DW CS DevToolbax Spry Validate and Firefox

Hi there,
i am using dreamweaver cs. for a form validation. The by
dreamweaver generated code looks like this:
var sprytextfield3 = new
Spry.Widget.ValidationTextField("sprytextfield3", "email",
{validateOn:["blur", "change"], minChars:5, maxChars:320});
In IE7.x the onchange validation of the textfiels is working
well.
In Firefox the nothing happens. There i am getting the first
error message (too short). But this messages will change first
after "blur". Normaly (like IE) it has to switch to "invalid
format" and then too nothing (because of the correct format) .
Somebody knows a solution? Or is this a bug within the
Spry.Widget.ValidationTextField ?
Thank you very much for your help
Sebastian

    Hello,
    In the sprymenubarvertical.css file, try changing position:
    static; to
    position: relative;
    in the ul.MenuBarVertical li style.
    Also, you should get rid of the link to test.css as it's an
    html page in a
    css file.
    Take care,

  • Spry Accordion and Firefox (dotted border)

    How to get rid of this border?
    It shows up after clicking in the accordion (wheater title or
    content) and outlines the whole accordion.
    This problem is only in Firefox and makes the whole accordion
    unpleasent to look at. I would like to know if there's a workaround
    for this problem. I already tried some css editing, once even
    tested removing all borders on all according elements -
    nothing.

    That's cause of tabindex="0" if you don't want them then
    change this:
    <div id="Accordion1" class="Accordion" tabindex="0">
    to this:

  • SPRY accordion and tabs not displaying in IE6

    Hi everyone:
    Even after clearing up some validation errors in my HTML, I
    am experiencing issues with a SPRY accordion and another page with
    a Tabbed SPRY widget not appearing in IE6. The pages all work fine
    in IE7, Firefox and Safari. I would greatly appreciate anyone
    taking a look (link below) and letting me know if you see any
    errors or know of a bug I have not found the fix for. My CSS
    validates 100% so I don't think I have made any style sheet errors.
    Thanks very much.

    Hi all:
    After some more tinkering, I have discovered the real issue
    is that my containing element is not containing the entire page and
    therefore cutting off my SPRY elements on the pages which have
    them. This is causing the SPRY widgets to fall apart and, of
    course, for the page to only scroll partially down.
    Does anyone have a suggestion as to why the SPRY tabbed
    element and accordion element on my pages is not nesting within
    document flow and remaining with the containing div? I appreciate
    your help.

  • Help with Spry form and Validation

    We have a form with shipping and billing information. When
    you fill out the billing and select same as billing radio button.
    Then it fills out the shipping fields properly using focus to make
    sure the spry validation recognizes the input. Everything on the
    form appears to be valid in Firefox Windows and Mac and Safari but
    the submit button does not work. Before we started we go the
    shipping fields to populate with the billing data the form
    submitted fine.
    On IE 7 the 1st Zip code fields shows the error messages and
    then only some of the hints show up in the spry validate fields
    below. This is only on IE. When you populate the shipping section
    in IE with the radio button in fills in everything but that
    shipping zip again on IE only. You actually have to manually type
    in the zip.
    Is this IE bug related to the form not submitting in the
    other browsers?
    I don't understand why the form in all the other browsers
    appears to have all fields validate but will not submit.
    I bet between three of us we have 60 hours in the stupid form
    and 2/3rds of it is not billable.
    On the other hand we need to finish this today!!. We will all
    be around at about 3 on Sunday. I am happy to pay someone to look
    at this and help us get through this last step.
    I wish there was some debug tool we could use to see what is
    going on. I look at the debug.js file in 6 in the meantime. I can
    be reached at 610-256-2843 and best email is [email protected]
    Help!!
    You can see all the by going to
    http://vv.dss-demo.com/
    then add something to your cart and go to checkout. you will
    get the form.

