DW Table View in Oracle

Hi Every one,
Em a student a doing a project of warehouse. Em facing lot of problem in owb n i needed ur help. i create a repository bcam3 through repository assistant. then i create table, external tables, dimension... of targer and import or create tables etc in source as well. i want to view all these table thruogh oracle sqlplus. when i log on through this repository (bcam3) it doesnt show all these tables, dim,ex table, files. Can you tell me. I shall be thank ful to you for this kind. Bye Bye God Bless You

Good morning Tanvir,
To elaborate a bit more on what Sergey has already told, OWB is nothing more than a repository of metadata, i.e. definitions of database objects.
In order to create physical database objects from these definitions, you first have to create a runtime repository connection. When you have done this, you can start the so-called Deployment Manager, which is the tool that enables you to deploy objects to the database. Don't forget to register the Location of all modules you've created objects in, otherwise OWB does not know where to deploy to.
I totally agree with Sergye that you first read the OWB10gR1 User Guide in order to understand what OWB exactly does.
The basic information you need to deploy objects are to be found in "Part III Deploying and Executing"of the User Guide, especially Chapter 13 Deploying Target Systems.
Good luck, Patrick

  • Which table/view holds Oracle procedure code?

On a course a while back, I remember being told one could query an Oracle table/view to list PL/SQL code against a procedure/package.
I cannot recall this table/view - any help please?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Also, please not that editing from dba_source directly can be a real pain, and ther new SQL Developer tools has a cool interface for editing PL/SQL source code:

  • Is there any table/view of errors?

    Dear Experts,
Is there any table/view in Oracle database where all the database errors can be viewed? Errors like ORA-00942, .....
    I am on Oracle 10gR2.
Thanks for taking your precious time in answering my question.
    Regards

If you are on Unix or Linux go to your $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/mesg and view the file oraus.msg
This file lists all of the error messages together with the Cause and Action, if they exist - kinda like the Error Messages document.
Oracle makes reading this file easy with the oerr shell script.
    For example:
    oerr ora 54
00054, 00000, "resource busy and acquire with NOWAIT specified"
// *Cause:  Resource interested is busy.
// *Action: Retry if necessary.I don't know why this file is not in the Windows distribution....

  • How to view the tables/views available in Oracle

    HI,
I am creating DB connection and importing the data from Oracle TABLES/ Views. I just want know how to view the tables/views available in Oracle. (I have the login details). Can I view thru TOAD? Pl let me know the best way and suggestions/ views / Links/ whitepagers.
    Regards,

    Hi,
I don't remember exacly: RSA1 -> source system -> "replicate datasources". Works this also in a DB-source system. I think so.
=> you get all tables that your user has authorisation.
This function execute for example (in oracle there are same information tables: dba_tables, user_tables ...) following select in the database:
    select TABLE_NAME from DBA_TABLES;

  • Developing database views between Oracle and SQL Server tables

I am on Oracle 10.2, my organization has many SQL Server databases as well and has now made
SQL server as company standard so many new databases will be developed in SQL Server. It is of course
not possible to convert all Oracle databases to SQL Server, so a mix environment will exist. Two questions:
    1.     Is it possible to develop database views in Oracle (10g in my case) which join Oracle tables with tables in SQL Server 2008? If yes, how. I have seen some heterogeneous connectivity setup to connect SQL Server to Oracle, but not sure whether it is possible to develop a database view across two databases.
    2.     I know it is not a SQL Server forum, but many DBA’s know both Oracle and SQL Server. Is it possible to develop views in SQL Server (SQL Server 2008 R2 in my case) which join Oracle 10g and SQL Server 2008 tables? I know in SQL Server, there is way to set up linked servers, but do not know whether it is possible to develop views.
Thanks a lot for your insight.

You can create views that join local Oracle tables and remote SQL Server tables. I'm pretty sure you can do the reverse as well but I haven't personally done it.
However, I would be very concerned about the performance you'd get if you created that sort of view. You'd very frequently end up in a situation where Oracle has to pull all the data in the remote table across the database link in order to apply predicates and join the data locally. That could be disastrous from a performance standpoint.

  • Can I define tables/views of another oracle database as data sources in DBI?

    Hi!
Assuming I created a dblink between an Oracle EBS database and another oracle database and I wish to create custom dashboards and reports in Oracle Daily Business Intelligence, will the tables/views from the another oracle database be allowed as the data sources?
    Thanks.

Pl do not post duplicates - Can I read data from other database and tables in Oracle Daily Business Intelligence?
Whether the custom tables are in the same database or a separate database is a trivial issue - a database link and local synonyms can easily mask where the tables are located.

  • Are there seeded tables/views of DBI dimension objects in Oracle EBS?

    Hi!
I wish to create custom Existing Source dimension objects but wish first to see exactly what is the table's structure (columns, width, data type). Are there seeded tables/views available in Oracle EBS?
    Thanks.

  • Looking for System Tables / Views like in Oracle DB - user_constraints, user_tab_columns, ...

    Hello,
I'm looking for system tables or views like in the Oracle Database.
First I'm looking for running /active sessions - like v$sessions or in an RAC environment gv$session
And get the corresponding SQL from v$sql
Second I had problems to drop tables due to constraints.
    Therefore I was looking for dba_constraints, all_constraints or user_constraints
    select * from user_constraints WHERE constraint_type in ('R');
With that information I'm able to generate a script to drop the constraints.
Third I want quick lookup about data types used in a table to correct my settings in Oracle BI.
For example which column in which table of my schema uses the datatype BIGINT.
If only 3 attributes in  two tables out of 100 use the BIGINT datatype - I'm able to quickly change my settings in the OBIEE repository.
    I'm missing a table like user_tab_columns.
How can I get the same information out of TimesTen ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Thorsten

    Hi Thorsten,
You should be able to get some of the information that you want from the TimesTen reports that are in SQL Developer.
    e.g.
<TimesTen Reports -> Table -> Columns -> Columns> returns a listing of all the columns and their data types. You can order by the data type column or add a filter (say ='TT_BIGINT') to restrict the result set.
<TimesTen Reports -> Table -> Constraints -> All Constraints / FK Constraints / PK Constraints / Unique Constraints>  returns a listing of all the constraints, their name, the table that the constraints are on, and their properties.
For all the SQL Developer reports, you will be able to see the underlying queries and the TimesTen system tables/ views that they reference.

