E5400 Smart WiFi new firmware coming?

With all the issues that have presented themselves in this forum, when will new Smart Wi Fi firmware be released to address some of the issues?  The last release was November 2012 which seems to be the same for both the 4200 and 4500 router.

No one can really say when Linksys will release a new firmware for this router. Hopefully it would be soon to address issues that were experienced with this router. Best ways to know is either visit and check their website from time to time or contact tech support and ask them.

  • N97 New Firmware coming 1st July 2009

Everyone take a big sigh of relief because I have good word that the N97 is getting it's first firmware update this Wednesday.
Not sure what time and what'll be fixed but fingers crossed, most of the common bugs will disappear!

I am sure you guys are all interested to know how testing has been going, and we are pleased to report that at the labs the new fw is ready, and we are finalising the upgrade and distribution method ready for this Wednesday
There have been over 100 fixes and improvements, I shall cover the main ones:
the lock/unlock/backlight bug has been fixed. This was caused by the handset not reporting autolock correctly and thought it was still unlocked, despite the backlight being switched off which is independant. When users were trying to unlock their handset, they were infact locking it, and then unlocking it.
There have been some subtle changes to the way the interface responds. For example, the phonebook now has kinetic scrolling, and swiping the screen sideways to hide the homescreen has been taken further, so that swiping when in primary functions such as phonebook, application menu and a few others will revert the screen back. This is also the case for the web browser. The way the home screen and main menus were rendered has also been refined. Screens will load up quicker, and the phone will use idle time between user presses to load items just off screen, scrolling is also much improved by this.
Nokia Maps application has been given a new look, while positioning accuracy has been improved. The time taken from starting the application to getting a lock has been improved, with times around 8 seconds or less when in combination with A-GPS. The door-to-door has also been improved, with walking routes giving audio feedback as well, direct to house.
When the phone went through different primary connections for data, such as 3g packet, or Wifi, certain widgets became stuck in a loop where they continuously recieving a null from the previous connection method. The phone has a new feature for developers that 'shouts' when a connection is changed, in addition to lost. The widgets have been updated accordingly and we have updated our knowledge base accordingly.
When large videos were played through quickly, sometimes the screen went black as the video information could not sync up with the raw video data quick enough. This was especially apparent when skipping through multiple videos quickly. This has been addressed by caching the first 30 frames of each video before allowing playback to commence and we have had no problems of this kind.
Community made applications that began on phone start up, and then got stuck in an error loop were unable to terminate or uninstall. We have addressed this by adding a terminate now feature to the application menu. When switching application, holding down on the application will display the option to do so.
The pictures and video clips made with the phone sometimes did not update in the photo/video library after files had been manually added via a transfer. This was due to the way in which files were counted and stored by phone conflicting with the number of files present on the device and has been resolved.
Text messaging now has the option to confirm sending once the green button/send button is pressed. An option was also added to prevent accidental sending of blank messages.
The symbols menu has been updated to include french, german and spanish special characters.
H264 decoding is now supported! The ovi suite has also been updated to automaticly convert most common video formats to the native phone display resolution and format.
And a big one last for you guys...
Multitouch support has been added. The paint application has been updated to show this in practical use, and photos can be zoomed in and out by squashing or streching the image. Again the knowledge base was updated to provide developers the new input fuction should they wish to take advantage.
Quoted from the Mobile Review forums...
    Sounds good!

  • When is the N8 new Firmware coming?

I was told in early January 2011 soon, how long is soon
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If your phone is O2 branded then yes there could be a big delay. O2 is often slow to approve new updates and Nokia is not allowed to release it for branded models until the networks say so.
This only applies to branded phones though, people using unbranded phones on O2 (or any other network) get the firmware when Nokia releases it.
If you do have a branded model I suggest you start a thread on O2's forum asking when they plan to release it.

