E7-00 Contacts - customising field names

With previous Nokia phones I have been able to create names against phone numbers, necessary when I may have 6 or more phone numbers for one contact.
It seems impossible to do this with the E7-00, so I now have a list of phone numbers per contact and no way of telling the difference between each number.
If anyone has found a way of adding custom label names against each phone number I would appreciate hearing about it.
Thanks in advance for any help.

aspergerguy, farby
Thanks to both for responses.
I am reluctant to create a new contact for each person.  I have several hundred contacts, so it would take a long time to do.  If that is the only solution I may have to, unwillingly, look for another phone that offers the required functionality.  But there are not too many that offer a full qwerty keyboard like the E7-00.
I was not aware of  'Contacts_BackEXT' by RYOSOFTWARE.  Nor was I aware that PC Suite/Nokia Suite backups did not save field labels.  So this could be really helpful.  Previously I have used infra-red or bluetooth to transfer data to a new phone and have never had to restore from a backup, so never had reason to know of the issue.
Information on my-symbian suggest I may have a compatibility problem  with 'Contacts_BackEXT' as the phone where I currently have the field labels is a Nokia 9300i and is not apparently supported.  But I will investigate further.
Thanks again for your help.

  • How do I use field names other than the default ones in Contacts?

The iPhone doesn't like certain types of phone field names!
When you create a new contact with the Mac Address Book, you can choose mobile, iPhone, home, work, main, home fax, work fax, pager, and other. If, for example, your source data has a contact with a "main" phone number, that number doesn't sync at all.
The data ONLY moves from my Mac to my iPhone IF I use the default field names.
Why does Apple let us have a Custom name if this data will not sync?

Because they DO sync. You have some other problem.

  • Address Book field names changing for "imported" data

I'm migrating from a thousand year old Palm Pilot that has served me so well to an iPhone. So it's time to get my contacts into OSX Address Book.
I have tried moving the data a couple of ways - exporting vCards and text files from the Palm Desktop software.
I did extensive editing of the text file in MS Excel to get the data into good order.
I have set up a template in the Address Book preferences to create fields that I want/need. Some are generic default field names, some have custom names. eg. I want to see a field called "Bus. Phone" not one called "work". Call me picky.
I get the same basic result no matter if I import the vCard file or a text file - The names of the fields just show up with very generic names in the imported data. I should note that creating a NEW record seems to use the field names that I have specified in the preferences.
Also, when importing the text file, Address Book asks me to assign the field names for certain fields (while it seems smart enough to know what labels to use for other fields all on it's own). However, the Field Names available in the drop down menu ARE NOT the ones that I have set up in the prefs. I seem limited to the generic default field names only.
Can anybody tell me how to get the field names to be what I want them to be for address data that is being imported like this?
Thanks for any suggestions - this has been driving me crazy as it would seem to me to be a pretty basic process. (I mean, the Address Book has this import functionality and custom field name functionality built in so it should work right?!)

You can find enhancement in me28 by following steps and then apply your logic in include of this enhancement.
cmod>Give a project name>in enhancement column give the package name ME >f4>in package write ME-->ENTER>It will show you all enhancements available in me28> find which ever suits your requirement>save > click on components> from there you can make changes in include program.to add that particular field.

  • Sort contacts by last name, not phonetic last name

When I try to sort my Contacts by "Last, First", iOS (version 5 on iPhone 4) actually sorts them by Phonetic last name, then phonetic first name. I have populated the Phonetic names of some people with deceptive name spellings so I can voice dial them, but obviously want them to sort by their actual listed spelling—silent letters and all. Is there a way to work around this problem or is this an Apple bug.

Basic searches for "sort phonetic iphone" turn up LOADS of gripes about the downside of using the phonetic fields (non-alphabetized sorting) which almost certainly outweigh the benefits of same field's use.
Look at these ARCHIVED discussions (TONS of views, no fixes replied with) on Apple's own support forums from YEARS ago. Why hasn't this obvious BUG been addressed in years worth of updates? Come on Apple!
Address Book Alphabetizes Names by Phonetic Spelling

When entering a phonetic spelling in Address Book for a Contact's name that is hard to pronounce, Address Book files that Contact by the phonetic spelling instead of their real name. It is very odd to file Contacts this way; most people look up someone's name by the way it is spelled. It is too difficult to remember letters used to aid pronunciation when looking it up. For example, a common Vietnamese name 'Nguyen' is actually pronounced 'wen'. If I enter 'wen' in the phonetic spelling field, I will have to remember to look up Mr. Nguyen under 'W'.
Filing under the contact's real name would be best, but an option could be at least allowing a choice between the real and phonetic name; just like the choice of filing by 'Company' or 'Contact' that Address Book currently has.
Anyone figured a work around for this? I sent Apple feedback on the problem, but it hasn't changed in 3 years.
Address book -- turn off phonetic sorting?

