Dynamically Hiding Column in a Table View in VC Model

How to dynamacally hide the columns in a table view in a VC model. Through the expression in Control Property, Form element/field or table view as a whole can be made hidden, however, the individual column can not seem to be hidden.
I am using VC server version 700.8.0.1.
Any help would be much appreciated.

In this scenario, if the source is SAP BI, you can use the webapi commands. If not, you would have to have 2 separate tables in different layers and you can show and hide those layers or UI elements...

This can definately be done....you will have to declare and iterator and in the GET_COLUMN_DEFINITIONS, declare the column name....

Hide a column in one table view but show it in another

I need to hide a column in one tables view but show it in another table view in the same report. Is this possible?
Any help on this is appreciated.

Hi VNC,
If you're crafty with javascript, you could probably write a script that would set the CSS property DISPLAY to NONE to hide the column in the table view you didn't want but leave it there in the view you did want.

No data for Parent-child hierarchy column in Pivot table view

Hi all,
I used OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 Version.
I drag one Parent-child hierarchy column and one measure and show result with a pivot table view.
But when I click "+" icon to show detail level data,
It messaged that: "*the layout of this view combined with the data,selections,drills,or prompt values chosen resulted in no data*."
But it can show every-level data when I used table view.
It was so strange..
Did anybody meet this before?

Hi,
Yes, I have the same problem with pivot table for hierarchy dimension.
If you use a normal table (not pivot) it seem to work. Unfortunatley with restrictions as normal table view have.
Same problem still exist in 11.1.1.6.5
I have logged a SR to Oracle about this.

Hiding columns in a table?

I wonder if any of you know of an easy way to hide columns in a table in InDesign CS5? To further explain, i have two documents currently, one is a price guide and the other is bascially identical but without the prices, lets call that the product guide. It seems daft to have to update the two (especialy when i actually have four as i have each in two languages!) every time there is a slight change to the product listing. So, i was thinking if i have the price guide, make a PDF of that, hide the column with the prices in, and then hey presto, I've got the product guide. Seems simple but i can't seem ot find a simple way of hiding the column.
Is there such an option? Or any suggestions as to how best do it? I don't want to delete it as i will need to update this column occasionally, and i really want to avoid having lots of different InDesign documents as i have this situation for 5 different country's guides, each with a local language and english language version, making 20 in total if i keep them separate (10 if i don't, which is enough imho) - mental i know! But thats the way work want it

* If you experiment with some table cell settings, you can probably find a design that works when the columns are exposed, and when they're set to their minimum width - 3pt.
Setting the column width to its minimum may not conceal cell content if the cell side margins are so small as to allow content to touch the cell sides, so you may need to pay attention to the margin values. If the column has vertical rulings, you may also need to pay attention to their stroke width and color.
* Conditional text won't hide a column, but if the column is the furthest left or right, you might achieve what you want by applying a condition to the text in each cell of the column and hiding or showing it as needed. The width will be preserved, but no text will appear when hidden.
* Similar to conditionalizing the cell content, you can define a paragraph style for only the cells in the column, and redefine the character color to None or Paper to hide the content, and redefining the color to Black to show it.
* It may be possible to script a solution. I'm not familiar enough with available scripts. Inqire on the scripting forum.

Filtering feature for a column in a table view

Hi Radhika,
I don't understand exactly why you're looking for a specific procedure to enable the filtering feature. Column filtering should be available for all tables in CRM2007 by default without further action. There are only few cases where filtering doesn't work.
You can open the dropdown for sorting and filtering in the WebClient UI by just clicking the column header.
Are you referring to a SAP delivered view or a custom built one. in the latter case make sure you use the "thtmlb:cellerator" tag instead of the "thtmlb:tableView" one to be on the safe side.

Problem in the Table view of VC model

Hi all,
We have a created a table view using the BI query as source.
the table view has say 4 fields (Serial NO., Plant key, Material and Quantity) initially before submitting the parameters, once we enter some parameters and press submit button some extra fields are getting added at the end of the existing fields.
i.e the final result is Serial NO., Plant key, Material and Quantity, Plant, Material, Quantity. last 3 fields are undesired.
This is happening only when we select few fields in the define / Test Query setting (we are doing this to avoid unwanted fields while exporting data to excel).
Is there a way to avoid this addition of extra fields in the table view.
any help is highly appreciated.

Are you getting these extra columns in 'Table' or while executing 'Define / Test Query'?
If you are getting this in table then dont select anything while dragging the table from query. (When the systems ask to select the fields) Select the fields after creating the table & then see what is happening.

Hiding a Measure Column in Pivot Table view in OBI 11.1.1.6.7

Measure column hide property is not working with OBI 11.1.1.6.7
I have checked the flag available in column property to hide the measure column . Any idea

Measure Columns can't be hidden like an attribute. How ever you can use custom style sheet for Value and Header Properties to not show the measure.
for the "Custom CSS Style Options (HTML Only)" under measure properties of the column set "Use Custom CSS Style" value to 'display:none'.

Hiding columns in pivot table OBIEE 11g

Hi experts,
I am trying to create a pivot table with individual values in columns but I also need to display a grand total as values but also as percentage and as cumulative percentage.
I duplicated the measure once in the measure area, and selected display data as percentage of column, and another time using display cumulative and percentage of column.
The result is fine, but all the elements are displayed as column for the percentage and for the cumulative. Or, I only need the Grand Total Percentage and Cumulative, but I don't need all the columns for Percentage and cumulative.
I have tried to find out a way to customize the XML but nothing good.
Is there a way to display only the grand total for percentage and cumulative without having to display all the individual columns?
Any help highly appreciated.

If I get your question correctly.. You are trying to present the grand total towards the end of the Pivot and OBIEE is displaying the totals of all the sections and then the Grand Total.
Try not to use the grand total of the sections but create a new pivot view and just display the grand total in that view.
So you will have your normal sections and then another pivot view just for the grand total.
As far as I know, there is no option to hide the individual section totals.

Is it possible to merge columns in table based on some set of condition.

The merge is simple if you do not think about it as in word:))
The merge can be done using scripting: just concatenate the values of the fields into one variable, fill in the value to the first column, change its width (to the width of the previous 4 cols) and hide te remaining/ blank cols.

How to display records dynamically by columns of the table?

i'm trying to figure out quite a long time now. is it possible to populate html table with records via columns? (because most of us are familiar with rows up to the last record) i do have a pseudocode below:
