Easiest way to call MATLAB from Labview

I have a bunch of MATLAB scripts I've developed over the years. I'd
like to have Labview collect data and pass it off to my MATLAB scripts
for plotting and analysis as it is streaming in. What is the easiest
way for me to do this?
Thanks for your help,
Matthew Little

Matthew:
Have you tried the Matlab script container in the Mathematics->Formula
function palette? This node allows you to put your scripts into the
Labview diagram. I haven't tried it myself, but it should work. Good
luck.

Does your script work fine in MATLAB? Do you run a VI or an .exe?
MATLAB must be running, otherwise LabVIEW will be unable to access the MATLAB server. This will cause the 1047 error. Manually start MATLAB, and your program should run without the error.

  • Calling Matlab from Java

    Hi everybody,
I need to call Matlab from Java, run some programs in matlab and get the standard output.
I know I can start matlab with:
    Process proc = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("matlab");
But then how do i run a program in matlab? (For example, if I have "myprogram.m", I would run it in matlab by typing "myprogram")
If I start a new process [Process proc2 = Runtime......exec("myprogram")], it does not start in matlab.
    Any ideas?
    thanx in advance.

Sounds like myprogram is just a parameter of a call to matlab.
    Try some variations on
    exec("matlab myprogram");
There is also - I believe - an exzec call that takes an array of parameters.

Does anyone know whats the easiest way to tranfer files from pc to mac

What kind of files, how many files, total amount of file space? There are many ways to move files from platform to platform, but until you tell us what the nature of the task is we can't give you a proper solution.

I would use DropBox if you want to transfer your whole photo library.  The iPad is set up to make it very difficult to transfer content off of it.  This is to protect copyrighted materials and prevent file sharing.
Make sure you have the latest copy of DropBox on your iPad and it will automatically upload all your photos and videos to the Camera Uploads folder on DropBox.  Keep in mind this may take a long time to get them all uploaded, especially if you have a lot of videos and a slow WiFi connection.  It won't work over 3G / 4G must be a Wifi connection.  Once they are uploaded to Dropbox it is simply a matter of then downloading them to the place you want to download them to.

Im new to Mac and wanted to know what is the easiest way to transfer files from a mac computer and mac extenal hardrive to windowns and vice versa?

For small amount of files, a regular USB stick or drive, it's already formatted with a MBR and FAT32 most likely which works both on PC's and Mac's.
External drives if you need more space.
However FAT (or Fat32 or MSDOS) has a 4GB file size limit. So if your transfering files bigger than that then you need to format it exFAT on the Windows machine.
Vista and Win 7 can do this, Windows XP one can download a free exFAT upgrade from Microsoft.
Mac's can read/write the MBR and FAT/exFAT (10.6.5 and later) formats, it's best to format it on the Windows machine, even though the Mac can format it too, it's better to do it on Windows then take it to the Mac to confirm.
Rack your brain here on it.

Is it possible to access MATLAB script from LabVIEW on a Sun work station. If so how - for there is no MATLAB script node in SUN based LabVIEW

Because LabVIEW uses ActiveX technology to implement MATLAB script nodes, they are available only on the Windows platform.
There may be other ways to invoke the Matlab script server in Unix but I am not aware of any.

  • Easiest Way to Move Media from One External Drive to Another?

My MacBook Pro only has a 500GB hard drive and I currently have all my movies on a 1TB external hard drive.  Everything works fine through iTunes, but now since the 1TB is maxed out, I'd like to use my new 2TB external hard drive going forward.  I understand that I need to re-route where iTunes finds the movies, but what is the easiest way to make the conversion from the 1TB to the 2TB?
I have copied all movies from the 1TB to the 2TB.  Is the only thing left to do is re-route the location to the 2TB?  Or do I need to drag and drop all movies into iTunes (they're all already in there)?  Just didn't know if I needed to add them into iTunes again so they know to point to the 2TB drive. (sorry if I didn't explain that good!)
Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks Limnos!  Really appreciate the help!
    To clarify:
    - I currently have only movies on the external 1TB drive (which iTunes points too).  The downside is that I ALWAYS have to have my external drive plugged in, in order to play on Apple TV (or view on MacBook).  I have appx. over 500GBs of movies on my external 1TB.
    - All music (appx. 200GBs) is currently on my internal hard disk, but with a 500GB internal hard drive, that's going to fill up quickly (just so you know - I already have about 125GBs of pics in iPhoto AND work in Photoshop regularly so PSDs lessen my internal 500GB space quickly).
Eventhough I HATE having to keep an external drive plugged into my MacBook, I'm just going to have to suck it up and get used to it so I will have more space and my MacBook will run faster.
With that in mind, I was thinking about moving my music (200GBs) onto my 2TB external drive (along with the movies).  So that would leave roughly the photos and Photoshop files (and random other things that are small in size) on my internal drive.
I could start all over and delete all movies that are in iTunes (the application - not the folders) and then drag and drop them into iTunes from the new 2TB, but I wasn't sure all the metadata (really the cover artwork) would be attached when I did that?  Going that route really doesn't bother me since I've already copied all movies files from my 1TB to my 2TB.  Basically, I would be starting over from scratch as if the old 1TB never existed.
Trying to run this through my mind and come up with the best/easiest way.  What I don't want to do is try and find cover artwork for the almost 300 movies I have (and all the cover artwork for the CDs I have too if I decide to keep my music on the 2TB external drive).
Hope that helps and makes sense?  Thanks again!