In order to make better use of the iPhone 3GS voice control dialing feature, I have add phonetic representations for some of my contacts. However, when I do this I noticed that the address app sorts these contacts by their phonetic spelling. (For instance the name 'Zhou' is pronounced 'Jo', and is sorted under the letter J).
This seems kind of weird default behavior and should at least be configurable. Anyone know some way to do this?

  • Crystal 8.5 - now 9 - report in VB6 gives "This field name is not known"

    Hi,
I've got to do some maintenance on an old VB 6.0 project that had some Crystal 8.5 reports in it (DSR files).
I only had Crystal 9.0 (developer edition) available, so am using that.
Running one report I now get the error "This field name is not known".
Q1. How can I find out what field - and where in the report it is?
Q2. Is there anything special I should have done to "upgrade" the DSR/DCA and DSX files?
    Thanks,
    Details:
The reports are not "visual", they are created within a DLL that saves them as PDF's and/or prints them directly.
The reports are bound at run-time to recordsets; at design time they use field definition files (TTX). I believe I've made sure the field definitions match the recordsets that they represent.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your replies.
    Falk:
Nothing in particular was done to upgrade the files, other than to upgrade the VB project to reference the Crystal 9 dll's and such instead of Crystal 8.5.
The Crystal reports designer does not seem to want to open a DSR file. I did find some RPT files in the project; but while the Crystal reports designer will load them it does not seem to want to save as DSR files.
The "Field name is not known" message is returned in the error raised when VB tries to run the report, and it stops the report from being built.
    Ludek:
That's a good kbase article. I had actually guessed that was an issue and had fixed two of the three reports in this project, by dumping (to text files) the recordsets being bound to them and comparing real field names with the TTX files. (I also updated some of the custom formulas in the reports to match the proper names).
...but in the third report, I just couldn't find the mis-match; checking the recordsets, TTX files and any customisable formulas I could locate.
As for the patch - after installing it the report designer no longer works at all in VB6 - not for the reports that I had got working, nor even for a new report!
(added: actually I can't get any designer up, even the VB forms designer won't load, in a project with no Crystal in it...)
At this point I "give up".
VB Express 2008 was used to "upgrade" the VB project to .Net and then convert the DSR's to new format RPT's. They were then loaded into a fresh VS 2008 (C#) project.
I'm now at the point of trying to figure out how to put in the report events that were in the old DSR files in the original VB project (there is code in them to assign the recordsets as sources, at run time, and calculate and make available information from the report).
    Thanks again,

  • Authorization Check Field Name

    Hi,
Do we need to specify all field names when coding authorization check in abap?

    Hi,
    Plz go through this...
    AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT object
    ID name1 FIELD f1
    ID name2 FIELD f2
    ID name10 FIELD f10.
    Explanation of IDs:
object Field which contains the name of the object for which the authorization is to be checked.
name1 ... Fields which contain the names of the name10 authorization fields defined in the object.
f1 ... Fields which contain the values for which the f10 authorization is to be checked.
AUTHORITY-CHECK checks for one object whether the user has an authorization that contains all values of f (see SAP authorization concept).
You must specify all authorizations for an object and a also a value for each ID (or DUMMY ).
The system checks the values for the ID s by AND-ing them together, i.e. all values must be part of an authorization assigned to the user.
If a user has several authorizations for an object, the values are OR-ed together. This means that if the CHECK finds all the specified values in one authorization, the user can proceed. Only if none of the authorizations for a user contains all the required values is the user rejected.
If the return code SY-SUBRC = 0, the user has the required authorization and may continue.
The return code is modified to suit the different error scenarios.
The return code values have the following meaning:
4 User has no authorization in the SAP System for such an action. If necessary, change the user master record.
8 Too many parameters (fields, values). Maximum allowed is 10.
12 Specified object not maintained in the user master record.
16 No profile entered in the user master record.
24 The field names of the check call do not match those of an authorization. Either the authorization or the call is incorrect.
28 Incorrect structure for user master record.
32 Incorrect structure for user master record.
36 Incorrect structure for user master record.
If the return code value is 8 or possibly 24, inform the person responsible for the program. If the return code value is 4, 12, 15 or 24, consult your system administrator if you think you should have the relevant authorization. In the case of errors 28 to 36, contact SAP, since authorizations have probably been destroyed.
Individual authorizations are assigned to users in their respective user profiles, i.e. they are grouped together in profiles which are stored in the user master record.
Instead of ID name FIELD f , you can also write ID name DUMMY . This means that no check is performed for the field concerned.
The check can only be performed on CHAR fields. All other field types result in 'unauthorized'.

  • Imported contacts have last name/first name reversed

When I had my old Samsung dumb phone, I listed all my contacts by last name.  (There was a single name field in the old phone, so I listed everybody as "Smith, Bob.")  But when I had my contacts list imported into my new iphone 5c, it read all the last names as first names and vice versa.  (It put "Smith," in the first name field and "Bob" in the last name field.)  I know I can choose to sort contacts by last name or first name.  But when I choose "Last, First" it lists all my contacts by first name.  So now when I enter a new contact directly into the iphone, it's backwards from everything else.
What am I supposed to do here?  Am I just supposed to keep entering contacts backwards for as long as I have this phone?  Or is there some sort of app or setting to fix this?