    Florin,
    Thanks for the response. We were looking for a way to remove
    the hints but did not see anything in the documentation.
    But I am still having issues.
    A. Not sure how you are not seeing the text &quot;Zip is
    required.Invalid format.&quot; in the grey area next to zip
    code fields. It is there on IE 6 and 7 4 different users with
    different computers see it.
    B. As soon as I add you code you suggested and comment out
    what we had it throws and error in IE and the debug says it is at
    the 1st instance of your method sprytextfield20.removeHint();
    Object does not support method.
    C. A new problem we did not notice last night on all browsers
    is that the form now does not respect the spry validations. It
    submits no matter what. I am using this to submit the form.
    &lt;input name=&quot;submit&quot;
    id=&quot;submit&quot; type=&quot;image&quot;
    src=&quot;images/complete_checkout.png&quot;
    onclick=&quot;document.forms['checkout_signup'].action='&lt;@appfilepath&gt;checkout_sign up.taf?_function=signup';document.forms['checkout_signup'].submit();&quot;
    /&gt;. We for sure don't want. It seems to have occured once we
    added the document.forms['checkout_signup'].submit(); in the 1st
    place but that without that the form would not submit even when
    everything appeared to be validated. So was adding
    document.forms['checkout_signup'].submit(); =seems to have just
    covered up another issue that is keeping the form from submitting.
    I still would like to have someone really look at this form
    with me and pay them if I have to. But it really does not seem that
    the path we are talking really works.
    I am going to roll this back to where it was till I can get
    some help.
    my guess at this point
    Hints have to go because if we fill down with fields that
    have hints then the hints become the values and are submitted. And
    it also breaks the spry validation.
    I would hope that the way we are rebuilding the zip and state
    fields would be possible with spry. It sure looks like it works. My
    hope is it is not causing the submit to not work.
    Anyway I still need help from someone who would be willing to
    take the time ort has the time to look over the page and al lthe
    logic we are using and see if there is a better way to do this
    even. This form is ending up costing me more time in non billed
    hours then the job itself. Yipes!!!
    As far as the HTML tags I will look at that again there are a
    bunch of includes build some of this page but I do see the
    beginning &lt;html&gt; seems to have been lost and I put it
    back in.
    D. I realize there is a fault with this method in the 1st
    place since it replaces the hints with values even if the value is
    the hint. Any suggestion on how to deal with that? are these hints
    more trouble then they are worth when used as field names. Should
    we just redisgn and use the field names in the 1st place?

  • Problem with Spry:Repeat and Slide Effect on IE6

    I run the website for my kids' hockey association and I'm not
    a web programmer. I am trying to display events in a Spry region
    using spry:repeat. The data is coming from a Google Calendar . I
    display the event date and title on the main page. I have the
    onclick set to call a javascript function that exposes the details
    using the spry slide effect. It works ok except in IE6.
    The following creates my dataset from a method call to a
    Coldfusion component that returns the XML I need:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var ds1 = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("
    http://tornadoyouthhockey.org/Events.cfc?method=EventXML",
    "events/event",{distinctOnLoad:false});
    </script>
    The following function slides open the detail:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function startBlind(rid) {
    var contentdiv = document.getElementById('panel'+ rid
    +'Content');
    var panel_height = contentdiv.clientHeight;
    if (panel_height<100){
    var bd = new Spry.Effect.Blind('panel'+ rid +'Content',
    {duration: 800, to: '100px', toggle: true});
    else {
    var bd = new Spry.Effect.Blind('panel'+ rid +'Content',
    {duration: 800, to: '0px', toggle: true});
    bd.start();
    </script>
    Within the repeat I have:
    <div class="EventPanelLabel"
    onclick="startBlind({ds_RowID});">{startDate} &mdash;
    {title}</div>
    I think the XML looks OK but for some reason when the page
    loads, IE6 returns:
    Exception caught while loading
    http://tornadoyouthhockey.org/Events.cfc?method=EventXML:
    [object Error]
    The page seems to work fine in Safari and Firefox on the Mac
    and IE7 as well as Firefox on Windows. Just IE6 seems to be having
    the problem. Could you please take a look at
    http://tornadoyouthhockey.org
    and provide any suggestions you may have?
    Also, is there a way to hide the {startDate} - {title} I'm
    seeing while the page loads?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Kin:
    Thanks for your reply. I made the changes you suggested but,
    unfortunately, IE6 is still giving me the same error when the page
    loads:
    Exception caught while loading
    http://tornadoyouthhockey.org/Events.cfc?method=EventXML:
    [object Error]
    Could this be part of the problem an need to be changed as
    well? :
    <div id="panel{ds_RowID}Content"
    Any other ideas? The page is live if you'd care to look...

