few days after server install.
I went to run the report "Computers with a specific product" two days and when I went to select my product, there were no values, as if the inventory process wasn't working. I verified in client settings and also saw that hardware inventory data
was coming back. I can run any of the hardware related reports and they have data.
I did add a couple inventory classes (Installed Executable & Installed Software) to see if that would help, but it did not. I've forced policy updates and run inventories again, still blank. Looking at InventoryAgent.log, it appears everything looks
good. I see the 4 software classes reporting back.
There is probably something simple that I'm missing, but I can't found out what that is.
Edit: Forgot to post the InventoryAgent.log file... http://pastebin.com/AkTWQurp

This goes back to the basic definitions of what the two different types of inventory actually do. Software Inventory is actually a file inventory and by default in 2012 collects *nothing*. To have it collect information about exe's, you would add *.exe (preferably
scoped to just C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files (X86)) to the software inventory configuration. This enables ConfigMgr to gather data from the PE header of the exe files which in turn is used for the report you called out (and others listed as Software
    Inventory).
The question though is do you truly want information about exes or do you actually want information about installed applications? Just because an exe exists does not mean an application is actually installed. That's where Add/Remove programs information
potentially comes in. Information in Add/Remove Programs is *not* collected by Software Inventory though -- as mentioned Soft Inv collect file information. ARP data is collected via WMI by Hardware Inv in ConfigMgr. To get this info, use one of the reports
that lists info from ARP. This is collected and is available by default.
ARP isn't the end all be all either and that's where Asset Intelligence comes in. AI is a layer of intelligence on top of Hardware Inv that collects additional details and adds reports that takes the raw ARP data and combines it with other evidence to give
you better information about "Installed Software". The AI reports are conveniently under the AI folder in the reports. AI is not however enabled by default so you must enable it.
Finally, even AI is not perfect because, as we all know users aren't actually the only bane of our existence but so are vendors who do non-standard things. That's where third-parties like BDNA come in come that provide even better interpretatin of the raw
    data collected by ConfigMgr.
