Duplicate Tables

As per my problem concern in my database i have 85 tables in my database out of 85 tables 42 tables which are created by me through sql command in oracle, and remaining 42 tables are same name but in capital letters with the same owner name and tablespace. Like suppose itemmaster which is created by me and other table is ITEMMASTER.
This problem is arrises when i export the all tables through sql 7.0 to oracle it export all the table to oracle successfully but when in oracle i go for the desc it does't allow me with this message view for this particular table is not exist.
Then i created my own tables with the same name in existing particular database and oracle allows me to create all the tables with same name. Now in my database there are 85 tables.
When i use drop command for any table which is in capital letter it drop my own created table.
How can i eliminate this problem pl. give me proper solution.
Prashant

Normally, Oracle will store tablenames in uppercase in the dictionary. The only way to make names case-sensitive is to place them in quotes. If you use quotes to create the table and you do not use uppercase characters to name the table, Oracle will use your case-sensitive name just like you entered it. Since case sensitivity is a pain to have deal with, my suggestion to you is create tables without quotes around the table name.
Observe:
SQL> create table "TeSt" (testcol varchar2(10));
Table created.
SQL> desc test
ERROR:
ORA-04043: object test does not exist
SQL> desc TEST
ERROR:
ORA-04043: object TEST does not exist
SQL> desc TeSt
Name Null? Type
TESTCOL VARCHAR2(10)

  • Cannot use duplicate table name error in AMDP

    Hi Experts,
    I'm developing an application which has the following architecture
    SAP UI5->Gateway->ABAP Managed DB procedures(AMDP)->HANA SP(Stored Procedure)
    We are having a very peculiar problem where the gateway service works inconsistently for the same input data.
    i.e If I execute the same service n number of times, I get the results successfully for say n-3 times but the other 3 times I get a "RFC Error :Error while executing Database procedure"
    There is no change in the input data or DB table data during all the executions.
    Running the stored procedure stand alone in HANA studio works all the time.
    We tried executing the AMDP from SE24 and the same behavior occurred.
    When trouble shooting we found that the exception occurs inside the AMDP when the call db procedure statement is executed.
    Could you please advise what could be the possible reason for this any tuning parameter/unavailability of db connections?
    Or could you please suggest some other troubleshooting mechanism by which we can zero in on the cause?
    When I go in the debug mode I can see the exact error as
    cannot use duplicate table name:  [288] SAPXXX.ZCL_PLAN_MAINTENANCE=>GET_COMP_TYPE#stub#20140905055908: line 15 col 3 (at pos 492): cannot use duplicate table name exception:

    No. It would be very confusing to do so. Can they not share an
    inheritance hierarchy? You can use flat mapping to do so.

  • Duplicate table in physical Layer

    Hi,
    I've created a duplicate table in physical layer , When i check view data on duplicate, getting an error. (Table or view doesn't exist). How to get out of it.
    Regards,
    Sri

    When you duplicate a table, you create a new physical table with a new name. If this table is involved in a query, the SQL FROM clause will list this table. If the table does not exist in the database, then an error will occur.
    Creating an alias creates a copy of the table in metadata that will be referenced in SQL with a new alias name. The alias name in SQL will be derived from the ID given to the alias in the metadata.
    The important point is that you are not creating an object in the metadata that requires you to create a new object in the physical database. If you duplicate a table in metadata, then that new table must map to a separate table in the physical database. If it doesn't exist, you will need to create it or you will get a SQL error

  • Duplicate table  and  Alias table in the physical layer

    Hi,
    I want a clear information regarding the duplicate tables in the physical layer of the rpd.
    I mean what is the purpose of the duplicate tables in the physical layer.........
    thanks,
    chinna.

    what do you mean by duplicate of physical table? is it Alias table?
    if then,
    -> aliases are created to break the circular joins (which are not supported by obiee)
    -> and, as per apps standards no operation can be done on base tables which are imported directly to physical layer. Only aliases are joined and will be used in BMM layer
    -> useful to re-use the table more than one time , best example: W_DAY_D in apps rpd

  • Alias Tables and Duplicate tables in Physical Layer

    Hi all,
    I have a small doubt in physical layer. We have two options when we right click table, 'Alias' and 'Duplicate'. To create another instance of a table, can we use any one of these. Does it make any difference
    Thanks & Regards,
    Jagi