  • N78 New Firmware

    Hello guys!
I know anybody here have the information about new firmwares coming to devices but you are much more experienced than me to know if N78 lifes cycle has end or Nokia would planning a new firmware to N78
I'm asking because it has lots of bugs that should be corrected, and when I say "lots" I mean at least 4 or 5 annoying bugs
The lastest firmware is dated from 05/08/09 (American Format)
Do u have any idea about this question?
    Best Regards

Nokia seems to be comitted to improve the user experience... Its really good to know that... They have to do it to survive... BTW Nokia N78 latest firm ware is a little better. The operations seems to be fast.
It has just been a day with the firmware.. So far no problem... I faced a few problems while updating the USB get disconnected when the update is about to begin... but the latest software update program has all required warning... It asked me to restart my pc and my cell phone... And try again ... I did it Alas it worked ... got it updated ...
    I found a few things new :
The icons for videos (The one in old version was better) and search are all new.
I am from india. I brought this phone seeing the FM transmitter option. But after i brought the phone i found it missing.
But with this software update i got the option under the music menu :-) thanks a lot nokia.
Few problems with the camera still remains... music volume has come down a bit... the gps seems to be working a little faster.

  • Can't associate EA6500 to my Smart Wifi account

    Hi,
I have a problem with my EA6500 router. I can't connect to the internet, the connexion works fine. But, everytime i go on the smart wifi login page, i enter my login and password and then i'm asked to download the software for my EA6500 and to associate it with my account.
The problem is that i just can't update it manually because i couldn't ever go on the tools page. Never.
So i'm here with a great router but i can't configure it.
I asked the support service several times but they always asked me to reset the router. Nothing changes.
I 'm still unable to process after the login page, i have created a account successfully, i can login but everytime i just get stucked at " Associate your router with your account" page. My only options there is to click on OKAY or a link to download the firmware on Linksys support. I get the firmware but i can't install it because i can't go in the administrative page.
So basically, i can't connect to the cisco connect cloud service. Anyone can help ?
    Thanks in advance

I'm having the same "can't associate" problems.
Using wired connection.  Internet access is working fine from older Linksys router, both wired and wireless.
Tried resetting EA6500 (30/30/30 - 2 blinks - reset, 2-5 mins yaddy yaddy yada... never resets.
Can't ping 192.168.1.1, transmit failure, general failure (ipconfig /all shows that still as the default gateway IP)
    Can't access myrouter/local
The associate link (verify account) from the e-mail doesn't do anything (goes to "associate router" page, OK is the only allowed response).
Can't get to Tools menu to identify current firmware (probably original), update to new firwmare, etc.
Re-tried set-up from CD, can't find wireless signal.
Re-tried set-up from web link, can't find wireless signal.
    I can't un-do an auto-update, if it's set ON (can't get to Tools)
(from Similar query here: http://community.linksys.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/Update-my-EA6500-Why/m-p/918352#M293632 )
I've reviewed most potentially useful queries here, tried everything I can think of... and I do have a clue at these kinds of things...  and short of freezing the unit, nothing has worked so far.
    Ideas?

  • Is there going to be new firmware for the EA6400

I have a Linksys EA6400(AC1600) connected to a new telus wireless modem/router and i always get on my galaxy s4 unstable connection!! can someone help me?
And when is there going to be new firmware software for this wireless router?
    Thanks =)

No one here would know if there is software coming im afraid. Try going to settings, wifi then hit the menu button and advanced. Then un check the auto switch from wifi to data and back all the way out. That fixed the notification issue on my note3

  • Smart WiFi Broadcasting S.S.I.D

Is there any way to make networks hidden through the Wifi Smart software? I have a Cisco Linksys E4200V2. I have gone through everything to try figure out how to make my S.S.I.D. to not be broadcasted, but seems like the only way to make it hidden is to use the Origonal Firmware make it as hidden, then install the New Firmware and software. Seems like Cisco may have missed this option. I do know a lot of people whould prefer their Networks hidden for a little security. I know it isn't much, cause if someone wants to get that info it's not hard to get it. But for people who don't know or don't want to waste all the time to find the Hidden Network name can be turned away, for going through that extra step.

