DW CS4 Custom Tags & Syntax Highlighting?

Hi,
I already created a custom tag in the \Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\configuration\ThirdPartyTags\Tags.xml like this:
<tagspec tag_name="mytag" tag_type="nonempty" render_contents="true" content_model="marker_model" start_string="(~" end_string="~)" detect_in_attribute="true" parse_attributes="false" icon="mytag.gif" icon_width="16" icon_height="15"></tagspec>
I read the instructions on 3rd party syntax highlighting here (Dreamweaver Help).
Whether I misunderstand something or it's not working.
1) The help speaks of "View > Invisible Elements". In DW CS4 is no menu entry like this - if you mean the menu. However I think this entry is ment: "View > Visueal Aids > Invisible Elements". It's enabled by default.
2) Under "Edit > Preferences > Highlighting" I activated the Third Party tags color.
I restarted Dreamweaver to be sure...but no code/tag is highlighted!

From my understanding, everything between the (~ ~) tags/delimiter (including them) should be colored in the 3rd party tag color or not? Also the open INPUT tag with the name "dynamic" confuses the normal HTML syntax highlighting of DW. I thought everything between my custom tags is kind of separated from the rest of the code? (the validator doesn't care either what's inside the custom tags).
Any ideas?

But it still goes looking for its own tags, which in your case simply isn't closed, hence the confusion.
I restarted Dreamweaver to be sure...but no code/tag is highlighted!
Are you sure the checkbox is ticked?

I am currently working on a PHP project, and we are using
*.thtml files for templates. The file isn't supported by
Dreamweaver, as it's a fictional file extension. First I couldn't
even open it with Dreamweaver, but after I added it in

Now my question - how can I activate syntax highlighting for
this filetype? It contains HTML and PHP, so it should work with the
same highlighter as all the other file types do..

Syntax highlighting not working with label on if statement in fortran in Visual studio 2010

I am having a difficult time in figuring out the syntax highlighting in Visual studio. I am using fortran code and there are labels in if statements as follows:
if_2003: IF (FRAC_PBED(NNSED,L).LT.0.0.AND.

So the problem I am having is when I click on the `if` next to label `if_2003`, then I cannot use `CTRL + ]` to move to the ending `if`. If there is no label before `if`, then the shortcut is working fine. I don't know what I could do so that it would start
behaving as it is supposed to.
In the contrary, when I have do loop as follows:

Javabean is a data object (or a data holder) whose properties can be accessed using getters, setters - ex getName() and setName()

How to access variables passed in custom tag body

I am developing custom tags in my application. I need to pass some variables from the .jsp file into tag file. I want these to be passed as body of the tag rather than as tag parameter. It seems the correct syntax for this is:
<myTags:display> someVariable </myTags:display>
Question 1: Can I not use this as: <myTags:display someVariable /> Since this tag will be used at many places in the jsp, I dont want to write myTags:display twice for every usage.
Question 2:
I want to call the tags from main.jsp like:
<% String var1 = "Display Me Please"; %>

<myTags:display var="<%=someVariable>"/> is a valid syntax for performing respective action of that variable. You can also use EL to pass the variable ${someVariable} provided the custom tag provide support for EL.

Just ensure that you declare all the related variables in Main.jsp and statically include Main.jsp in your jsp such that you do the checking

Different Styles in PlainView - Syntax Highlighting?

I've managed to extend PlainView and looking at old JEdit code I have the syntax highlighting working for the most part. However, at certain times while typing the cursor starts to get way ahead of the text it's typing. And as I backspace on the line the cursor eventually gets closer to the character the closer it gets to the start of the line.
I'm overridding the "drawUnselectedText()" method in PlainView to do the coloring.
Here's the code, you can see the call to SyntaxUtilities.paintSyntaxLine() which is JEdit's class to do the drawing.

I'm not sure what the problem is..i thought it might be an issue with the View and drawing multiple font styles. Since plain view only deals with a single font color and size. I tried using LabelView but that seems to need a StyledDocument and I had problems when I tried to use DefaultStyledDocument for my syntaxdocument. I was getting strange offset issues when using the Segment class.

I am using PlainDocument because that seemed to be what everyone was using for a syntax editor..since the structure of the document in a Plain Document is less complex.
I orginally started out using the setCharacterAttributes() method on the DefaultStyledDocument and letting the views draw the text. That all seemed to work except for the "segment offset" issue. And I wasn't sure where the best spot to get the document to redraw subsequent lines in the case of changing a multiline comment, etc.
So, everything I read about others attempts for syntax highlighters seems to use either StyledEditorKit with a fixed language set with custom parsing and using the setCharacterAttributes method. Or they use the plaindocument approach with a custom view..(which no one seems to share the source) or the project just simply uses the JEditTextArea directly (which we can't do in our product).
We don't need multiple fonts per-line.. The document will always use one font face (Arial, Helvetica, etc) but may use different styles per word (bold, italic, etc).
I thought I'd need to use FontMetrics to get the size of the font and such. But there didn't seem to be a difference in measurements based on the style of the font. (i.,e A bold font has the same charWidth('m') size as a regular style.
At least that's what my test program showed..
The other thing I noticed is that when the document is successfully colored and I use the mouse to select a region of text, the style of the text reverts back to normal. I'm sure that's because I only override the drawUnselectedText() method.
Any ideas? Is there anyone who has successfully done this?

