Dynamic width in JTable

Hi!. Im a newbie and i have a problem with adjusting the widths of the columns in a JTable. How can they be resized in runtime? I tried getTableHeader.setResizingAllowed(true);
but it doesnt work properly.
Whats wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Dr. Is it possible to achieve a "more dynamic behaviour"?. The parameters min,max and pref in
tc.setMinWidth(min);
tc.setMaxWidth(max);
tc.setPreferredWidth(pref);
are fixed. Besides this way, I wonder if JTable can automatically resize the columns widths with the data length at run time, and you dont have to worry at all about widths.I supposed that AUTO_RESIZE_ALL_COLUMNS would be the key but it doesnt work so.
Thanks again

  • Create images with dynamic width from 3 images each (left/center/right-part)

    Hello,
    i want to employ a script to create images of dynamic width for me. The whole process shall base on different sized sets of images, which contain a left-image, a right-image and a center-image. The desired width for the different cases shall be reached by duplicating the center-image between the two outer images and placing those images next to each other until the image extends to desired width.
    The layers importet into Photoshop shall be importet as smart-layers (which i already solved).
    Has anyone done something similar already and could give me some useful hints on that issue ?
    I have come up to this until now:

    var height = prompt("Please insert height for the output here!", ""); //askes for desired height

    I adapted a Script somewhat, so you may give this a test.
    But it uses the open file so you would have to adapt it further.

  • [Spry Effects] Dynamic Width

    Hi,
    I have a question about the blind Effect, the effect works
    superb but there is one little problem, the div block i use it on
    is of an dynamic width, this means if the site is resized to an
    smaller resolution the div moves with it. If i use the blind effect
    on the div i can't resize it any more, the width has a fixed length
    an will go out of the screen if the browser is resized.
    Does anybody has an idea if this is changeable, or is it not
    possible?
    Regards.

    Hi UserXyX,
    I'm guessing you can get around the problem by using an
    onPostEffect observer and resetting the width of the element you
    were blinding to "auto" or "". (example: ele.style.width = "auto";)
    You can see an example that uses an effects observer here:

  • How can I set column width in JTable?

    How can I set column width in JTable?

    Also, read the JTable API before posting questions. You will find a link to the Swing tutorial on "How to Use Tables", which contains an example of doing exactly this.

  • [Feature request] Runtime width of JTable columns based on attribute settings

    I'm wondering if it's possible to let 'JClient' dynamically resize the columns in a JTable. Eg: I have set the width of some attribute of some ViewObject to 3. But when I run the application all columns are equally sized. I tried changing the JTable's property autoResizeMode (figuring it might override settings by JClient), but that doesn't seem to have any effect.
    Also, 'grabbing' a column from the table through some manual coding and setting the width of that column doesn't seem to work either.
    I've posted something regarding JTable Re: for specifically RIZWAN from PAkistan or anyone, but I'm curious to know if this 'Specialised editor for Grid Control (JTable)' that Grant Ronald spoke of, will include some sort of applicable functionality.
    It's clear that we need some better (that is, 'any' ;)) way of manipulating columns in a JClient table.
    Any comments?
    Thanks.
    Arno

    We are currently looking into that.
    The column width should not be controlled from the model, it is a setting on JTable, We are considering providing a JClient control (JUTable ??), which is a JTable in a scrollpane and give you more power over column width, column headers etc....
    We are currently evaluating that.
    It would mean that you've got a table control with properties allowing you to set these things on the control itself.
    Currently you have to set the hints on the TableColumn.
    Here is an example :
    tableDeptView1.setModel(JUTableBinding.createAttributeListBinding(panelBinding, tableDeptView1, "DeptView1", null, "DeptView1Iter", new String[] {"Deptno", "Dname", "Loc"}));
    tableDeptView1.getColumn("Deptno").setMaxWidth(75);
    tableDeptView1.getColumn("Loc").setPreferredWidth(200);
    tableDeptView1.getColumn("Loc").setMinWidth(100);
    tableDeptView1.getColumn("Loc").setMaxWidth(450);

  • Setting dynamic widths for textfields in as3?

    I have 3 textfields. they're in a sprite container. 1. date 2. pipe_mc movieclip 3. title field. I need to set it so that the textfield/mc/textfield;s x property changes dynamically when a shorter or longer date gets added into the field, via XML.
    Here is the code:
    addChild(dateline);
    dateline.addChild(date_txt);
    dateline.addChild(title_txt);
    dateline.addChild(pipe_mc);
    date_txt.x = 3;
    var spacer:Number = 10;
    if (date_txt.textWidth >= 90) {
    pipe_mc.x = date_txt.x + date_txt.width + 18;
    title_txt.x = pipe_mc.x + pipe_mc.width + spacer;
    else if (date_txt.textWidth <= 90) {
    pipe_mc.x = date_txt.x + date_txt.width - 18;
    title_txt.x = pipe_mc.x + pipe_mc.width + spacer;
    pipe_mc.visible = true;
    Any help or suggestions are welcome
    Thanks

    Do you have the textfield set up to be autoSized?  Is there a reason for having three textfields separate rather than combining the text into one textfield with sufficient spacing between the entries?

  • Column width in JTables.Help needed!!!!

