Dynamically show/hide pages in a workset for special users at runtime

Hi all,
I want to create a workset that contains pages for different countries. The portal users should only be able to see the countries where they do business. I also would like masterdata from R/3 to drive the display of content on the portal.
- Is there a way how I could dynamically show/hide certain pages of the workset for the specific users?
- Would this showing/hiding of pages affect the workset for all users or only the instance for the specific user?
- Would there be a difference when I want to dynamically show/hide iviews in a page instead of showing/hiding pages in a workset?

It talks to exactly what you're trying to do. I'd imagine you could extend this simplistic example to have the service pull the users country from his/her master record in R/3 and set their filtering expression accordingly.

Let´s assume you have a transactional info cube which contains SD Data from the source system.
If you want to show additional data, let´s say the attributes of the sold materials which can be read in the table MARA of the source system (provided you use R/3, etc.)
and you only want to show this data for a small amount of users, which need to see it, then i wonder how to do this.
am i right, that i can use the exit functions to init key figures, i.e. i could write some code which connects to the source system over RFC, downloads the data at runtime and presents it at the users excel sheet????
moreover, is it necessary to extend the existing cube, just to achieve this aim?

Hello Gideon,
there's no need to program anything. You can display any attribute in planning layouts. In your case you would extract the master data from material from SAP R/3 (MARA) into BW. The setup the layout to show the required attribute(s) in the layout in BPS.
If the attribute is relevant only for a specific user group, just give them access to this "special" layout (create a planning folder or web interface for this group).

Dynamically show/hide Excel WPA

I am working on a web page, where list of links will be given. On user-click on a link either it will show target web page in a iframe or it will show a excel sheet in excel wpa. On the basis of link clicked, I need to hide/show iframe and Excel WPA. I can
control iframe using javascript but i don't know how to work with Excel WPA. At a time either iframe or Excel wpa will be shown on the screen but not both.

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to dynamically show/hide Excel WPA.
If the Excel WPA is Excel Web Access Web Part, you need to get the ID of the Web part and hide the web part.
When you click the link, you need to get the parameter form the URL and then display the web part.

Show / Hide Pages

I have a 5 page form which has Page 1 + 5 open when the user opens the form, depending on the drop down list that the user selects on Page 1 will then determine whether Page 2, 3 or 4 is opened, this works fine. The user then fills in for example Page 2 and then saves the form, when you reopen the form Page 2 is hidden from view so is there any way of making sure that the page remains visible once the user has selected the Page from the drop down list.

If you go to the File > Form Properties > Default tab, check that the
"Preserve script changes" is set to automatic:

That should work, unless there is script firing in the form that hides
page 2 as the form opens.

How to dynamically populate a manager name and level for any user who login

Hi All,
I need some help in doing this in my DB:
Table 1 is the the manager hierarchy {which basically shows the structure of every employee's org).
Table 2 is a list of all people manager ( all these usernames will also be in table 1). What i need to find is using the username from Table 2, the highest level that username exists in the manager hierarchy.
For ex:
Table 1: { What this shows is Sam is CEO and Jeff reports to him. So for Sam, he will exist on all 15 levels and Jeff will have Sam has his top level manager and then Jeff will repeat for all remaining levels till 15.
Manager Level 0 Level 1 Level 2 Level 3...Level15
Sam                       Sam     Sam     Sam         Sam
Sam                        Jeff     Jeff        Jeff          Jeff
Now in Table 2:
User Name   Manager Level/Name
Sam               Manager Level 0 Sam

As you see, for each user name in Table i want to populate their high level from the manager hierarchy {their record in manager hierarchy).

In my previous endeavours to solve this business requirement where multiple users will be able to use the Adobe acrobat feature to convert SAP pages inside SAP to PDF, I was told that it is not possible to do this for multiple users at the same time. However I have found an article according to which it says it is possible. Could you check it once and let me know if this article can be used for implementing the requirement stated above as this link clearly indicates that Adobe Acrobat is supported on Citrix.

1. What is the Acrobat feature that you mean? There's nothing specific to SAP included with Acrobat.
2. Yes, some Terminal Server configurations appear supported (check carefully). All users of the terminal server will need a license, so far as I know - total licenses = total individual people using.

Forms page opens very slowly for single user

Hi ,
We have a user in our EBS environment names OPERATIONS under which all scheduled custom concurrent programs run.
The problem is it takes a long time just to open the forms page when I login as operations user , but when i login via other users such as sysadmin, the forms page opens very quickly.
Any particular reason for it ?

Hi,
One reason which i can see is:
Since you said all the concurrent programs are running under this user name, I presume MOAC. is set for all the Org's for this user and as a result when the form is opened it has to fetch data for all the Org's for this users, whereas for other users it might be fetching data only few Org's.
How to confirm this:
1. Please enable the FND:Debug log for this users and check the data for MOAC assignment.
2. Repeat the same steps for a different user and compare the Org's initialized.

