Dynamically change flex variables with JSON

I am trying to take different variables from within each other, and use that to dynamically change variables within flex, and I am not sure how to write it. For example, the JSON code would be something like:
     "content" : [
                              "panels" : [
                                                       "height" : "200",
                                                       "width" : "300"
Now I am trying to take the height and width from that, into flex, and change the panels' dimensions. any ideas?

This is actually concerning my other thread . But in answer, no, same resolv.conf used in both cases. As I said there, I simply export a different value in http_proxy (no reconnection of any sort) and speed suddenly jumps.

Just about all of those things I've mentioned above as tried, except the .pac file. The problem with that is that it doesn't work generally for all graphical applications, just ones that understand it (like firefox, I believe chromium as well) while things like dropbox would not work.
Proxydriver seems very much gnome/kde linked, which isn't of much help when I'm running awesomewm.
Thanks for your answers, really, but still looking for something else. Latest idea I have is to replace dropboxd, firefox, and all the other executables with my own script which first sets up http_proxy and then runs the original executable. So something like this:-

Any disadvantages to this method? Then I can just forget about using tinyproxy (wouldn't mind that at all, its been a pain sometimes, just dying in the middle of a big transfer). I could possibly also do away with the netcfg hook and just implement the checking logic (based on the IP range) in the bash script itself.

You cant. you need to invoke it using Dts.Variables collection itself.

I think it would be useful to have this feature. So one can create aliases for all the long SSIS variables in the beginning of the code itself. Otherwise, one has to put it all around.

[SOLVED] Change environment variables with Shell scripts

How can I change the "BROWSER" environment variable with a shell script; so I can change it on the fly?

If you just want to do it for BROWSER so that you can change your default web browser on the fly, you could set BROWSER to e.g. ~/bin/mybrowser and create a symlink to the browser you want at ~/bin/mybrowser. Then you could change the symlink at will.

Dynamically population of variables with use of variants in I Broadcasting

Hi all,
In broadcasting I have to include few reports.
Suppose one report is having variable screen where 5 mandatory variable are there. Here one variable is 0calday suppose which has to be filled dynamically.
Is it possible by using variant.
If yes please send step by step process and if not what could be the other method?
Am using BW 3.5.

Hi Uday,
To achieve this,you can create one more variant with the specific variable values (which ever you want) and pass it during broadcasting.
The step by step process for Broadcasting with variant is...
With 7.x Tools:
1.Open a report(workbook) in a tool(Eg:BEx Analyzer) and invoke Broadcaster(Tools->BEx Broadcaster...)
2.Click "Create New Setting"
3.Distribution Type "Broadacast to Email" and Output Format as "MS Excel Workbook" (This depends on your own need)
4.Update the "Recipient" and "Text" tab details
5.Click "Workbook Precalculation" tab and Select the variant for the Variable Assignment
6.Select the Precalculcation Server
7.Save the Setting and Click "Execute"
This will send a report mail to the mentioned receipient based on the selected variant through Precalculation Server

Change php variable with javascript??

Hey Guys
I need to know how can i send the form to a different email address if someone selects an option from the "BSU(area)" on the HTML from.
So basically if the are on the html form and they select NewCastle from the "BSU(area)" for example i want the script to change the email address to the address assigned to that option.
How can i achieve this? If you guys need to see my PHP script let me know.

Dynamically changing the UI

Hi Everybody,
I have a view (view 1) which is being mapped with another view(view2). When I trigger my firePlug from View 1, the UI element should be a InputField with STRING as Datatype. and Similarly when I load the View2 thru wdinit(), it should dynamically change into InputField with Date...

it is not possible to change the Input field type. But if create a second field in the component controller with the type date and than copy the string with the method new date (year, mm, dd) to the this new field.
You must transfrom the String in 3 int field. (2007-03-20)
year = 2007; mm = 03 ; dd = 20 )
Map this date field to the view2 an you get in this view the Date
Component Controller
Field 1 --> type String
Field 2--> type date
View 1 --> Controller
Field1 is mapped to the controller Field 1
View 2 --> controller
Field 2 is mapped to the controller field 2

How to dynamically change the text of a TextObject with embedded DataField?

I'm trying to dynamically change the text of a TextObject at runtime, by using the .NET library. My problem is that if one or more DatabaseFieldDefinition is embedded inside my text, I'm unable to change the "static text" only, by keeping the field, e.g. I have :
Text1 => "Contact Name: {Contact.Name}"
and I'd like to change it to anything else like:
Text1 => "Nom du Contact: {Contact.Name}"
Half of my TextObject is static text while second part comes from the dataset.
(of course the translation is dynamic - it is called at run-time and the new value to be set depends on the calling application language)
If I simply modify the Text property of my TextObject, the {Contact.Name} embedded field is not evaluated anymore by the Crystal Engine, but considered as a single text.
Using formulas or parameters looks quite difficult, because it means having many ones just for translation needs - I cannot control the way my users will create their reports and "force them" to use complex methods just in order to put a text and a value together...
Anyone knows how to deal with that ?

