E6 + Belle = most advanced Nokia's business phone ...

What is a MUST for business phone on the ONE FIRST HOMESCREEN :
1) Clock
2) E-Mail
3) Calendar
And this is - AT LEAST !
Nokia – are you kidding? It’s real business phone now with Belle?

@strelamcqueen: Full ACK!
There are very few good business phones out in the wild.
Better get an iPhone? Well, have fun typing and using the castrated calender and contact manager.
Better get an Android? Ok, there's the Desire Z from HTC which has a neat hardware keyboard. Trying to sync your data with Outlook? Have fun finding an app that actually doesn't screw up at this.
Better get a Blackberry? Well, probably the most reasonable alternative.
If I read the words "iPhone" and "Android" in the same context as "business phone", I honestly believe this to be a good joke!
Sorry guys, Nokia's current portfolio of Symban-powered business phones are the devices actually satsifying business needs (besides Blackberry, probably). I have not seen a single competitor that features a good calendar, contact manager, email program and sufficient Outlook synchronization. Those are capabilities that Nokia is just good at.

  • Business Phones - Nokia Still Dont Get It!

I've recently moved from a Blackberry to Nokia E5. I mut say that my new Nokia has everything the Blackberry does, except I was surprized to find that Nokia has learnt nothing from Blackberry's success.
The email application on the E5 is nothing short of completely useless.I've tried both the regular email and push email and both fall seriously short. The regular email takes hours to download a single message and the phone keep prompting you to select your preferred connection and there are all these prompts like, "connecting", "disconnecting", "loading". The blackberry has none of these prompts...
I also tried the Nokia push email service hoping that I wouldn't have to sit for hours just to load one single email. After signing up on the website, I tried to enter my work IMAP and SMTP settings. During the setup, I didn't see the option to use StartTLS, only SSL. In any case, the first time I set it up, the Nokia website could not connect, the forth time it connected, I received an SMS on my phone. I clicked on the SMS and lone behold I started receiving email messages.
From a user interface standpoint, the Nokia push email service is definitely nowhere near the usability of the black berry. For instance, the email headers take up the whole screen. You have to scroll down on every message to see the message content. This is a pain if you just want to flip across your messages to see if there is anything important available. Furthermore, I am not sure why they bother with the download original html message, since Nokia's phone seems incapable of actually retrieving a message dispite the fact that I am on a 3G network with fast Internet browsing configured. Also, you can clearly see that Nokia's email application is retrofitted to support push email but is not designed from the ground up to support push email.
Getting the feeling that my E5 might not be a total write off, I thought I'd try setup my girlfriends state of the art Nokia phone. Curiously, when we subscribed with her phone, we did not receive an SMS, the Nokia web site just showed her account status after signing up.
Anyway, on my phone, after about 30 minutes, I noticed that Nokia's push email service just stopped working. It simply stopped sending emails. It seems even though I might be tempted to overlook the shortcomings of Nokia's push email service, it doesn't even work.
Conclusion: (1) five years later, Nokia still does not have a grasp on one of the most important applications for business users, namely push email. I find this absolutely, astounding since it is just an easy concept to understand. Are Nokia engineers actually thinking at all?
    (2) Nokia push email service is time consuming and difficult to setup
    (3) Nokia's push email service doesn't work
    (4) Nokia's push email service is a retrofit on a useless email client
These facts, make the Nokia wholely inadequate for business use. Its no wonder they are getting pummelled in the market.

I managed to get push email working by installing Emoz.... a Symbian application that seems to work better than Nokia's push email. Still, I feel that Nokia makes excellent phones, but its time someone banged them in the head so that they can finally understand what their customers are really looking for re: push email. In my mind, there is little point in having a standard email client in a phone at all. Push email is absolutely essential. And it is essential to get 100% right to win in the marketplace.

  • Found another Belle calendar bug (Nokia, when is B...

I know, Nokia does not react here but writing to Dutch Nokia Care is no use: either no answer or a standard answer like "Your C6-01 is a high quality business phone with advanced features ... blah blah blah".
But okay, found another bug in the Belle calendar. In the calendar widget to be precise: I have a easy week, no appointments. Next appointment is Monday 12 March at 09:15. Much to my surprise I did see the next thing in my calendar widget this morning Monday 5 March: at the top "monday" and below that 09:15 Doctor. I see that today, on Monday the 5th while that appointment is set for Monday the 12th. But that bugged calendar widget is not showing a date, just "monday".
So besides the stupid 1 line mention bug, it also shows info that is confusing to say the least.
So please Nokia, fix the calendar!!
(and no, I do not want that ComingNext app )

Export the region as an audio file first. Right-click the track select Export as audio file.
Then import the track into the new project.
Alternately, do a Save As of the project as a different file name.
Re-open and rearrange the tracks as you please.
    Hope that helps.

