Dynamic Picture Displaying in the Group Footer Section

Hi all,
I am building a sales quotation layout for SBO in crystal 2008.
The layout has only one group. The first line in each group in considered to be a slaes tree father.
For every group i need to display the picture of the "father" in the group footer (one picture for every group).
I get up to the stage when for each line in the detailes section i have a picture, but for all the lines other then the "father" line the picture is supressed.
My problem is moving the displayed fahter picture from the detailes section to the group footer section. Every time i copy the picture field to the group footer nothing is displayed.
Any idea?

I have a Crystal Report that reads a customer file grouped by custid. In the group footer section I need to place the value of the category field from each customer record in a seperate field on the report to match the section text label.The output of the report would look something like this for each customer id (1 page per cusomter id)....
Customer Table Example:Custid Category Section
101 C 1101 B 3101 D 6101 A 2 230 B 2230 D 3 230 E 1115 A 5115 C 6

How would I create a field that could diplay the category for each section in the groupfootersection of the report?I realize this could be done in the detail secion of the report for each record, but I do not have the optionto use the detail band. It has to be done in the groupfootersection so that the fields can be placed in variousplaces depending on customers preference.

I have joined these table by the key 'PERNR'( like A->B and A->C)
Groped by the same key 'PERNR'
My result rows in the report:

But in the report format is like this in the Group Footer row:
PERNR: 10001                     WERKS:1001
SUBTY: 02                          AMNT :2000 (Current date)
                                            AMNT :1000 (Previous record)
I created the format with "Previous" function
but in the report it is giving the '2000' instead of '1000' in the AMT field
Please help me, can i use the for loop in the report? or any sugessions?

Is there a limit to characters in the Header/Footer section of a region?

I have a js scripts that I placed in the Header/Footer Section of a particalur reason.
It is quiet a lengthly script but when I click apply changes I get the following APEX error message.
ORA-20001: Error in DML: p_rowid=641043905163928761, p_alt_rowid=ID, p_rowid2=, p_alt_rowid2=. ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column
Is this message cause by a limit on the number of characters and if so could there not be a limit on the number of characters allowed in the input box with a counter so that the user is aware that there is a limit.

Yes, there is a limit. May I ask why you want to put the script into the region footer or
header? I put the long code into a file on the file system and then reference it from the
page.

There are some recovery programs out there if you google them - many with free trials. I haven't tried them so I have no opinion.Read any professional tech and user reviews you can find before you try one. I have read here in the past that some have worked for people who have posted here.
To help in the future, have you considered using Jump Desktop - Remote Desktop? I know it won't solve the problem you're dealing with now (unless notes were taken on your computer.) It's in the app store. It's the #1 paid app in the business category and the reviews are great. It allows you to see anything that's on your computer on your ipad. If you take your notes on your ipad then you might want to email them to yourself, put them on Word in your computer, for example, and then if you need them in class, you remotely connect your ipad to your computer and you will see your notes. This way you won't have to rely so much on the cloud. The explanation would be too long here, but you might want to take a look at it. You can use the free trial on jumpdesk.com and then if it works for you, buy it in the app store.
Meanwhile, it's hours since you sent this post. Hopefully others who can help solve your problem who are on this forum now can help you. I hope you get your notes back. Don't give up too quickly.

How to display or suppress a field in the group footer conditionally

     I am working with crystal report XI R2
     My requirement is that suppress the filed on group footer if it is duplicating .Also display only once for the first record in each page if it runs in to more than one page .
For example suppose my report is to display all the students name in a college on department basis.
Then do the grouping on department ,then display the names like

Computer                             Ram
                                                Ravi
                                                Seetha
Electronics                          Anvar
                                              Deepak

Page 2

Inorder to suppress the duplcated department name ,i am taking the count of the student names for each department and if the   count is more than 1 then suppressing it.
    But i am not able to display it conditionall on each page for the first record ,if the repor is running in different pages..
   Please let me know if you require more information regarding teh same.

