Dynamic creation of single reports for characteristic value combinations

Dear Experts,
We have a report showing the monthly sales from one reporting unit (RU) to another u2013 see example below:
RU 1, RU 2, Sales 100
RU 1, RU 3, Sales 60
RU 2, RU 1, Sales 20
RU 2, RU 3, Sales 40
There is a requirement to automatically generate single reports for each combination of RUs selling to each other and broadcast these reports automatically by mail:
Report 1:
RU 1, RU 2, Sales 100
Report 2:
RU 1, RU 3, Sales 60
Report 3:
RU 2, RU 1, Sales 20
Report 4:
RU 2, RU 3, Sales 40
Of course it would be possible to create single reports for each combination using fixed filter values. But we need a dynamic calculation because there are not always sales for each combination.  Moreover this would be difficult to maintain, because each time a new reporting unit has been created, new reports have to be created as well. We are looking for a completely dynamic solution,
Maybe there is a way to solve it with the BEx Broadcaster function u201Cprecalculation of value setsu201D or u201Cburstingu201D. But we unfortunately do not have any experience with this.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help!
Best regards
Marco

Hi,
Using the bursting functionality in the broadcaster this is possible. I think you would want to send the reports from RU1 to RU2 and RU1 to RU3 to a recipient linked to RU1 or somehting. In that case you need to add an attribute email to the RU infoObject. In the bursting settings you can use that value to determine the recipient of the email. Furthermore, you can automatically split the resultset to receiving reporting unit.
If you have any specific questions regarding this subject, let me know.
Kind regards,
Alex

  • Need to run the report for All Values when Null is passed in parameter

    Hi All,
In my BIP report, I am using a parameter :asset with Type as Text, which means user will type the values for the parameter in the text box.
Now, this parameter can take multiple comma separated values. I have a requirement to run the report for All Values when user doesn't enter any value in the parameter text box and if user enters any value(s) then the report will run for those values . The way, I tried to handle that in the query using couple of ways was :
IMP : My Database is SQL Server
    where
    (table.asset = isnull((:asset), table.asset) or table.asset in (:asset))
Now this works fine when I give a single asset number but when I give multiple values separated by comma like 123, 345 in the text box, then the statement fails saying 'encountered ,'
    I also tried simply
table.asset in isnull((:asset),table.asset) -- but this doesn't work as it doesn't allow me to use in operater while using isnull and if i will use = operater then it won't work in case of multiple values
Any suggestions on how can I handle this? Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ronny

thanks for replying, but i tried this option too, it did not work for me, neither isnull nor coalesce. I mean, the solution work for single value but when i pass multiple values then separated by a comma then it doesn't work and shows me an error like "Incorrect Syntax ','". I am using SQL server as DB and bip is 10.1.3.4.1
also please share the SR number, so i can also check the same.
can there be any other work around to this?
    thanks,

  • Generate change documents for characteristic value changes in material master

    Hello,
I am currently using material class (class type: 001) and assign some characteristics to material master. I am going to create a query/custom report to track all changes in the characteristic values in that material master. However, I could not find any change document in CDHDR table.
I have activated "Change Docs" parameter in class type 001 customizing as described in SAP note: 65124 Classification Change Documents as follow:
Is it possible to generate change documents for characteristic values in material master?
    Regards,
    Julian

    Hi Rajen,
Thanks for your reply. It seems that I missed one more step in the customizing. Once the multiple object is activated, I need to activate the change document parameter for each assigned object.

  • Running-report-for-all-values

    Hi ,
Based on this link i have implemented this logic....
    http://bischool.wordpress.com/2009/08/26/avoid-running-report-for-all-values-on-dashboard-when-using-multi-select-prompt/
But for the intermediate report its taking more time to run...nearly 4min...is there any way to reduce it.
    Thanks

    hi User,
    Quick question
Why you are giving (-1) value's as per the doc we can give any value which has to give no results? Have u tried to give some other value ?
Next,Do u have left outer joins between those tables? If yes you should face the same problem with the main report because the filters to be same as intermediate report am i right ?
First tune-up the rpd and get the main report query ,run-it over DB
Due to huge data and the join taking more time....is there way any thing to add to reduce the time??Huge data ?? Intermediate report will not get any results i think it will not take more time to give a message, but due to join conditions only it is taking long time to run
Note :Before getting value from DB it will check the where condition( joins)
    Thanks,

