E-commerce for Mobile Interface

Hi
This is my first attempt at have an existing shopping cart at BC to offer its customers the ability to view and order through their mobile phone. I have been doing regular, non-commerce pages for quite some time now. But when I apply the support for MOBILE and redirect everything to the /mobile folder, I can't find the means to over-ride the click-through to the standard pages of the shop.
Here is the site's store home page with the catalog list on it
http://www.copenhagenpastry.com/our-pastries
Here a page in the mobile folder with the same file name, but nothing happens
http://www.copenhagenpastry.com/mobile/our-pastries
I thought that was all I had to do along with setting a new set of styles for the mobile device. How does one override the Modulestylesheet.css?
Please advise and many thanks in advance!
Teejay

In my opinion the mobile/tablet redirect option isn't the best option for you if you use a lot of built-in modules that have their own URLs like the shop.  You have to have every page that is on your regular site have a version in the /mobile/ folder and that's not possible with the eCommerce module.  There's no way to setup an alternate layout for your shop.  You can create unlimited module templates for {module_catalog} and {module_shop} (http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/partner/using-custom-templates-modules.html) in which case you'd have to build separate pages for your shop manually and not rely on the default shop view which is controlled by your overall shop layout.
And, even then, you cannot have multiple product detail layouts-- you can only use one.
I think your best bet is to make your site responsive so that you can use the same layouts but they flex based on media queries in CSS if you are going to be using a lot of BC's modules.  The mobile/tablet redirection script works great for sites that are just static HTML with maybe some incontext editing, etc. but not advised for eCommerce functionality.

  • PDF or HTML for mobile Technical Documentation and Newsletters

    Hi,
I've been reviewing the pros and cons for PDF and HTML for mobile technical documentation and newsletters and wanted to get your honest thoughts on this.
    Here's the scenario:
I need to create  mobile technical documenation and newsletters that are interactive, i.e. video, commenting/annotating, links, forms, etc.
Given how the mobile publishing market is rapidly evolving, what is the most practical format, (with minimum format issues) to use for both short term and long term?  PDF or HTML?  Why?
Based on your choice, which format would you use for non-interactive documents that offers the most creative options and usability?  Why?
    Paul

Hyper Text Markup Language ( HTML ) is going to work better.  Mainly because the way mobile is setup, the interface has to conform to the device and with the other elements coded into the interface, HTML is far better.  You keep referring to usability, so even in non-interactive scenarios in mobile documentation, you're better off using HTML.

  • Optimized grid for mobile game

I am developing a game for multiple mobile devices using Flex 4.6. I wanted to ask what you think the optimal performace solution would be for creating the below component.
The component spec is as follows:
    1) It needs to be a grid type interface where icons can be dragged and dropped into it.
    2) the grid has a fixed number of empty cells that allow draganddrop capability
    3) the empty cells need the ability to display an optional background icon
Ive tested this by using the tileGroup and adding a custom component TileContainer to act as the  empty grid cells. this TileContainer accepts draGandDrop and can display a bacground icon.
The perfomance is ok, BUT i've read that i should try and use a list with the iconItemRenderer to maximize the performance for mobile. However, i don't know if this is possible since i need a static grid containing empty cells with an optional background. Would you still suggest using a list with a custom iconItemRenderer that accepts drag and drop? or should i just try and optimize the custom tileGroup as best as possible? Or any other suggestions?
Than you very much for your time.

Whether you use Starling or not depends on the nature of your apps. When you do, you can use Starling Sprites and MovieClips for what they are need for, and regular Flash objects for things that Starling isn't so good at.
You should register at the Starling forums, that's a good place to ask questions:

  • WLC Applying cached RADIUS Override values for mobile

    Hello!
We have a WiSM2 (version 7.4.110.0) with approx 200 APs. We are doing RADIUS authentication via a PacketFence backend. Everything usually works fine, but we are having an intermittent issue...
The WiSM2 gets its VLAN assignment for a client from the PacketFence server and does AAA override. If a client has not registered their device, go on one VLAN. Once they register, PacketFence disconnects them via RADIUS to the WiSM2, and then they should get their new VLAN assignment. This works fine in the majority of cases, but occasionally, after registering, the client disconnects and reconnects but is still put back on registration VLAN.
debug client mac shows this in the logs:
Applying cached RADIUS Override values for mobile 00:25:56:3d:f6:7b (caller pem_api.c:2210)
And I do not see the WiSM2 asking the PacketFence server for a VLAN assignment in the PacketFence logs.
Eventually, if the client stays disconnected long enough (5+ minutes), they can reconnect and get the proper VLAN assignment. I had previously opened a TAC about this, and they suggested a WiSM2 software upgrade and setting the Session Timeout on the WLAN to 900 seconds, which I did. This issue then disappeared for several weeks, but it has started happening again today (we saw it happen to about 15 clients throughout the day).
Anyone have any ideas on why this is happening, and how to stop the caching? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

