Dynamic field in where clause

Hi all,
I have a requirement to dynamically select some data into an internal table using table name,table field as parameter and a select option for that field.I am using field symbols for this.
Now , i am not able to formulate my select query based on this .
It reads like this:
<b>SELECT * INTO table <dyn_table>
FROM (p_table) where p_field in s_range.</b>
where <dyn_table> is a dynamic internal table to be populated with data,
p_table is the parameter which captures the table name dynamically,
p_field is the parameter which captures the table field dynamically,
s_range is the select option.
when i run this query i get a short dump.
The problem lies somewhere in p_field as the field name is not matched properly.

Reading data from BSEG table with Non-key fields in where clause

    I have to read data from BSEG table based on WBS element field (PROJK). As I'm not passing key fields to WHERE clause system couldnt run the select statement. Since BSEG is a cluster table I cant even create secondary index on PROJK field.
   Could you please tell me, how to improve its performance.

By using package and fetch from BSEG table. gathering all other information to a final internal table.This will reduce the hit to database.And also try to put that data in hashed internal table which is it_bseg....then definetly improve the performance.

Dynamic query in where clause while looping in an internal table.

Had a small question : How can i make a dynamic query for the WHERE clause while looping at an internal table.
i want to implement a dynamic where clause query for the below example.
it_cfx_col is an internal table and wa_cfx_col is a work area for it_cfx_col
DATA :

when i compile this i get an error message as { Statement concluding with "...(l_where_clause)" ended unexpectedly}
Even i changed the initilization of the variable l_where_clause2 to [ l_where_clause2 = 'AND SCENARIO = l_scenario.'. ]
added the end of line demarkation ".", but still i got the same error message.
Is it a limtation in ABAP that i cannot write a dynamic query for the where clause while looping at an internal table?

there in no such 1 limitaion in abap for dynamic query .. i think the error meassge is only beacuse of your synatx delcartaion.

afted delclarataion also , in the where statement you should specify both the field name and value bname

Pass values dynamically to the WHERE clause in SFAPI

Hi there
We have a requirement to pass values dynamically (in the run-time of the interface) to the WHERE condition to our SFAPI query.
Eg -
SELECT person, personal_information, address_information, phone_information, email_information, employment_information, job_information, compensation_information, paycompensation_recurring, paycompensation_non_recurring, job_relation, accompanying_dependent,         global_assignment_information, direct_deposit, national_id_card, person_relation
          FROM CompoundEmployee
          WHERE last_modified_on >= to_date('LAST_RUN_DATE') AND
                       last_modified_on <= to_date('CURRENT_RUN_TIME')
LAST_RUN_DATE is stored in a custom entity for which we execute another OData query. The custom entity is updated with the CURRENT_RUN_TIME once the interface has been executed successfully. So the next time the interface is run it picks up the LAST_RUN_DATE from the custom OData entity.
SAP PO has the functionality to run a dynamic query for OData adapters. Refer to Note 2051137 - PI Successfactors adapter : Dynamic odata query and single synchronous sfapi query
Eg - select fields from position (this is what you state in OData query path in the comms channel; this is static); and you have an advanced tab in comms channel where you mention dynamicquery and set it to true (this points to a XSD which has the keyword TOP, SKIP & FILTER in it).
This gets the filter values passed from the BPM from another query (from a OData cust_table).
So the whole query is - select fields from position filter field a = x field b = y etc. Field a field b are fields in position that are you passing values x and y in run time of the interface.
SAP PO also has the advanced tab feature for SFAPI for dynamic query.
Question is -
how to use it?
has anyone implemented this before?
What does XSD will look like?
How do we pass values to the fields to the Where clause for SFAPI.
Any ideas are welcome!

After you have added a new where clause on the detail VO, try re-executing VO's query by DetailVO.executeQuery()
If it doesn't work try re-executing the MasterVO's query after you have added the where clause on the detail

Problem with date fields in where clause after changing driver

Hi,
We have changed the oracle driver we use to version 10
and now we have some trouble with date-fields.
When we run this SQL query from our Java program:
select *
from LA_TRANS
where LA_TRANS.FROM_DATE>='20040101' AND LA_TRANS.FROM_DATE<='20041231'
We get this error code:
ORA-01861: literal does not match format string
The query worked fine whit the previous driver.
Is there some way I can run a SQL query with date fields
as strings in the where clause?