  • CM2012 Single report for deployments (packages, apps & TS)

With the introduction of the new Application Model deployments in ConfigMgr 2012 is there anyway to report on deployments regardless is its a package, TS or App deployments in terms of status and laststatus time.
    Hi All,
    **Re-posting in correct forum :-) **
I've been looking through the current reports and I haven't found a way to report on what we need.
Our requirement is to be able to report on the count and status of the deployments per Client that have executed in a given timeframe (say the previous 30 days\1 month)
What we are trying to achieve is a single report for the results of all deployments (apps, packages, TS) per client within a certain timeframe.
When it was simply advertisements in ConfigMgr 2007 this could be achieved using the Last Status times within the ClientAdvertisementStatus view in combination with the views Advertisement, AdvertisementStatusInformation and CurrentAdvertisementAssignments.
There is some decent reporting on deployments – particularly the DeploymentSummary view, which contains combined information on Apps, Packages and TS but what seems to be missing is the last or latest status time to indicate when
the status occurred (or when the app deployment executed). I’ve been looking through the other views but haven’t yet found a last status time so we can report within a given timeframe.
Anyone else looked at creating this or something similar yet?
    Thanks

Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up. Did you solve this problem, if so what was the solution?
It is unclear to me, do you look at the built-in report and try to modify them? Which built-in report give you the best results?

  • Managing characteristic value combinations in APO DP

I am using APO DP V5.
I have two questions regarding characteristic value combinations (CVCs) in APO DP:
    1. Suppose I am planning with planning characteristics of product and customer. I have existing CVCs of product 1 at customer A, and product 2 at customer B. Suppose I have new sales history data in a Cube for a 'new' CVC product 1 at customer B. I assume that if I try and load from the Cube to the planning area then system will object because CVC does not exist? And so I should <u>first</u> generate CVC from the Cube.
    2. Suppose I want to plan for new CVCs, for which there is <u>no</u> sales history available.
Looking at transaction /SAPAPO/MC62, I could follow options of:
    (a) generate CVCs from a 'dummy Cube' which I load from a spreadsheet
    (b) load from a 'file' (eg tab delimited)
    My questions:
2a. Which option is best practice? The 'file' option looks simpler
2b. For the 'dummy Cube' option, what fields are required - is it just the planning characteristics, eg product, customer in my example, and planning version. Does one have to include a 'dummy' key figure as well?
    Thanks for any advice.
    Bob Austin

    Hi Bob,
The Somnath and Harish answered your first two questions. Regarding the characteristics that you need to have in your "dummy cube", the simple rule isyour Planning Object Structure has to be a subset of "dummy cube" or the dummy cube should have all the characteristics in your Planning Object Structure and can have more..
The key figure is irrelevant for CVCs as they are only master data. But the CVCs are only those combinations that have a transaction data value. Let me explain this with example: your dummy cube has the following data
    Cust---Div-SalesOrg-Company-qty.----no.of records
    PA----01---LAALT20--
    5
    GB----02---MGOLR50--
    2
    MD----05---RIPIL10--
    1
    PA----02---LAALT20--
    6
    MI----01---LAPLM20--
    7
    PA----01---LAALT20--
    2
    Your planning Object Structure has
    customer, division and company
When you reference the dummy cube and create CVCs, here is the list
    Cust---Div---Company
    PA----01-----ALT
    GB----02-----OLR
    MD----05-----PIL
    PA----02-----ALT
    MI----01-----PLM
    PLease
Observe that the dummycube is a superset of your Planning Object Structure and the CVCs are generated for only those possible combinations of characteristics in Planning Object Structure that have a transaction data value in your dummy cube.
Please feel free to comment or ask questions.
    Thanks.