There is nothing in the RADIUS server logs. It is as if the WiSM2 does not talk to it for the 2nd request. The flow for a problem client is like this:
    1. New client associates
    2. WiSM asks RADIUS server for VLAN
    3. RADIUS Server hasn't seen it, so it puts it on VLAN 84 (our registration VLAN)
    4. Client goes through captive portal
    5. RADIUS server sends disconnect client message to WiSM
    6. Client disconnects, reconnects
    7. WiSM2 puts it back on VLAN 84, when it should put it on a VLAN determined by the SSID. The WiSM2 never asks the RADIUS server for the VLAN again, until the client has stayed disconnected for 5+ minutes, and I see the message in the wism2 log that I wrote above.
In the vast majority of cases, step 7 works properly. That is, when the client reconnects, it asks the RADIUS server what VLAN to put it on (I see it in the RADIUS server logs). I see the second request come in, and the RADIUS server replies with appropriate VLAN for the SSID.
After they get their proper VLAN, this doesn't occur again. It is as if the RADIUS server caches the client's VLAN override attribute somewhere and uses that, rather than asking the RADIUS server.

  • "Formatted for mobile viewing by Google"

When you use Google's mobile search engine with the built-in Nokia browser and choose one of the resulting links, does the site ever appear "formatted" by Google?  This has happened now for several weeks and is driving me crazy!  Why?  Because their "formatted" page looks awful, and because I resent their paternal attempts to protect me from the web!  I see "page 1" and "zoom" links at the top, and the text "Formatted for mobile viewing by Google" and a "View page directly" link at the bottom.  So to to view the site as I expect, I must now load every page twice!
My phone is an E73 and I'm in the USA, but I expect this new "feature" affects a wide range of Nokia phones.  Except that I appear to be the first person here complaining.   Perhaps this "feature" isn't yet available worldwide?
Sooo, does this problem affect anybody else??  Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

A happy update.   I tried contacting several tech news web sites, to see if their journalists would take up my cause and use their contacts at Google to learn what is going on.  (Mere users certainly can't reach Google anymore!)  I met a nice fellow from CNet, but even he didn't seem to take my situation very seriously.
So I changed tactics and started taunting Google.   At the bottom of every reformatted page is a "Report a problem" link, which leads to a list of common problems and solutions.  The last problem is "Other", which leads to a web form.  2 or 3 times a day, I was submitting things like
"I am a user and would like to PERMANENTLY disable reformatted web pages for my Nokia E73 phone, without using logins or cookies.  This is a 2-year-old phone and I have gotten by very well so far without your meddling."
"I am a user and take great exception to your attempt to reformat web sites.  I get the impression your programmers have run out of things to do and are now making changes for the sake of change, and not based on user feedback.  I do not need protection from the big, bad www!  Nokia E73 user."
    and lastly
"The new, improved Google mobile search proved as welcome as Lupus.  A Nokia E73 user."
(If anybody relied on DejaNews in the late 1990's, their usenet search database was a godsend at first, but the web interface was gradually retooled to the point of being unusable.  And then an upstart company named Google rescued us by buying the database and again giving it a usable front end.  IMHO, Google's search interfaces are now reaching DejaNews complexity and are in need of being rescued themselves.  An article on suck.com about the fall of DejaNews inspired the above comment.)
Fast forward about a week and now no search results are reformatted.  Even the Preferences link on the main search page doesn't include the option "Format web pages for your phone".  Yes, it's possible Google still wasn't listening, and this was just the result of them further refining their filters.  Or maybe they turned the whole thing off for now?  But for anybody with this problem also needing a resolution, I still highly recommend clicking "Report a problem" and "Other" and telling them what you really think!

  • E-Commerce for mySAP ERP: Problem with java source code

    Hello everybody,
we try to implement web shops on the basis of ECO for ERP 5.0. The shop is running fine and we want to start with some extensions in java classes and web UI with NWDI  2004s.
We created a new track and our own application as described in "Development And Extension Guide". We need to extend some of the original java classes for the b2b scenario and of course the user interface.
We got the information from SAP, that the original java classes are not intended
to be modified by customers and therefore it is not intended to create a project with NWDI that contains that source code. But we should be able to create own DCs and copy the source code into it and then modify them on own risk.
We tried to do that, but always got errors.
Due to customer requirements we have to make some modifications otherwise we can not use this solution.
If there is anybody who has already some experience with this topic we
would be very glad to get some hints.
    Kind Regards
    Helmut

