Converting swf file to Gif/Jpeg/Png file
Hi,
I want to save a flash file(swf) in the server as gif/jpeg/png file. Problem is that if on the browser i want to take a snapshot of flash file then how can I convert that SWF file to gif file before sending it to server.I used third party java library "Flagstone Software" the sample code for which is as follows:
File aFile = new File("Flashfile.swf");
byte[] bytes = new byte[(int)aFile.length()];
System.out.println("**Number of bytes in before encoding= "+bytes.length);
try {
FileInputStream imageContents = new FileInputStream(aFile);
imageContents.read(bytes);
imageContents.close();
FSMovieObject fsMov = new FSDefineJPEGImage(26,bytes);
byte[] b = ((FSDefineJPEGImage)fsMov).getImage();
ConstructingGif cGIF = new ConstructingGif(b);
catch (FileNotFoundException e) {
//throw new FileNotFoundException("MovieClip.swf");
catch (IOException e) {
//throw new IOException("MovieClip.swf");
The ConstructingGif class simply writes byte array to disk with file extension as gif or jpeg.
Now when I try to open the generated file through Photo Editor, I am being shown the error message as "Can't determine type".
Is this the problem of encoding...If so then what can be the solution? -
Converting swf to h.264 format?
Has anyone successfully converted a Captivate swf (that contains audio narration, such as text-to-speech) to an H.264 format? I've tried publishing to F4V and then using Adobe Media Encoder to convert to H.264 video, but the voice becomes out of sync with the video. I don't have any audio/video sync issues in the swf at all.
Thanks.
EDIT: actually when I use F4V with Fixed Frame Rate, the audio stays in sync, but gets distorted. Not only is the audio distorted, but the video ends up being paused at various places momentarily. I can see this happen while I am publishing as F4V--the video actually stops running/publishing momentarily (this always happens at the same places in the video). This pause always happens on the first slide as the mouse begins to move, and then happens at the same places in a few other places in the course of the video. These pauses are actually in the finished F4V. I don't think this is a problem of system resources, either.This isn't so much of an answer as it is a question: how did this issue work out for joebor1776?! I asked this like same ? earlier today (about converting swf to h.264) but got no reply while I waited... Mine doesn't have sound but did you have to convert 1st to quicktime and then to the h.264 or did you give up to plot another process?

Hi all
I've made an animation where the user has to draw something,
from there i want the user to save his/her animation to a jpeg
file... Is there a way to do this, I've been looking around php but
haven't found nothing yet...
please helpI'd also suggest Shockwave and Director--Director has the
_stage.image function that lets you manipulate a bitmap that can
include Flash, and I'm sure there are JPEG export Xtras.
I realize that's not suitable for some deployments, nor cheap
unless you have Director already. Good luck! -

How can I convert my logo 300dpi (274 pixels wide) from EPS to Gif format?
I have a logo that needs to be fixed for web purposes. It looks great in print but very poor quality on screen. I need one for my website and HTML email newsletters, along with a high quality GIF 300 DPI (274 pixels wide) for a HTML coded signature. I tried it in Photoshop to save this file as GIF format. But it seems my files is 274 pixel but it is 96 dpi rather than 300dpi. How can I convert it from EPS to 300 DPI (274 pixels wide) GIF file format??
I have an EPS file for it. Can anyone please help me ? Here is the LINKIf your logo is 274 pixel wide at 300DPI it will print .9" wide. DPI is meaningless for the web For displays and displaye drivers do not use the image file dpi setting. Displays are run at one resolution normally their manufactured pixel resolution. Display these days are manufactured with resolution ranging from 96PPI to over 300PPI so your logo will display 2.8" wide on a low 96ppi resolution display and .9" wide on a high 300ppi resolution display. The the difference between Jpeg and Gif is color Jpeg supports 8Bit color so 16M colors but does not support transparency. GIF only supports 256 mapped colors reduced to 255 colors it you want transparent empty pixels. You can also use PGN format which supports transparency and 8 or 16 bit color.

