Dynamic default bind variable
Hi!
I have a bind variable in a view object, where i want the default variable to be a text version of now (timestamp) in the format 'dd-mm-yyyy HH:mm'.
I have tried to look at a solution using Groovy Expression, but I cannot figure out how to do it.
Please HELP!!!! :-)

You can create a method in your viewObject implementation class and retrieve the value from there, using groovy.
I have used something similar to retrieve a dynamic parameter in an Entity validator.

How to default bind variable using session variable at run time
Hi All,
I have a requirement where all VO queries (multiple VOs) produce only records that meet a certain value.
For example, I have three tables with 3 VOs and each of them has a one-to-many relationship to another table (let's call it ref table and this table has a field called release). One of the 3 VOs is a parent/master table, and the other two are child tables. I created a VO for master table that linked to the ref table and created a view criteria using the release (use bind variable) field from the ref table. The other child tables have their own VO that has view criteria that also linked to ref table using the release field.
On the UI page, I created a query component and a table from the master table VO. I also dropped the child table VOs in a tabbed panel which partial triggered by the master table. When I ran a query for a 'release' (hint: ref table value), the table for master table was filled the correct records that meet the criteria. Unfortunately, the child tables were not correct due to the query didn't use the bind variable that filter only records for the same 'release' value as the master table.
The question is how do I 'default' or dynamically set the bind variable on the child tables based on the selection criteria from the query component. I am thinking to set a session variable from the query and use it in the bind variable in the child table, but not sure how to do it.
Any suggestion how to do it or better solution to achieve the same effect?Hi,
How about creating a custom AMImpl method, that takes parameters as required, and set the bind variables for all the desired VOs and perform executeQuery on them.
You could expose this as client interface, and then use the method as parameter form.

About dynamically setting bind variable in LOV View
Hi,
I have a LOV VO for an af:SelectOneChoice field in the page.
The LOV is depended on an SQL statement in which there is a bind variable in the where clause.
When I open the page, I set the bind variable by using VO.setNamedWhereClauseParam in the prepareSession method in the application module, followed by VO.executeQuery();
The problem is, the af:SelectOneChoice is blank. Why?
If I do not use the bind variable in the SQL, I can see rows in the af:SelectOneChoice field.
When is the proper time to populate the LOV? And where should I put the code for populating the LOV?
I am sure that the VO is populated, because after I executeQuery, there are many rows in the VO.

Yes, when I set a default value for the bind variable, everything is OK.
But I want the bind variable dynamically be set when the AM is initiated. Is there a way to do that?

Creating on the fly dynamic named bind variable names.
I have an application process which gets called by a Dynamic action and Javascript.
Everything is working great however I'm using it to drive dynamic charts.
I could use IF statements at the end of the application process to decide what BIND vairable to fill with the information the process has collected however I'd prefer just to create the BIND variable from the
name of the submitted information.
So I have an application level variable called WHICHCHART. this gets populated with text upon calling the application process...so let's say 'chart1' is what it gets filled with.
What I"d like to have at the end of the application process is just a bind variable waiting called :chart_1.
So no matter what the value of WHICHCHART it will create an on the fly a bind variable with the same name.Ok. I guess this question was more how do you do this..then OH NO there are not other ways to do this.
So I have a page with a chart region. this chart will have 3 Y Axes which prohibits the use of the default XML.

How to set default bind variable value to task parameter value

I 'm implementing a BPEL process with a human task, and I autogenerate the task form. I have a custom sql table that stores opinions, different processes should show different opinios, so my ADF table can only show records related to that process. A custom process number is sent to the task form as a task parameter. How do I use that value as the bind variable default and only value?

Using bind variable in dynamic where clause and concatenate with query

In my procedure i am framing where clause dynamically with bind variable,When i am concatenate this with my sql query for REF CURSOR i got sql command not properly ended exception.
Is it possible to pass values to the bind variable through the dynamic variable/value?

Dynamically assign value to bind variable in a view object before pageload
I found that it is extreamely hard to find an example to assign the bind variable in View object at runtime using a data attribute defined in Human task activity. Most of the available samples use a Literal value to do the assignment. In my case, I want to dynamically display the content by assigning the data attribute in Human task to the bind variable in view object before a pageload.
I do not want to bind the view object to some command component to click a button or link in order to make it work (Unnecessary components in my page).
The issue is how to access the data attribute in Human task in the java code of client interface in AppModule? or is there a way that I can access the data attribute in Groovy script expression of the bind variable? or if I can access the process data object defined in my BPM process to do the assignment at runtime?
Really need help on the issue, and I cannot believe that it is so hard to accomplish.

Error in Dynamic LOV with Bind Variable
Hi
I created 2 Dynamic LOV's in which Second one is with a Bind Variable.Then I creted a Form and Attached the LOV's to the form fields.But I am getting the below mentioned error when i choose a value in the First LOV and the Second LOV is not Populated. I tried the same thing with the scott.dept and scott.emp table which is working fine.but when i try the same on my tables it is throwing me error.
Can Anyone Suggest me what is the problem of these LOVs

1)I am writing SELECT on Views in the LOVs and the views are created on tables of a different of database.