    Hello Raju,
I am sorry, but I am no technical consultant, but I am have to change
the already installed application for our customers.
Nethertheless I try to give you some information I have. I had a look at SAP note 883948 you mentioned. The software components which are listed under XECO are the software components which contain the E-Commerce Application. You also find them in the "Development and Extension Guide".
There are some guides under  http://service.sap.com/instguides -> mySAP Business Suite Solutions -> mySAP ERP -> mySAP ERP 2005 -> Installation. In the document "SAP E-Commerce for mySAP ERP: Business Scenario Configuration Guide" there is a table of the needed components on a high level.
From the view of the application you need the E-Commerce application itself, the TREX for searching in the product catalog, the IPC if you want to have price calculation in the shop or configuration of products with optional components.
    Hope this helps a bit
    Kind Regards
    Helmut

  • E-commerce on mobile

    hi all expert,
how does e-commerce eg b2c webshop can be integrated for mobile?
if yes, how does it fit into all platform (iphone/andriod application and typical web mobile browser) , eg alignment, font size, etc of each mobile screen.
    thanks,
    Shanti

how does e-commerce eg b2c webshop can be integrated for mobile?
Is this question specific to SAP Web Channel E-Commerce B2C? What exactly you mean by "integrated to mobile".
If you are thinking of the  above in smart phones with full-blown browsers, then you have to take care of the variations. Safari browser in Apple platforms, Opera picking up in Android platforms, then you have Blackberry and last but not the least,Palm. Does SAP support these browsers out-of-the-box? Answer is not exactly.
See the SAP Note [Note 881967 - Browser support for E-Commerce CRM 5.0|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/881967]  for the supported browsers.
In my opinion, browser support is not be the only issue. Identify the target platforms and test thoroughly for "mobile" environment, including the UI experience. Even if the app works as is in the mobile smart phone browser, no sane company will release this app in mobile and expect users to use it.
The current SAP Web channel apps are NOT designed for mobile UI experience. Need different mindset and need to redesign the entire app...

  • Changing settings for Mobile Albums?

How do I change my setting for mobile albums from all of my photos to specific photos I select?  I initially set up by selecting all photos but want to change this. I do not want all of my photos in Elements to feel to my phone, but I do want all the photos I take on my phone to feed to my mobile library in Elements.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Franz
SAP will not support any database, which is inconsistent, due to
SQL-Queries, which modify datasets or the datastructure of the SAP
Business One Database. This includes any update-, delete- or
drop-statements executed via SQL-Server Tools or via the the query
    interface of SAP Business One.
This is stated in the support contract between SAP and the SAP Business
    Partner also.
You can check SAP Note 896891 which also stated that.

  • Combobox or Dropdown list not working in AIR 2.7 for Mobile Applications

    Hey,
I want to use combobox or a dropdown list in my app for Mobile. It is coming properly on the screen.but when I try to select the thing from the list it doesnt gets clicked and the new value is not getting displayed on the dropdown.
Previously I was using older version of AIR.but now am using AIR 2.7.
So is AIR 2.7 creating a problem???
    Thanks in advance.
    Ronak Shah

ComboBox and DropDownList don't work on mobile devices.  It has to do with the differences between touch interfaces and mouse interfaces.  You'd have to extend / modify the components a bit and I would recommend creating custom skins optimized for mobile devices.
Or you can just use the ones I already optimized:  https://www.flextras.com/index.cfm?event=ProductHome&productID=21

  • Saved Message Drafts disappear in Mail for Mobile Me IMAP account only.

I have 4 email account defined in my Mail Accounts preferences. Three of them are to POP servers and my Mobile Me account is IMAP. I often draft messages and save them before sending them to give myself time to proof them before sending. When a message is saved as a draft from any one of my POP accounts, I get a "Drafts" item in the Mailboxes/folder bar that expands to each one of my 4 accounts, including the Mobile Me account.
However, when I draft and save a message from my Mobile Me account, it seems to disappear. If I have no other saved drafts in the other accounts I do not see a Drafts item in the Mailboxes/folder bar. And when I do see a Drafts item in the Mailboxes/folder bar because I have saved drafts from my other POP accounts, there is nothing in my Mobile Me drafts mailbox/folder.
This has perplexed me for a long time, and my workaround was to compose and save drafts using one of the POP accounts, and only changing the From field to my Mobile Me account just prior to sending.
Then, yesterday, I needed to access my Mobile Me mail using the web mail interface while at one of my customer sites, and to my surprise, I found all of my many missing drafts in the Drafts folder of my Mobile Me Web mail interface.
    So my questions are:
    1. Why don't I see my Mobile Me in a drafts folder while in Mail, considering that they are indeed in the drafts folder on the server?
    2. Is this the normal and proper behavior for an IMAP connection?
    3. Is this a bug, or is it a configuration issue in my mail account preference for Mobile Me?
    Thank you in advance.
    Jeff Cameron

Does anyone have any ideas or explanations for this behavior?

