Dynamic JDBC Credentials and using ADF Region ERROR

I used solution by Steve Muench, Dynamic JDBC Credentials (for ADF Faces Rich Client)
(129. 11g Dynamic JDBC Credentials for Model 1, Struts, Trinidad, and ADF Faces Rich Client 11.1.1.0.0 06-AUG-2008), but it works not correct in case of using ADF Dynamic Region (or simply ADF Region).
I have added in ViewControllerJSFRichFaces a page (main.jspx) including ADF Dynamic Region consisting of 2 simple tasks flows. Action of the Login button, if login and password are correct, redirect to main.jspx
There are to cases.
1) Login and password are correct:
In this case all work fine.
2) Login and password are not correct:
It does not work. redirect to login.jspx does not occur as it is expected, but the following page (main.jspx) is loaded, herewith thrown exception: oracle.jbo.DMLException: JBO-26061: Error while opening JDBC connection.

Hi,
hard to say from your description if this is a bug or an implementation problem. Note that errors that occur in regions are not handled by the exception handler of the the parent page and require special handling within the region. In other words, if the problem is in the region then it needs to be handled in here. I think the right strategy here is to not show the region until a valid connection exist. Is the login performed from the parent page ?

ADF/TopLink/Struts - start browsing from a given row position?

I created a web-application to browse a table called "Project" in the database using ADF/TopLink/Struts, following some online tutorials, and successfully deployed it to Tomcat 5.5.7. Now I am able to browse the table using the following link,

Since there are too many data records in the table, I am wondering if there is a way to jump to a given row using something like,
http://localhost:8080/Project/browseProject.do?Project_ID_No=123
where "Project_ID_No" is the primary key of table "Project".
I understand that we can retrieve the value of the "Project_ID_No" parameter from the HttpServletRequest. The question is how to obtain the currency corresponding to the value of "Project_ID_No" and perform some necessary steps afterwards?

Sorry I haven't been able to reply, got dragged into an emergency project.
I have it all working very well, and I really should have figured the commit thing out myself, I was just thinking about it way too hard.
I do have one more quick question about something I was able to do, I want to have a link next to each row that will delete that row. In order to do that I need to:
1) Set the current row
2) Delete the row
3) Commit
I was able to do this declarative without having to create any extra data actions by passing three event params on a link such as the following

(selectRow is bound to the setCurrentRowWithKey method)
Should I be using the event system in this way?
This seems to work very well, but i'm concerned about the ordering of the events, if they get executed in the wrong order, the wrong row will be deleted or the transaction won't get committed. Will the ADF controller always execute events in the order they appear on the query string?

Creating a Function logic for dynamically created XML buttons

Hi!
It's me...... again! Now I've dynamically created some buttons using XML. They're spread around the stage and I've modified a tooltip script to give each button a tooltip on Mouse_Over. But to se the logic and make it work using AS3 is hard (for me). I want a function that accept to parameters: Tooltip text and Object to tooltip.
In my code I get this error msg when initiating the function on dynamically created buttons:
1118: Implicit coercion of a value with static type flash.display:Sprite to a possibly unrelated type flash.display:MovieClip.
I beleive there are more than one thing here needing a fix.
Can someone have a look and give me a pointer?

I totally agree with what Ned says and suggests. Nevertheless, I would like to support your thinking process.
From the way you wrote the tooltip functionality it is apparent to me that you conceptualize as a programmer. Again, as Ned said, nested functions are evil. BUT, in a way, what classes accomplish is encapsulation/nesting of properties and functions under the same umbrella. It actually feels that what timeline does in general is nesting named functions within a single function we have no access to.
How you wrote the code is actually a blueprint for a class that could handle the functionality. You, perhaps, are very ready to start coding with classes - not on the timeline.
With that said, for the sake of theory, here is how your functionality can be rewritten on timeline:

How to create a dynamic GUI at the Runtime using ADF or JSF in JDeveloper 11g.
What I am trying to build is to allow the user to map one column to another at the run time.
Say the column A has rows 1 to 10, and column B has rows 1 to 15.
1. Allow the user to map rows of the two tables
2. An dhte rows of the two columns are dynamically generated at the run time.

I can guess that it is not
exactly possible since I looked at the forums and documantation etc. but

ADF Faces Application without using JDeveloper/TopLink/BC4J

I want to make a small database driven application using ADF Faces Components without any hlp of JDeveloper, BC4J or Toplink.
I could not see any document/ sample application which demonstrates creating J2EE application with ADF Faces by avoiding OC4J, JDeveloper IDE & TOPLINK.

How to generate dynamic table in JSPX page?(Use ADF to realize OAF)

My requirment is to realized the a EBS standard OAF page(PDH module) function by ADF technique. The key point is to realize Dynamic Search Layout and Dynamic Result Table Layout by ADF.
If anyone who is skill at OAF and ADF, proficient in PDH module is prefered, your question will be highly appreciated.

Drawing Dynamic Buttons Using API

I am trying to dynamcally create several buttons using the
Flash API. The following code hnts at the concept. But I can't sem
to dynamically name and create the MovieClip since the
attachMovieClip() method does not seem to exist in Actionscript 3.

and then use a for loop to fill up the array with the names
of buttons, from button1 through buttonN, where N equals the number
of buttons. But then how do I convert the names of the buttons
insid the Array into MovieClip objects so that I can then use the
API to take advantage of the drawRoundRect() method, define tweens,
filters and / or turn on the hand cursor for that object, etc.
I understand how to get the name of the item into an array
using for loops, but how do I define that resulting name as a
MovieClip Object. Does the resulting Array element automatically
become an object that inherits all the properties and methods of
MoviClip Objects?