  • Easiest way to transfer contacts from iphone 4 to ...

which the easy way to transfer contacts from iphone4 to 520.
i have backup of iphone4 in windows outlook express.from here anyway to nokia 520?
    or any other easiest way?

    Try THIS
Outlook express is ancient and has not been supported or available for years. From you using that I assume you are still on XP at best.
You could export to windows address book from Outlook Express, then download Windows Mail from Windows Essentials. Once installed, sign in to Windows Mail using the same Microsoft account used on the 520 and import the address book. This would sync the contacts to your Microsoft account and from there to the 520.

  • Easiest way to extract data from dead Macbook Pro?

I figured if anyone could help, it would be you guys. I would imagine a large majority of you are more computer savvy than anyone I know. My MBP crashed almost a year ago, I opened it one morning to find it wouldn't turn on. It doesn't properly boot, it just sounds different. The screen stays black and the light on the front isn't the same, I think it kind of goes in and out.
Anyway, unfortunately I've given up on getting the Mac back, but I really need the stuff that was on it. I heard I could put this hard drive in a new MBP when I get one, but that probably won't be anytime soon. What would the cheapest and/or easiest way to retrieve my data? I was hoping a friend could somehow open its files and put it on an xhd? Something tells me it's not that easy though. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated

shldr2thewheel: Right on. It's good to know there are options. However, if it comes down to something like that, I'll just have to wait until I make a lot more than what I make now. I could care less about most of the stuff, I just want all of the videos I've taken on Photo Booth. My best friend died last year and it has some of the best times of my life on there.
Shootist007: I'm at work now and it's been over 6 months since I've even tried to turn it on. From what I remember, the boot noise doesn't go 'up' like normal. It used to make two noises really fast, the latter being higher. I'm sure there's a much better way to describe it but I sure can't think of it. The system does come to life, but it doesn't do anything. The fans turn on, the LED light slowly flashes, but the screen does nothing. I also seem to remember the sound of it being on being a lot quieter, like it wasn't actually on. I'm sorry if this isn't enough to work with.

  • Easiest way to transfer photos from my old Windows desktop to new MacBook?

I am an Apple newbie. What is the easiest way to transfer 7 years of photos from my old Windows desktop (Vista operating system) to my brand-new MacBook Air (OS 10.9.5)? Please answer in specific and simple terms. I'm not a techie. Thanks.

    LarryHN wrote:
That does not create a backup since the photos are on the same disk as the iphoto library, it simply wastes disk space - when the computer or the disk fails or the computer is stolen everything is gone as it is all in the same place - to have a backup you need a copy on a different disk - if you drag the photo from the external disk onto the iPhoto icon in the the dock iPhoto will import them (be sure that the default setting for "copy imported items to the iPHoto library" is checked - do not uncheck it - then you will have the photos in iPhoto and a backup on the external drive
You also need to get an external drive about 2 to 2 1/2 times the size of the iphoto library formatted mac OS extended (journaled) and start running timeMachine so you always have hourly backups
    LN
    What?
I did mention using an external drive, did i not?  Copying the photos to the external drive, and then copying the photos from the external drive to the mac. means they now exist in the external drive as well as the new Mac, the external drive is now effectively a backup of the photos. .
I never mentioned anything about iPhoto.   Just a straight copy though Windows Explorer, and Finder on the Mac.

  • Easiest way to get music from iPod to MacBook

I am trying to switch everything from my PC to my MacBook and was wondering if there is an app or something I can use to transfer all my music from my iPod to my Mac so I don't have to make a half dozen DVDs to transfer them.

Easiest way would be to use an external hard drive. Do you have another iPod besides the iPhone that can be used as an external hard drive? How big is your library?

  • Any way to call function from impdp except remap_data?

    HI Friends,
I have a requirement of load prd data into stage by masking some sensitive columns.Iam using impdp of datapump utility to load data.iam using remap_data option to call mask functions. But remap_data option is supporting upto 10 columns.
we have more than 20 columns to mask.
is there any other way to call oracle function from impdp?
    eg:-
    impdp pa_data_sub/******@qdssih30 NETWORK_LINK=qdspih30 schemas=RESP remap_data=col1.mask,col2.mask,col3.mask... CONTENT=all table_exists_action=replace
    Please suggest me different options.
    Thanks,
    Venkat Vadlamudi

    No,
I didn't realize that there was a limit of 10 for remap data. As a work-around, can you remap 10 of the columns during export, and then 10 during import? Not sure if you want to give someone a dumpfile with sensitive data in it. If you could, you could at least double the limitation to 20 rows.