    Hi,
    If u duplicate any table the join conditions will carry with respective tables , same name appending (TableName#1)
    In case of alias u need to specify joins conditions explicitly
    We can use same table with different constrains to the same table
    Aliases used, if you need to replicate a physical table and not create multiple tables with the same data
    If you delete any column in the Original table automatically deleted in alias
    table and Its not reflected in Duplicate table.
    Steps:
    Right Click the original table. Choose New Object and choose Alias.
    The mistake most people make is try to bring in the same table again and rename it or choose Duplicate by right clicking the original table.
    Thanks,

  • Duplicate table and Alias Table

    Hi,
    What is the Differnce between duplicate table and Alias table?which Situation we use these table ?
    Plz tell me .
    Thanks

    Hi,
    If u duplicate the table the join conditions will carry with respective tables , same name appending (Table_Name#1)
    If you duplicate a table in metadata, then that new table (with its new name) must map to a table in the physical database that has new name. If it doesn't exist, the SQL issued will generate an error.
    An alias is a reference to a table that already exists, not a separate database object.
    In case of Alias you need to specify joins conditions explicitly, we can use same table with different constrains to the same dim/fact table

  • Javascript code to enable an ADD button to create duplicate tables and pages for multiple entries

    I am using Adobe XI Pro. I have created a multi-page fillable pdf questionnaire that I want to make interactive to the user. Within each page, I have multiple tables that can have ADD buttons to duplicate the table if the client wants more than one test. I would like this table to insert directly below the previous table and they may be able to add upto 5 of these table.
    I also have a couple pages in the questionnaire that require duplication for multiple samples. Eg. One page per sample, and I may have upto 10 samples. I would like the javascript to have an ADD button and then add each page behind the previous related sheet (Original and duplicates together)
    I am not a javascript coder so I would need some examples and a walk through. I did take some developer courses in engineering but it has been almost two decades
    I have search on several forums and cannot find a good resource so I appreciate the help.
    Sincerely
    Tara

    Some of what you want to do can be done using template features and a bit of JavaScript, but if your users will be using Reader, version 11 will be required. You can dynamically add new pages, but adding new tables to existing pages with reflow of content that comes after is not possible with a form created in Acrobat. If you have access to Adobe's LiveCycle Designer form creation software, you can create what's known as a dynamic XFA form that can do all of what you want. You can ask in the LiveCycle Designer forum for more information: http://forums.adobe.com/community/livecycle/livecycle_modules_and_development_tools/livecy cle_designer_es?view=discussions

  • Duplicate tables in sql server

    i have sql server 2005 environment and have arounds 10-12 DBs.
    i have scramble data and duplicacy issue in terms of tables. when i talk about table m talking about table with the same name.
    there are tables with same name exists on server in multiple database. some having two duplicates, some having 3, 4, 5 and more...
    Also till now this server was working on God's will and i have just transitioned.
    i need few help as i work as DBA not developer so what can be done from DBA aspects.
    1. any tool or way which can let me know which table is primary n required as modify date of table is also not helpful.
    2. how can i move to know which DB table is needed on prod. and rest i can rename for some time before removing.
    3. as server also lacks refertial integrity, is there any automated tool or process which can suggest me possible relationship.
    any help would be appreciated.

    there are tables with same name exists on server in
    multiple database
    Whats the issue with that? Its perfectly normal to have tables with same name in multiple dbs
    I didnt understand why you're concerned with it
    1 and 2 you alone can determine as we dont know anything about your system and also on the tables
    3 you can use ALTER TABLE ADD CONSTRAINT statement to add foreign keys to create the relationships
    Please Mark This As Answer if it helps to solve the issue Visakh ---------------------------- http://visakhm.blogspot.com/ https://www.facebook.com/VmBlogs
    issue is you dnt know if you insert a record from website you don't know which DB table would get populated.
    system required restructuring so I was hoping if there is any way we can determine tables which are required and constraint it can suggests.

  • Generate quote off custom object--HTML in narrative duplicates table

    Hi,
    I am trying to build a quote header and lines off a custom object. Quote header works, but I am using a separate narrative report called from a web link to show the quote item lines data. The narrative section displays my basic table header and lines, but since the report returns two rows for the selected parts, the table with the header and lines is displayed twice, once for each row returned by the report itself.
    I just want one instance of the table, one header and two lines, not separate tables for each part.
    Here is the sample html placed in the narrative section of the report.
    <TABLE BORDER="5" WIDTH="50%" CELLPADDING="4" CELLSPACING="3">
    <TR>
    <TH COLSPAN="2"><BR><H3>TABLE TITLE</H3>
    </TH>
    </TR>
    <TR ALIGN="CENTER">
    <TH>Column A</TH><TD>@5</TD><TH>Column B</TH><TD>@8</TD>
    </TR>
    </TABLE>
    Many thanks for any input.