    Hi
    I am trying to print out a JTable and have had a few problems along the way but have managed to solve them all so far apart from this one. When the JTable is shown on screen it doesn't make the columns wide enough . I ahev managed to find some code from these forums but it doesnt resize correctly if the Column headings contain more text than any of the data (If you know what i mean). Below is the code i am using
    public void sizeAllColumnsToFitData (JTable table)  {
        for (int col = 0; col < table.getColumnCount (); col++)  {
          TableColumn curColumn = table.getColumn (table.getColumnName (col));
          if (curColumn == null)
            continue; // not a valid column skip
    //  Translate to the model
          int modelColumn = curColumn.getModelIndex ();
    //  Loop for all rows in this column looking for the widest piece of data
          int maxColumnWidth = 0;
          for (int row = 0; row < table.getRowCount(); row++)  {
            TableCellRenderer curCellRenderer = table.getCellRenderer (row, modelColumn);
            Object value = table.getValueAt (row, modelColumn);
            Component curRenderComponent = curCellRenderer.getTableCellRendererComponent(table, value, true, true, row, modelColumn);
            Dimension cellDimension = curRenderComponent.getPreferredSize ();
            if (cellDimension.width > maxColumnWidth)
              maxColumnWidth = cellDimension.width;
    //  Set the column width to fit the maximum
          Dimension cellSpacing = table.getIntercellSpacing ();
          curColumn.setPreferredWidth (maxColumnWidth + (cellSpacing != null ? cellSpacing.width : 1));
      }I pass my table into here and it works fine apart from in doesnt take into consideration the size of the headings. Please Help ME!!!!

  • Branding Image - Dynamic Width?

    Hi there
    Is it possible to dynamically set the width of the branding image?
    I have designed an image which looks nice on my screen, but that's clearly too big for the user's machine. I can set the width lower in the theme editor, but then when you use a bigger screen size / resolution, doesn't look the same, so would be nice if I could cater for multiple resolutions?
    Can you set the width to a percentage?
    Cheers,

    Hi Andrew ,
    You can set the width of the table from the masthead and keep it fix according to you need .
    Refer to this webblog for the same.

  • Dynamically Updating a JTable

    I am developing an EPOS system using java, that uses a JTable to display the recipt, before it is printed.
    I have a class for the recipt data, stored in a vector which works and using observers fires events to the gui when things are added etc. My problem comes when i try to dynamically change the tables content, my idea was to create a new table, fill it with the new data, set the scroll pane around the new table and call revalidate to show the new table.
    This is possible but seems far too much work to just update a table! I would also assume the amount of extra garbage collection would require extra processing that seems pointless.
    Is there another way i could do it? Ideally i just want to refresh the content in the table for each update sent by the observable.
    Thanks

    Make your TableModel observe your observable and update it's contents. Remember to fire the appropriate event after the update.

  • MSS: Team Explorer dynamic width

    Hi all,
    I am facing following problem: we have exchange the Team Viewer by the Team Explorer (EP 6.0). It is working quite fine. The only thing is the Team Explorer is not expanded to its full width when the user calls it for the first time.
    I have found out that the detailed navigation panel width can be set globally to a fixed value which we don't need. Is there a way to "dynamically" set the navigation panel width for just one page (the one containing the Team Explorer) in the portal and not all of them?
    Any answers would be greatly appreciated!
    Kind regards,
    Helga
    Edited by: Helga Hoos on Jan 15, 2009 9:44 AM

    Hi Daniel,
    the Team Explorer doesn't work with ESS-iViews, cause these iViews don't react of the raised events. The other way around, you can use MSS-iViews in ESS. Just hide the Team Explorer.

  • Resize column width for JTable without column headers?

    Hi,
    I find that for me to resize columns of a JTable by using
    mouse dragging, I MUST have column headers and then drag
    column headers to resize them. Is my understanding correct?
    Actually, I need to have a table without header columns.
    How can I use mouse to resize column width by dragging?
    The background for this request is that I am putting a
    complex table as another table's column header and I hope to
    be able to resizing the complex table by mouse dragging.
    Thanks very much,
    David

    Hi,
    I think you have mistake there. Try
    <style type="text/css">
    table.apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td {
    white-space:nowrap !important;
    td[headers="DESCR"] {
    width:300px !important;
    max-width:300px !important;
    #apexir_DESCR {
    width:10px;
    max-width:300px !important;
    </style>And you can try add
    table.apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA {
    width: 100% !important;
    table-layout: fixed !important;
    }Regards,

  • Dynamic use of JTable

    I have a JTable which holds a number of columns (these are fix). Now my
    problem is that this table can change at any time by an event in the table.
    I create my rows and data by a table model.
    Those anyone have a idea how I can make the JTable dynamic. So I can easly change the number of rows by an event on the table itself or by a event on the Frame?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I can't see your problem - if you use a subclass of AbstractTableModel for your table model, which has for example n entries (perhaps hold in a Vector of Vector like DefaultTableModel does it) and you have added for example x rows, simply fireTableRowsInserted(n,n+x-1) of the table model and JTable will update its display correctly. If you delete for example row y simply fireTableRowsDeleted(y,y) - you just have to fire the correct notification message and inform the listeners of the table model about that, what you have done, and the display will keep updated correctly. If you change the whole data vector but keep the structure of the table, simply fireTableDataChanged() - if the data vector and the structure of the table changes, fireTableStructureChanged() - you see, just inform the TableModelListeners about that, what you have done in the table model, and the table will be updated correctly as so the JTable itself is a TableModelListener to its model.
    Perhaps you can be more specific about what your problem is

  • Set column width in JTable

    I have two columns in a JTable and I am trying to set the column width for the first.
    I am trying to this by
    getDataTbl().getColumnModel().getColumn(0).setHeaderValue("Index");

    int width = ((String)getDataTbl().getColumnModel().getColumn(0).getHeaderValue()).length();
    getDataTbl().getColumnModel().getColumn(0).setPreferredWidth(width);
    but it doesn't reset the width. I want the first column width to be smaller than the second which should be much larger width.
    Any suggessions to this?
