hi, i've been sitting with this problem for a week now, and finally decided to ask here
seems noone else has gotten this error message anywhere.
I assume one of my values are wrong. but i t would be nice to know which one
the complete error is:
<error xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/adept" data="E_PACK_BAD_ATTRIBUTE_VALUE http://my.ip.here.100/packaging/Package package action Add"/>
the xml im trying to post is:

    Hi Everyone,
I'm getting basically the same error. Are there any rules or guidelines that we are suppose follow when writing an app for iOS? Is there a way to know exactly where it is crashing? My apps are not MXML, only actionscript. Also I made sure I have no errors not even warnings in my SWF file, but still no go!

  • Big ANE causes java.lang.OutOfMemoryError when packaging Air application

    Hi,
I'm working on an Air mobile game that uses ANE on iOS and Android. I'm in the process of creating a new ANE and face a problem on the Android side.
My ANE requires an external framework (Burstly, http://burstly.com). If I just link the Android project to Burstly's .jar file, I get errors in "adb logcat", like:
I/dalvikvm(16074): Could not find method com.burstly.lib.BurstlySdk.init, referenced from method com.freshplanet.burstly.functions.InitBurstlyFunction.call
In order to include Burstly's files in my own .jar, I unzip Burstly's .jar file and repackage them with my compiled code in a unique .jar (following advice on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7732742/air-3-native-extensions-for-android-can-i-how-t o-include-3rd-party-libraries).
Problem: Burstly's SDK includes thousands of files. It doesn't create any trouble when packaging the ANE, but when I try to package the Air application, I get the following error:

I read that the solution to eliminate this error is to give Java the parameters "-Xms...M -Xmx...M", with "..." being a high-enough number. Note that I'm working on a machine with 8GB of RAM. I tried to package the app in command line to be able to pass these parameters:
    /usr/bin/java -Xms512M -Xmx4096M -jar "/Applications/Adobe Flash Builder 4.6/sdks/4.6.0air31/lib/adt.jar" -package -target apk -storetype pkcs12 -keystore [...].p12 Main.apk Main-app.xml Main.swf -extdir "/Users/alex/Documents/Adobe Flash Builder 4.6/.metadata/.plugins/com.adobe.flexbuilder.project.ui/ANEFiles/front-end-mobile/com.ado be.flexide.multiplatform.ios.platform"
But when I run a "ps -ef | grep java", I can see that adt runs another Java program (dx) without transmitting my -Xms -Xmx parameters:
    /usr/bin/java -jar /Applications/Adobe Flash Builder 4.6/sdks/4.6.0air31/lib/android/bin/dx.jar --dex --output=/private/var/folders/t9/3kw74cx14nv2xg9tgmx9m1jc0000gp/T/b5757d93-1e93-439c-8f6d -c93e4933f6f1/outputDEX.dex [... bunch of jars]
Any idea to solve this issue?
    Thanks
    Alex

I solved my issue by setting the _JAVA_OPTIONS environment variable. (Note: there are two underscores)
I added the following line to my .bash_profile:
    export _JAVA_OPTIONS="-Xms1024m -Xmx4096m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m"
Now everytime a Java program is launched from the command line, I see the following message:
    Picked up _JAVA_OPTIONS: -Xms1024m -Xmx4096m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
And my application packaging runs just fine now.
I still have an issue though: this trick solved the problem for packaging the app from the command line, but the _JAVA_OPTIONS are not picked up when packaging from Flash Builder, so it still crashes there.
Note that my Adobe Flash Builder 4.6.ini contains the following options:
    -Xms512m
    -Xmx1676m
    -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
    -XX:PermSize=64m
1676m is the highest number I can put before Flash Builder refuses to launch. I'm not sure if these parameters are actually passed to the VM that runs de dx.jar program, or if it's just for the ActionScript compiler. But anyway my app packaging still crashes in Flash Builder.
If someone knows a way to force Flash Builder to pickup the _JAVA_OPTIONS set in the command line, let me know :-)
    Thanks
    Alex

