Dynamic bean call in JSF - is it possible?

Is there a way to make a method call on a backing bean that is only known at runtime?
For example, in the code below:
<h:commandButton value="Click" action="#{bean.foo}" />
public class Bean
    public String foo()
        // Execute action
        return "navigation";
}the call to bean in +<h:commandButton>+ is static. But what if I only know which
backing bean I'll call at runtime? I would like something like this:
<h:commandButton value="Click" action="#{(systemBean.beanName).foo}" />
public class SystemBean
    public String getBeanName()
        if (some test)
            return "bean1";
        else
            return "bean2";
}Is there a way to do this or a workaround?
Thank you.

and a way to let the application developer
do an action when a page loads and to know if it is a postback or not. If it had this
last feature I wouldn't be with the problem that I am now. In ASP.NET the Page class
(which all other pages derive) has the OnLoad method which is called everytime your
page loads. In Java you have the constructor for that. Or if initialization is to be done after setting the managed properties, then use a method annotated with @PostConstruct.
There you can check the IsPostBack property to find if it is a postback
or not.You can use ResponseStateManager#isPostBack() for that.
My problem is that I have to navigate to other page but at the same time execute an
action (call a method) in the page that I'm going to. The first problem (navigate) is
simple to solve, but not the second.As said: use the constructor or @PostConstruct.
This is my situation: I have a +<h:selectOneMenu>+ in a page with many options. The user
will select an option and click on a button. The action property of the button points
to a method. In the method I'll check what the option was and return a String to the
next page. So the navigation problem is solved. But I also need to call a method in the
backing bean related to the page that will be called for the page to reset its values
to start to collect new data from the user.I don´t fully get the picture, but this at least sounds like that the bean is been put in the session scope instead of the request scope.
JSF doesn´t make things complicated. Your way of thinking and designing is complicated.

    Hi everyone,
    I am calling a common bean function for all columns of a table from jsf inlineStyle, for each call i need to access caller column's headerText in bean.
    How can i access the same in that common function, i.e. for each column's call to the bean, i need the respective headerText accessible in bean.
    Can anyone help me out with this???

    store the value in page flow scope and get it anywhere you want.

  • Can CMT Session Bean call BMP Entity Bean in WebLogic 6.0?

              Hi
              Does anybody successfully use CMT Session Bean calling BMP +CMT Entity bean in

              Any idea will be appreciated.

              Let's say we have a Session bean SB, it uses container to manage the transaction.
              A method of SB will call an Entity Bean EB which adopts bean-managed persistence.
              Both SB and EB use CMT and all of their methods use "required" in the descriptor
              file.
              1. If the connection con.getAutoCommit() is true in the EB, then the transaction
              within SB cannot be rolled back as the ejbCreate() has already commit into the
              database.
              2. On the other hand if Connecton of EB con.getAutoCommit() is false, then container
              cannot successfully commit the transaction from SB's method, as EjbCreate and
              EjbStore() in EB are likely using the different database connections, which causes
              EbjStore() fail and the following error message will be sent to the Console:

    We did receive a 4.5.1 / 5.1 interoperability patch - but it wasn't quite 'seamless'.
    We never tried to use it.
    SOAP? Isn't that around 50 times slower than RMI?

    I have the same question - and more. Last year we were told that wecould

    I've been trying to convince the Architecture team here that we canuse WL

    supporting
    statement from BEA (maybe I haven't tried hard enough).

  • Dynamic method calls in bounded task flows?

    Hi!
    I have the following scenario:
    We are developing a framework in which we would include modules as ADF libraries (as JAR files) with bounded task flows. This framework contains a bean class with bindings for some UI components in framework which I enable or disable (depends on user action). That is the main reason bean class should be present in framework application.
    I have a bounded task flow in every module which needs to call a method in bean with UI component's bindings that would enable or disable that component.
    How can I achieve that? To pass bean as a parameter into bounded task flow and then call its methods? That is dynamic method calls for bean.
    I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.2.1.0
    Thanks for your help
    Regards, Marko

    Hi,
    I explained this; +"I have a bounded task flow in every module which needs to call a method in bean with UI component's bindings that would enable or disable that component. How can I achieve that? To pass bean as a parameter into bounded task flow and then call its methods?"+ a couple of times already (not sure if it was all for you) and don't think I change my position here. I also explained how to use a ValueExpression to lookp a managed bean containing component bindings (should be in requestscope).

  • Do we write one model bean for every JSF UI page?