  • Z-index problem in IE and Firefox

    Hello
    I have created a site with templates and absolute position divs that are nested inside a wrapper div.
    For a menu I am using the spry horizontal widget.
    The menu is a non editable item in the template. There are some editable regions besides that.
    In Safari the site appears correctly, but in IE and in Firefox in the PC the drop down menu items display under my div below the menu.
    Please see:
    http://www.performancesportscenters.com/Site_V5/V5_pages/V5_location_bellevue1.html
    and look at the source.
    I have assigend the highest Z index to the menu, but the two browsers ignore that.
    I have read that if you assign a heigher Z index to the parent div that it helps. But not in my case. Does the fact that I am using templates have anything to do with it?
    Thank you on beforehand.
    G Gaarde

    Hi SnakEyez02
    Thank you for your reply.
    After I posted my question yesterday I ran across an article on Adobes site explaining about wmode.
    I realized that my lower div on the pages that displayed wrong all had flash content, and the article says that flash content always display in the top layer regardless of z-index given.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14201.html
    But if you assign a wmode in parameters of either transparent or opaque you can layer the flash with dhtml. I did this after my post and now the menu displays right in both IE and Firefox!
    So you were looking at the already altered code.
    I will still clean up the things you mentioned. But thank you very much for your quick reply.
    Sincerely,
    G Gaarde

  • After recent update to OS-X operation system, Firefox is crashing within some, but not all websites. Is there something that is incompatible with Apple's recent update and Firefox??

    Not much more to add other than it is quite frustrating. It's forcing me to move my bookmarks over to Safari. Essentially, when I am on a website, and I try to access secondary information, Firefox crashes.

    ...to add insult to injury, it crashed when I tried to validate my Firefox account. I had to go to Safari to do this!!!

  • Spry Tables and Xml Data Sets viewed in IE7

    Has anyone ever run into a problem with Spry Tables and Xml
    Data Sets viewed in IE7? Work fine in IE6 and Firefox, but get the
    error "exception caught while loading feed.xml: [object Error]" in
    IE 7. Any ideas?
    Attached is the xml I'm using.
    Thanks

    I came looking for the answer to this question. I could not
    find an answer. Eventually I found it the answer that worked for
    me, a graphic designer with not much experience in xml.
    The following url provided an errata file in PDF format:
    www.peachpit.com/dwcs3cib
    which includes the following addendum to the incomplete
    instructions in the book i was using to learn about spry:
    "If Internet Explorer 7 is your primary browser, you'll nee
    to take some extra steps to view spry dynamic content locally.
    First, your site must be within the local server webroot; be sure
    your Lessons folder is stored within the Inetpub>wwwroot folder.
    Next, double-click the site name in the files panel to open the
    Site Definition dialogue. Click the Testing Server category; from
    the Access List choose Local/Network. Click Okay to close the Site
    Definition dialogue. Now, when you preview your page with Internet
    Explorer, your local Web server (localhost) serves the page as
    designed."
    Horray for me! Now i can move on from here and actually get
    some work done!

  • Spry.Data.HTML Firefox .vs. IE

    Hi,
    I have a relatively simple page with two HTML table data
    sources.
    ds1 = Flashcontent.html and ds2 = PDFcontent.html and their
    respective tables, FlashDemoContent and PDFDemoContent.
    I'm using a Spry Tab widget that contains two tabs, and Spry
    repeats in each tab to show the content from
    the tables above.
    It all works just great on IE. HOWEVER, on Firefox (2.x and
    3.x), I get the error:
    Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet: 'PDFDemoContent' is not a valid
    element ID.
    Data shows up on the first tab (FlashContent) but not on the
    2nd tab.
    Any thoughts? I'd be happy to share the code if need be.
    thanks for any pointers.
    mike

    Hi,
    Thanks for replying. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I
    don't have a URL handy that I can publish to. (Behind the corp
    firewall with no access to my home server)
    However, I think I might have figured it out. When
    referencing the column names (ie: {FullName}, {Directory}), if you
    are using the same name more than once, you should reference as
    follows:
    {ds1::FullName}
    {ds2::FullName}
    etc...
    Once I clarified that, it worked well in both IE7 and Firefox
    (3.0).
    I dare say, this has been enjoyable! Thanks again for
    replying. I'd appreciate if someone could verify my findings.

