DVI Display Problem - Any quantitative technical data?

There has been a huge discussion on the Mini DVI "problem" here and in many other places on the net, but nowhere have I ever seen confirmed quantitative measurements with a clear explanation what the problem is and why some LCD monitors work and others don't. heck - we even have the same Mini/monitor combination working for one person and not the next.
For the VGA issue there were lab test posted by some German website which clearly identified the shortcomings of the Mac Mini VGA output, but I have not seen anything similar for the DVI problem.
Has anyone actually taken any measurements or seen anything on a website that clearly defines the problem? Inquiring minds want to know...............

This is in regard to the static type problem connecting via DVI from Mac Mini to certain LCD displays, like my HP L2335 23".
I don't have any measurements for you and don't know DVI enough to provide them, but I have been asking around about this of some folks who DO know DVI. Here are a couple responses:
"The technical term for what you are seeing is "sparklies"
They are caused by the receiver in the monitor making mistakes in decoding the pixel data being sent by the Mini.
Data is sent across the DVI cable using TMDS signaling. The DVI spec allows for two different clock encoding/decoding mechanisms, coherent and non-coherent. Unfortunately, the spec does not give a way for the transmitter to figure out which method the receiver is using. And only some transmitters can switch from one mode to another. For machines which can switch transmit modes we sometimes hard code into our drivers which type of receivers certain monitors use. One of the bad effects of having mismatched transmitters and receivers is increased jitter, which leads directly to reduced usable bandwidth. (you ought to know that everything is really analog) "
One suggested solution is to use a repeater of some sort, such as converting to ADC and back again to DVI. Apple's converter supposedly has a non-coherent transmitter.

   I am sorry .I do the testing . The setting about the "Extension Info"is useful for Applet. But the "Automatic Extensions" information is in the "Auction parameters". Do you have any other suggestions?

HH3 interface display problem, any ideas?

My interface looks like this, it's really annoying. Only happens when I go on advanced settings in Firefox. In Chrome it looks fine, and other menus in firefox look fine. What's happening and is there a quick fix?

User data causing display problems?

I had a user on an iBook whose display was completely washed out. The image was so white and there was so little detail that it was mostly unreadable.
So, I did a fresh load of 10.4 onto an older Powerbook G4 that had no issues, and I used the Setup Assistant to transfer over his all of his User Data, settings, and applications.
As soon as the Powerbook rebooted, it had inherited the display problem!
A fresh install on the iBook shows that the display is now fine. Somehow, this problem is travelling with the user's data, settings, and applications.
I've played with the display and color settings, but they have no effect on the problem.
The only unusual application that he was running was some "Ding!" app from Southwest Airlines.
Any idea where to look to hunt down this problem?

Check the contrast setting in the Universal Access pane of System Preferences; this setting can cause what you describe.

we are on BI7.0.
I have master data for customer. One customer has as a key 0101010101.
When I want to maintain this record it is only possible when the check-box "Display technical data records" is activated.
Questions
Why?
What is this for a checkbox? The online-help does not bring light on that topic. Any idea?

PHP MySQL data display problem

I am having trouble getting data to display on my web page.In Dreamweaver CS3, I created a new page.
Selected PHP as the type.
Saved it.
Connected a database and created a recordset (all using Dreamweavers menus. I did not write any code).
NOTE: The database is on a remote server.
The TEST button displayed the records from the recordset with no problem.
On the new page, I then typed some text.
Then dragged some fields from the Bindings tab to the page.
I saved it and then went to preview it in my browser.
The page comes up completely blank. Not even the text shows.
I then saved the page as an HTML page.
When I preview this in my browser, the text shows, but the fields and data do not.
I then tried creating a dynamic table (again, using the Dreamweaver menus.).
A similar thing happens, ie. If I save it as an HTML, the text shows and the column labels and border shows, but no data.
Nothing shows if I save it as a PHP file.
I can view the data online using files created by PHPMagic, so I know the data is there and retrievable.
It is just in pages created in Dreamweaver that don’t work.
What am I doing wrong?

My web server supports PHP. I can disply PHP pages created by other software packages, just not the Dreamweaver ones.

I know that displaying any kind of data depends on local NLS_LANG but what NLS_LANG I have to set so that it can display different language together. I am able to display data separately for German, Danish and Russian Cyrillic when I change NLS_LANG and location in client accordingly but unable to display all language together.
Default setting for NLS_LANG on client machine is AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252.
Please advise common NLS_LANG for all three language (German, Danish, Russian Cyrillic).

I've an iMac with OS X 10.4.11. Sudden email problem: every received email has, after the header, 1 - 2 pages of technical data (e.g., Dkim-Signature, Domainkey-Signature, etc.) I don't know why this now happening, and I don't know how to get rid of it.

I have an iMac using OS X 10.4.11. Beginning several days ago, all incoming emails have, after the usual email header and before the message appears, one to two pages of technical data (e.g., Dkim-Signature, Domainkey-Signature, Content-Transfer-Encoding, etc.). This is similar and more complex that the info one receives when an undeliverable email bounces back. I don't know where this stuff comes from, or how it came, and I don't know how to get rid of it. Any ideas? I'm something of a newbie to computers (um, what's a Tag?).