  • Cannot find lib when packaging for iOS

You can see the same question on StackOverflow here:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11547515/cannot-find-lib-when-packaging-for-ios
    Hi,
I am developping an Air Native Extension (ANE) in order to be able to use the burstly(1) ads on mobile devices.
As for my setup, I am using the FlashDevelop 4.0.4(2) and Adobe Air 3.3 (3). I'm using Flex 4.6.0 SDK. The project is setup on Windows7.
In order to work on iOS devices, Burstly requires a number of frameworks and librares (4)
I managed to write and compile the .a library for iOS. I also have the interface (actionscript code) that will be shared for Android and iOS compiled into a swc and a librairy.swf. All of this is successfully packaged into a .ane which is included in my project.
When compiling a .a library on MacOS, all the framework and library used don't seems to be packaged in the ".a". This is why I had to use Air 3.3, for the -platformsdk option(5).
Since I work on Windows, I followed the instruction in this post to get the iOS SDK (6).
Following (4) and (5), I made a platformConfig.xml file like this, which is packaged in the .ane
        <platform xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/extension/3.1">
            <sdkVersion>4.2</sdkVersion>
            <linkerOptions>
<!-- to use the AssetsLibrary framework -->
                <option>-framework AssetsLibrary</option>
                <option>-framework AudioToolbox</option>
                <option>-framework AddressBook</option>
                <option>-framework AVFoundation</option>
                <option>-framework CFNetwork</option>
                <option>-framework CoreLocation</option>
                <option>-framework MapKit</option>
                <option>-framework MediaPlayer</option>
                <option>-framework MessageUI</option>
                <option>-framework OpenAL</option>
                <option>-framework OpenGLES</option>
                <option>-framework QuartzCore</option>
                <option>-framework StoreKit</option>
                <option>-framework SystemConfiguration</option>
                <option>-framework Foundation</option>
                <option>-framework CoreGraphics</option>
                <option>-libsqlite3</option>
                <option>-libxml2</option>
                <option>-libz</option>
            </linkerOptions>
        </platform>
and this is the line to compile the actuale .ane
        call "%FLEX_SDK%\bin\adt" -package -target ane ../release/burstlyadsextension.ane extension.xml -swc burstlyAds.swc -platform iPhone-ARM library.swf libBurstlyAds.a -platformoptions platformConfig.xml
Problem arises when I try to package the iOS app with ADT:
        call adt -package -target %TYPE%%TARGET% %OPTIONS% %SIGNING_OPTIONS% "%OUTPUT%" "%APP_XML%" %FILE_OR_DIR% -extdir lib/external/ -platformsdk ../Libraries/iPhoneOS5.0.sdk/
    this happens:
"ld: library not found for -libsqlite3
Compilation failed while executing : ld64"
frameworks seems to be added fine, but the dylib are not. I tried to add the line:
        <option>-L usr/lib/</option>
before including the lib, but I got this error instead:
"ld: warning: directory not found for option '-Lusr/lib/'
ld: library not found for -libsqlite3
Compilation failed while executing : ld64"
I tried to use the full path, other relative path, but no matter what path I put in the option, I always get a "warning: directory not found for option". Even "<option>-L ../</option>" give me this warning. The only thing that seems to work is "<option>-L /../</option>", but my .dylib obviousle are not there.
So my questions are: What did I do wrong? Any idead what else I could try? Even an explanation as to why it is not working would be helpful!

Thanks a lot, that took care of the

But now, I'm stuck with this error instead:

  • Unresolved std lib methods when packaging mobile app with ANE ios7, mavericks, air sdk 3.9

  • Files created in CS4 - saved in CS5 - crash when packaging

There seems to be problems when packaging in InDesign CS5 - my problem seems quite specific. Files created originally in CS4 then worked on in CS5.5 and then saved always hang when packaged. Files created directly in CS5.5 don't. They're fine.
    I'm on a mac Pro, OS 10.5.8
Anyone got any ideas? (I've tried exporting out as an IDML.)

Hi Peter. Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I'm actually on 7.5 (so CS 5.5, aplogies for the incorrect version in my above post). So I think I'm as up to date as I can be.
To be honest I'm not surprised that the only diagnosis is 'strangeness' - (I'll keep playing with idml's in the hope I can get round this) but my whole CS upgrade experience from CS4 (which was rock solid really) has been terrible. Having trouble working with legacy files and effectively loosing the ability to package files has become a nightmare in InDesign. (There's other issues as well - there seems to be lot's of weirdness with masterpages etc etc). Not being able to collect images for a postcard is one thing - not being able to do it with 120pp catalogues is quite another!
I'm going to think very carefully about the next upgrade from Adobe -  (I've even had to switch back to Photoshop CS4 because of a serious unresolved bug in that.)

  • Feature Request: View exported PDF when packaging

Part of my workflow on job completion / sign-off is to package my InDesign document [File > Package]
I use this feature to ensure I have fonts, links, IDML and Print-ready PDF for archiving purposes and saw that CC greatly improved the packaging feature by adding IDML and PDF options. What I would like to suggest/see is that the PDF option comes with a "View PDF File" when packaging to ensure it has saved correctly / without error. (Indesigns uses the last settings to determine bleed etc. irrelevant to which preset you have selected). It would just save a few more nav clicks along the way.

There are a couple of ways you can view the mp3 path. (1) Right click on the track, and select "Show Song File." (2) Right click on the track, select "Get Info" and look on the Summary tab.

  • Indesign CS5 crashing when packaging.

    Hi,
My Colleague and I have just been on training courses to use CS5, inparticular indesign. We have been provided with new PC whic have the spec shown below.
    Intel Core TM2 DUO CPU
    e8400 @3 ghz
    1.93 GB RAM.
We are having problems on both machines when it comes to packaging documents (small A4 books 20-30 pages) and graphic design for exhibtion stands)
Sometimes when packaging the documents idesign crashes always at the same stage (when saving the indesign file) all the links and fonts will save to the folder but the indesign file never saves correctly, it there but will not open and crashes indesign). The only way of shutting indesign is via the task manager. When opening indesign again we are presented with two files, which appear to be the same. This is causing us all types of problems and I was wondering if there is a simple explination, as some file package no problem.