Right click the department name column and go to format field and select supress if duplicate...this will remove duplicates
to get it displayed in each page
create a formula say F1 and place the column inside the formula
and conditionally supress for each page

In order to achieve your requirement, we can use two tables to separately display summary data and detail data. Then use a list to combine the two tables based on the Name group. For more details, please see:
Drag a table to design surface, add a group grouped by Food.
Right-click the first column to insert a column with Inside Group-Right, then insert the corresponding values.
Drag another table to design surface, insert the corresponding values.
Drag a list to design surface with current dataset, then drag the two tables in the list.
Add a group grouped by Name in the list.

I just downloaded LR and uploaded pictures to edit. The pictures display on the bottom carousel, but when I click on a specific image I want to edit, it won't display on the main screen. Why is it doing that?

Can anyone advise on how to make the picture you select display on the main screen (Loupe view)?

Problems with recordset paging and dynamic menu displaying all the options

Hi hope someone can help on this - I've posted the code on the FoEd Backend Blight - with no takers/success yet -
I've created a jobs page using DWCS3 which has a dynamic drop down menu filtering the 'countries' that jobs are located in. When I introduce a recordset page only those countries associated with the jobs on that particular page are shown in the dynamic menu above, not all of the countries listed in the database. When I get to the second page of results - again - only those jobs' countries are shown in the menu (and not the previous pages/next pages as well).
I'd clearly like a user to be able to select from the menu of countries available for all the jobs in the database, and not just those on the page. Any ideas?
On a similar strain - my country menu/filter is wrapped up in a form above the list of jobs. On loading the page, only the search and menus appear. No jobs are shown until I hit submit. Is there a way to have all the jobs display on first load, and then for the search/menu filter to work on the displayed jobs. I've tried altering the variables on the search to 1 from -1, and other options but I can't seem to get a page of content on first load.
I'd really appreciate any pointers on the above, as this would help solve the final stage of my project. The full post and code can be seen on the friendsofed website under backend blight.

I'm still stuck on getting the page to load with some actual content, however. I'm just getting the search box and country filter displaying on first load.
Pages 584-6 explain why you get nothing when a page first loads. Dreamweaver sets the default value to -1. The problem with trying to change the default value even to an empty string or % is that Dreamweaver's security function, GetSQLValueString() changes an empty string to NULL and wraps % in quotes, so neither will work.
One way to display all records when the page first loads is to create another recordset that selects all records. Wrap the code in a conditional statement that checks whether the $_GET array contains any values:
if (!$_GET) {
// recordset to retrieve all records here
This means that you need two repeat regions to display the results. Wrap both of them in conditional statements:
if (isset($fullRecordsetName)) {
// display the full recordset
} elseif (isset($searchResultsRecordsetName)) {
// display the search results
You also need to wrap the mysql_free_result() statements in conditional statements at the end of the page:
if (isset($fullRecordsetName)) mysql_free_result($fullRecordsetName);
if (isset($searchResultsRecordsetName)) mysql_free_result($searchResultsRecordsetName);
Another way to do it is to use just one recordset, but split the SQL query into two sections:
$query_RecordsetName = "SELECT * FROM myTable";

GetSQLValueString("%" . $colname_RecordsetName . "%", "text"));
This uses the combined concatenation operator to add the WHERE clause to the query only if $_GET['searchTerm'] has been set. Notice that you need a space before the "WHERE".

I'm looking for an app that will allow a presenter to control what's on display for several other ipad users in a room. I'd like to be able to do presentations over the ipad, but i want the presenter to control the screens so folks in the meetings don't get distracted by playing with the ipad. i'd like to avoid using a web meeting service and do this without having to connect to any kind of network since i'll often be doing this outside of my office.

One single Group Footer missing

I have inherited a Crystal Report (v.10). When I print preview it the Group Footer for just one group is missing. It is grouped on product, thus product 1 doesn't have a footer, but products 2, 3,... do have their footers. I've looked all over the place for what is causing this and can't figure it out. Since I wasn't the creator of the report (she is no longer available), I can't figure out how she did this.
How can I get product 1's footer to appear?

Probably conditional suppressing. Open "format section" dialog for this group footer and check for a formula in "Suppress" button. If it is empty, also check for suppressing of individual field objects in the group footer section.

