Dust inside Zen To

hey guys.....have a zen touch 40 gig and have somehow got little dust particles inside the LCD screen. Now i know this isn't that big of a deal, but i'm a perfectionist so it bugs me. Is there anyway that i can get that out? Also, is there anyway i can further protect any more little particles from getting in there? Possibly buying a new case? Thanks in advance guys!

there are already some threads about this topic. maybe you should try the search function next time.
then you would read something like this:
to protect it from dust use a case.
to get rid of the dust you can open the player (loose warranty) and remove it
or use dry high pressure air to blow it out

My zen micro has dust inside it's screen. Lots of it. I don?t know how it got there. Does anybody know how the zen micro opens up? I don?t care if its voids the warranty. Costumer service isn?t going to remove dust. Although... I could break the headphone jack. J/K

You should keep in mind that if you open it and void the warrenty, then ANY future problem you have (i.e. headphone jack, harddri've problems, etc) will not be elegible for warrenty repair either. Is dust under the screen really worth that?

  • Dust inside Screen, any experiences (and my story)?

I have a late 06 17" MBP that has exhibited dust inside the screen for about 6 months now. I haven't had a good time to take it into the apple store until yesterday (since I knew it would have to be sent off and I'd be without for a week or so). I know its dust and not dead pixels because of the fact that when it first happened, if I closed the screen and walked around with it in my bag, the spots would have moved when I reopened, some would appear farther up the screen, some closer to the bottom, and maybe sometimes 1 or 2 of them would disappear. All in all when I took it in, I had about 20 or so spots that make looking for dust in my Canon 1Ds pics, a frustrating practice at best.
So anyway, I make an appointment and speak to a Genius, he sees the issue clearly, and of course says he'll have to send it off, but tells me that they may not cover this and call me with a quote to replace the screen, but he'll write it up as if its covered and see if they come back with something different.
What I don't get is how this could not be covered. I've owned several laptops, for years, 2 dells, an IBM, a 17" sony vaio, 2 gateways, a toshiba, etc, etc, etc, pretty much all laptops for the past 10 years in my house. NONE of these have ever done this, all obviously in the same environment. How could this not be a defect thats covered under my apple care agreement (expires 1 year from this December)? But I'm getting ahead of myself, as far as I know at this time, it will be covered, but I will keep this thread up to date.
Here is what the Genius wrote down for my order:
    A. Customer Issue(s): Small dark spots at the bottom middle of screen
    B. Steps to Reproduce: Verified at the bar
    C. Troubleshooting: N/A
    D. Time to failure: N/A
    E. Unsuccessful Fixes Attempted: N/A
    F. Cosmetic Condition at Genius Bar: Slight dent on back left corner and screen does not sit flush
    G. CS Code Number: N/A
    H. Configuration: MBPRO 17/2.33/2G/160/256VRAM/SD-DL (even though I have 3gb in it, but not from the store that way)
    I. Password: N/A
    J. UserName: N/A
    K. Known Liquid Damage(Y/N): None evident
    L. Other Notes: N/A
I know I've seen other posts about this dust inside screen issue, has anyone ever been denied a repair for this while under warranty?
And one more question, apparently these LCD units are not factory sealed? If this dust came from my environment, and did not originate from within the panel (thus not covered), is there anyway (if it comes back not fixed) that this could be cleaned out? I mean if it gets in there, there has to be a way to get it out right? I hope to write back soon with good news that its all covered, but just in case I might as well start looking at options, (geeze I'm such a pessimist)
I'd love to hear if anyone has any similar stories.
    Thanks!

That seems logical. If there is some small opening in the bottom to allow air to get inbetween the top and a lower layer inside the lcd panel, then it might not be possible to open it up to clean it out. I'm hoping that if its not fixed by apple, that there might be a way to do just that, regardless or risk of breaking the display. If I did break the display, I'd have to buy a new one, and if they don't fix it I'll have to buy a new one, so either way... I might just have to be the first to try such a thing, who knows, might be able to fix it myself...
And as far as being negative, no worries, I'm negative enough for all of us, or should I say scared my favorite laptop ever (and most expensive) won't be fixed...

  • Why am I seeing dust inside my iPhone 5S camera lens?

I don't have a case for my iPhone 5S and I do carry it in my jeans pocket. I am also not a messy person. So today I noticed something -- there's clearly some dust inside the camera lens (the one in the back.) When I shake the phone it rattles around. How in the world can it get there? And is there anything I can do to get it out?

Not unheard of, look to your right under "More Like This" for related discussions.-->
You have a 1 year warranty.  Take it in and let Apple look at it.  Back it up first.

  • Brand new Canon 5d mark ii has dust inside of the LCD screen.. !!!