To be very, very clear about this, InDesign and other Adobe applications depending upon Adobe's internal font handling and rendering engine (CoolType) are not really sensitive to either “freebie or cheap fonts“ or even “poor quality” fonts, but rather, fonts that are malformed or corrupted. There is a very big difference here. There are plenty of shlocky fonts out there in terms of lousy typographical design or execution of same. That is not the same as fonts that simply don't obey the specification for either Type 1, TrueType, or OpenType and/or somehow along the line have had something overwrite part of their file structure. Tools such as FontLab and more recent versions of Fontographer generate “clean” fonts and are not the cause of these problems.
FWIW, I've been in this biz for well over twenty years and have seen and used fonts from many foundries. Although I have seen examples of absolute dreckish fonts with hinting problems and even inability to properly render with assymetrical resolutions (such as 600x1200), in my own use, I have yet to encounter even one font that would crash Adobe's software. Typically, they don't come that way “from the vendor” but can be messed up via travels as e-mail attachments, ASCII FTP transfers, etc.

  • Gather Illustrator links when packaging in InDesign?

Is there a way to have InDesign also gather the linked files from a placed .ai file when packaging for print? I am constantly getting files for output that are missing linked ai files (and have done it myself a couple of times!)
    Thanks

That is all great, if the person creating the PDF knows what they are doing, but even after explaining to people the proper way to create a pdf I still get them saved on the lowest possible setting with all imaged very compressed.
There are lots of time I much prefer to get native files from my client, very often have to make changes to client files before output. They do what they can and then send us what they created to 'fix'. Having native files is a huge help, but we always have to go back and request the files that were linked to the ai file. Plus after getting the 50th pdf from a client that has been saved to a RGB color destination and all of the black is now CMYK rather than just K. and the "spot" colors are all process.. you know how it is with some clients, "it looks fine on their inkjet printer"... "it only printed out blue and black when when printed it here"
We do lots of film output for smaller local printers and they and their clients don't always understand the correct way to build a file and get it to separate correctly.
And I love sending PDF for film output, but I am still amazed at the number of places that can't (or won't) just take a pdf file for output, especially if going to spot colors. Drives me crazy, but I am sure they get just as many 'bad' pdfs as everyone else and don't want to bother messing with it in most cases.

  • InDesign CC freezes when packaging files.

InDesign CC freezes when packaging files. Just spinning beachball. Need to Force Quit. Tried resetting Prefs at startup (holding down keys), but no change. Looking for path to  Default and Data files, but not finding them in Library. (D'oh!) Downloaded most recent CC versionlast night. Any ideas or should I try CC (2014)

    Hi Pam,
    I would certainly give CC2014 a try.
Other than that, make sure there’s no illegal characters like slashes in the file or folder names and that the path is not too long.

  • Segment Size when Packaging

For a while now, when packaging material for our intranet I
use a custom setting that works best with our data transfer rates.
I am getting ready to put some courseware on our outside server for
other employees to access when they are offsite. My question is
should I use 56 kbs Modem or DSL/Cable Modem? If I use the higher
setting, how would it impact 56 kbs users? If I use lower settings,
would 56 kbs users notice any difference? Would cable modem users
see slower performance when packaged at lower settings?
Anyone have some experience in testing these settings?
    Thanks!
    Steve

    > Anyone have some experience in testing these settings?
I always go for the larger segment size, for a number of
    reasons, including:
    - The browser has to make fewer calls for segments - each
    request has a
certain overhead; latency waiting for the request to be
    answered etc. Take
the extreme and try 1k segments and see how bad it can be.
    - Larger segments may cause what seem like longer delays on a
    single
request, but they download more code, so there are fewer
    requests. The user
perception can be that the course is more usable.
    - If you have any large graphics or other internal content,
    they won't be
split up anyway, so many segments won't ever be so small as
    16k.

  • InDesign CC / Cloud Fonts - Incomplete Font warning, does not export font when Packaging?

I'm using a new font from the creative cloud.  I  packaged my project and the fonts showed "incomplete fonts" and then didn't export the font, into the font folder, when packaging.  There is an AdobeFnt15.lst file in the fonts folder, which I'm not sure about?  If this is the case, how will I deliver my project to my printer when it is finished?

If you downloaded Typekit fonts from the Creative Cloud (the ones available from the Fonts menu in the Creative Cloud Desktop app), they are not packaged. They are only licensed to Creative Cloud subscribers or Typekit subscribers. They can be embedded in a PDF file or in an EPUB file or in a DPS project.
So you have two options: (1) Given the popularity of the Creative Cloud, your printer should have at least one CC subscription, then they can download  the fonts you're using. In fact, it's a relatively automatic process and I describe in the linked blog post below; or (2) you can create a PDF file they can print from.
Here's an article on how it works:
