DVD Title Change

I build a disk image and name it what I would like the final DVD to display, then when I burn the actual DVD using The Apple Disk Utility the title of the DVD reverts to MyGreatDVD, the default title of iDVD. How do I prevent this from happening?

beats me .... I just created a disk image for another purpose and surely it's named "test".
Try to delete iDVD preferences (com.apple.iDVD.plist) and repair permissions. Delete all old iDVD projects and create a new one with the appropriate name. Then in iDVD choose Project > Show Project Info from the menu. In the pop-up window there should be the correct name - if not correct it there. Create a disk image.

In the Outline Tab, select the Disk.
In the Inspector, type in the Name field.

Burning multiple copies of a DVD slideshow project for a small nonprofit.
The subsequent DVDs are reading "My Great DVD" instead of the project name.
Does anyone know why, or mor importantly, how I can fix this?

Did you check the Help Menu for iDVD6?
Naming a DVD disc
By default, the name of the final DVD matches the name of your iDVD project. You can change the disc name so the final burned disc has a different name.
To name a DVD disc:
Choose Project > Project Info. Type the new name in the Disc Name box.
DVD titles cannot have spaces. If there is a space in your DVD title, it is replaced with an underscore (_). The only characters that can be used are the numbers from 0 to 9, the uppercase and lowercase characters A to Z, and the underscore (_).
Note: If you want to change the name of the project too, choose File > Save As and type a new name for the project. Now you have the same project with two different names. You can delete the first one if you don't want to keep it.
"My Great DVD" is the default title system w/in iDVD6 application. If you delete a title or simply forget to name the project, iDVD will generate this title to keep track of all iDVD projects. You can't get rid of this feature in iDVD to the best of my knowledge other than renaming the project.

Replicated DVD Title Playback Issues (~ 1 out of 20 disks)

Replicated Disc Playback Issues
I recently authored 4x DVD titles using DVD SP 4 in conjunction w/ Compressor 3.0.5. Media was compressed using Compressor “DVD: Best Quality 120 minutes” setting, imported and then built/formatted in DVD SP. The project masters were formatted to Verbatim 4.7 GB DVD-R out of DVD SP without any issue in the log window. I then watched all titles from start to finish on a home set-top player without any playback issues.
The DVD-R disk masters were then shipped to a glass master company, w/o error and verified with an Eclipse system…then back to the Replication house where 1000 copies for each title where made. I watched all Replicated titles upon return, on the 2 different set top DVD players and w/o error.
We have however, been receiving error call-backs on ~ 1 out of 20 DVDs, where people have been reporting video freezes, jittery video in places, etc. I’m new to the authoring world, but believe I was in full technical compliance within DVD SP when building the projects (used APTS tutorial as guide).
Again, the glass mastering company said there were no Eclipse report errors, and the Replication house said the DVDs passed their QT tests as well (Detarius Machine?).
I really need to pinpoint what is causing such a high failure rate in the replicated disks. Is this on my end or the replication process? Did I miss some tech specs in SP that may not pose an issue on some players, but do on others? Shouldn't the QC systems used in the mastering / replication process detect issues with the disks? Any suggestions / guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Just a 'Toast-it note' guys,
Toast cannot choose your break point except by slim chance, nor properly flag the cell it chooses as the layer break.
A Disc Image does not contain layer break information. There's just information in the Image's UDF/ISO data declaring the full 'extent' of the sectors of data in the Image. Even If you set the layer break point in DVD SP's Format Window when you formatted the Disc Image to hard drive, it will have no effect - Toast, nor any other third party formatting software will have a clue as to your intentions on which cell you'd like designated as the layer break (only the control data in a DDP file set and the control data on a replicated DVD contains layer break info from the DVD project - Control data is not allowed to be written to a DVD Recordable, that area is glossed-over during manufacturing).
Toast only scans the cell address table for the appropriate VOB and chooses a cell closest to the middle of the valid layer break range to split the data stream in two (and uses other algorithms under certain circumstances). But it doesn't flag the cell it chooses as non seamless, or set other layer break cell parameters properly.
Submitting DL Images written by Toast, you will get nailed most of the time by the replicator's Eclipse software for a seamless cell at the layer break - if you're lucky; as more than a few replicators will let that 'warning' message sail right by, and they'll replicate anyway; or they're running a version of Eclipse prior to 4.0, which many are, that doesn't even check for the layer break cell's existence. You could be even luckier, and have a cell command (Marker end jump setting) for the cell prior to the layer break cell Toast chose for the Layer break - that will cause DVD SP to set the following cell as non-seamless. Skinny chance.
If you're unlucky, Toast will choose a proper non seamless LB location in the DVD SP generated files that should never be the layer break location for an abstraction-layer based authoring system generated Image.
Hint: if third party disc formatting software doesn't present you a somewhat cool screen at double-layer writing time, showing you all the available LB cells to choose choose from, complete with the ability to click and preview all of the possible layer break cell canditate's start video, so you can be sure - and properly flag your chosen layer break cell; then it shouldn't be used to write playable DVD+R DL discs. Now, Toast is great for writing DVD+R DL pure data discs, as the requirements for switching layers during the read of ROM data is much less stringent (best to break between files, though).
While there might not seem to be a clear-cut right way to pre-mastering for DVD-Video, for sure, none of the few best/professional workflows allow Toast in the process.

