Dynamically populated selectonechoice without persisting the selection

Using jsf/adf bc. I have a situation in which I want a selectonechoice to be populated via a view object (ie table driven). However, when the user selects a value from the selectonechoice, I don't need to persist this value to any other view object. When I try to drag/drop a selectonechoice, the list binding dialog insists on me supplying both the base data source (to be saved back to) and the list data source. I don't have a base data source that I need this value to be saved back to. I just want to show a list of values based on a read only view object. How can I do this? I looked in to using a navigation list, but from what I read the first row of the view object will always be displayed by default in the selectonechoice, which i don't want. Thanks.

thanks shay. just to reiterate, i want the value <No Selection> to display by default in the selectonechoice when the page first renders. setting the unselectedLabel property to this value on this component doesn't result in <No Selection> being selected by default. while my issue isn't sorting the list as is covered in the link you gave me, it sounds like you're suggesting that i'll need to write some code so that <No Selection> is added to my list of results at the first row position, since the navigation list will display the value in the first row by default? If you have any suggestions on how to do that please share. Thanks

  • Is there a way to automatically resize the text box to fit the text inside, without using the selection tool to resize the corners in Illustrator and Photoshop?

    I'm wondering if there is a way where I can quickly resize a text box to fit exactly around the text inside, so pretty much the smallest the text box can go without being too small to fit the text? I know you can do this manually with the selection tool, but is there a button/command that automatically does this in one go?
    Thanks

    Try this script. Save the page as .jsx the the "Presets>Scripts" AI folder. When you restart AI it will appear in the "Scripts" menu. Select the text block and run the script.

    The short answer is No. But I see that Ray has given you an option.

  • Is it possible to edit (levels, curves, exposure, saturation, etc.) a selected area of a photo (using quick selection, magnetic lasso, etc.) without moving the selected section to another document and editing it there?

    I'm trying to edit a portion of a photo of a lake so that the rays of sunlight (the lines that run across the sky) are more prominent, without darkening the rest of the photo. I've sucessfully selected, removed, and edited the sky in the photo (the part that I want to enhance the sun rays on), but I can't figure out how to get that piece (currently it's own document) back onto the original jpeg document. I took the selection from the Background copy if that is of any help to figuring this out.

    Another way in photoshop is to make a Group above the photo. add a layer mask using the selection and put the adjustment layers in the group

  • How to dynamic construct checkbox  and get the selected status

    Hello. I'm new to the JSF development. I need to dynamically generate the table data based on the selection of database table name . The first column is the checkbox which will allow user to select one or more rows for modification, deletion, etc. Here is the partial code that i wrote to add checkbox to the first column of the table in the backing bean. I would like to generate the same checkbox binding as we did from Design Palette.
    <webuijsf:checkbox binding="#{UpdateTable.checkbox}" id="checkbox" selected="#{UpdateTable.selectedRow}"/>
    Checkbox checkbox = new Checkbox();
    checkbox.setValueBinding("name", getApplication().createValueBinding("#{currentRow.value['ROWID_VALUE']}"));
    checkbox.setValueBinding("selected", getApplication().createValueBinding("#{UpdateTable.selectedRow}"));
    tableColumn1.getChildren().add(checkbox);
    Once user checked the box, the backing bean should be able to catch the event.
    * Records whether or not the current row should be marked as selected,
    * based on the state of the checkbox.
    public void setSelectedRow(boolean b) {
    System.out.print("click");
    TableRowDataProvider rowdp = (TableRowDataProvider) getBean("currentRow");
    RowKey rowKey = rowdp.getTableRow();
    if (checkbox.isChecked()) {
    selectedRows.add(rowKey);
    } else {
    selectedRows.remove(rowKey);
    But it's not working as I thought. I'm not sure if I can binding selected with backing bean attribute like I did above. Please help!!!

  • Dynamically populating values in 2 dependent select in jsp

    hello users
    i am confronted with a probelm.
    i am having 2 select fields that are dependant on each other. i.e. select one and in the other select, values are automatically populated..

  • How to skip the Selection screen completely for certain users?

    Hi All,
       I want to skip the entire selection screen based on sy-uname. I check if the sy-uname has sufficient authorization and based on that..I want to skip the entire selection screen. How do I do that?

    Hi Rachna,
    use
    <b>SUBMIT program
                with sy-uname = 'TEST'
                 and  return.</b>
    If u specify and return the control will come back and execute the next line in the report.
    It is giving the output directly without showing the selection screen.
    If u r pressing back also it is not showing the selction screen.
    This will work

  • Dynamic populating the items in the select boxes

    Hi,
    I need three select boxes on a webpage in such a way that the options in select box 2 should be populated only after selecting some item in "select box 1" and the options in the "select box 3" should be displayed by selecting the options in "the select box2". The data is being retrived from the database. I know that this functionality can be acheived through the "javascript". I am fine until getting the data from the database but not sure how to get it work using javascript.
    I would appreciate if someone can post any snippet of code or give any suggesstions or pointer on how to proceed....

    probably should ask on a javascript forum then. This is for java.