  • Business Phones _ Concept Understanding

    I'm really confused !
what should I get from a business phone that I won't get from other phones like N series.
I know N series are much better when it comes to multimedia ,but the black berry connect that E series only support did make since that time , and made it logical to sacrifice the multi media powerful handling that N series offer.
We know now that Nokia has stoped black berry connect support on it's now models like E71 that I own currently ,and it was replaced by MfE _mail for exchange_
That still made since as I am still able to use my business mail ,however , today when I was browsing cataloges on my friend's N73 , I found MfE available there !and ready to download and install !
As a result of that , can I know what my business phone offers me for business that other N series mobile does not offer ?

I think the previous line of communicators (9300 / 9500 / 9300i) was the last atempt from Nokia to make a real business phone. They had some business fetures (in my opinion) which are not present now in the actual "business" line of products:
    - Simultaneous opening of more than one E-mail or message
    - Download ANY type of file from web page, not just known types
    - Save ANY type of file attached to E-mail, not just known types
    - Open multile web pages in sepparate windows
    - Scientific calculator (this is even present on S40 phones, but not on S60 !)
    - Fax
Maybe the sales did not pay off, maybe there are not so many people using such advanced features, I do not know. Certainly Nokia have decided that the mass-produced S60 is the way to go, so they have dropped all these business features and left them for third-party developers.
If you remember the "old days", Nokia used to be famous for their easy-to-use menus / phones. Nowdays, even Samsung is producing phones with S60 installed ! It is so strange to use a Samsung mobile phone and have the same menus as in a Nokia E or N series... Now only the hardware can differentiate them. But the business features are mainly software !
New S60 Calculator can be downloaded here-> http://www.nokia.com/betalabs/calculator
it is still beta, but once it graduates from Beta, it might be factory installed on all S60
the Symbian OS will be open source soon, hence you will see more phones with Symbian from other manufacturers...

  • Belle update for Nokia C6-00

Why Nokia is not giving Symbian Belle update for nokia C6-00 while Nokia 500 is running on same platform which is much cheaper than C6-00. I am using C6-00 from around 16 months and the software is really slow and it hangs multiple times in a day. Before purchasing this phone i suggest all friends to purchase nokia phones, at that time i was using nokia's low end phones but when i purchased this phone, it never gives me satisfation that i am using a smartphone. So i am making plan to move on to some other brand.
    Thanks and Regards

    ( An unsatisfactory customer)

Belle is not being released for any S60v5 devices, they don't have the necessary internal hardware to run it. The Nokia 500 was released running Anna and it does have the required hardware, it was also released long after the C6-00.
Only S^3 and Symbian Anna devices can be updated to Nokia Belle. S60V5 devices are just too old, even the C6-00 which was released towards the end of that OS's life.
So if you really are unhappy about this then you really do need to switch to another brand. Before you switch you may want to look at that brands history for releasing updates, for example you'll find a lot of older android devices stuck on old versions too.
There is nothing further that this forum or Nokia can do to help you with this.

    Thanks psychomania,
I have noticed that not everyone has such a problem. In fact I don't want to buy any iPhone or Galaxy S3-S4 or XPeria Z and I would like to go for 920, but I want to be sure that it will be a great phone and after the purchase I will 100% happy about my decision That's all. My last experience from Nokia was not that good (vide Nokia E6) and I am wondering if Nokia Lumia will satisfy me

  • I have a nokia dual sims phone, with a rogers card...

i live in ny, but when i went to canada it says no service, and in the states its saying no service....what am i doing wrong... i couldn't even put minutes on in in montreal, with a voucher. i was suppose to get free minutes with the card, but that never happened either....i go to networking and they can't find one..i have a canadian phone number and address on the phone, so i should have been able to use it in montreal.

Can I ask what model is the phone and where was it purchased?
My first guess is that it's a non-US model
The US & Canada is on 1900 & 850 GSM bands, whereas India (where most Nokia dual SIM phones are sold) is 900 & 1800.
Therefore it might be that the handset is not configurated for North America.

  • Deletion of "Business" Phone Numbers in Outlook af...