How to make page name and title change with AJAX driven site?

I am building a travel site. I am a fairly basic but longtime
DW user. I built the site in DW. I made a template and all pages
are then based off the template. I hired a programmer to do the
complicated hotel searching code. He says that he used AJAX and I
know also php (all the pages are whatever.php)
What I don't like and he says can not be changed, which there
must be a workaround for, is that, for example, a user will be on
the spahotels.php page. Or perhaps they are on the whatshot.php
page reading the latest article about jungle treehouse eco lodges.
So far so good, the name of the page is "spahotels.php" or
"whatshot.php".
But, on each (and all) of the site pages we also have a hotel
search on the top left nav. So from any page, the user can do a
hotel search. The problem I have is that...once they do this....the
results they are given in the main window of the page, are totally
unrelated to spahotels or whatshot about jungle lodges...so if they
have now searched for tokyo business hotels, it looks ridiculous
and confusing that the page name says "spahotels.php" and the page
title says Find Great Spa Hotels.
My programmer says AJAX was the best way to do the hotel
search functionality (which I dont know anything about so if he
says so maybe so but I don't know) but he also says there is no way
to make the page name or title change to reflect what the user has
done on the left search function. Makes sense..they are clearly
unrelated.
However...this is a terrible user experience in my opinion.
So...one idea he had was to find a javascript code that changes the
page title/name.
Does anyone have some ideas of how to solve this issue?

Try doing a seach for something on the left nav hotel
search...and see what I mean...the name of the page stays
spahotels.php and the title stays Spa Hotels. I get it...I
think...why it does...but it looks stupid if you are looking for
something else in your search (which of course the user will be).

their is no out of box way to avoid this but you can change this in the Designer.

Error 70001 when changing DVD region (changes still allowed)

I still have allowable DVD region changes left on DVD player, but when I try to apply a region change, error message 70001 appears.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem? I've looked on various online forums and tried using VLC - but this doesn't work - and used MacTheRipper to no avail either.

Are you sure the DVD is region 1 ONLY? You can't always trust the label. I have a three DVD boxed set that says region 1. One of the DVDs is multiple region.

Batch title change in photo version 1

The new "Photo" has changed the user interface completely. Is there a way to to the "batch title change" for a group of photos? There are instructions for how to do for one, but I'm hoping that this has not been lost. I'm using version 1.
Is there any way to remove the conformation that is now required each and every time you want to delete a photo or group of photos?

Batch changing is not yet supported in Photos for Mac.
You could try to do it using AppleScript and Automator.

DVD Disc Changer

I have a bunch of DVDs (backup files from previous jobs) which I find myself accessing reasonably regularly for the odd file here and there. Does anyone know of a DVD player that I can plug into my Mac or network switch that could store loads of DVDs and provide me with a means of accessing them without constantly switching discs manually? I know a saw a CD version of this on Amazon a few years ago but everything I have know is on DVD.

But, it's from 2001 and OS9-compatible only.
And at USD 1800 not a bargain.
And it seems to be abandoned some time ago.
Just so you know, that it seems impossible to find one nowadays and also not at reasonable prices.

Is a window title changer app possible?

I haven't been able to find an app for Mac that lets you change window titles for any currently-open windows (the same way http://www.murgee.com/window-title-changer/ does on Windows). I know Terminal has this functionality built in, but I'd like to do this for my IDE and other windows as well to make it easier to commad-tab to the right window.
Does anyone know of an existing app that does this?
If not, is such an app even possible or does the OS disallow it?

hi, there is no such app because OS X prevents this sort of stuff to block viruses. you won't find this on Macs.