    Hi,
    Instead of putting it all in the Narrative section you could use the Prefix and Postfix like below:
    <!-- Prefix -->
    <TABLE BORDER="5" WIDTH="50%" CELLPADDING="4" CELLSPACING="3">
    <TR>
    <TH COLSPAN="2">
    TABLE TITLE
    </TH>
    </TR>
    <TR ALIGN="CENTER">
    <TH>Column A</TH><TH>Column B</TH>
    </TR>
    <!-- Narrative -->
    <TR ALIGN="CENTER"><TD>@5</TD><TD>@8</TD>
    </TR>
    <!-- Postfix-->
    </TABLE>

  • Moving Subpartitions to a duplicate table in a different schema.

    +NOTE: I asked this question on the PL/SQL and SQL forum, but have moved it here as I think it's more appropriate to this forum. I've placed a pointer to this post on the original post.+
    Hello Ladies and Gentlemen.
    We're currently involved in an exercise at my workplace where we are in the process of attempting to logically organise our data by global region. For information, our production database is currently at version 10.2.0.3 and will shortly be upgraded to 10.2.0.5.
    At the moment, all our data 'lives' in the same schema. We are in the process of producing a proof of concept to migrate this data to identically structured (and named) tables in separate database schemas; each schema to represent a global region.
    In our current schema, our data is range-partitioned on date, and then list-partitioned on a column named OFFICE. I want to move the OFFICE subpartitions from one schema into an identically named and structured table in a new schema. The tablespace will remain the same for both identically-named tables across both schemas.
    Do any of you have an opinion on the best way to do this? Ideally in the new schema, I'd like to create each new table as an empty table with the appropriate range and list partitions defined. I have been doing some testing in our development environment with the EXCHANGE PARTITION statement, but this requires the destination table to be non-partitioned.
    I just wondered if, for partition migration across schemas with the table name and tablespace remaining constant, there is an official "best practice" method of accomplishing such a subpartition move neatly, quickly and elegantly?
    Any helpful replies welcome.
    Cheers.
    James

    You CAN exchange a subpartition into another table using a "temporary" (staging) table as an intermediary.

    SQL>I have exchanged subpartition p_2_s_1 out of the table part_subpart into the table NEW_part_subpart -- even with a different name for the subpartition (n_p_2_s_1) if so desired.
    NOTE : Since your source and target tables are in different schemas, you will have to move (or copy) the staging table STG_part_subpart from the first schema to the second schema after the first "exchange subpartition" is done. You will have to do this for every subpartition to be exchanged.

  • I want to create a duplicate table (button click by user) but instanceManager doesn't seem to work

    I have a table that needs to be duplicated, in whole, not just adding a row, on the next page of a form.
    Scenario: The user enters data (employment history) on the first table but requires an additional page with table to complete all work history.
    1. I've created a simple table (Table1) wrapped in Subform_EmployHistory which is inside SubformMain_Page2. Theses are the object properties; which I haven't done anything to, yet.
    Subform_EmployHistory is Flowed
    Allow Page Breaks is unchecked
    (click on image to see larger version)
    2. I've added a "Subform Instance Controls: Add" button object outside the table and its subform
    3. Have tried to script the button to allow user to create a new page duplicating the table (not duplicating the data they entered on the first page) table but nothing seems to work.
    4. What you see in the next screen clip has not had any script changed or added. Just what shows up when the instance control button is first placed on the page.
    What should my script look like? Or, am I using the wrong approach altogether.

  • Duplicate tables created?

    Hello,
    I create the table
    rick.test
    and I get that table along with
    rick.BIN$MHRTP3Hregnirgnrgu
    Does anyone know why these tables are created?
    Thanks,
    rick_806

    Are you sure that you get that entry when you create a table? That looks like an entry in the recycle bin, which is created when you drop a table. This allows you to undrop a table if you make a mistake (i.e. drop a table in prod rather than in dev).
    You can get rid of these recycle bin entries by running the command "purge recyclebin" in SQL*Plus.