  • Name the table or View in oracle for Package information

Please provide me the name of the table or view in oracle from where the names of all packages are available along with their associated procedures or functions..........if not exists then do inform a way to do it

select distinct name, referenced_name  from user_DEPENDENCIES  where referenced_type = 'PACKAGE'
order by 2;This also can help you get the list of sub-objects of a user defined packages. but it will list only those procedures/funtions etc of a package which has been referenced by other database object. So it may not give the full list of all the member objects of a package..
    select *  from user_DEPENDENCIES  where referenced_type = 'PACKAGE'
order by referenced_name;This will give you all the database object information accosiated with user defined packages.

  • Viewing table relations inside Oracle SQL Developer

    Hi,
I'm a PL/SQL beginner and I need to control the table relations for an Oracle database. I'm using the Oracle SQL developer tool.
Now, how can I see the table relation inside Oracle SQL developer tool?
    Thanks

    itshak wrote:
When working with tables based on user defined types, the FK relations between the tables are not displayed at the data modeler (and also at the worksheet query builder)
I don't think that applies here 1041141 mentioned he is a beginner and did not mention any usage of object types.
If you want to report an issue or possible bug, then please open an extra thread for that. In such a case it helps tremendously if you provide a working test case as well.

  • How to wrap a view in oracle

Does any one know how to wrap a view in Oracle, I know it is not possible, yet. Are there any third party software to wrap the logic in the view.
    Thanks,
    Sanjay

Your best bet is to write a view that queries the source tables and contains any necessary business logic
    CREATE VIEW VBASE AS SELECT A.COLUMN_A FROM TABLE_1 A, TABLE_2 B, TABLE_3 C WHERE A.ID = B.ID AND B.ID = C.ID;
create a view for exposure to the user that queries the base view.
    CREATE VIEW VSECURE AS SELECT COLUMN_B FROM VBASE;
    and grant privileges to VSECURE.
    GRANT SELECT ON VSECURE TO SECURE_USER;
This will allow the user to see, query, and describe VSECURE without seeing the definition for VBASE.
The advantage of the this approach is that the query engine can still push predicates down into the base view to optimize the performance or the query where as this is limited with the pipeline function and can become a tuning headache.

  • How to Register a View in Oracle Applications

    Hi,
I have created a Custom View and want it to see it in one of the BPA Pages. For this purpose I shall need to register the view in Oracle Applications.
Can you please provide me clues to do so. I tried the Application Developer responsibility, there I can only query the view and not register them.
Also if I try using backend I could get hold of Package AD_DD which registers a table. Any clues for registering the View would be welcome.
    Thanks

    Thanks for your response.
Actually I need to show Sales Order Line No, Federal Id and a few other Fields on our Invoice. Now these are not available in Oracle Recievables view. So I was trying to create my own View.
I created a View in database. Now I am trying to create a Data source and associate this (custom created) View to it. However my View is not showing in the Views List of Values.
I am not sure whether I am doing it right. Can you please help me with this. Any pointers to a document which explains my requirement would be great.
    Thanks

  • No data for Parent-child hierarchy column in Pivot table view

    Hi all,
    I used OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 Version.
I drag one Parent-child hierarchy column and one measure and show result with a pivot table view.
But when I click "+" icon to show detail level data,
It messaged that: "*the layout of this view combined with the data, selections, drills,or prompt values chosen resulted in no data*."
But it can show every-level data when I used table view.
    It was so strange..
    Did anybody meet this before?
    Thanks in advance.
    regards,
    Anne

    Hi,
Yes, I have the same problem with pivot table for hierarchy dimension.
If you use a normal table (not pivot) it seem to work. Unfortunatley with restrictions as normal table view have.
Same problem still exist in 11.1.1.6.5
I have logged a SR to Oracle about this.

  • How To Update A Table View From Client Side !!!!

Hi I would like to update a table view from the Client Side. So that the user can keep updating the relevent data on the client and when they have finally finished they can press Save so the entire page is then sent to the Server.
Does anyone know how to do this, I guess u have to use the EPCM, I have just started on it and would really appreciate some Help.
    Thanks,
    Emmanuel.

This is what I found :-
There are a couple of ways to approach this.
    1) load the excel spreadsheet into the database "as is". You can use interMedia
text to convert the .xls file into a .htm file (HTML) or use iFS (see
    http://technet.oracle.com/
    for
more info on that) to parse it as well. InterMedia text will convert your XLS
spreadsheet into a big HTML table (easy to parse out what you need at that
    point)
    2) Using OLE automation, a program you write can interact with Excel, request
data from a spreadsheet, and insert it. Oracle Forms is capable of doing this
for example as is other languages environments. In this fashion, you can remove
the "manual" and "sqlldr" parts -- your program can automatically insert the
    data.
    3) You can write a VB script that uses ODBC or Oracle Objects for OLE (OO4O) in
Excel. This VB script would be able to put selected data from the spreadsheet
into the database. We would recommend OO4O. It provides an In-Process COM
Automation Server that provides a set of COM Automation interfaces/objects for
connecting to Oracle database servers, executing queries and managing the
    results. OO4O is available from
    http://technet.oracle.com