AppleScript for Batch Title Changes Needed

I need to change the title of 75 items in a folder on my G5 by one character. Help says there's a Script Menu in the Finder bar, but I suspect the Help is for Tiger & I have Panther, and there is no such option. I only have Script Editor.
Would anyone be willing to provide an AppleScript for batch title changes so I can make the needed change? I'm not a programmer. Secondly, how do I activate the script?

Can you recommend a resource that would tell me how to fill in the blanks? Apple refers to Getting Started With AppleScript, but I don't see it as an available PDF file. AppleScript Language Guide is available, but all I really want is something simple, very basic.

Final cut pro x - Title changes are not saved!

I have a big project I am working on in Final cut pro x that contains about 300 subtitles (created with the basic title tool), and now when I make text changes to these titles, quit the program and open the project again those changes are gone....!!! This is a serious problem for me, any help concerning this would be greatly appriciated.

You might not have a compatible video card. It needs to be "OpenCL" compatible. What mac are you using, and what video card? This info is available using the "About this Mac" menu item; click "More Info" to get to the video info.

Import Photos from DVD - Reference to Original DVD Title?

i installed the trial version of Lightroom 2.0 and tested it out putting a DVD in.. it imported all the thumbnails fine... but when you take out the DVD after its done cataloging all the icons, the program doesn't tell you the name of the DVD that the photo folders belong to... it just gives a message referring to the fact that the "image is not available" when you click on an icon... which makes sense of course because the DVD isn't there, but... there's no indication like "please insert DVD labeled "PhotoDVD090" or whatever ...
I looked through the preferences to see if there was a way of turning on a feature that would be able to prompt me to put in the correct DVD when a particular thumbnail was clicked... this, I believe would be an invaluable and time saving tool for those of us with tons of off-line media.

I know what you're trying to say but I have searched for a program that will import photos from a DVD, remember it by serial number (of the physical media), allow you to type in a DVD name or use the one originally provided when you burned the DVD, then store all thumbnails on the computer, remove the DVD, still have the thumbnails on the computer permanently and when you click a thumbnail, if the appropriate DVD is not in the drive it will prompt you for the title of the DVD..
simple simple simple... The fact that Lightroom doesn't have such a feature has prompted me to remove it completely from my system..
the fact that ACDsee Photo Manager 10 DOES have this feature, and costs a mere $29.99 has prompted me to get it instead.. it works like a dream... you can browse all your images, search by any criteria imaginable.. and then when you find the image you wish to work on.. a double click will pop of a box saying please insert such and such a dvd... you put in the DVD then click edit and up it pops in photoshop (or whatever other editing software you specify).. magic... Lightroom really needs to address this lacking option.

Change to OTR Text in Title changes UI look and feel

We were asked to change the title of
Package: LSO_FRONTEND
Alias: LSO_FRONTEND/ACTIVITIES
When I tried to change it in the OTR it allowed the change but removed the tray around the title in the portal screen.
We do not have the most current version of R3trans Transport Program. The version we use is Release 700 May 3, 2009.
What is the process to correct the loss of the UI elements?
Points will be awarded for instructions to correct the problem.

DVD region change?

Hi, I have a brand new powerbook g4, 1.67ghz, superdrive. I just recently put a DVD in it for the first time, and it asked "what region do you want to set the drive to?" It gave me the option of 1 and 4, I think. Anways, I chose 1, because I had no idea what this meant.
Now, heres what happens: When I try to play store-bought DVD's, they wont play! The weird thing is, when I played a pirated DVD from South America, it worked fine!
How do I change the drive region, and when region do I need to change it to so that it will play all my DVDs???? Before the powerbook I had an ibook, and it would play all the DVDs I had with no problem...

To have your store bought DVDs play you need to look at the back of the cover. On it your will find the region code of the DVD. It sort of looks like a number inside a world map.
As mentioned you really need to be careful with regoin codes as you can only make this change 5 times. Once you have reached that limit you are stuck with the last region you chose.
It is recommended that you either buy DVDs from one region otherwise you can buy an external DVD drive which has a firmware update avaiable for it so you can change the region of the drive as much as you like. Before you ask, there currently is no firmware update for your internal optical drive. Even if there was it would void your warranty.