Keeping the argument of standard SQL or not aside, comparing DATE columns to a constant string (which looks like a date in one of the thousands of the formats available, but not in others) is NOT one of the best programming practices and leads to heartburn and runtime errors (as you have seen yourself).
I would rather compare a DATE to a DATE.
Also, constants like that would be another issue to fix in your code:

JSP, DataWebBean: How to dynamically set the where clause of query and display record

I am reposting this question as per suggestions made by Mr. Dwight.
I have used ViewCurrentRecord web bean to display records from EMP table. I have to use the Dept_Id_FK from the current
record of the EMP table to display corresponding records of Dept table. I have a view object called DeptView in my Business
Components which selects all the records from the Dept table.
How do I get the value of Dept_Id_FK and use it to display the required records of the Dept table?
I tried to declare a variable and get the value of Dept_Id_FK but it did not work. My code is as follows:

First of all, Thank you very much for making use of the new topic format. It is very much appreciated.
As for your question, I think there are several different ways to accomplish what I think you want to do.
1. Create a view object that includes both Emp and Dept entities and join them there. In this case, your query would look something like this:
Select e.empno,e.name,...,d.dname,d.loc from emp e, dept d
where e.deptno = d.deptno
You should be able to create a JSP off of this view object that contains both the employee and department information. In this case, BC4J takes care of the foreign key to primary key coordination.
2. In order to set a dynamic where clause for a view, you need to do the following in your usebean tag:
rsn.initialize(application,session, request,response,out,"DeptView");
rsn.getRowSet().getViewObject().setWhereClause("deptno=" | | m_DeptId);
rsn.getRowSet().getViewObject().executeQuery();
rsn.getRowSet().first();
You will need to do this in a separate usebean tag from the EmpView, since the usebean can only initialize one view object.
In other words, you would have your ViewCurrentRecord bean tag for the EmpView, then a separate one for the DeptView where you use the above code to set the where clause to display just the information for the department you want.
Another option, but one I'm not sure would work as well, is to create a master-detail JSP to do this for you. Usually a master-detail is a one-to-many (one department to many employees). Your request appears to be the reverse, but might still be doable using the same mechanism.
You set up relationships between views in your BC4J project using View Links. If you used the BC4J project wizard and created default views, some of these links may have been created for you. They are created when BC4J detects a foreign key to primary key relationship in the database.
You can create your own View Links using the View Link wizard. Select your BC4J project node and choose Create View Link... from the context menu. You will be asked to select a source view (Emp), and a target view (Dept), then select the attribute in each view that related the two of them (deptno).
Next, you need to reflect this new relationship setting in your application module. Select your app module and choose Edit from the context menu. On the data model page, select the EmpView node in the Selected list. Now select the DeptView node in the available list and shuttle it over. You should see DeptView1 via yourlink appear indented under the EmpView node. Save and rebuild your BC4J project to reflect the changes.
In your JSP project, you can now have the wizard create a master-detail form for you based on DeptView1.

Dynamically changing the WHERE clause in detail VO in Master Detail

Hi, I want to develop a search functionality, results will be in a table, which will have an inline table displaying the details per row found.
I have a MD defined trough viewlink. I do change the master VO at runtime (set the entire SQL), based on the criteria entered by the user.
Is there a way to change the VO at the detail end of the link at runtime - that is what I haven't been able to do.
I have read that the ADF framework creates internal VO for each master row, whenever accessed trough accessor (which is not I am trying to do). I haven't been able to find a way to get a hold of the REAL VO at the detail end and have its WHERE clause changed.
Changes to the "VO instance in AM" (same one used as a definition in the detail end in the ViewLink def) does not seem to reflect the detail VO.
I have a MasterView, DetailView, MasterDetailLink (MasterView->DetailView).
MasterDetailLink is used to create a table with inline detail table. At runtime:
1.get MasterView (from AM), change query trough setQuesry() - works.
2.get DetailView (from AM), change query trough addWhereClause() - does not work (no exceptions) - the results I am getting DO NOT reflect the conditions of the where clause, I mean the clause have not been addedd.
I 've looked at the logs (debug enabled) and it seems to me that there no "activities" related to the detail VO, even after the where clause of the VO from step 2 is changed.
Looks like there is a separate VO which I would like to get a hold of :)

After you have added a new where clause on the detail VO, try re-executing VO's query by DetailVO.executeQuery()
If it doesn't work try re-executing the MasterVO's query after you have added the where clause on the detail

Dynamically set ViewObject where clause dynamically from Java bean

I have a requirement to display all of the records from a table when the JSP is first brought up, so my View Object looks like this:
"select emp_name from emp"
Then the users wants to ability to pass paramters to that View Object to refine the list so from by Java class I tried to do this:
ViewObject vo = cpd.findViewObject("EmpViewObject");
vo.setWhereClause("empName = :1");
vo.setWhereClauseParam(1,varEmpName);
vo.executeQuery();
But I am getting JBO errors and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone offer a hint as to how I can do this?

this is exactly how the code is done -
1. emp_name in the View Object
2. emp_name in the where clause
The two are identical. I have tried many variations of this - any time I set the where clause from my bean I get an error.
When I take the SQL stmnt and run it in TOAD it returns expected rows when I run it in the SQL worksheet in JDev it gives an invalid Identifier - but if I hard code the where clause in the View Object it returns the same results as TOAD.