  • Removing # sign in the Report for Blank Value

    Guys,
I was trying to use the below code VB, but i am getting error like Expected: End of statement.
I am new to VB, do anyone have step by step guide to implement the below macro for Excel and remove the # from BEx analyzer.
Do i need write this macro for each query? I totally dont understand the link.
Kindly guide to run the macro and avoid # in reporting.
Do I need to implement this macro on each end user client server ?
    Removing '#' in Analyzer (Report)
In ODS, there are records having a value BLANK/EMPTY for some of the fields. EX: Field: `Creation Date' and there is no value for some of the records.
For the same, when I execute the query in Analyzer, the value `#' is displaying in place of `BLANK' value for DATE and other Characteristic fields. Here, I want to show it as `BLANK/SPACE' instead of `#'. How to do this?
I had a similar problem and our client didn't want to see # signs in the report. And this is what I did. I created a marco in Workbook as SAPBEXonRefresh and run my code in Visual Basic editor. You can run same code in query also as when you will refresh query this # sign will be taken care. You can see similar code in SAP market place.
I will still suggest not to take out # sign as this represent no value in DataMart. And this is SAP standard. I did convince my client for this and later they were OK with it.
    The codes are below:
Sub SAPBEXonRefresh(queryID As String, resultArea As Range)
    If queryID = "SAPBEXq0001" Then
    resultArea.Select
    'Remove '#'
    Selection.Cells.Replace What:="#", Replacement:="", LookAt:=xlWhole, _ SearchOrder:=xlByRows, MatchCase:=False, MatchByte:=True
    'Remove 'Not assigned'
    Selection.Cells.Replace What:="Not assigned", Replacement:="", LookAt:=xlWhole, _ SearchOrder:=xlByRows, MatchCase:=False, MatchByte:=True
    End If
' Set focus back to top of results
    resultArea(1, 1).Select
    End Sub

    Anand,
This is what I have used in the past and works just fine
    Sub HashRemoval()
        Application.ScreenUpdating = False
        Cells.Replace What:="#", Replacement:="", LookAt:=xlWhole, SearchOrder:= _
            xlByRows, MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False, ReplaceFormat:=False
        Application.ScreenUpdating = True
    End Sub
But I have this as a separate macro that can be called any time.

  • All Dates displayed for "Characteristic Values" in Query Designer

    Hello Experts,
We are on BI 7.0, level 13.  I am having an issue within the Query Designer with regards to dates.  I have a write-optimized DSO that contains 3 date fields (for example, ZDATE1, ZDATE2, and ZDATE3).  Each date InfoObject is of type DATS so the system automatically creates it with reference to 0DATE.
When I create a query in the Query Designer, on the left hand side, I expand the "Characteristic Values" node under each date field.  The Query Designer shows the same list of values for each of the 3 dates even though they are not valid values posted in the DSO for those fields.
For example, ZDATE1 only has 1 value posted in the DSO (01/01/2005).
ZDATE2 only has 1 value posted in the DSO (01/01/2006).
ZDATE3 only has 1 value posted in the DSO (01/01/2007).
Bute when I expand the "Characteristic Values" node in the Query Designer, I see ALL THREE values under each date field.  I would expect to only see the 1 value posted for the InfoObject in the DSO.  Also note that each InfoObject is defined to show "Only posted values in InfoProvider".
It appears that Query Designer will show all values for the reference InfoObject 0DATE instead of the ones posted to the actual InfoObject in the DSO.  If I delete the data in the DSO, the Characteristic Values list still remains because they exist in 0DATE.  Anyone encounter this before?  How can I get the Characteristic Values list to only show posted values for that InfObject?
    Thanks for your help!
    J

Thanks for the response.  I went into the DSO and right clicked on each of the Date fields.  I looked at the Provider-specific properties and there is the option for "Query Exec.FilterVal" which only restricts what values appear when restricting during execution, not during query creation.
Is there someplace else I should look or someplace else I can make change to only display posted dates when creating a query?  Thanks!

  • Hide a row or column for characteristic value # in Query Designer

    Hi gurus,
I would if we could hide a result row / column if one of the characteristic value is #. The requirement is actually to remove the meaningless row / column from the whole result set. For example, I have a char Material Group in the column. Since not every Material is assigned to a Material Group, I will get the following layout:
    Material_Group A
    Material_Group B
    Material_Group C
Is it possible to define in query designer so that the column with # will automatically not be displayed?
    Thanks,
    Meng

    Hi Meng,
I guess we have the same users..
But there is one thing that is going to make a non sense on the report: if you do not display the "#" for material group, then the total of your query by material group will not be the summation of what is displayed on the screen...and if the user explort the information in Excel (pretty sure they will do so), you will have some calls that your query does not balance....
Based on that assumption, tell the users to assign a material group to the materials, so that this unassigned column disappears. You could even give them a control report listing all the parts that do not have a material group
If this is a standard business rule not to have a material group for all parts, then, what you could do is to change the text for empty rows for Material group, then the "#" will disappear and wil be under the text description you defined.
But keep in mind that your data is made of materials which do not have a material group in their definition, noraml or not ?