Group footer. Want to print one section in the body of report

I am working on an invoice.
It has two groups:
Detail line
Invoice number
In crystal the invoice number group header is ran than the detail line group fires.
After all the detail lines are printed for that invoice number the group footer for the invoice prints.
I have multiple sections in my invoice number group footer.
All these sections except the first has the property u201CPrint at Bottom of Pageu201D selected.
The First group footer section prints as it should directly below the detail section.
The second section print at the bottom of the page as expected.
The third group footer does not print till the end of the entire report. So if I have multiple invoices printing at one time I see an invoice subtotal for each invoice but the u201CTotal Dueu201D does not show until the last page. It is also always 0.00.
any help wouldbe appriciated.

I'm guessing here, but it sounds like the data record is not "available" (past EOF?) when the footer is being printed. Try putting the db field into a shared variable in the detail section (basic syntax):
whileprintingrecords
shared total as number
total = {SOShipHeader.CuryBalDue}
formula = ""
Then use the shared variable in the footer:
whileprintingrecords
shared total as number
formula = total

I need a section to display at the bottom of the first page of my report

My report displays a number of records, but at the bottom of the first page of the report, I need a section (a remittance slip) that would only appear at the bottom of the first page.
I've tried using a page footer with conditional suppression. This is fine for the first page, but in subsequent pages, the footer space is reserved, so the records in my details section only go 2/3's of the page. "Reserve minimum page footer" seems pretty useless.
I've looked into using a details section that uses "Print at bottom of page". But since my report contains groupings, this messes up my report structure and leaves a lot of extra space as well.
I can't guarantee that a group footer section will always be on the first page, since it is found at the end of each group.
Any suggestions? Anything I'm missing?

i would use the method that Abhilash suggested.

if you
1) create a new formula for every section that counts the height of the section...
whileprintingrecords;
numbervar lines:= lines + .2
//use the above for a details section that is .2 inches in height
whileprintingrecords;
numbervar lines:= lines + 2.2
//use the above for a group header section that is 2.2 inches in height
2) do the above for every section (yes it's painful but it works) and you'll see how the sections add to the running total
3) create a new details section that is conditionally suppressed if the page is not equal to 1 and if the running total count is not within a certain height range
4) make this new details section the height that you want the remittance slip and also have a New Page After forced for the section conditional on it being page 1
the above takes a bit of finicky work but if it's worth getting rid of the blank space...

How to display the results of the grouping horizontally

I still cannot understand what am I doing wrong when trying to display the results of the grouping horizontally. Here is the original thread: How to group report vertically
In the Section expert, for Detail section, I check the box Format with Multiple columns. Under the Layout tab, I check Format groups with multiple columns and set the width of the column at 3.3 in. This should give me 3 columns for Landscape orientation.
Now if I select Printing direction Down then Across, I just have the regular vertical grouping.
If I check Across then Down, then I do get 3 columns, but all the records in the Detail section are also spread across first instead of staying in the column.
There should be something else that I should do to get the display like this:
Header1    Header2    Header3
record11   record21   record31
record12   record22   record32
record13   record23   record33
etc.            etc.            etc.

I'm not at all sure columns are gonna help here, as there is no way that I am aware of to tell Crystal to start a new column.
The only way that I can think of to achieve what you are trying to accomplish is to do something like this:
In your group header's Suppress formula, keep track of the first (/ next) three groups that you want to print, using something like (basic syntax):
global grouplist(3) as string
global groupcount as number
groupcount = groupcount + 1
grouplist(groupcount) = {db.GroupingField}
' The NextIsNull below implies End-of-Data...
if groupcount = 3 or NextIsNull({db.GroupField}) then
formula = false ' print the group header
else
formula = true ' suppress the group header
end if
Then, create three formula fields to get each value in grouplist(). The group header format will then show the three formula fields. Underneath these three formula fields, add subreports, which will show the details for one specific group. The subreports should have a parameter for which group's details to show. Use the three formula fields as the link to the three subreports.
In the group footer, clear out the grouplist() array, and set groupcount to zero.
This report will take a while to run, because having three subreports next to each other makes it difficult for Crystal to determine page formatting.