Hello guys. I just received Canon 5d mark ii + 24-105mm lens kit in the mail couple of days ago. It's an amazing camera that will help to improve my work. I didn't want to use the camera until I received the screen protector and the UV filter to make sure that the camera is well protected.  (My previous SLR ended up having so many scratches on the LCD screen)
So today I received the screen protector. I was cleaning the Lcd screen to install the protector and I realized that there is a dust inside of the LCD screen. I didn't even use the camera more than to see if it functions right. It's totally visible.
I was wondering if anyone had this problem with their brand new camera ?!?!
I know there is an option to exchange the camera since it's in the return/exchange period but I really don't have time for this. I have photo shoots coming up and I really can't be without my camera more than couple of days. Unfortunately they don't have the kit in any of Bestbuy location in Los Angeles area that I can go in and exchange.  They will ask me to return the camera kit to a Bestbuy location and wait for them to credit my Bestbuy card (which will take 3-4 days - and i don't have enough credit limit to buy another one right away and be patient for them to give me my money back ) and replace an order online again.
    Any advice appreciated...
    Thanks

First of all. Thank you for your reply. I actually realized couple of other things that made me suspicios that this camera was used before. Of course i might be wrong however - the package shipped from Bestbuy Return center + loose diopter adjuster knob before than even touching it + having dust inside the lcd screen + hair and dust inside the lens - made me really uncomfortable keeping this camera.
Don't get me wrong, I love Best Buy. I've been shopping from Best Buy for years. I have been purchasing many things every year and I really do trust them.  That's the reason why i didn't mind to have Greek Squad 3 years extended waranty package with my purchase. However spending almost $3500 for a top of the line camera and not having it flawless from the first day made me a little disappointed. That's all..
I will be going to Best Buy later today and return the camera. I am just hoping that they can refund the money to my card in couple of days so i can place an order for a new one. Even better if i can return the camera and they can place an order from the store for me..
Thank you so much for your reply again...

If another person or company serviced your iPad, your warranty has been voided.  Apple will do an out-of-warranty exchange.  Have you contacted the original service provider, and complained?

  • Dust inside iphone 5 camera with no warranty

What am I supposed to do?
Never take any photo with my phone?!!
Or spend hundreds of dollars to fix the camera? (I probably could buy a new phone with that much money!!)
I found the dust after my warranty expired, and I was told apple won't help me to fix it.
I never had any problem with my iphone4, which is a great product by Jobs. The iphone5 is very disappointing. You have to use a case to protect it from scratches. Many people found dust inside their cameras, luckily some found that problem during their warranty. I couldn't believe apple would deliver a product with so many problems to us, at least Jobs wouldn't.

During that one year period, I will assume the dust accumulated while being in your pocket.
I had a iphone since the 3GS and now a 5S and had a few dust in my camera lenses, but nothing that would impede me from taking good quality pictures.

  • Dust inside back camera lens

Just noticed two specs of dust inside my wife's iPhone 4, she bought it in July 2010.
The cut the long story short, photo's from that phone always looked "soft" (like the lens was dirty) when compared to the photos from my iPhone 4.
Yesterday, however, I had to take some indoors pictures with my wife's phone as mine was out of available storage. Most of the photos and videos looked rubbish: huge halos around light sources, grain, weird colours, very soft (inferior even compared to a friend's 3GS). So I knew something was wrong, and then I noticed two specs of dust inside the camera lens, right in the middle. The phone is otherwise immaculate apart from a tiny screen scratch. I guess the dust was there from day 1, as photos never looked right.
Is this supposed to happen over time? Is the lens unit sealed? Is Apple likely to fix it under warranty (the phone is 8 months old)?
    Cheers,
    GB

The phone comes with a one-year warranty. Make an appointment at an Apple store. If your phone is deemed defective, it will be replaced on the spot.

  • Dust inside the screen of my Qosmio G20-136

    Hi,
I have a weird problem on my Qosmio G20-136, there are 2 spots of dust inside, and recently a very small insect manages to get between the LCD on the protective sheet. I can assure you I though I was mad watching the insect moving without being able to do anything.
Am I the only one with such issue ? How can I contact TOSHIBA, to understand what's wrong with the isolation of the laptop ? The laptop is only moving in the flat !
I try to get contact with Toshiba FR, but all the answers I have is a expensive phone number. For the price of such a PC, they could at least provide email or chat support !
Is someone from Toshiba is reading, I would appreciate to get a contact.
    email : toshiba AT tykhan.net

Yes, that would be the best, contact a local servicepartner and let them check your machine because its sensless to shout here while doing nothing.
Just check this link to find the nearest authorized service partner:

Hope they will fix your problem.

My Imac have Dust inside Lcd. How i fix it.
    my imac out of warranty.
    thx.

Find the correct model & look at the instructions at iFixit.com
    https://www.ifixit.com/Device/iMac
It can be done with a lot of care & the correct tools, but if you are unsure it is best to take it to an Apple store & ask them to do it or you (or an Apple certified service centre). It can be difficult to put it back with less dust than before

  • Dust inside my Nokia lumia 820 camera

Dusts accumulate inside my camera (both back and front). What can I do to remove them and to prevent it from happening again? My camera has become useless now.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Get it checked by one of Microsoft's Care points, they can professionally dismantle it, clean out the dust and reassemble it - hopefully better sealed than it is now. To do anything else might risk making the situation worse.