Has anyone had problems with business phone numbers stored in Microsoft Outlook being deleted after synching a Nokia N95 thru PC Suite?  I have contacted Microsoft and they cannot help.  Interestingly, it is only the "Business" phone number filed in Outlook that seems to have this problem - all others are OK.

SOrry i forgot to mentions the reason i said check for Dublicate numbers with one digit difference.
i have almost the same problem since 9300 Series. i figured out that i have too many cantacts number where their mobile fields consist of 10 digits each, the only difference between the numbers is in one digit only ( ex. 0505 XXXXXX and 0555 XXXXXXX ) if the Xs are the same I wont be albe to see the caller ID if I saved each on a different contact card . But, If i deleted the contact card of the number 0555 XXXXXXX all the outgoing calls and incoming call from this number will show the caller ID of 0505 XXXXXXX.
what i found it odd is when the one digit difference is at the end of the number it will show the caller ID for xxxxxxx1 or xxxxxxx2. Very Strange!
Hope the Helpdesk will provide me with a suggestion to resolve such little problem.

  • Nokia E52 BEST Phone ever used, but come on Nokia ...

    Hi there,
    Nokia plz listen,
The Nokia E52 is the best phone i have owned, in fact it is one of the few phones I bought directly from Nokia rather than via contract etc. Perfect SIze, excellent build quality, good screen, oodles of features, great battery and the best feature is the great well set out keypad.
The E52 is now getting on 2-3 years old, and although its great to use with the nice weighted keys, screen and features, I wish Nokia would bring out a newer E52 with a few subtle upgrades which I am sure will get Nokia sales back up to where they should be.
Most businesses still prefer keypad phones than touchscreen, and the E52 is a massive hit in the UK for example.
Nokia, add some features like this to new E52 successor:
    1) Joystick navigation should be the same but with touchpad controls (same as E72)
    2) Faster CPU- e52 feels sluggish
    3) More memory
    4) SYmbian seems to no longer be supported, so not sure if a newer symbian or WM/Android software is needed.
    5) DO NOT make it touchscreen, I want a phone that has a good battery and does not need charging everyday like Touchscreen phones.
    6) Better camera with autofocus features.
Nokia, this is the perfect phone, just add the above features and the people who still love keypad phones will come to buy the handset, I know I would....
Does Nokia even read these forums and feedback to the developers?
Anyone else share the same view?

Yes I am also waiting for a successor of my E52.
I had an E51 before and now the 52 .... both the best phones for my kind of usage.
As many others I tried touch-phones but it just does not feel 'right' for me. I know it is up
to taste but I like to have a telephone, if you know what I mean. Also phones like the Iphone
etc. do not have any kind of 'want-to-have' effect on me, and it might be by (a big?) part that I
associate these phones more and more with 16y old teens using them ... well actually
the biggest part of the grown-ups seem to want to do the same
Sadly the market for businesslike 'real' phones is becoming smaller and smaller. I still like
my E52 a lot but I would like to see some changes on my wish-successor.
    - As mentioned: Better processor. All programs should start fast. Menus pop up instantly etc.
-Would love a phone like this with a high-res display, 640*320 .... with a deep dark. One is allowed to dream ;-)
    - Keypad-light done more sophisticated build, maybe single led for the different keys, well I am no
    ingenieur.
-Scroll-Pad: I'd like a scroll function like in a blackberry. Could be useful with Emails, websites etc.
    - Better OS: I know this will be the killer for that phone as Symbian will only go so far anymore and
sadly everything new developed is touch centered. I do not know how far Windows Phone etc. could be
    incorporated.
Well ... let's see what will come in the future

  • I just bought a second iPhone for my business... I used my existing apple account and now all my texts are coming to both phones.. How do I get a secondary apple ID and change it on my business phone?

I used my existing apple ID when I purchased a second iPhone for my business.. Now all my texts are coming to both phones.. Is there a way to create a new apple account for my business phone and if so.. How do I delete one and add another?

Yes, you can have two separate Apple IDs, and it's pretty easy to set this up. Go into Settings > iTunes & App Store on your business phone. You should see your current Apple ID. Tap on it, then tap on sign out. You can then create a new Apple ID, using a different email address and password than those associated with the Apple ID on your other phone. Log back in using this new information, and you shouldn't get the texts that come to your other phone.
    Hope this helped!

I want to set up my business phone separately from my personal phone, but want to keep my personal iTunes music.  Can I do this if I have separate Apple ID's?

There is no need for seperate Apple IDs.
Connect the device to the computer.
Select what is desired to sync.
    Sync.