  • Spry Menu and Web Design Problem

    Hello Folks,
        I've been working feverishly on a layout for my father's new company but my progress has recently hit a snag. For the past hour and a half I've been trying to solve two problems:
    1. In Internet Explorer (IE 6), Opera, and Firefox (3.x) - there are a white lines appearing in the spry navigation menu (usually towards the right) after the last tab called "Company Info." The following URL is an example of my problem:
    http://www.personal.psu.edu/sbk142/real_test1.html
    2. Only in Firefox (believe it or not) - there is a space occuring between my spry navigation bar and the company logo (refer to the URL above). I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the spry menu properties that I assigned but I'm not sure where to begin.
    Thanks in advance for your help and happy holidays.

  • Help with Spry Menubar and slideshow widget in IE

    I have a spry slideshow and menubar created in dreamweaver CS4.  Both work in Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc. but not IE.
    Here's the link:
    http://www.salmonrunvacations.com/test/
    Check in firefox first, then IE.
    For the menu, what I've done is created a CSS div to insert the menubar into.  This way I can use a background image to frame the menubar. I then tweaked the CSS to shift the menu into the correct position so it lines up with the background image.  This information is not transferring for some reason, as the menubar sits at the top left of that div, ignoring placement info.
    Different versions of IE create different errors as well.  Note that the "galleries" menu should have a flyout submenu.  This doesn't work either, though I could remedy this by making "galleries" a page that links to the two submenues, but I'd kind of just like to get it fixed.
    As for the slideshow, I used a widget fromt the adobe exchange using Adobe Air.  It exported the code as its own html page and CSS, JS, etc, but I just inserted the HTML into a div in the index page.  Again, it works great in FF, not in IE.  I should also note that when I load the page in Dreamweaver CS4, I get a bunch of error menus saying this widget no longer exists.  Dreamweaver does not accurately display the slideshow either.
    Help on either of these issues would be most welcome.
    Thanks and God bless,
    Mike.

    I'm sorry to say it still doesn't work.  I hate to bother you and take your time, but at lease in IE 7 and 8, the slideshow still doesn't function.
    For anyone interested, the code at the bottom was generated by Yahoo web hosting servers, and is for tracking site statistics.  If you have a similar problem and want to get rid of that code as a possible solution, you have to go into the yahoo web hosting control panel, click "detailed statistics," then "options," and disable the site statistics tracking option.
    I could just try to go with another java slideshow, but I really like this one.
    Any other ideas on how to make it work?  Also, the flyout menus under "galleries" display behind the slideshow (or at least the box that shows it not working).  I suppose that may be fixed when the slideshow is fixed.  We'll see. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions to make it work.
    Thanks,
    Mike.

  • Using Vertical Spry Menus on Firefox

    I have tried to with inline CSS on ul tag to make the menus
    come closer together. My menus can go as deap as 5 levels and
    Firefox will cause the lower levels to move beyond the end of the
    screen at lower resolutions. Is there something that can be done in
    spry javacode or CSS to make the menus move closer together in that
    browser?

  • Spry flyout and IE problems

    I set up a site with a spry vertical menu with flyout
    submenus. It works fine in IE7, safari, and firefox. However, one
    of the clients for whom I did the site cannot display the menu
    correctly. The submenus "flyout", but half or more of the choices
    aren't visible. And, of course, all of the "formatting" doesn't
    show up either, but that part is ok...it's just borders and stuff.
    Anyone have any ideas what to do? I believe the problems are with
    IE 6, but this menu is supposed to work for that, right? It has the
    code included for the hacks. The URL is:

    isn't live yet. I have to get these bugs worked out.