How can I set the default home page in Firefox 4 for all users that login to a PC on a Win 7 PC?

I work at a community college in upstate NY.
We use Firefox as the default browser at our institution and we have always set the default homepage to be our homepage for all users that login to the PC. We had a procedure to to that that worked with Windows XP and FF 3 or earlier
We would do the following:
1. go to: c:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla\FireFox\Profiles\<profile_name>\prefs.js
2. Add the line: user_pref (“browser.startup.homepage”,”http://www.genesee.edu”);
3. Copy the Folder
C:\Documents & Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla
To
C:\Documents & Settings\Default User\Application Data\Mozilla
4. Restart the computer
We're going to Win 7 and Firefox 4 and things seem to be different in terms of files and file structure. Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

Dynamically show/hide columns for DelimitedData output

My users want to see only dynamic sets of data from the same report query.
For example, if the query returns:
Date, Widget1Count, Widget2Count, ..., WidgetZCount
User1 wants to see Date and counts for widgets 1,2, 5, and 10
User2 wants to see Date and counts for widgets 2, 3, 4, 5, 10-20.
Uset3 wants to see Date and widget 99 count.
I don't want to write a custom report for every single user nor do I want to create Z! number of queries to satisfy every possible request combination.
I wonder, is there a way to change "Exclude from XML Output" property for a particular query field(s) from a report AfterPForm or BeforeReport trigger?

I had the same problem, but I saw the Metalink document: 340793.1, which gave the solution I needed.
In my case, I needed to limit the number of columns being outputted in a DELIMITEDDATA format based on a user parameter.
I ended up with the following code in my After PForm trigger, which did the job.

Remove show/hide group tree at inforview for cystal report

Hi there!
I have 2 copies of Inforview install on 2 computers.
The first one, is my local comp. The display of cyrstal report at dynamic viewer is ok.
However on my second comp. The viewer will default to show the group tree stucture. I have tried to set the configuration at web.config. But it is still displaying the group tree structure.
Anyone could assist me?

I have tried disabling the option "Show Preview Panel" (according to a screenshot I found, this option replaced the old "Create Group Tree" option) in Report Options, and that effectively eliminates the content of the group tree, however, the group tree panel still comes up and shows empty until it is hidden using the toolbar.
This is really annoying and I can't find any solution for it on the web. Any ideas anyone?

Dynamically Show/Hide Columns

I am working on Crystal report 12.1
I have a table in SQL server with 24 fields.
Every 2nd field is bit field. kind of Visible True/False tag for previous column.
e.g. Name, Name_SH, Fund, Fund_SH -
Column names
Name, Fund stores value.
Name_SH stores, True/False for Name
Fund_SH stores, True/False for Fund
So, now, when I display report in Crystal report, user will select some fields from that 12 fields.
That will be processed throug Stored proc in SQL and feeds data in same table.
Now, in Report, How can I implement this situation, of display only columns with _SH = True.
and also, user need proper format, means, there should be equal space between all columns.
Please help me to solve this.

UNION to a single column with a secondary column for Type (field name) and remove invisible ones from the UNION process.
Then, use a CrossTab to show the final result.

How to make Adobe acrobat feature to convert SAP Pages to PDF available for multiple users connected to the same server

We have installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro- English,Francais,Deutsch version 10.1.9 in our test environment and tried testing it for converting SAP pages into PDF with a few pilot users. In doing so we faced a challenge, where only one user at a time can use Adobe Acrobat PRO to convert SAP pages in to PDF.As long as the first user who is connected to Adobe Acrobat Pro via SAP isn’t logged off, other users connected to the same server are not being able to get the “Save As” dialog box to save the PDF in their preferred location.
This is a business requirement and we need an urgent solution for the same. Can anyone help us in telling us if this is possible and if yes the how to go about?

Blank pages loaded in safari for managed users

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion from Lion on my new macbook air. My kids account is a managed account. Safari worked fine under lion with their account. Now under mountain lion most pages like yahoo.com load up blank. Other pages that do work are exceedingly slow. If I make my kids account able to administer the computer then safari works fine. Any ideas? I already tried to allow their account to run full finder and turned off any content filtering but neither setting had any effect. I also trashed the safari preferences. That did not effect this problem.

Instead of using the on-screen keyboard you can get external keyboards that connect to the iPad via a Bluetooth connection (so they aren't connected via a cable). If you plan on doing a lot of typingon the iPad then one might be useful, as they are easier for typing for extended periods, plus it means that no screen space is taken up by the on-screen keyboard.