Do some processing before loading jsf fragment created using adf task flow

Hi,
I am working on JDev11g.
I want to create SelectItems of SelectOneChoice dynamically before loading jsf fragment created using adf task flow
I tried by implementing RegionController class's method RefreshRegion in my backing bean of jsf page fragement to do some processing before loading region
But it seems to be not feasible approach because it is getting called every time any component on fragement gets partially submitted.
Is there any method which is called only first time when region is loaded ?
Or any other solution to achieve this.

don't think so. You would need a phase listener, but I don't see how you get it in. Wha about using a dynamic region and then use the method that is called from the dynamic region first time it is rendered?

Displaying BLOB image by using ADF Faces

Hi all,
I digged the forum but couldn't find any satisfied answer about displaying BLOB images by using ADF Faces.
I have insterted POJO object to Oracle database but couldn't find any way to display blob (in java byte [] ) data in POJO.
I have read the POJO object from database which contains two field; one of them is id field and other is BLOB data which holds GIF or JPG image and I want to display this image another page which contains also other fields / records ...

1. Make the img tag url refer to a servlet (instead of a static image file)
2. Embed the image into the tag as inline base64 encoded data.
2a. Use an <Object> tag with inline data.
1. Looks a bit complex for a simple problem.
2 and 2a don't work with some browsers.
- And I've not yet figured out how to hook into the ADF Faces table-rendering logic to get it to add my image column. My table binds to a collection DataControl, [which in turn retrieves from a findAllItems call on a session facade, which uses my domain model, and wraps up access to a TopLink pesistence layer]. The framework just ignores my byte[] attribute when creating the jsf table from the DataControl. All string, int etc. attributes get represented correctly in the jsf table output.

How can I control the enable/disable of command buttons in ADF JSF

I have been having a great deal of trouble trying to work out how to control the command button such that if the rowset is null then the button is disabled. The trick is that the rowset is not defined by the view where the command button is located. The rowset is defined by a view which has a "view" command button which displays the specific row selected, then this view has a command button that will display the detail rowset of the selected master row, but if there are no detail records I want the button to be disabled. How can I do this in ADF JSF? If I use a backing bean to make the determination prior to the page rendering then how does the backing mean method set the parameter necessary to disable the command button? Any advice or tutorial that I can use is most appreciated. My goal with using ADF JSF effort was to demonstrate that a complex app could be generated with minimum coding, I would like to keep to this concept if possible. Thanks,

Hi Michael,
You can probably set the Enabled property of the command button using an EL that would evaluate and return true or false based on your requirement.

What happens to the rendered animated buttons on sub-menus

I am on a 3GB of memory MacBook Pro using Encore (CS3). Here is a description of how I have produced a working DVD...so far 3 out of 5 DVDs I have tried to render have worked.
ANYWAY...seems that Encore implodes when I try to render the same project more than one at a time. Encore chokes and I am back in the MAC OS.
HERE is my main question...every time it blows it seems to blow away the RENDERED ANIMATED BUTTONS on the secondary menu. SO each time I try this again I have to re-render the buttons taking about 1.5 hours. Why do I have to re-render...why aren't the rendered 2nd level menus SAVED.
To make it clear...after I rendered the menus...previewed...saw the buttons are animated...SAVED...try to write a DVD Disc from the Current Project...succeed...try to burn another DVD...it aborts (why...I have no idea)...I empty trash...bring up Encore again...try to preview the secondary menu...NO ANIMATION there so have to rerender and start all over.
I have been reading about compatibility of DVD disc, computer players and DVD players...what a PILE...without all the techies our there we can't make a dependable environment to create, burn and play DVDs...these companies should be ashamed...all they are doing is producing a whole bunch of frustrated producers (or lack of producing producers).
Can anyone shed a light on my problem!?!?

A couple of questions, mainly to make sure that I understand what is happening.
1.) There are two files (an audio and a MOV), that show in the Orphanage, when you Check Project. Do they appear there BEFORE you Check Project, or only AFTER?
2.) Do they appear BEFORE in your Project Panel, or only AFTER you Check Project?
3.) Since they are Orphans, I assume that you do not intend to use them in this Project - right? Were they ever in the Project (Imported as Assets, or Timelines)?
4.) Was this Project started fresh, or did you modify an existing Project, to create it, say using a Save_As, etc.?
5.) If they were not Imported into this Project, were they Imported into another Project, that is/was being worked on coincidental to this one?
6.) Can you find these files on your system? Where are they located?
If 1.) is After and 2.) is After, then your Project might be corrupt. The Assets/Timelines/etc. are linked to the Project by XML. This can become corrupt for many reasons, most are often unknown - power dip, or hardware issue on Save, etc..
Two ways to check this theory, is to start the Project from scratch, and see what happens. Another is to use a freeware program, XML Wrench, and run the Project file through it. Aside from pointing out broken links, and other problems, it should also allow you to search for these files names in the body. Save a copy of the Project file, so you will have it untouched, and then remove any lines, that reference these files. Save_As (new Project name) and open that in Encore. Being on MAC, doesnt every data file have a finder file, associated with it? Could this finder file be cross-linked, in some way, to your real Assets?
It could be that there is a hardware issue, and this causes the links to the Rendered files to become broken, and also to link to files, that should not be included. Any other strange things with your system lately? I do not know the MAC folder/file structure, but can you do the equivalent of Windows Check Disk? If so, set it to find lost clusters, or whatever MAC calls them.
Also, being on PC, I do not know what utilities might be available for your OS, or what other programs might be causing a problem. On PCs, other DVD burning software, especially if their packet-writing applet is installed, can cause havoc with Encore and are discouraged. Anything else installed, and/or running, that you can think of?
Sorry to play twenty questions, but Id like to be as clear, as I can, on exactly what is happening, before I make too many more guesses.