Only way I can think of doing this:
1) Create a formula (call it lang) and enter the string "Contact Name" in it
2) Place the {Contact.Name} field next to the string
3) So now you have:
ContactName: {Contact.Name}
4) Check what localization you are after. If you need "Nom du Contact", change the lang formula so it shows "Nom du Contact" using the code below:

I realize this may not give you consistent spacing as the translations may have strings of differnt length. Perhaps someone has other idea(s)...

BEx Analyzer: Formula Variable with Replacement path change Month with Day

Hi experts I'm facing this issue in BEx Analyzer.
I need to have some dates in format DD/MM/YYYY in Index Structure, in order to do this I've created a formula variable with replacement path referenced to 0CALDAY characteristic.
The formula works but it behaves in a strange way:
if the day is higher than 12 the displaied result is correct (DD/MM/YYYY)
if the day is lower or equal 12 the displaied result is wrong (MM/DD/YYYY)
I'm on BW 7.01 SP6 and BEx Analyzer 7.10 SP12, excel 2007.
anybody has faced this issue before?
any help will be appreciated

Hi Daniele,
This seems pretty strange. Pls. redo validation with the dump data, as being a flat struture BEx does not apply any logic changes. May be it might have been MM/DD/YYYY format as in workbooks. Else you may change the property of 0calday display as "Text". Business Explorer > Display > KeyMaster Data/Texts > Texts (Plese check this option). If you are using some text table you may maintain the same using BI0/TCALDAY (Similar to BI0/TCALMONTH2). Guess it should be an excel based issue; if not you may try the same in WAD/Report designer to verify the nature of the issue. If you don't face these inconsistencies in WAD/RD then you may change excel formatting options. Lastly, please let us know if the infoobject has some predefined settings in RSA1 > Infoobject > (BEx) Properites.

Date format in Bex Output should be changed while using with Text Variable

I am using a Bex Query where have defined a Text Variable with replacement path. So whatever Date user enters in the selection screen variable (Input Variable) the same date appears in the report description.
For Ex: If user enters 30.04.2012 in Char Variable/Input Variable before executing the report, so once he executes the report the same date appears on report description like "ABC Analysis as on 20120430". Is also changes the report description whenever user changes the date in selection screen variable.
My requirement is......Date format should be come as 30.04.2012 (DD.MM.YYYY) instead of 20120430 (YYYYMMDD) in report description.
Guys could you please help me out to achieve the desired output.

Please check if you have selected Replace with Key in that text variable.
Instead of that select External characteristic value key.
This should help you in giving the desired output.

Displaying dynamically changing image: a problem with JLabel.

Hello! I use NetBeans 5.5 and I develop my GUI with Matisse. I'm rather a beginner in developing GUIs with this editor...
I'd like to display a dynamically changing image. The idea is: GUI shows the image, that is modified as some computations run in a different thread. App will be run on a single machine.
I'm trying to display the image as a label's icon. The problem is that my app's frame can be resized - and when it is, the label also resizes. When the label is resized, the image should also be resized - the image should always be of the same size as the label. The problem? I noticed, that it works only when I make my app's bigger. When I try to lower its dimensions, the label's dimensions remain the same. Why the label don't make its size smaller?
My code works as follows: when app's main frame is resize, the panel (the one, that the label is placed in) is also resized. And, since the label is in the panel, it (should) also be resized. So I wrote all the resize-events handlers (therefore I know that the resize event is sent when my app's frame is resized, and when the panel is resized - but the label is resized only when it grows bigger). In this methods I modify the image displayed in the label (I resize the image).
Or, perhaps, there is some other way to show a (dynamically changing) image with Swing... I chose JLabel, because I didn't want to write my own JComponent. JLabel can display image and that is all I need. The problem is: when the label grows bigger, I create a new, bigger image (icon). Why my label don't get smaller (the resize event isn't even sent)?

There is no component that dynamically resizes an image. You need to create your own. Something like this:

I'm having the same issue. I've been able to work around it by opening the txt file and copying the contents. Then I open a new file in Sublime Text 2, paste the contents and save the new file as "project.json". It seems to work, but it'd been nice if I didn't have to do this everytime I publish a new project.

I dont quite understand your question but if your variable is a reference to an object then you can certainly have a method to alter the object that the reference is pointing to and/or the reference itself..
otherwise your 'function' will have to return the same type as the variable itself in order to do the assignment as you demonstrated, regardless of wether it's C, C# or Java, AFAIK, WIRNM

i want to set a variable with default value and can be changed by the user, so i new a variable with setting : customer exit, single value, optional, ready for input.
in my customer exit code, i set a default value, eg. 20070530
when the variable screen popup, it display the default value 20070530, i changed it to 20070529, but it doesn't work , it still display the data in 20070530, how can i solve this problem?

As mentioned by Anil, you need to restrict your customerr Exit code to I_STEP = 1.

-when the program runs it will ask the user for what they want to set the tic tac toe at between 3 - 5.