To disable the SSID Broadcast on the router, you need to go to the router's interface. These links below will guide you how to do it.

  • Help! E75 new firmware doesn't work!!

    I upgraded to 201.12.01 firmaware.
Now I can't make any calls ("call forbidden") and I don't receive any calls.
Also the phone's menu is very buggy: when I choose smth in the menu I get in the wrong page!
I made a hard reset. The phone worked well for 2 hours. But when I finished installing all the software - it broke again the same way ((
What's wrong?? Is there any chance to cancel that new "improving" firmaware?
How can I get that phone work well??
PS. It was the last time I bought Nokia phone. I think Nokia can produce only "simple" phone models, but not a smartphone..
PPS. DO NOT UPGRADE A FIRMWARE IN YOUR PHONE!!!!

yep i gave the same advice to my friends: do not upgrade the phone. at least until the bugs are fixed.
We were promised by a new firmware update coming today, my main problem is with my GPS, it keeps hitting me with no connection, like the phone is totally separated from its GPS receiver, it worked just fine before with the v110 firmware, and Nokia  totally removed the satellite status which i found really useful!!!
this firmware is a real screw up for NOKIA i always loved their phones and updates, hope they fix these issues soon, cause i really loved my e75

  • Does someone possess Macally eXRack SATA-Card or have a newer Firmware/driver for it?

    Hi,
I have this card and I wondered, if there might be an updated firmware for it. Since mine seems to have the one that came with it stock.
I contacted MacAlly, no answer. Let vendor contact Macally, no response to hinm either. I wanted a newer firmware, because I found very few Drives to be compatible with it and thought it needs an update maybe. That was some time ago...
Lately, my G4 kernel paniced and it seemed to be the Macally card. after having it pulled wcerything works again. I now have it in again and it is ok. In the panic log there was a driver shown for the MacAlly card projovian.driver.
This is all info I have about the card:
Macally eXRack SUA100-E Rev1.1 (2 internal SATA, internal 1 ATA-133, 1 eSATA. Only 2 SATA ports can be used at a time, selection via jumpers):
    - recognized as "device type scsi"
    - limited variety of drive sis supported
    - deep sleep
    - minimum OS 10.2 or OS 9
    - bootable
    - supports reading complete SMART-data(!), of course only for the few drives supports (for sk-3500 external enclosures connected via eSATA, it will show only the general status of a drive, but you will be able to use more HDD models externally, that are not supported on the internal SATA-port)
    - the additional IDE-133 Bus can see every SATA-Drive (so far) via adapter and read the SMART data there, too.
    - Chipset:
    small chip "Winbond W49V002AP
    240883401
    4166FSA"
    big chip "VIA VT6421L
    0502CD TAIWAN
    2IA2008841"
    - drivers already present in 10.4/10.5
    - manufacturer-ID: 0x1106
    - device-ID: 0x3249
    - subsystem-manufacturer-ID: 0xcc97
    - subsystem-ID: 0xaa01

My system is fairly new Lenovo only had it maybe 5 months using windows 8.1.  Any help will be most appreciated!  Please give step by step instructions, please don't assume I know computers/routers/networking because if i did i wouldn't have these problems... :-)  Pretend I am 10yrs and you have to be specific and detailed about what, where, how, etc., regarding getting smart wifi tools to work.... No offense to 10 year olds...