Save swf format to gif format?
Hi, I'm new to Captivate. I've created a swf file in Captivate, but want to save it, or convert it, to .gif format. How can I do this?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,Hi there
Captivate doesn't do this. You will need to use some third party software to make it happen.
I know there are many packages out there in the wild that claim to convert SWF to GIF. I'm sure that each one is different and will probably do the job in different ways with varying results. I'd suggest using Google to locate SWF to GIF conversion and experiment with a few of them to see how well they work.
Cheers... Rick

what is the most efficient way to convert swf to dvd
format? are there more than one way? I'm trying to avoid
degradationI think they mean to convert flash content into a type of
file to use for dvd authoring/burning. "Efficient" is a relative
term when it comes to what you want to do. The best answer
sometimes depends on what is actually in your flash file. If it's
all vector, you have less to worry about when it comes to
generation loss. There are several "swf 2 avi" converters out
there. Flash itself lets you export to avi, but the quality has
never been good. I use GeoVid's Flash to Video Encoder
http://www.geovid.com/Flash_to_Video_Encoder_PRO/
and Flashants SWF2Video
http://www.flashants.com/root/index.shtml
Each performs relatively well. From that, you can use the exported
video and place into whatever dvd burning application you
have. -
How convert Microsoft viso to JPEG Image format
Hi,
Can any one suggest me how to convert Microsoft Visio format to JPEG Image format in java.
Please write me back at [email protected]
Thanks,
MerajI believe that RAW is a generic term to mean image data that has not been processed (sharpened, compressed, saturated, etc.). RAW file formats are proprietary to the manufacturer; Nikon's RAW (NEF) is not in the same structure as Canon's RAW (CR2).

useWhat OS is the database running on? If it is a *nix flavour, you can call out to image magick convert utility (it is pre-installed on most linux variants, and you can compile it from source for other unixes). So you would probably store the blob into a temp file on the database server, call out to the shell to execute convert, and then load a blob from the converted file. See http://imagemagick.org for more information.
If that is not an option, you might be able to use Java Advanced Imaging API from a Java stored proc to convert between those image formats. See http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jai/downloads/download-1_1_2.html

Converting SWF to MP4 format - Captivate v6
Hi,
When I create a course in MP4 format with Captivate v6, what actually happens is that it publishes the course in SWF format, and it then converts this into MP4 format.
However, I would like to use this converter to convert standalone SWFs into MP4 format, mainly because I've lost the original Captivate file. Is this possible?Cheers for that. It looks the ticket, although my boss might balk at the idea of paying another £60 since he forks out quite a lot for Captivate. I'm guessing that it isn't possible to use the converter in Captivate to convert SWFs without having the original Captivate file, so I'll hunt around for some free converters.
Thanks. -
Hi,
I like to convert JPEG/GIF or any type of image into BASE64 format and Viceversa. Can somebody provide me the java code for doing this.
Cheers,
Siva Maranani.Rather than use an undocumented API, I would suggest a 3rd party library for Base64 encoding such as the one that I wrote:
http://ostermiller.org/utils/Base64.html
It even has several convenience methods for encoding files:
static void encode(File fIn)
Encode this file in Base64.
static void encode(File fIn, boolean lineBreaks)
Encode this file in Base64.
static void encode(File fIn, File fOut)
Encode this file in Base64.
static void encode(File fIn, File fOut, boolean lineBreaks)
Encode this file in Base64. -
I have a new Sony alpha 77ii. My PS version is 5.0. When I open the files with Bridge they are .ARW files. How do I convert them to JPEG's or something I can view and edit?
You can use Adobe's free DNG converter to convert proprietary raws to the universal DNG raw format. Here are the links:
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 9.0
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 9.0
Converting to JPEG will be an extra step afterwards.