I just tried using a proportional font in my editor, and now I'm seeing your runaway-caret problem. Specifically, the caret remains in sync with the text as long as no bold characters are encountered, but it gets noticeably farther out of whack with each bold character it passes. I suspect that, when you measured the charWidth, your FontMetrics object wasn't really based on a bold font, because bold versions of proportional fonts are larger. And of course, the model/view conversion methods assume that the same style of the same font is used throughout the document. I've never had to deal with that problem, since I've always used monospaced fonts by preference, and bold versions of monospaced fonts really are the same size as the non-bold versions. I suggest you do the same, because getting this to work with proportional fonts look like a major hassle.

Make sure you have the JSTL tag library selected in you deployment plan. Go to Project Properties->Deployments->your_deployment_profile->WWB-INF/Lib Contributors and check JSTL.

looking deeper in the class code jenerated from the jsp, I noted that the problem refers to the third attribute of the tag <ct:partizione>.
It seems It trys to set the attribute "partizione" with the value "tmpPartizione", but partizioni should be an output attribut non input. The varible tmpPartizione doesn't exist... the tag should create it.
I realized I didn't get how I should create a tag with output parameters.
Anyone can explane me it?

One suggestion: Take a closer look at the EL (expression language)
It has an excellent syntax for accessing collections/maps
${contenitoreCentralineTronco[index]} would exactly what you want, without having to write a custom tag for it.
If you REALLY want to do this as a custom tag, then you need to treat the input attribute as a String (the name of the variable you are going to create?) Right now your tag declares the attribute partizione as being of type ContenitorePartizioneBean which is probably the cause of the problem - you are passing it a String.

I am having problems deploying a jsp tag in web as. The same war file works fine on websphere, jboss. SAP web as seems to be complaining about the short name in the tld.
Can any body me to any known web as issues with jsp tags?

     I have almost migrated an application from jboss to CE 7.1 sp3 maxdb 32 bit
     however I am getting the following error on c:out tag of standard jslt.
Runtime error in processing of the JSP file [C:\usr\sap\CE1\J00\j2ee\cluster\apps\<....>\servlet_jsp\<application_context_name>\root\jsp\view\<jsp_name>.jsp].

Do anybody have some idea why is it happening.
My guess would be because of jslt version mismatch. but its working fine in jboss. I am not sure what version cE 7.1 support may be 1.2. any idea how to chek the supported version in the server.

from the SAP help text its said that jslt is being overrided by server to use from global library rather than local webapplication library. Couls woud explain where is this global library located in the server directory.

Unable to create a custom tag

Hi All
i am trying to make a custom tag in jsp2.0. I have made the java class which override the doTag method. I have created the tld file and put it in the directly WEB-INF FOLDER.I have written a jsp as well which uses this tag and the uri in the jsp mathces the uri in the tld file. Then it gives me the error message that unable to find the tld file.
then i made entry in the web.xml as well but now it is giving me an error:
JSPG0227E: Exception caught while translating /UseCustom.jsp: /UseCustom.jsp(19,1) --> JSPG0009E: Unable to load tag handler class com.hcl.taghandlers
I am using jstl 1.1 and jsp2.0 and the IBM Rational editor.

There was a very minute syntax mistake in the web.xml.
now it is working fine.

Query syntax highlighting lost when using national characters.

Theres a minor bug with syntax highlighting. If I have a query in sqldeveloper like -
select * from table
where name = N'fred'
and ... ... ...
All the coloured syntax highlighting is lost from the N' onwards.

I want to write a tag wich takes input and output as it is.Like when i pass an primitive types then it directly pass no transfer as we are puting "" literial to the values and pass it.

1: Correct XHTML syntax requires the quotes, and custom tags were designed to fit into XHTML syntax.
2: What would you possibly gain? doing <fun:add i1="10" i2="20" /> will translate the values to the appropriate data type for you - if you declare your set-method to have a Long prameter, then these values will be translated to Longs... Same for primitives...

After all, what goes between <% ... %> tags (and <%= ... %>) needs to be Java code. And <fun:add i1="10" i2="20"/> is not java code.

Simultaneous Client and Server Form Validation using Custom Tag Library

I am developing a custom tag library for validator tags
which are capable of doing client side validation (Javascript)
and server side (Java). My problem is with the development
of a regular expression based validator. Because of differences
in the way Javascript and Java handle regular expressions
i can not use the same regular expression for both types of
validation. Is there any way to convert a valid regular
expression from the java.util.regex format into the Javascript
format or vice versa? My major problems are with the (or, ||)
statements and the user of backslashes.

If you are speaking of RE syntax flavours, they are basically the same(namely perl5 flavour). Any expression that works in JS should work in j.u.regex too.
Though, their usage is quite different.
So, there is no need for convertion of expressions.
But porting the code may be not so trivial.