  • N97 mini - Contact Sort Company, Name

    Hello
my  N97 mini is for Business use and  I am using Mail for Exchange. Everything works perfect.
I synchronize Mails, Contacts, dates and tasks  with Exchange.
In Exchange-Contacts are, along with other contact details, for me the important fields Name and Company.
When I synchronize, these fields are copied correct to the N97 mini .
In N97 mini i want to display Contacts in alphabetic order, using the fields Company, Name
I cant find settings to realize this
    Can anybody help ?
    Thanks
    mia_taugts

I find this part of my iPhone completely weird.
With my Treo running Agendus I could see all my Contacts by their company name and the contacts name alongside. If I did a search by name or company got a result.
However with 4000 contacts in my AB/iPhone searching for people by their names is difficult. For instance, living in Wales, where Jones, Jenkins, Evans, Davies etc are very common names I could have 20 people called David Jones but only 1 that works for ACME plumbing.
Also I may want to speak to three people from Acme Plumbing, but I can't remember their surname.
At the moment my solution to this is to create Groups in AB and split my contacts amongst these i.e zip codes, company sector etc. Also I use the App ABContacts which allows you to see the Contact Name under the Company name or vice versa.
This is the one area where I really do miss my Palm Treo/Agendus

  • Crystal Viewer error "This field name is not known"

I have MAS500 with crystal 10 that runs a report from a view in a SQL data base and it ran fine when only MAS500 and ABRA were installed on the terminal server. Then we installed a new product CribMaster that also uses Crystal 10.  After CribMaster was installed we got the error "This field name is not known" from Crystal viewer.  The report has a selection parametar .  I feel that there is a dll file that got over written, but do not know which one.  I can run the report from Crystal OK, but not from within the application.

Since you can run the report from Crystal OK, but not from within the application, I'd recommend trying to figure out the dlls loading, or not in the app. Use a utility such as [Modules|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip] to determine the differences. Modules will compare the log results for you (Module menu, choose "Differences").
You may also want to consider contacting the app creators to see if they can help...

  • Oracle can not support upto 32 characters table name and field name ?

    hi
    oracle up limitation ?
    create table aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa(a char);
    Error
    ORA-00972:identifier too long
    or
    create table a (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa char);
    Error
    ORA-00972:identifier too long
Oracle can not support upto 32 characters table name and field name ?
    It is true?
    null

    Hello All
It's been a year after those posts about the limit of identifiers in Oracle Database. Does anybody know what can be done to get rid of that primitive limit? We are developing using Application Servers, Java, generated Code and a very nice object model, in which we can't just use abreviations because of early database age memory shortcomings.
We are currently using 8i in a very large organization. Is there any chance this version can be configured to allow larger identifiers? Is upgrading to 9i going to solve this problem? Is Oracle Databases really doomed forever because of a 20-year-ago limitation?
Please, I do like Oracle Databases. I don't want to be flooded with quick answers like "just use 32 character identifiers". I would like to hear a serious solution. Is anybody there still locked in the 8.3 filename paradigm of MS/PC-DOS? Does anybody has to fit an entire Enterprise System in segmented 640Kb of memory? Does anybody has to use monochrome character mode interfaces? Of course not those in the mainstream.
I also know that other hadrware and software products have lots os limitations. Take Windows 2000. Its command line has a limit of 255 characters! You can't have more than 4GB of memory in a PC! However, one can't expect one mistake to justify others.
I wish I were very wrong in this respect, and all it should be necessary is to turn on some kind of configuration parameter in 8i to allow us to develop high quality code.
    Thanks for your attention.
Please, feel free to contact me if you have a solution.

  • Outlook task & Contacts first, last name swap

    Hi,
Sorry if this has been raised before.
I'm using Windows XP SP2 / Outlook 2003 / Nokia 6275 / Bluetooth. Synching Outlook and phone works successfully except for two small issues:
    * Completed Tasks in Outlook do not delete from phone even though Settings > Calendar options states "PC Sync removes recently completed To-do items from mobile phone".
    * My Outlook contacts are all stored "last name, first name" and sync correctly to phone. However once every month or so some Outlook records (not all) get corrupted and name field is changed to "first name last name"
    Any ideas?

I am not sure what you mean. If you mean Last name/first name to First name/Last name Go into contacts>options>Settings>Name display and set according to your needs. There are three options there.

  • Need to search contacts by last name

I need to know how I can only search the contacts by last name. As it is right now, it search last name and first name. I only need the last name.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Post relates to: Treo 650 (Sprint)

I am not sure I understand you? Do you mean when using the search function (Option key and magnifier) or when using the lookup function in the Phone, SMS and MMS applications?
In the case of the Lookup function, I described how to use last name only in that context.
In the case of Find, you cannot limit the field to which the search applies. You can only control the order of application databases to seach. It will search the database of the currently open application first. If you need a more advanced Find, I recommend www.intelligentfind.com.