I got my dependent LOV work after changing the NUMBER datatype in the Procedure to VARCHAR2.(Then in the PL i converted the character to number by the SQL function.)

Portal bind variables in Dynamic Pages
I have two bind variables in a dynamic Page:
Variable Default Value
:p_lrg_item_id 12153
:p_lrg_color 'Rock/Black'
I put the two variables in the where clause of my select
statement:

Then when I run the Page the query does not return any rows. So
I tested my query on the database and it returned the row. So I
took out the "and prdat.paval = :p_lrg_color" and the query
returned all of the rows. I also put the following line in the
code to view the variable: "htp.p('<p>'||upper(:p_lrg_color)
||'</p>')" and it printed 'Rock/Black' on my page. Has anyone
else ran into this problem with bind variables.

Is it really necessary to proceed as such?
It will be better to use Static PL/SQL(stored procedures , functions and package) as far as there will be an "auto binding". If you use static SQL you will not have to care about using bind variables inside your PL/SQL code. All you have to do is to make sure you will call your stored PL/SQL procedure using bind values in the input parameters

Dynamic sql and bind variables

I have a stored procedure which filters a table on 5 five columns. The filters come from the input parameters,
and these 5 parameters can come in any combination, I mean some of them may be null and some of them may not be null.
So I constructed the where filter of the query with IF blocks like the following:

The problem is how can I construct the USING and bind parameters, I cannot use "USING P1, P2, P3, P4, P5" because some of bind variables
may not be in dynamic query if the input parameters are null. Is there a way to overcome this problem without writing all the 2 ^ 5 combinations?

The way I'm doing in my report is, I have a database function (f_ret_sysdate) with the following code
create function f_ret_sysdate return varchar2

return to_char(sysdate,'mm/dd/yyyy');
end;
Now, in the 'Customization Form Display Options' section of the report I'm calling this function as #f_ret_sysdate in the default value field of corresponding bind variable to display SYSDATE with the format.

Dynamic view object loses bind variables after passivation
I am creating a view object definition/view object programmatically in Jdev 11.1.1.2.0. The query requires a named bind parameter. All was working fine but now I am testing with app module pooling disabled and the bind variable is not being restored after passivation -- it's like the definition has disappeared or something.
Here is my VO creation code:

The query executes fine right there and then the VO seems to passivate fine. I even see the bind var in passivation:

-Ed@Jobinesh - Thanks for the suggestions. I have read all the documentation I can find. Everything works fine without passivation. Everything still breaks with passivation. I have given up on trying to get the bind variable to restore after passivation and am currently just building the query with all values embedded in the query rather than bind variables. This is bad practice but avoids the problem. However, now that I avoided that obstacle, I'm on to the next issue with passivation of this dynamic view object, which is that the current row primary key apparently cannot be reset after activation. I get the following error:

Get bind variables of a dynamic view object
I seem unable to retrieve the bind variables for a dynamically created view object, even though I can do the same thing for a regular view object.
Here is the code:
newVO = repServ.createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("newQry",strSql);
VariableValueManager vvm = newVO.ensureVariableManager();
if (vvm != null)
Variable vars[] = vvm.getVariables();
vars will be empty, even though the sql statement in strSql has bind variables in it.
Is there any way to determine the bind variables of a dynamic view object?

Using bind variables (in & out) with dynamic sql
I got a table that holds pl/sql code snippets to do validations on a set of data. what the code basically does is receiving a ID and returning a number of errors found.
To execute the code I use dynamic sql with two bind variables.
When the codes consists of a simpel query, it works like a charm, for example with this code:

END;however when I get to some more complex validations that need to do calculations or execute multiple queries, I'm running into trouble.
I've boiled the problem down into this:

The error doesn't seem to make sense, :2 is the only IN bind variable, and it's only used in a where clause.
As soon as I remove that where clause , the code will work again (giving me 61-61, in case you liked to know).
Any idea whats going wrong? Am I just using the bind variables in a way you're not supposed to use them?
I'm using Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bitCorrection. With execute immediate binding is by position, but binds do not need to be repeated. So my statement above is incorrect..
You need to bind it once only - but bind by position. And the bind must match how the bind variable is used.
If the bind variable never assigns a value in the code, bind as IN.
If the bind variable assigns a value in the code, bind as OUT.
If the bind variable assigns a value and is used a variable in any other statement in the code, bind as IN OUT.
E.g.

the same code is working in 11i but when its migrated to R12 its giving this error..
The original seeded VO query in 11i contains the same bind variable :1 at three places

the code working in 11i had only one setWhereClauseParam line i.e. setWhereClauseParam(0, classCode);
when i ran the same code in R12 it errd out..
I checked the original R12 query... it has 3 bind variables :1 , :2 and :3 ... so i added 2 more setWhereClauseParam statements
setWhereClauseParam(1, classCode);
setWhereClauseParam(2, partyId);
but still its giving the same error