  • EA2700 Smart WiFi Unable to Connect

I can't connect My EA2700 router through the Smart Wifi Utility.
When I first turned on the router I utilized the the CD it came with and tried to set it up. Although I was in range of the router and I can see it in My wireless list, I couldn't configure it.
I came of the utility and using the windows 7 prompts I was able to change the SSID and I received a generic password.
I was able to connect My laptop to the router with this password and access the internet.
When went to configure it through the Smart Wifi utility using the same password I can't access it. My laptop is connected but I can't access the router in the utillity.
I directly connected My laptop to the router using a cat5 straight cable from My laptops Ethernet port to the router's port #1 and tried the smart wifi utillity again. Still I can't connect.
I tried using the IP 192.168.1.1 in the browser Still can connect.
I tried using the CCC website Still nothing.
The prompt keeps saying invalid password, mind you at the moment I have already connected 3 more devices with the generic password.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Have your tried using "admin" instead? You did not exactly configure the router using the Cisco Connect setup wizard so the router's password is not the same as your wireless network's password. Log-in to http://192.168.1.1 or http://myrouter.local and use "admin" for password. If you have upgraded the router's firmware during setup, you may also go to http://linksyssmartwifi.com. Here, you can choose to access the page locally (use "admin" for password still) or create a Linksys Smart Wifi account for cloud- based access.

I've heard the same that it's giving people wifi probs, and the only solution to it is to Reset your phone, it worked for some and didn't for others, I really don't know about this and I'm, to be honest, after more than 12 years with nokia, feel that they are not listening to their consumers, even the new firmware doesn't have any major changes, not even kinetic scrolling !!??!!, but this might just be a random bug fix, anyway Tube is the last Nokia for me, and this phone is gonna work for more than 2 years now and I would like to see some advancements in the firmware. Nokia Please Listen to yer consumers.

  • Nokia N85 v31.002 New Firmware

SW improvements and corrections firmware version 31.002
    - Fix for streaming issue
Not possible to stream with redirection
    - Gmail/Google mail naming issue in UK & Germany
    - Fix for “doesn’t switch on” issue

    Hello Everybody,
Firstly I would like to thank, everyone on Nokia, thanks for your efforts to make our Phones better...
I just upgrade to this new Firmware, I've been using it for like 4 o day or so and this are my findings...
    Pros:
    System Speed up.
    Videos/photo rendering is faster.
    Cons:
Opera Mobile 10 beta 2 cannot be installed.
I cannot create new lists anymore.
I cannot update my music Library.
Volume up/down keys are not working very often. (I have to shut it down and then turn it ON again, in order to get it working)
every time I make a call, if a wifi network is available it tries to connect to it.
I had a custom ringtone, custom text message tone and also a custom alarm tone after upgrade, all of them were deleted after the process. (DELETED from the memory card I'm using)
I upgrade twice, first through OTA and then through my PC. (OTA upgrade was 0.6  MB; PC upgrade was 148MB, HUGE difference)
I'm gonna do a hard login and then comment what happened!
    Thanks!

    -Chirag

Good afternoon, Chirag! I was connecting a device (Roku3 via ethernet) to stream something down the hall to the bedroom tv temporarily (modem is in office) by running an ethernet cable from room to room. I do this every other week without issue for a couple years now. When I connected the cable to the modem the first time, the modem siezed up completely causing me to pull the plug to reboot it.The WiFi wasn't connecting to any devices it was previously and the computers hooked up via ethernet weren't online anymore either. It rebooted and things were fine as normal. When I disconnected the ethernet cable from the modem, it siezed up again causing me to have to pull the plug to reboot it again to get all the other devices back online.Normally I'd say static charge could disrupt the electronics and cause the issue that way, but there's no carpet anywhere and I've never had this issue occur since doing this. (Of course this'd be a non-issue if LG would updarte their TV app list, but I digress). I haven't wanted to "test" it again since doing so twice in a short time already, I didn't want to cause any undo issues with the modem since I work from home and *need* that internet connection working properly.
All that being said though (as "minor" as it may seem), the WiFi issues experienced before are completely gone and that's the much greater news to me as the ethernet thing I can work around another way if it's an actual issue. Speeds are still up there, connectivity is still good as well - so this has been an incredible firmware upgrade in my opinion.