  • Creating a site for mobile devices

    Good morning,
I have a number of questions relating to the creation of a
site for mobile devices. My client has given me the assignment to
re-design his current website, and to also create a sub-site
suitable for mobiles. I have spent a number of hours looking around
on the Internet and trying to gain a better understanding of these
issues. Still, a number of questions remain. if you can give me any
additional understanding, that would be great.
    Question 1:
Is my understanding correct: I basically need to create two
sites, one for the wide-screen browser, and one for the mobile
browser? I can direct visitors to the mobile site using a CSS or
javascript link - if their browser identifies them as a mobile
    browser?
    Question 2
Mobile devices come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and
versions. PDA\s and iPhone's have different screensizes and
resolutions that smart--phones, which in turn are different again
from older and simpler phones. Should I design a site for a number
of different types of phones? That would a huge amount of work...
    Question 3
I also own Device Central, an App which I should think is
very useful in this situation. But I fail to understand it! OK, so
I can see what my photo or website or flash file looks like on my
Nokia N73 - but I am not designing specifically for that phone. I
also want my design to look good on all the other phones! My client
needs a website that is not tailored to one phone, but to all
    phones.
    Question 4
And why does Device Central not have profiles for the iPhone?
I would think it is popular enough to warrant its own profile... (I
post this from the Netherlands, where the iPhone is not carried
yet, and so I have only ever held one in my hand). Is this because
the iphone can see regular sites just fine?
    Question 5
How does Dreamweaver help me build a mobile site?
    Question 6
My client wants to show video on his website. In fact, that's
what this website is all about: showing sports-videos from high
profile sporting events. Which video-formats are most suitable?
    Question 7
Do all mobile phones support flash? Or only a few? Or none?
It seems to me that a flash website would allow for more creativity
    in the design.
Thanks for any help you can give. Any resources you could
point me to are also very welcome...
    Sincerely,
    Rogier Bos

  • How to Configure the Buttons on the QAF for Mobile UI Screens...

    Hi Experts,
I am in a serious need of help from the experts who already designed the Mobile UI screens.
I have built a add-on where now we are looking this add-on to be available to use in mobile applications also. Now here what I did is I have developed OWL and QA floor plans which will be used for Mobile Only. This option of selecting only for mobile is available to us while we are creating screens. In this way I have designed the screens and attached them to the work center views.
These views are attached to the work center floor plan and this is been assigned to my user. When I tried of viewing the designed screens using my android mobile I am able to see the screens owl and Qaf as of designed, but  now the problem is existing here.
When I am trying to perform one of the custom action which i have configured on the QAF floor plan the button which is configured with this custom actions is not visible at all. Not only this the standard action button on the tool bar of the Qaf like "Save" "Close" those are also not visible. I am not at all seeing any of the button on my QAF screens. With out these button I cannot go further to complete my process and complete transaction will not be done untill unless some of the custom actions which were configured on the screen. These custom actions are the action which I have declared in the custom Bo and developed with some code over there with the help of ABSL script.
I have followed the SAP 1402 documentation  but there it is not clear how to do it. I have done every step of the document but no use with it. Please needed any other real time expertise help who worked already on this mobile screens.

Sorry but your posting is pretty confused for me.
    At first you wrote:

    Later you wrote:

What now? Can you use media buttons with Winamp or not. As far as I know something like this is not possible because Toshiba has designed tool that controls WMP only

  • Text-input component with auto-complete functionality for mobile

    Hey guys,
I wonder if there is a text-input component with auto-complete functionality optimized for mobile development with AIR like the one that Android provides natively as you can see here http://developer.android.com/reference/android/widget/AutoCompleteTextView.html and here http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/hello-autocomplete.html.
At least I didn't find it in the latest SDK and I think such a component is pretty standard nowadays. Or did I simply overlook it?
Thank you guys for any advice.
    Regards,
    Thilo

    Hi relaxtraja,
    thanks for your reply!
I knew that there are a lot of auto-complete scripts on the web. What I was hoping was, that Adobe provides an officially supported auto-complete component optimized for mobile as part of the SDK (like in the Android SDK as I pointed out), but that doesn't seem to be the case. It's sad, because it's an essential part of modern UIs in mobile applications.
I've already created an auto-complete component by myself based on Spark components and I will end up using it. But I will have to optimize it for mobile applications beforehands. I just think something this essential should be provided by the SDK.
    However, thanks for posting!
    Regards,
    Thilo