Dynamic number of where clause in a cursor

i have a code in which i must open a cursor:
open cur for select field1,field2 from table1 where filed1 in (value1,value2,value3,...,valueN);
value1,...valueN are varchar2 (example 'NN','MM'...etc), and N can be up to 30.
"value1,value2,value3,...,valueN" is the result of an elaboration (tokenizer) on an input parameter of the procedure. This input parameter is a varchar2 that i put in the code as follow:
open cur for select field1,field2 from table1 where filed1 in (listValuesIn);
How could i write code to change cursor dinamically in function of number of token?

Region Source - Dynamic Where Clause

I cannot find anyway to call a function to dynamically generate a where clause for a SQL Query for the region source. For a given set of html text input types. The where clause builds is build based on the populated values of the textfields, if they are null then it excludes it from the where clause.
For example:
Select a,b,c,d,e,f
from tablename
where function_build_where(&CUSTOMER_NAME., &POSTCODE., &FNAME.)
I keep on getting an invalid relational operator.
If I execute the function directly it returns the correct statement that I want.

Losing my marbles !
I am really stuck here. It makes sense but I cannot get this to work. I have written a very basic example. I keep getting this error message:

Seems like apex wraps a begin end.
Here is the code:

Is there a way to simply just call a pl/sql function or sp?
e.g. Region Source = GetPBData()
Using dynamic PL/SQL opens up another can of worms as one cannot pre-format any fields, does this mean one has to use the API to control the length of columns etc.

How to set dynamic where clause in ADF?

I have a View object called BillInfoVO. This has
all the information about who created the request, the time , status etc.,
I need to display this VO in a jsp. But before I display, i need to fileter this
VO results with different where clauses according to the role of the user.
For example, if the role is admin, then
where clause should be 'status = 'Completed, and created by = 'Current user'
If the role is requestor, then
the where clause should be
sales manager id = 'Current user' and
Status != Complete etc.,
Could any one please let me know how I can
dynamically set the where clause to filter the appropirate
result row set in the jsp?

You'll create a service method in your AM that will use the setWhereClause method of a viewobject.
Then you'll expose it as a client method.
Then you'll drag it from your data-control onto a button in your JSF page that will call your page for the query.

How to dynamically update columns in a where clause to a SQL query in OSB?

Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement where in we need to dynamically update a where clause to a SQL query in OSB(11.1.1.6.0).
For example:
If the JCA sql string is "select * from emp where emp_id = 100 and emp_status ='Permanent'" now i want to change this where clause and the new query has to be like "select * from emp where emp_name like 'S%' and emp_dept like 'IT' ". basically we need to change the where clause dynamically.
We can also use "fn-bea:execute-sql()" in a xquery but I don't want to use this function as creates a new connection.
I have done some home work and found out --> as per the DOC "http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/dev.1111/e15866/jca.htm#OSBDV943" section: "25.5.2 JCA Transport Configuration for Proxy and Business Services", when a business service is created by using JCA, we can see Interaction Spec Properties under JCA Transport Tab. This will have a property "SqlString' and we can over ride it. But I am unable to figure out how to over ride the value. I have tried by using Transport Headers activity but no luck. Please guide me how to achieve this?

I solved my problem.
In my header renderer, I simply added a line to set the text to the object value "label.setText( (String) value );" (where label is an instance of a JLabel.

How to add a dynamic where clause for a sql based VO with group by query?

Hi,
Here is my case, I have a sql query based VO with the query like "select status, count(*) StatusCount from my_table group by status". Now I used the following java code trying to dynamically add the where clause to my VO to filter the rows based the type attribute in my DB table.
vo.setWhereClause("type='MyType1' ");
vo.executeQuery();
Then I got the sql syntax error. Looks like the ADF has added the where clause to the end of my sql so my sql becomes "select status, count(*) StatusCount from my_table group by status where type='MyType1' ". But what I expected was the correct syntax "select status, count(*) StatusCount from my_table where type='MyType1' group by status".
Does anyone know if this is an ADF bug? Or is there any other way to achieve my goal?

Hi,
When you use setWhereClause on the VO, it is applied on top of the VO query. I.e, assume your VO has the following query.
select empno, ename from empNow, if you apply the where clause programatically, only the two attributes that you are using in the select statement could be used. I.e
select * from (select empno, ename from emp) where ename='KING' - VALID
select * from (select empno, ename from emp) where deptno=10 - INVALID (because the inner query - the one you've defined as query for your vo does not have deptno attribute selected)If you would need to set a dynamic where clause, you need to make them available in your select statement / use bind variables.

Dynamically setting where clause parameter before the page load

I do have the following requirement.
I am working on jsf page in ADF10.1.3.3. I have a View Object which displays the results on the screen. Can someone provide me some example where I can dynamically set the where clause parameter to my Query in VO before the Page Load happens(By Overriding the Prepare Model) and display results on screen.

Here in the page there is no action as such.
On the Page load we need to directly set the Where Clause on the VO.