That just sounds like the mail headers. Most people don't know (or care) about them so they're usually hidden.
Check Mail -> Preferences -> Viewing -> Show header detail
I'm guessing it's set to 'All'. Switch it to 'Default' or None as you prefer.

Theses problems don't exist on iTunes.
Who can fix it ?

I checked three of them and see the same peculiarity. Only the web page version of the Store page has the errors. The first podcast you list has a minor error in the 'iTunes declaration' but I wouldn't have expected it to affect the pubDate tag. The second doesn't give the day in that tag, and the third appears to be OK.
I can only guess that it's a glitch of some sort in the Store software used to generate the web page. Only Apple can fix it. You could try the 'report a problem' link in the Store page in iTunes though I don't know how much notice they will take.

Forms 6i Data Display Problem

I am running Forms 6i on win 2k server. The problem I have is that when trying to display a field that has data longer than the size of the field the data becomes left justified. Meaning by placing the cursor on the field and using back arrow the rest of the data gets displayed.

If it is server and DataBase is installed(oracle-sql) is there, You cna't continue Froms and Reports there, Froms and Report can only run on client end and with pc where inatall Oracle Personal Database.

N8 Date Display Problem

I've previously posted this in a similar thread, but recieved no replies, so am trying here.
I've have a problem after the getting the Anna update.
Got mine done at an NCC (UK Tesco 059C951). and all was fine. Put in parts 1/2 & 2/2 when I got home via Ovi Suite on PC.
I have the problem in that the date format in my phone keeps reverting to YYYY:MM:dd format instead of DD:MM:YYYY as i'd like it.
I've done a delete and restore and default reset to see if it cures it, but to no avail. I can't reinstall yet as Anna is not available for my Product code yet.
In the" time settings", when I select the format I want, it switches back right in front of my eye's in about a second flat. I have to hit the back button before it changes back as that is the only way it remains.
Once I turn off the phone, it reverts back to the yyyy:mm:dd settings again and I have to repeat the whole process again.
It used to do this with PR1.1 and 1.2 sometimes, but a "delete and restore" usually cleared it. Hasn't worked this time though.
Does anyone else have this problem or know what to do?

Display problem in Analyzer

Dear All,
I've met 2 display problems in Analyzer:
1) some key figures are displayed like "~ 90kg ".Why will the "" be displayed?
2) some others just have a "*" presentation. These are not totals which sum quantites with different units of measure.
Looking farward to any ideas.

--> Strange, try to drill down lowest level and check & validate data(correct or not)
2) some others just have a "*" presentation. These are not totals which sum quantites with different units of measure.
--> Due to different Units of Measure. Try to drill down to lowest level, you can see proper values.
Or convert all different Units of Measures into one Unit at Transformation/Update Rules or Query level.

Older intel mac display problems (x1600)

My mom has an intel imac (the version before the black/aluminum kind) and it had very minor display issues with Tiger (very infrequent horizontal lines). They were all resolved with further point releases of Tiger.
After upgrading to Leopard she has had numerous problems, all revolving around frequent and numerous horizontal lines. They sometimes get so bad that the current window is almost completely obscured.
Here is a flickr set of images that show the problem and the display specs. I know that was happening to users with newer imacs and x1900s, is this happening to other x1600 users?
Any ideas on what is going on? I told her to call apple, but her warranty has run out and she feels uncomfortable calling because she is not a technical person (exactly why I told her to get a mac—I have egg on my face now). Should she downgrade? Can this be a hardware problem?

Hi everyone, i have bought an iMac 20 with a core 2 duo 1 GB ram and an ATI x1600 (a white one, because the screen quality is better than the new iMac 20 alu)
and i've some display problems. First i was on Tiger and i didn't noticed any problems but as leopard came out i rapidly upgraded to it and then came problems with the display.
To make short, the lower part of my screen is lagging anormaly. When i drag a window or even the dock's animations are slower. And it doesn't occur on the upper part of my screen, windows can be dragged smoothly, there is no lag even if the CPU is working at 100% (like on every normal mac...).
I've noticed there is a little bump when i'm dragging a windows from the top to the bottom of the screen, it's like the window enter another area.
I've of course checked a lot of boards on the www, so i've tried a lot of things, my card ATI X1600 128mo PCIe is fully working with core image and quartz extreme.
Some people said to wait that spotlight finished to index, but it's done and the problems are still there.
Time machine is off
I don't use coverflow and i've tried it, it doesn't change anything.
I've also re-installed Tiger and, wo-ow the problem is still there, especially when all is up to date.
It seems that, the problem come from the last firmware update, i don't know if this firmware update was done for improving compatibility with bootcamp or leopard but for me it has added this strange display behavior.
I've also tried to turn off quartz extreme, and it's even worst, worst on the lower part again but no changes on the upper, everything run smoothly.
As i didn't noticed it when i used my mac for the first days (on Tiger and without the firmware update) and on windows with bootcamp there is still no display problems at all, i keep thinking it's not an hardware problem but a software (firmware, display on Mac osX) problem.
It should be solved by a new firmware or Mac os upgrade until then i have to do with it.
By the way, does anyone knows if there's a way for downgrading the gpu firmware ? (when i try, it say that i didn't need it), it's the only thing that i havent tried.