  • Populating other fields in a form based on the selection in a combobox field

    We have done a form(masterdetail) in which we have a combobox field.When we make a selection in the field we require some two other fields to be automatically populated retrieving data from a table(which has the details required) based on the selection made.For eg. Selecting emp id(combobox) should populate empname and salary automatically in the form.Is this possible?If so how can this be done?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Jayanthi.S

    This is what I did following Michael's suggestion and it works fine :-
    1> Created a dynamic LOV named LOV_EMPNO as:-
    select empno,empno from scott.emp
    2> Started creating a form named FORM024_EMP2 on scott.emp.
    3> On reaching the Formatting and Validation section, I chose the EMPNO field in the left frame.
    In the right frame for EMPNO, I changed the item-type to Combobox and selected the lov LOV_EMPNO.
    Then I went to the Javascript handler section for EMPNO, chose the Javascript event onChange and in the
    adjacent Textarea, I wrote:-
    popdetails(this);
    We will create the javascript function popdetails() in the Additional pl/sql section.
    4> Click next and goto the Additional PL/SQL section and I wrote the following code in
    "...after displaying the page" area.
    (You can write this either in
    before displaying the page,
    before displaying the form,
    after displaying the form,
    after displaying the page).
    declare
    type tvcarr is table of varchar2(2000) index by binary_integer;
    l_empno_arr tvcarr;
    l_ename_arr tvcarr;
    l_sal_arr tvcarr;
    begin
    select empno,ename,sal
    bulk collect into
    l_empno_arr,l_ename_arr,l_sal_arr
    from scott.emp;
    htp.p('
    <script>
    var empdets = new Array();
    empdets[0] = new Array("","");
    for i in 1..l_empno_arr.count
    loop
    htp.p('empdets['||l_empno_arr(i)||'] = new Array("'||l_ename_arr(i)||'","'||l_sal_arr(i)||'");');
    end loop;
    htp.p('
    function popdetails(ele)
    var val = new Number();
    var thisform = ele.form;
    val = parseInt(ele.value);
    if (isNaN(val))
    val = 0;
    for (var i = 0; i < thisform.length; i++){
    if (thisform.name == "FORM024_EMP2.DEFAULT.ENAME.01")
    thisform[i].value = empdets[val][0];
    else if(thisform[i].name == "FORM024_EMP2.DEFAULT.SAL.01")
    thisform[i].value = empdets[val][1];
    htp.p('</script>');
    end;

  • Populating cascading listboxes without processing the query in HIR 8.3

    I have 2 listboxes. First listbox populated using Group Number. Second Listbox should contain all account numbers corresponding to the Group Number selected in the first listbox, I need to do this without processing the query. I tried this way :
    1.     Created a query section “Query” and in that created a limit Group Number. Through this limit I am populating the first lisbox.
    2.     Created another query section “Query2”. In that created Group Number as first limit and Account Numbers as another listbox.
    3.     After selecting the Group Number from listbox1, I am passing this value to the first limit of “Query2”.
    4.     I am doing RefreshAvailableValues on the second limit of “Query2”. Now I am expecting the records corresponding the selected account number in the second limit of “Query2”. But I’m getting all the available values.
    What is wrong in the above or any better solution is available please suggest.
    Edited by: user13386590 on Jul 12, 2010 9:32 PM

    Why do you want to do this without processing a query.
    Each time you execute the script RefreshAvailableValues you are essentially executing a query...look at the Query log.
    As for the issue in # 4 you will want to change the properties on the Data Model. From menu select
    DataModel
    - Data Model Options
    check the Filter/Limit tab and try out different options
    --- below is from 11.1.1.1 help
    Data Model Options: Filters
    Use the Filters tab to specify filter browse level preferences and to select global filter options.
    When you use Show Values to set filters, you may sometimes need to sift through a lot of data to find the particular values you need. Filter preferences enable you to dictate the way existing filters reduce the values available through the Show Values command.
    For example, you want to retrieve customer information only from selected cities in Ohio. However, the database table of customer addresses is very large. Because Interactive Reporting applies a default filter preference, once you place the initial filter on State, the Show Values set returned for City is automatically narrowed to those cities located in Ohio. This saves you from returning thousands of customers, states, and from all sales regions.
    You can adjust this preference so that the initial filter selection has no effect on the potential values returned for the second filter (all cities are returned regardless of state).
    Filter Options
    Show Minimum Value Set—Displays only values that are applicable given all existing filters. This preference takes into account filters on all tables and related through all joins in the data model (which could be potentially a very large and long running query).
    Show Values Within Topic—Displays values applicable given existing filters in the same topic. This preference does not take into account filters associated by joins in the data model.
    Show All Values—Displays all values associated with an item, regardless of any established filters.
    Tip:
    When setting these preferences for metatopics, be sure to display the data model in Original view.
    Global Filter Options (Designer only)
    Show Values—Globally restricts use of the Show Values command in the Filter dialog box, which is used to retrieve values from the server.
    Custom Values—Globally restricts use of the Custom Values command in the Filter dialog box, which is used to access a custom values list saved with the Interactive Reporting document file or in a flat file.
    Custom SQL—Enables the user to code a filter directly using SQL.
    Note:
    The Topic Priority dialog box is displayed only if you first select join in the data model.
    Note:
    Since most data models do not have the same set of topics, you cannot save changes to the topic priority as default user preferences. (For more information on default user preferences, see Saving Data Model Options as User Preferences.)Often times if I am trying to load controls for parameter screen I will have a seperate query and results section for that purpose. Then I use the Filter/Limit on the Results section to control the cascade feature you are trying to accomplish. In your case your results would contain the distinct list of Group Number and Account Number.

    In mail how do we stop the e-mail's showing as read when you select them without opening the full e-mail? I want to click on a mail and read this in the preview pane only without showing it as read.

    Not possible. In order to read an email in the preview pane requires opening the message. You can mark a message that you've read as unread after reading it.