  • Asset Initial Upload & reporting for uploaded value

    Hi SAP Gurus,
I have uploaded the asset data using AS91 and also updated the GL values in OASV.
The initial upload seems to be all correct in this manner since TB is tallying.
However when i view the FA reports for the date of upload i am finding discrepancies in the Accumulated Depreciation values as shown in the report & the values uplaoded in AS91.
Let me explain further, say for eg. the Cost of the asset was Rs. 10,000/- and Accumulated Depreciation as per legacy (as on date of upload) is Rs. 1858/-. However the actual Accumulated Depreciation should have been Rs. 1863 --- the diffference in legacy data was due to runding offs in previous months.
Now when i uploaded the intial data i used the legacy figures i.e. Rs. 10,000 & Rs. 1858 since trial balance had to be tallied.
However when i run reports in FA for the initial upload date, i find that the reports are showing the Acc. Depn (plan values) as Rs. 1863 & not the value that i have uploaded.
What possibly is the reason for this ?
Can anyone tell me any report to view only the uploaded information ?
Points will be awarded for useful answers.
    Thanks & Regards
    Piyush Kothari

    Hi,
There is an error appearing as below:
"Report date 31.08.2007 is invalid for this report.
Reports of this kind can only be run for the last day of the period in which the last depreciation posting run took place (or in a subsequent period) in the relevant fiscal year.
It is not possible to run a report on posted depreciation in a fiscal year in which no depreciation posting run has yet taken place."
My legacy upload date was 31.08.2007.
When i run for 31.12.2007 (last period in the fiscal year for which dep. run has taken place) then the results are ok.
But still i would like to assign some points to you since this would have helped indeed.
    Thanks

  • Single Report for production scrap and Movement type 551 scrap

    Hi All,
Can we include the scrap information from production and scrap from movement type 551 into a single BW report?.......My assumption is we cannot include it into a single report coz production scrap will have a different material information and scrap from movement type 551 will have a different material information..please correct me ig i am wrong......
    Regards,
    Shravani

    hello,
you can have a single report by two options
    1. have a variable on movement type.If you choose 551..U will get materials of tht movt type.
also if the select teh movt type for prodcution, it wil display its materials.
    or
    2. U have to place  movt type in the rows.Place movt type and then material in the rows.
Then u will get for each movt type..its corresponding materials. No variable selection needed here.

  • Report for stock value at Warehouselevel

    Hi
I need to generate  a report of stock value at the warehouse level.
please let me know the tables to be linked to get the report.
    Thanks

    Hi Nainar,
You can use MB52 and if you get the list you can use 'sum' icon to get the total value (on the selection screen you can set wether SAP should display values or not).
You can also use MB5L, MC.A transactions. If you want to check the stock only for one material you can check it in material master record on Accounting1.

    Hi,
I am generating a Group Above report in Oracle Reports Builder 10g.
The scenario is that this report needs to be generated for several branches of a bank. The report needs to get generated in a different pdf file for each branch.
The report, I have built, has a repeating frame based on the Branch group and all other reqd data are organised into repeating frames within this master frame.
Currently the report is getting generated for all branches with the correct data but in the same pdf file.
    Please help.

    Hello,
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_17/bi.1012/b13895/orbr_dist.htm
37 Bursting and Distributing a Report
Oracle Reports enables you to deliver a single report to multiple destinations simultaneously. By taking advantage of this feature, you can create a single report, then send it in any format (for example, PDF or HTML) to multiple destinations.
In this example, you will modify a simple report we have provided to burst each group to a separate report. You will then modify a sample distribution XML file to send an e-mail to each destination with an attachment based on the separate reports. You will also send multiple e-mails to the same e-mail address with a single attachment (the entire report).