    First, Please excuse my minimal knowledge in JSF, I am just starting to crawl :)
    Is my understanding about JSF that you will be writing one model bean class for every JSP page you have, CORRECT? (this is just my understanding, I may be wrong)
    This will be getting hard for large application.
    Ideal scenario: Say you have a JSP page A.jsp to associate an action reference you write a model bean class and have appropriate get method to return an Action object.
    Can we write an Action class, separated from the model bean class. I tried to create 2 different packages and one which just had a simple model bean and the other package had a Action class. I was not able to get this working as it was bouncing back with a Method innovation/Illegal argument exceptions. I am very confused here is it a necessity to write the action method in model bean or can we separate it? If we can separate it can we package it in to different packages?
    I may be confusing in explaining my questions but to put it black and white
    A)
    1 JSP Page (uses JSF components) = 1 model bean class (?)
    or
    B)
    1..n JSP pages (uses JSF components) = 1 or may be 2 model bean class (?)
    If B is possible how do we get the action classes towards this architecture and how can we get access to the various model bean objects in a single action class.
    Sorry for my vagueness....
    Thanks
    Ram

    In the particular case of your separate Action class,
    you still need a getter method for it somewhere. I
    find it easiest to include this getter in the same
    model bean that contains the data, but it doesn't have
    to be. Craig,
    It seems to be the consensus that a getter is required, but I've had perfect luck registering a single Action class in the application scope:
    <managed-bean>
      <managed-bean-name>fooAction</managed-bean-name>
      <managed-bean-class>org.bar.FooAction</managed-bean-class>
      <managed-bean-scope>application</managed-bean-scope>
    </managed-bean>And then referencing it directly:
    <h:command_button commandName="foo" actionRef="fooAction"/>This feels more like the Struts approach to me, as there's a single instance available. (If I wanted thread saftey, however, I could declare it in the request scope instead). I use this approach when there's no data associated with the Action (like a LogoutAction).

  • OSB Dynamic service call or dynamic route and transactions

    Hello,
    I've got the following problem in my OSB architecture for asynchronous incomming services.
    OSB version is 10.3.1
    ConnectionFactory is XA
    Problem domain:
    Dynamic service call or dynamic route within transaction boundary
    Elements within transaction:
    1.     JMS Queue ->
    2.     Upper Proxy Service (De-queue) ->
    3.     Lower Proxy Service (Canonical Service) ->
    4.     Business Service (Data Service) ->
    5.     Database Adapter->
    6.     Database
    Dynamic element
    Upper Proxy Service (De-Queue) must be able to determine which Lower Proxy Service (Canonical Service) has to be called on the basis of the message taken from the JMS Queue without losing the transaction (this doesn’t work yet).
    Already tried possible solutions:
    •     Make a service call dynamic by setting the $inbound name attribute. This results in a this property is read-only error.
    •     Use a Dynamic route instead of a service-call. This results in a loss of transaction. The message is deleted from the Queue without taking failure or success into account.
    •     Use a Dynamic route with a quality of service set to exactly once in the header. This seems to be ignored, results in a loss of transaction.
    •     Use a Dynamic route with an explicit reply with failure for errors. Results in a loss of transaction.
    •     Use a Dynamic Publish. This doesn’t fit the required flow because it has no response.
    I hope someone can shed some light on this because I'm at a total loss. I found some references in the forum to what seems to be the same problem but without definite answers. A work-around is also a viable answer.
    Regards,
    Bas Mul

    Hi,
    I'll try to clarify.
    Upper proxy dequeues a message.
    Depending on a value of a specific tag within the message a canonical proxy service (out of 5 at the moment but this numer could increase) has to be called (and be dynamic transform transformed to the format of the specific canonical).
    The canonical service must then pass the message to a database adaper's business service which is responsible for the database insert/update/read.
    If something in the chain from dequeue to database action goes wrong the message may not dissapear from the queue.
    Somehow a dynamic route in the message flow between dequeue proxy and canonical proxy breaks the transaction.

  • PL/SQL Dynamic procedure call - arrays

    I'm having a lot trouble dynamically calling procedures that have an array as a parameter value. It looks like it's not possible as I'm getting the deadly 'PLS-00707 unsupported construct or internal error [num]' message.
    Is that true, that I can't pass an array in a dynamic procedure call?
    The example procedure I'm calling is,
    PROCEDURE test(pusr in NUMBER,
    ptble IN VARCHAR2,
    prprt IN VARCHAR2,
    pccyy IN VARCHAR2,
    parea IN VARCHAR2,
    pregn IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT null,
    poffc IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT null,
    ptime IN VARCHAR2,
    pmnth IN NUMBER DEFAULT null,
    pqrtr IN NUMBER DEFAULT null,
    prow IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT null,
    carray IN array_pcat)
    If I call it like this it works fine.
    uwsdm_web.test(pusr=> 100,
    ptble=>'mic',
    prprt=>'MIC3',
    pccyy=>'1999',
    parea=>'Statewide',
    pregn=>'0',
    poffc=>'0',
    ptime=>'Year',
    pmnth=>0,
    pqrtr=>0,
    prow=>'1,2,3,4',
    parray=> carray);
    where carray is the array.
    If I change the carray to a value (numeric or character), I get a "PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'TEST'" error. Efforts to pass multiple values also failed.
    If I try to dynamically create the query and pass in the variable of carray, I run into similar problems because it's trying to allocate an array to one line of code.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • Input data during dynamic vi call

    Hi guys. Is it possible to input data during a dynamic VI call?
    For eg, i have a car.vi When i call this vi dynamically, i want to also input the value turn left or turn right. How do i acheive this in LV?

    hi there
    use a invoke node on the VIs reference and call the "Set control value" method to set values of controls during execution of the dynamic VI. Use "Get control value" to retrieve values from indicators.
    another possible solution would be the usage of a so called LV2 style global a.k.a. FGV (functional global variable). this needs more drawing but is much more efficient and powerful.
    DO NOT use simple global variables.

    In your case, I would simply do a #8 Reinstall OS X, that will wipe out all third party at boot kernel extension files and give you a nice clean new OS X free of corruption. This way it also clear ones your not using anymore.
    ..Step by Step to fix your Mac
    Then I would see if the machine ran fine like that (minus some programs of course without their kernel extensions) with no KP's, if there are some more then it's one of the other programs your using currentl and reintall those.
    If everything is fine, check for updates for those programs with at boot kernel extensions and install them one at a time carefully and seee when your problem returns.
    Also run further through the Steps to eliminate any other issues.

  • Send a back bean to another jsf

    Hi to everyone,
    can anyone tell me, how i can send a back bean of a jsf page to another jsf page.
    For example JSF1 send his to bean to JSF2.
    It's like a session variable?
    Thanxs, Fabio

    Hello,
    If the backing bean is defined as the managed bean in the faces-config xml, then you can retrieve the backing bean which is in the session context from the sessionMap as follows:
    facesContext.getExternalContext().getSessionMap().get("YOUR BACKING BEAN NAME");
    Also, you can create a value binding with the name of your session bean and get it from the faces context.

  • Static verse dynamic dispatch call

    I'm just getting started with creating my own lab view classes using the class object but I'm having trouble with some of the basic concepts. Are there any good tutorials or knowledge base articles which talk about how to create and use LabVIEW classes? I'm getting hung on static verses dynamic dispatch calls specifically.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Craig

    I'm still getting a handle on LVOOP myself.
    Those two different methods control which VI actually gets called when your app is running.
    THe static method is very similar to calling a normal sub-VI in LV except you are passing LVOOP data.
    The dynamic comes into play when you have more than one class and one is a child of the other. In that case you can create a VI for the child that has the same name as a VI in the parent, but because it has different data, the data it accepts and return is different. This OTHER VI in the child will under the right condition be called instead of the VI in the parent. I understand this to be concidered over-riding. Which versino will be called? It is dicated by the data you pass to the sub_VI call. If you pass the parent data, the parent versino will be called and vise versa.
    So the VI to call is determined at run-time depending on the data.
    I hope I got that right!

    How do u save data more than one table using net beans ide using JSF (I am using POJO) ?
    and also Tell me the reference book for JSF.

    So, I am using net beans IDE 6.1 from sun microsystem. It is a free software.No, you don't drag'n'drop if you're new to JSF. Switch to source code mode. Write code manually, with the help of IDE for the speed up.
    So, please guide me the reference books, articles. I need the basic understanding of JSF, net beans IDE.[JSF: The Complete Reference|http://www.amazon.com/JavaServer-Faces-Complete-Reference/dp/0072262400] is a good book. The [JSF specification document|http://jcp.org/aboutJava/communityprocess/final/jsr252/index.html] is also a good reading to understand what JSF is and how it works. There are also javadocs and tlddocs of Sun JSF Mojarra.

  • Dynamic Bean

    Hi,
    According to the definition of dynamic bean, if any of the superclass implements DynamicPropertyMapper then all the subclasses will get the dynamic bean behavior.
    But suppose if we do add some property to the existing definitions of Profile Object or else, then do we need to write setter/getters or not?
    And suppose if we have created any new item-descriptor in the OOB Repository, then again do we need to write setter/getters, for the properties defined, or not?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Bhanuj Bawdhane

    when you add some properties to the existing or new item descriptors, those will have dynamic behavior.
    In customcatalog.xml, if you add some properties to product item descriptor then no need to create setters and getters for those because by using any job or scheduler you can update those properties.
    In userprofile.xml, if you add new property like isAnonymous, then create setters and getters in class testProfile by extending Profile. This property will be set basing on the user login whether anonymous or not. Same will be applied to Order item descriptor also.
